Ben smirked, shaking his head slightly. “You and a few other people I know.” One of his cousins always took a great joy in upsetting people. Including himself. They always said that Ben was a great person to make mad. Apparently his ears turned red when he gets upset. He’d never quite believed the rumor himself, but then again, he couldn’t look at his ears without a mirror. “But hey, whatever floats your boat I guess.” He chuckled. Live and let live, that’s what he always said. Even if they did enjoy making people mad.
“I’m sure you won’t.” Ben prompted her as she looked away. He smiled slowly again as Laura went on to explain her theory about himself, Luke, and her own brother. He took the first part of her statement to heart. Did she really think he was a nice guy? Or was she just saying nicer than Luke and Chase? “Yeah. I get what you mean.” Ben said quickly after Laura tried to explain herself further. “I guess you’re right. I guess if I knew Chase better, then I might have made a better analogy.” He thought for a moment. “I guess it could be like…If someone punched Faden or something.” He almost wanted to add in the amendment that he’d only said that on the assumption that she and Faden were dating, but left that part out. After all, Laura looked like they were just about to go out when he’d arrived; he didn’t want her to think about what she might be missing by hanging out with him and feel guilty or something.

It wasn't that Laura was a bitch, but she could act like one. Catch her at a moment like Ben did the first time they met, she didn't have the energy to be annoyed and after that he was already on her good side. She had already started considering him a friend. Even if they didn't know much about eachother. A good bit of Laura's history, when they spoke in the theatre, the most important bits, she left out or lied about. And from him, he knew he was a sweet, protective brother who, over all, seemed grounded and apparently had a great relationship with his parents. It was strange, but Laura always seemed to be more optimistic around him. She laughed a bit, "Heh yeah well...not bitch in that arrogant I'm better than you way, but in the 'you're being an idiot and you're in my way, get out kind of way. If that makes sense."
“I guess it could be like…If someone punched Faden or something.”
Laura nodded with a smile. "Yeah, I would probably despise that person. " She said, "Because Faden, wouldn't hurt a fly. I swear. He told me when he was 11 up in Portland, he accidently ant and started crying. What a loser." She added. I mean, she loved the guy. Adored him. Best friend she could ever have because there wasn't anyway for romance to break off the friendship and because he was so himself it was a comfort. He was open enough with his feelings for the both of them. "I hope he's not too horrible to have as a roomie. have you noticed the number of hats that boy has yet?"

Ben nodded. He couldn’t imagine Laura being arrogant or bitchy. It just didn’t fit her nature. But the ‘you’re being an idiot’ thing he could understand. “Yeah I get that. I’m like that too…On a rare day that is.” He laughed, his thoughts drifting. Laura. She was funny, smart, and appeared dedicated to her work in the theater. But he couldn’t shake the slightest inkling that there was something important that she wasn’t telling him. The suspicion was brought on by talking about Faden. He recalled the night in the theater when Faden himself had entered their conversation, asking if Laura was okay. He shook the thoughts away quickly. If there was something that bad, he assumed that Laura would tell him when she was ready.
“He cried?” Ben hadn’t meant to laugh at the fact, but he did. “That’s interesting. I’ve never heard of a person crying over an ant.” He choked back further laughter. “But I can imagine you would hate the person. You and he being so…Close and all.” Another discreet hint that they might be dating. In all honesty, Ben was really hoping she’d deny it, just to put his conscience to rest. Ben shook his head slowly with another laugh as Laura asked about Faden’s hats. “He must have brought like…Ten. I swear, those hats came out of no where as he was pulling them out of his bag.”

Laura looked at him for a moment. It seemed as though he was attempting to ask her something but was a tad...embarassed or thought it was inappropriate ask maybe. Who knew? She smiled and gave a small nodd, "Yeah...we are close...as close as best friends get." She said adding the last part just in case he had thought Laura and Faden were anywhere near together. Laura and Faden would definatly be a strange couple but I suppose not a lot of people would be surprised by it happening if they didn't know Laura and Faden. Chase would kill him. But thankfully that wasn't going to happen. Faden was like a brother to her. Just not an extremely overprotective womanizer one.
“He must have brought like…Ten. I swear, those hats came out of no where as he was pulling them out of his bag.”
Laura laughed, "He always does. I swear. He got three fedora's when he lived in his grandpa's attic and then became obsessed. Wears one overy day." She said. She had to admitt though. As much as people made fun of the way he dressed, the fedora hats and all of the t-shirts from musicals and shows he'd been in, laura loved the way he dressed. She loved the multicolored scarves and funky hats on him. She loved that personality wise he could be just as sane as a good friend has to be but just as freakish as a classic dreamer must be. He was energetic and optimistic and crazy and that made him a great friend. But Laura would need someone who didn't confuse her every other second romantically. Best friends, that's all.

Best friends? Suddenly, Ben felt like he could breathe. He didn’t have to worry about being alone with Laura like they were now. He felt himself relaxing even more than he had before. Best friends. Why had he thought Laura and Faden were anything else? Come to think of it, Laura and Faden had acted more like siblings than like they were dating. “Sure seems like it.” Ben said with a small laugh. “If I hadn’t known better, when I met you two I might have thought you two were siblings or something.” He paused for a moment, wondering if she might consider that a bad thing to say. "I...I mean they way you two acted." He amended quickly.
He nodded as Laura talked more about Faden’s hats. They were pretty cool looking, Ben had to admit, even though he probably couldn’t pull one off every day like Faden did. “I have to say, they’re pretty awesome looking. And hey, at least you can never get him confused with any of the other people at Valkryie. Just look for a fedora and there he is.” It reminded him of adults dressing their kids in bright colors when they went out. His parents had once told him that the cause was keeping track of their children, should they ever get lost. It seemed to continue to work throughout teenage years as well.

She watched him as he spoke, she wouldn't have been offended by them acting like siblings. A lot of people thought that but even more assumed they were together. She laughed and nodded, "In other words you thought we were a couple?" She asked with a grin. It was all in good humor and if she looked back there were quite a few things that could've been like an unconventional couple. "I have a feeling that if me and Faden actually were together, he wouldn't have left his girlfriend, alone in a hotel room with another guy" She said, then realized that could be misinterpreted, "I mean even if there's nothing...you know, going on."
Damn that was awkward. She internally cursed at her self. She didn't even like Ben, at least she thought she didn't. Laura didn't get crushes on people. She was a person with good friends and that's it. That's how it had always been. She had had a few a flings before, but she was simply ansy. Laura's not slutty nor does she sleep around but with Chase being so crazy protective, she had only a few boyfriends, and they only lasted so long before Chase Found out and she was human and had hormones. Doesn't mean she was sex crazed at all.

Ben cleared his throat lightly. Apparently Laura and Faden had experienced that assumption before. “Ah…yeah. I did. Sorry.” He laughed a little, realizing she thought nothing of it. She did have a good point though, about a guy leaving his girlfriend in a hotel room with some other guy alone. But the last part of her sentence unnerved him. “Yeah…I know what you mean. Guy’s being so protective and all…Over sisters and girlfriends…you know what I mean?”
Nothing going on? Was she talking about between them? Or in a general case? Considering that she brought it up right then, Ben could only assume that she meant between them. Damnit. Then again, she was a junior, while he was a sophomore. Generally relationships like that didn’t happen. Then again, Ben wasn’t even a hundred percent sure that he liked Laura like that. He didn’t know how to distinguish that feeling from any other. Sure, he’d had girlfriends before, but he was never sure if he liked them or not. But with Laura it felt a little different. Even though she didn't seem to feel the same way.

“Yeah…I know what you mean. Guy’s being so protective and all…Over sisters and girlfriends…you know what I mean?”
Laura had on a small smile as though she were thinking about something pretty intently, "Yeah I do," She said slowly before she forced a smile onto her lips, "Of course I just think that's because you guys are so possessive." She said, she was only have serious. She did think guys got possessive on their girlfriends and somewhat over their sister but most of the brother's protectiveness came from love and she knew that. She could feel the slight awkwardness in the air from what she had stupidly said, there wasn't anything going on was there? She was a junior, he was a sophmore, okay they were both 16 so it didn't really matter much to her. But the point was that she didn't get crushes on people.
She looked around the room, before taking a deep breath. Best way to get out of awkwardness was to move around right? Change the situation. She stood up and pointed to the door, "You want to go for a walk? explore the hotel and it's surrounding area a bit or whatnot?" She said very quickly but as casually as she could make it sound. Like I said before, the only emotions Laura handles well are happy and bitchy.

Ben laughed, although it sounded slightly nervous. “Yeah. We are. Don’t know why though.” He shrugged, moving his legs so they were hanging off the bed again. He looked down at his hands, now and again glancing up at her tentatively. He didn’t really know what else to say; the feeling was making him a little jumpy. It was one that didn’t happen very often, but he sure as hell hated it when the feeling came up.
Which was why he was glad when Laura suggested going for a walk. He stood up as well, nodding. “Sure. I haven’t had much time to look around anyways. Following Emilia and all that.” He’d gone to the pool for a few minutes, but that hadn’t been much of an adventure anyways. Coming to Las Vegas was supposed to be about seeing the lights and stuff like that. They were about to leave, and he hadn’t even paid attention to any of that so far. “Let’s go.” With a small smile, Ben strode over and opened the door, holding it open for her.
{Sorry for shortness.}

"Great!" She standing up. She pulled her shoes onto her feet, that Faden had so wonderfully grabbed for her from deep under the bed. She walked through the opened door and into the hallway. "Thank you." She said with a smile as she walked over to where the elevators were and pressed the button. Already it felt better. The Air seemed lighter as the elevator opened. She smiled, "Soo..." She began as she stepped into the elevator ((god damn I've said that word a lot.)).
She smiled, "Where do you want to go? Or...see?" She said as she pushed the door open button so he could get in. She had to admit, she liked this. I mean, she hoped Faden had found something to do and wasn't bored and alone in his bedroom. But she was perfectly happy hanging out with Ben alone. Sure there had been a few awkward moments but still. She pointed to his eye, "Looks like the swelling has gone down." She added with a grin.
((It's okay, mines shorter))

"You're welcome." He said with a small smile and slight bow as she went through the door. Being sure to flip off the lights before he closed the door, Ben jogged a couple steps to catch up with her. What can I say? He's kind of weird like that. He didn't like wasting energy. Besides, he didn't know when they'd be back. Not that he expected anything to happen, but the shows here could last a while. He felt more comfortable now that he was walking around. It made it easier for him to think.
As they got into the elevator, he thought about what they might do. It was pretty late, so he didn't really know what they could do. So, he shrugged. "I don't really know." Ben replied honestly. "What is there to do this late at night?" As she pointed to his eye, he reached up and touched it gingerly. It didn't hurt quite as bad at this point, so he nodded with a smile. "Really? It doesn't hurt much anymore. Just when I blink or something." He shrugged, laughing a little.

Laura smiled and thought for a moment as the elevator door shut and they could feel it begin to move downward. What could they do? She listened for the little ding and stepped out of the elevator, "There's so much." She said still meditating on the subject. She began to walk through the lobby when she got an idea. She smiled and turned around to face him but kept walking. So as she walked backwards through the lobby she smiled, "We could go to Siegfried & Roy's Dolphin Habitat. I hear it's amazing at night." She said as a suggestion.
"Really? It doesn't hurt much anymore. Just when I blink or something."
Laura nodded and held in a small laugh. With a grin she replied, "Well that's goo, seeing as blinking isn't a required movement" She said with a nod, turning back around and walking next to him, "You know, unless you want to keep your eyesight." She shook her head, "Sorry, I forgot to bring asperin or another anit-inflamatory."
((Cruddy post, sorry))

Ben stepped out after her, nodding a little. He'd heard about the Habitat himself. As manly as it didn't sound, he actually did want to go. Dolphins fastinated him. "Let's do that then. It sounds fun." Besides, Vegas was supposed to be really awesome at night, so why miss the best sights when they looked the greatest? He didn't know where the Habitat was, but he hoped it was at least a little ways of a walk, so that he could see as much as possible before they had to leave again.
"I dunno, Laura." Ben replied with a laugh, holding open the lobby door. When she stepped out, he walked next to her again. "Being the only guy at Valkyrie with a shrivled up eye might make me like...The coolest guy ever." He shook his head slowly, smiling. He doubted if the eye shrivling up thing was even true, or if it was just one of those things parents told you when kids did something stupid with their eyes or faces. Like looking cross eyed. "And don't worry about it. I'll be fine. Even if I do have a shrivled up eye."

"Cool" She replied as they left the lobby and went outside. The streets were crowded as always with many different types of people wandering around. She loved Vegas, even if she didn't gamble. Vegas had become more than just casino's. She pointed off to the left. "It's a few blocks this way." She said beginning to walk, she made sure he was next to her. The one thing she couldn't stand about crowds was she was scared of getting lost or losing whoever you were with. They were daunting and consuming. So, whenever she was in one, even in the halls f valkyrie, she needed to be able to see the person she was with, or the group.
"Being the only guy at Valkyrie with a shrivled up eye might make me like...The coolest guy ever."
She laughed, "Oh of course you will be, if you aren't already for punching Luke." She added with a grin, "But, gor your information. The eye doesn't shrivel up. It's an open organ and would quickly get infected if it's protective layer of tears dried up and then you'd have get it removed." She sadi this quickly. Wow she knew some weird things from watch House so much. Now he's going to think your weird. Okay so Laura was weird but not a lot of people saw her weird side. Well, Faden and chase, and Diem a bit. God she loved Diem, such a spunky little freshman.
