In the early 1960's a man named Albert Amphitheatre had a desire and a dream. He was man of 20 and he was a musician in a local high school in Washington D.C. Very few students were able to pass on the term "cool" and be a person in choir, band, art, dance, etc. So there were many few. But this passionate man dreamt of a day where he could live in a world where the fine arts kids could be proud of who he was. Convinced, he was born to be a musician, he decided to let musicians of the new era's be able to spend quality time with each other.
Treasure torn out paper from the corner of a page
Measure worn out epigrams for signs of change with age
Figure out that figuratives mark figure a and b
Images i imagened with pretty imagery (means you and me)
The whole idea to start up a new school just for Fine Arts students came to him from a friend of his. Plans began to build quickly and his desires were soon to be fulfilled. Any student who wanted to be able to socialize with other fine arts kids without criticism of being "cool" or uncool, soon started on paper then eventually grew off of paper and a large palace-like building was built for the school to get started.
Its so far away but ive planned a date
And thats at least a start to get inside your heart
It might be you and me oh we could be a team
It might be you and me oh just wait and see
Students took advantage of the building and soon started to show up, sign up, pay for tuition. Their policy was that even if they didnt have the money to afford the school, they would let them in anyway because a student is important to them, but they had to audition out, for it was a Fine Arts school looking for talent. But, public high schools felt they were losing their students. And started growing petitions and taking them to the government. But the government declined them, feeling it was good for the students to live in a world where they could socialize, still play sports and go to class. So they saw it as a normal high school except based on the Fine Arts. So they had no problem. For years Amphi grew more and more students, Freshman-Senior year. And even now, they are still up and running.
