Emilia Odessa-Marie Demtra:
To put it into a simple term, Emilia has never been tall. She was always the shortest person in her class, and now, at the age of sixteen, she only stands at about five foot two. A frustrating fact, but a trait nonetheless. Emilia’s dull brown hair was once below her shoulders, but one summer on pure whim, she cut it off so it stopped at her neckline, bangs cutting diagonally down her oval shaped face.
Emilia is otherwise average. She wouldn’t be considered overly skinny, but neither was she fat. It seemed she was just there. She’s not overly worried about her looks, and generally leaves her naturally straight hair down, and hardly brushed some mornings. Sleepless nights left small bags under her brown eyes, and she hardly had the time to put any sort of make up on, or much else for that matter.
Emilia hardly takes her nose out of a book. Whether it’s for school or for pleasure, this girl is always reading something. She’s gotten fairly skilled at roaming the halls of her school with a book in hand, ducking and weaving in and out of people. Occasionally she might run into something or someone, being clumsy as she is, but practice makes perfect.
Having a reserved tendency, Emilia doesn’t make a habit of talking to people she doesn’t know well. She observes those around her, throwing in small comments here and there when she feels the want to. However, like most people, once you get to know her, she will be a humorous, humble, and overall amicable person. She’s not one to back down from a challenge or a promise, and will always protect those she loves if they need her in any way.
Bitterly sarcastic comments can be heard from her occasionally, given the right time or place, but Emilia would never purposely hurt someone’s feelings, and will do anything in her power to make it better again. She never could stand it if someone hates her, even if she hates them. Emilia will try and fix things to make it seem alright once more, for her own peace of mind.
The History and Current Situation:
Born on August 7th, 1990, Emilia was not only a twin, but two months premature. Having been not quite big enough to actually be born, her heart wasn’t fully developed. Thankfully however, Emilia pulled out safely after a few painstaking weeks. Since then, nothing has gone too horribly strange or unusual. Her mother and father, like all parents, have had a few rocky weeks, but always stuck together.
Her twin brother Benjamin was larger than she was which the caused their premature state of birth. But ever since, they’ve stuck together like glue. It seemed that when they were young, they were one person instead of two. It was always Ben and Emilia. However, in the sixth grade, Emilia drew the line, commandeering her father’s office for her own space. Since that date, she and Ben have led slightly different lives, but they’ve always had each other’s backs. For protection, and for life, they are twins.
It’s a twin thing.
A few years ago, Greyason decided to go back to school. For a while, Emilia and her family had a rough time, living in an apartment in the Shaks for a couple years. Elizabeth had to work double shifts while Greyason did what he needed to. During this time, Ben and Emilia were alone a lot, which could be the cause of their unusual closeness.
Now that Greyason is out of school, he has gotten a considerably nicer job, so both parents can be home more. The family recently moved to the Valks, where they bought a fairly nice two story house. Four bedrooms, a spacious kitchen, and plenty of room for any group of people.
Emilia’s room is her space. The room was once her father’s study, but she commandeered it for her own after she learned she would have to share a room with Ben. Deep green walls bring a relaxing tone to the room, which is just as simple as its owner. A wooden bed-frame supports the place where she sleeps, which is covered with a heavy brown comforter, and stacked with huge, earth colored pillows. A wooden desk has papers scattered across it, from random homework assignments, to poetry, or other such creative writing. This is where Emilia goes to disappear for a while. It’s like a whole other home inside her actual home.
Unfortunate Flaws:
Emilia has horrible love flaws. Metaphorically, Emilia has walls. She likes to say that these walls keep out others, not allowing them to see her true self. She keeps a thick shell, but those who can get through it, won’t generally regret it. But this shell keeps people from coming in, even if they deserve it. First, you need to gain her trust, which isn’t an easy task.
Being old fashioned, she believes that the guys should be the ones to ask the girls out, and not the other way around. Generally, when she falls for a person, she falls quickly, which in some cases, keeps her from seeing obvious flaws in a person. When these flaws actually come into play, and break a relationship, Emilia spends weeks in solitude, where she keeps more to herself than normal, talking less and less, until she comes to herself once more.
Sample:
A slow breeze flitted across the tree tops, carrying with it, thin strands of brown hair. A pale hand reached towards them, tucking the choppy, shoulder length locks once again behind her ear. Brown eyes scanned the page of a large book that was in her hands, a small smile flickering to her thin lips now and again. Sunlight reflected off the stark white pages, shaded by a large oak tree.
The girl’s name was Emilia. Em if she feels comfortable enough to allow you to use her nickname. She sat under this tree often, just reading or thinking. It was nice days like these that made being out here worth it. Tan cargo pants covered her gangly legs, and a large black sweatshirt hung long on her torso. It was a simple outfit, but as if she cared about her looks much. Emilia couldn’t be considered overweight, and wouldn’t think herself pretty, and yet, some people thought she was, which she only found odd. She took almost no time with make-up, if any, unlike many of the other girls that went to Valkyrie Academy.
