500 years ago, Arcus Mage, together with his two brothers, Imber and Nix, and sisters, Tempest and Apricus, created a school designed for young witches and wizards from all over the world to attend, where they could study magic older than time itself far away from the prying eyes of interferring muggles.
The school resides in no country, as it is located in the sky. Literally! After much discussion, the siblings decided that it would be fairest to have the school neutral from all nations – so that people from all over the world would feel welcome there.
So the school now orbits the Earth on top of an immense cloud, created when the five Mages combined their magic together. However they did not stay united for long and each Mage had its own house at the school, Arcus, Imber, Nix, Tempest and Apricus. And students are still sorted into these same five houses today.
In an ancient prophecy regarding the school, it was foretold that if the five houses were to ever turn against each other, the Mage’s magic would cease to exist, causing the school to fall from the sky. However, since the creation of the school there has been little more than the occasional argument and light hearted inter-house rivalry, so the school continues to function in harmony.
Luckily, this prophecy only applied to the houses themselves and not the founders. For if the founders had been included, then the school would have been destroyed almost as soon as it was made...
The black point has been a source of mystery to the inhabitants of the school for many years now. It is said to be filled with mysterious creatures and dark magic, which are supposed to ward trespassers away from the point. No one knows who put them there or for what purpose. But surprisingly, these ancient guards are not the greatest source of speculation when it comes the Point. No, it is common knowledge of course that four of the schools five founders are buried in Silver Wing's cave, however, what became of the fifth and final founder of the school? Well, on a blustery November morning, following an argument with her brother Arcus, Tempest stormed into the Black Point and vanished. She was never heard of again, and, although the other founders tried to go in after her, they got no further than the outer caverns. She has since been presumed dead, however, as no body was ever found, some people still believe that she is alive....
Fast forward five hundred and the school is still standing, luckily, but some people can't help but wonder for how much longer; a new generation of the founders' ancestors have just begun their time at the school, and this lot appear to be the most rebellious yet.
Will they continue to get along well enough to prevent the prophecy’s fulfilment, or will some of the more 'fiery' characters among them put an end to what is the oldest, most respected, wizarding school of our time?
