Appearance: Should be four-five paragraphs, at least.
Nina is a very pretty girl. She has long chocolate brown hair that falls down just past her shoulders. Her hair is naturally curly but she does like to straighten it sometimes for a nice change. Nina loves her hair and takes good care of it but she is prone to dandruff unfortunately which annoys Nina to death.
Her eyes are a cross between hazel and proper brown and almost always have a twinkle in them to match her bright smile. Her eyes are fairly small but their so bright with happiness that it's hardly noticable. Her face often gives away her emotions, usually in her eyes. You can always tell how she's feeling just by looking at her. Well almost always.
Nina is pretty small and has a very girl-next-door vibe. She doesn't wear a lot of make-up but wears it all the same. Usually she just wears mascara, lipgloss and some eyeliner for school and on weekends she'll apply eyeshadow if she's going out.
She was born in the Philippines and lived there until she was seven and she still has a small accent and her looks are definately Fillipino.
Nina is mostly seen in cute singlet tops and shorts or jeans. She is fairly casual and only gets dressed up when something important is happening. She prefers her jeans out of all her clothes but she is a shopaholic. Her style is stylish but casual.

Nina is one of the brightest students at Valkyrie Academy. I mean this both intelligent wise and personality wise. She is a very smart girl who learns things easily but she does tend to struggle in Maths and Science. Her brain isn't very logical and sometimes the choices she makes aren't always the best choices. She is very creative and dramatic, often dubbed the 'drama queen' by her friends. She loves attention but won't steal the limelight. She prefers to wait patiently until the attention turns to her.
She can be fairly impatient sometimes and hates waiting for things. She is very girly and loves shopping with a passion. She can shop for hours and tends to spend lots of money on clothes mainly. Thankfully she tends to be kind of picky with her clothes and quite often can shop for hours without buying anything.
Shee has a stubborn streak and doesn't like being wrong. Thankfully she knows when she's wrong and though she hates admitting it, she will eventually come around and admit. She has a sense of pride and hates being humilated. Nina isn't bitchy and hates seeing people put down or upset but if she has been hurt or is mad at someone, all of that is forgotten and she can be the biggest bitch around. Luckily that certain streak in her doesn't show up very much.
Nina is also a hopeless romantic. She loves all the fairytales where the handsome prince saves the day and gets the girl and they ride off into the sunset, living happily ever after.

Nina can be very vunerable in relationships and is often taken for granted. She is a hopeless romantic like I mentioned before and falls in love too easily. But her 'love' doesn't usually last very long and she is still waiting for Mr Right. Boys usually just date her for the 'I have a girlfriend' label or just for fun.
Another flaw is that she is very stubborn sometimes and hates being wrong.
She can be very bitchy sometimes but that streak doesn't come through too often thankfully.

Secrets:
Her parents want her to marry as soon as she leaves high school and worse off, they want her to go back to the Phillipines to find her husband!
Another secret, something that even Nina didn't know for a long time is that she was born a twin. Her twin brother didn't survive the birth though. This is one of the reasons her parents are so over protective because she is the only one they have.

History: Well over five paragraphs on history.
Nina was born in The Phillipines. Her mother had lived there all her life so when Nina's father Frank arrived in her town as part of his doctoring research, it was love at first sight. Frank was born in America and loved the different vibes of the Phillipines. He loved it so much he ended up staying there for good. Melissa was happy to show him around and helped him settle in as quickly as possible. It wasn't long before he proposed. They were a very happy couple and rarely fought. When Nina and her twin brother were born, it seemed like the perfect family. Except that her brother didn't quite survive the birth. He died the day later as his heart hadn't quite formed properly, not letting enough blood run to his head. Melissa and Frank were devistated at the news but were just thankful that Nina was still alive. Because she was the only one they had now, they tended to be a little over-protective. Nina wasn't embarrassed though since she was still little.
So Nina and her family lived in The Phillipines until she was seven. Everything was going fine until her parents decided to move to America. Since her fathergrew up in the U.S and he decided that it was time to go back. Nina's mother had lived in the Phillipines almost her life but she was happy to make the switch so Nina moved countries and had to make new friends at a new school.
Thankfully she was only seven so making friends wasn't a big issue. Her accent was very thick though but she had learnt English at school back in the Phillipines so the language wasn't a problem. But because of her accent, people sometimes had trouble understanding her. This caused a bit of bullying and teasing for her which she wasn't used to at all. Nina had always been the girl everyone liked and wanted to be friends with but here she was teased! The teasing went for a while before she finally told her father who immediately told Nina's teacher who then had a word with the students involved.
After that Nina settled in fine and before you know it she was getting ready for high school. Having made plenty of friends in primary school who came to Valkyrie Academy with her, she was very excited and couldn't wait to start a new adventure. Her parents were always very pleased with her grades and she stared in many school productions, always eager to get up on the stage.

Nina's freshman year flew by quickly as she made new friends again, had her first boyfriend and first bitch fight.
She went through a lot of changes during Sophmore though. There was a fight among her and one of her friends and she realised she didn't feel comfortable with the group of girls she was with. So she started changing herself, hoping to find where she belonged in the process. She had a short emo stage, hung with the dorks and tried a lot of different styles and cliques before finally finding the right group.
Now she's in her junior year at Valkyrie and with the shocking news she just found out from her parents, a big crush on one of her male friends and the general dramas that happen in high school, it's definately going to be a fun and interesting year for Nina!

It made me giggle. Don't ask why. I just find the idea of 5 Rachel Bilsons running around high school funny. hehe.

What Makes Your Character Different From The Rest?:
Nina isn't stuck up but she has confidence. She knows she is pretty but doesn't like to flaunt it all the time. She believes in true love and fate and she's just waiting for the right moment. If there's an opportunity, she takes it.

"Nina you're going to be late!" Melissa Suresh called from the lounge room downstairs of the Suresh's large house. Nina sighed as she put down her eyeliner. "WE STILL HAVE TEN MINUTES!" she screamed down the stairs before looking back into her bathroom mirror to finish her eyeliner. She really had to look good tonight. Tonight there was a rather big important party held by someone's parent in the Valks. And a certain cute boy was going to be there according to her friends.

Parent parties weren't as good as the regular parties but they were still good fun. You couldn't go as crazy and get as drunk because the parents were always watching but there was usually good music and she loves meeting new people and chatting with her friends.

"5 MINUTES NINA! AND THEN WE'RE LEAVING WITH YOU OR NOT!"
Great. Now her mum was getting angry. Nina stepped away from the mirror, almost tripping on the cord for her hair straightener as she did so. Nina let out a small squeal as she grabbed onto the sink with one hand to steady herself, using the other hand to unplug the straightener. She opened the curboard and threw the hair straightener inside with a clatter before hurrying out the door and back into her bedroom.

"Okay, handbag..handbag..." she murmered to herself, her eyes darting around the room as she looked for her little handbag which went perfectly well with her short lavender dress she was wearing today. Finally spotting it under a heap of clothes, she yanked it out and quickly glanced in the mirror to check herself.

"OKAY WE'RE LEAVING! GOODBYE!" Nina rolled her eyes as she practically ran out of the bedroom and trotted down the stairs. "Jeez Mum I was coming." she said as she hurried outside where her mum was waiting to lock the door.
"We're going to be late now." her mum sighed as she locked the door and climbed into the car just as Nina shut her door and sunk back into the back seat. Despite her nagging mum, tonight was definately going to be a really fun night.
