Appearance:
Light blue eyes and dark brown hair. A rare beauty that is hard to find in any part of the world. Taller that most girls her age at 5 6, she hadn’t been always this beautiful. She was very overweight all her life. But, summer before she started high-school she slimmed down. When she started highschool that fall people recognized her alright. She went from ‘loser’ to ‘popular’ with new friends and some boyfriends here and there.
For being in California all her life she had never caught onto the trends that the other Californian kids followed. When she was overweight her style, if you could call it that, was big t-shirt and sweatshirts and sweatpants. Not quite the “rich kids” attire. Now though, she has followed her own trends. She wears a cross between the 80s and elegance. She loves to make her own clothes which she often does.
Her hair is almost always the same, down. She thinks she looks prettier that way. It has naturally soft curls in. She doesn’t spend so much time making it look perfect, since it already looks like it. As for the make-up. Well, that’s a different story. Daphne had never even worn make-up before. She experiences with it and mimics make-up of a magazines. She wears mascara, which she really doesn’t need to due to the fact that she has pretty long and thick lashes as it is. But, she wants to ‘fit in.’ Still after 3 years.
Personality:
Daphne has always had a bubbly personality. Not that anyone noticed. No one had ever gotten to know her. She can be fun, and has a good laugh when she finds something funny. She believes in ‘everything happens for a reason.’ Being isolated from her peers over the years, Daphne sure had plenty of past time. She studied. She is extremely smart, but hardly shows it so it doesn’t look like she is a geek. As you can tell she is very shy, timid, and self-conscious.
But, deep down, Daphne is a true-romantic that believes in love at first sight, true love, and everlasting love. If she ever does have a boyfriend she would be committed. Though it wouldn’t look like she was the clingy girlfriend type. She would love being in love, because to Daphne, love is the closet thing we have to magic...
History:
Daphne lived in Valkyrie with her sister and parents all her life. Her father is Greek, her mother French, but at five, her mother left the family for her high-paying boss. Causing the three to live in the lower side of the town. As Daphne grew older she grew fatter, as she ate more and more. Even with her peers making fun of her, it made her eat more and more. Being fat in California was basically a felony. It was unheard of. No friends all through elementary school, no friends all throughout junior high.
The summer before her freshmen year, she cracked. After overdosing on her dad’s sleeping pills, she was admitted to the hospital and was forced to throw up all the pills. After the suicide attempt, her father got her a therapist. She knew if she wanted the high-school experience to be worth it, she started to lose weight. From nearing three-hundred pounds she worked out and walked for her entire summer. Pound per pound she lost nearly 200 pounds she is happy with her life for once.
Her status skyrocketed. Her sophmore year she was “Queen Bee” as you could say with everything ahead. Though she is very closed to her friends she couldn’t possibly tell them she lived in The Shacks. They thought she lived in The Valks. When Daphne throws a sleepover, it is at her Aunt’s house. Who lives in The Valks. Daphne is terrified that her friends will disown her for lying to them. But, at Valkyrie Academy, a lot of the rich kids look down their noses at the kids who live in The Shaks. Daphne has a scholarship to Valkyrie. But, she lives with her dad and sister.
Now, Daphne is one of the most popular girls in school. Which gets her nervous about her living situation everyday. That’s her secret. Valkyrie, California is full of them.
Flaws:
Daphne speaks her mind. She won’t be afraid to tell someone that their acting like a dick. Her mouth always gets her in trouble.
Daphne tends to let her ‘inner wild child’ loose when at clubs or parties, and has a great time in different ways. Now, you may ask why is that a flaw? Well, sometimes being a little ‘too care-free’ can get you in trouble and make you say things you wouldn’t say or do.
As you know, she use to be fat, so sometimes she carefully watches what she eats so she won't end up like she use to be.
Living Situation:
Daphne, Diem her sister, and her father live in an apartment. Nothing glamorous. Daphne and Diem got their own room at the two-bedroom apartment. Their father, Riley, sleeps on the couch in their living room. Daphne’s room has the perfect view of the beach. The beach is their backyard. With their living conditions Daphne appreciates her life and how hard her father works for keeping the family afloat. Daphne gets her greatest drawing inspirations from the beach and she often goes to the beach just to draw and design.
Roleplay Example:
Bzzt. Bzzzt. Bzzzzt.
Daphne’s eyes fluttered open as her alarm sounded. She snuggled farther into her cheap, 100%, white cotton comforter. It was Saturday and she didn’t want to face another day here in Valkyrie. She sat up and rubbed her eyes adjusting her eyes to her all white-bedroom. She looked out her large window to the beach. It was at least eight. There were a few surfers and dog walkers littering the beach. She stretched her arms out and rolled out of bed.
Once again she looked out her window and opened it up, the ocean breeze filling her room. She closed her eyes. She loved the smell of it. It was relaxing. Maybe she should go down there before work and draw the waves. Or later tonight. Wait, there was that bonfire on the beach tonight that her friend was throwing. She had to go to that.
She slipped on some plaid pajama bottoms with her over-sized t-shirt she wore to bed and opened up her door. The ocean’s sent was replaced with pancakes as she looked to her left to the kitchen. Her dad was flipping some pancakes and watching some tv.
Their apartment was yes, very small. Walking out of her bedroom was immediately followed by the living room and adjoined was the kitchen. Her sister’s room was next to hers and the bathroom was the door next to the kitchen. It wasn’t much but she called it home.
“Morning princess,” her father said as she sat down on the torn bar stool on the other side of the counter. “Morning Daddy.”
“Are you going anywhere today?” he asked her sliding more pancakes on a large plate.
“I have work,” she said as she grabbed one of the smaller plates and put a pancake on it. Daphne worked at Vanity at the mall on the Strip. Most of her friends wondered why she worked when she clearly didn’t have to. What they didn’t know was that Daphne worked for money. They weren’t just skimming by. Daphne just like extra money here and there.
Her father started to pour more batter when Daphne stopped him. “Dad, we have plenty. Diem’s not here remember?”
Her father nodded. “I forgot she wasn’t here this weekend,” he said as he emptied the remaining down the sink.
Diem lived in the dorms at Valkyrie Academy. School was about to start and Diem had to get settled in her dorm with her dorm mate. It was her first time at the Academy and the administrative had this whole orientation for the new schooler’s.
“I can’t believe both my daughter’s are in high-school. I’m going to have no one now,” her father said as he sat next to her.
“Dad,” she interrupted. “I’m still living here. With you. Last year was hell in those dorms. I’m glad to be home.”
“But your friends aren’t,” he said as he took a bite from his pancakes, looking at her. “I just don’t know why you just can’t tell them we live here.”
Daphne rolled her eyes, “How many times have I told you. They are like the Capulets, and we Shacks are the Montagues. They look down at us.”
“But their your friends.”
“I know and I can tell them everything...just not this. I have to get ready for work now. Love you,” she said getting up and kissing her father on the cheek.
“But, you didn’t eat a thing,” he said.
She turned back around and met his blue eyes, the ones she got her’s from. “I’m going to be late. Sorry, we can do something later today. I promise.”
