LUCA. ANGELO. GIOVANNI.( IT WAS EASY TO SEE HOW THE )( DEVIL HIMSELF COULD BE PULLED OUT OF ME ) ----HE ACTUALLY SHARED A SECRET with maggie. the worse part of it was he couldn't tell anyone that his so-called 'affection' towards maggie was all a sham. an agreement between the two to try and get maggie's father to reconsider this awful arrangement. what was killing him was he couldn't tell violet or his other cousin, paolo. violet because she told him her deepest darkest secret. luca felt like he should return the favor. paolo because luca had gotten close to the newly initiated giovanni. it had been a couple days after the announcement that violet found out. "tell me you are joking. you are getting married? i didn't even know you were seeing someone! and a corinthos no less!" it was actually easier to come up with an excuse to why he was marrying maggie. "yeah," luca had told her. "maggie and i thought it would be best if we kept it under wraps. we didn't want to tell anyone. but..." luca swallowed hard, "when you want to spend the rest of your life with someone you don't want to hide it. thankfully, the corinthos' and the giovannis are on good terms. they allowed it." it was a pre-approved backstory from fausto. luca had told fausto he wanted to make it seem like they had already been dating. so there was less questions about an arranged marriage. since no one really knew there was ever a 'maggie and luca' a secret romance seemed ideal. luca remembered violet smiling. "i'm happy for you, luca. i didn't know you were in love with someone." yeah, well, neither did luca.
he told paolo when he was in los angeles gathering some personal belongings because according to fausto, luca would be staying in valkyrie a lot more now. luca visited paolo at his dorm. collefe kids looked uneasily at luca as he walked on paolo's floor, knowing he was a giovanni. luca didn't understand why paolo didn't just move into the gio mansion there in los angeles. i mean, his entire floor was scared of him. forcing some college experience sucked the fun of it. when luca got into paolo's dorm room, his roommate shot up and left without saying a word. "well, i'm getting married." paolo laughed and closed the text book he was reading. "yeah? since when?" luca sat down on one of the chairs in the small room. "since this week. her name is maggie." paolo looked at him and leaned back in his chair. "you love her?" ugh, he hated that word. especially coming from someone like paolo because romance pretty much oozed out of every pore in the kid's body, mr. romantic and all. "why the fuck would i marry her if i didn't?" paolo held his hands up in defeat. "ok, ok. i just thought you were always... i don't know... cautious in relationships. you said it yourself, you didn't want to get involved with anyone until you moved up in the ranks." paolo was right. luca often said that to paolo when he was poking fun of his younger cousin's relationship with his girlfriend. "but hey, you beat me," paolo said continuing. "at what?" luca asked. "being the first one of this giovanni generation to get married." paolo laughed as luca narrowed his eyes. "i hate you."
in addition to this horrific nightmare he couldn't wake up from, luca's bachelor pad was invaded with feminine products and lacy bras hanging on the clothesline he pinned pictures too. fausto and juan were very serious when they said they had to move in together. considering these two men were the only ones that knew that luca and maggie barely even knew each other. well, they thought this was a great way to get to know each other. though for the past week, they'd been able to avoid each other. they just made it look like she lived here if they were ever to get checked on. other than that, she did what she wanted. as far as he knew, she had an apartment herself and she was in high school, so whatever high schoolers did at night, luca didn't care. and luca luca, didn't have a chivalrous bone in his body. the gentlemen thing to do would be to let her have the bed. well, luca liked his bed, so he offered her the couch in the living room that folded out into a bed, if and when she would have to crash here. it was just hard because this loft was his space, and now, he was sharing his space. he hated it. just about as much as he hated her.
but now, he was back in valkyrie and maggie was coming over. he was going to have to find her less annoying and more standable when they were working together. he needed to put his mind at ease to make sure she could stand her own if they were ever in a situation where guns and knives weren't an option. hand-to-hand combat was important to the giovannis, because anyone could pull a trigger, it took some skill to be able to think quick and act on violence if need be. luca had called her. told her to wear something comfortable because it was time he assess her training. if she showed up wearing some ridiculous mini dress, he might as well just leave. he was hoping she would take this seriously, because he'd rather not die because of her. luca had ran before he came back to the loft to call her. he needed to clear his mind. he had wondered if she would just randomly be there when he came back. it was scary that he had to give her a key to his place. goodbye privacy.
luca finished off the rest of his ice water he had been drinking. he walked more into the center of the room. the loft, having no real walls, was one big room aside from the bathroom and small closet serving as his dark room. but it was still pretty big. he sighed and took off his shirt, wiping some of the sweat on the back of his neck and face. his muscles were still warm, he was ready. then, he heard the ancient elevator humming as it carried someone up to his level. hm, well, game on.

MAGDELENA "MAGGIE" CORINTHOSSHAK STREETS, GIOVANNI LOFT, SEPTEMBER 2007 -----yeah this was all just some big damn cakewalk for maggie. hating this situation had to be understatement of the year. having her things spread out all over creation. having to travel back and forth when she was supposed to appear all fiancee-ish for the elders was just miserable. but it had to be better than spending all of her time within spitting distance of luca. it probably wouldn't be as bad as she'd been making it out to be, but there was just so much anger toward the situation that maggie really just didn't want to consider it. maybe in time, all of this anger would fade and she could be in a decent partnership with luca. that was all this was for her, just a glorified and much, much more permanent partnership. permanent, ha. if maggie had anything to say about this there would be no...wedding. ugh even the word made her shudder. there was no way in hell this thing was going to happen. either she'd fake her way out of it or she'd just kill luca. if worse came to worse she could run for the rest of her li- alright so that was pretty much out of the question. didn't mean it wasn't a lively dream that helped her sleep at night. the only hope that either luca or maggie had was whether or not this whole fake relationship was going to be able to pass muster. if either fausto or juan caught wind that this was fake, well, then they'd be headed to the alter no matter what. still, knowing that didn't make this any easier.
-----trying to tell j.r. was the hardest part because he would hear none of it. just the idea that some twenty one year old was going to marry his eighteen year old sister was enough to anger him to the point that maggie had to hold him back to keep him from running over to luca's and pummeling him. if anything, it was a good test of strength. of course he didn't believe any part of maggie's "we've been dating for a while" spiel. somehow he could tell when she was lying, no matter how much she layered on the charm. he'd heard the rant after the night maggie had to stay the night in that dump just to get her money. he'd been there when she'd come home pissed because of her newly acquired partnership. he saw through all the lies and eventually there was no keeping it from him. still, it was nice to have j.r. know. it made staying at her place that much easier. if not then she would have had to explain to him why she was staying at her home as opposed to the house of her new hubby to be and that just would have been a monster of a lie to tell him. not like he would have believed her anyways. no, this way was much easier. not only would she have someone to talk to but all maggie had to do to keep j.r. quiet was swear him to secrecy. he knew just as well as maggie did just how detrimental it could be to both of them. plus, once calm, j.r. was rational enough to realize that faking this was the only way maggie could get out of it. god she loved having a sane person as a brother. true he may piss her off at times but at least he understood what she was doing and why. j.r. was just as eager as she was to get away from their father, if not for different reasons, and locking her up in this partnership with luca was nothing if not the stupidest idea he'd ever heard.
-----regardless of whether he knew or not, that didn't make this situation any less difficult. still, she needed to find a way to either "un"-hate luca, or learn to stand him. unfortunately for her that could only be done by spending more time with him. gag. she'd gotten his call, more like a demand, and figured what the hell. there was no getting around it anyways. after finishing her shower, maggie slid out of the bathroom, dried herself off, and slid into a sex pistols t-shirt and jean shorts. it was the closest thing she was bound to get to exercise worthy clothing. besides, what girl in her right mind, when confronted by someone she'd have to defend herself against, would say "hey wait! i need to change into my ass kicking clothes!" yeah no. so if he wasn't happy with what she was wearing, well he could just shove it right where the sun doesn't shine. she ran a brush through her hair, leaving it down to simply air dry as she continued getting ready. within ten minutes she was out the door, waving a little goodbye to j.r. as she left. "do me a favor and give him hell." j.r. said with a grumble. maggie still chuckled as she unlocked her car door and slid inside. traffic sucked which made her late getting to luca's. oh well. it wasn't by much and even so, maggie would have to care in order for that to make a difference. she looked at the seemingly abandoned building and sighed. "well here goes nothing."
-----she hopped inside the ancient elevator, listening to this thing groan as she practically crawled up to the second floor. she could have gotten there faster if there were some stairs to climb. as the elevator came to a stop, maggie opened up the doors to see luca standing in the middle of the room...shirtless. she blinked for a minute, completely struck off guard by the need to drool. what the fuck? she wasn't any run of the mill teenager. get a hold of yourself she thought to herself, heaving a sigh as she did so. "my god man put on a shirt." maggie said with a smirk as she walked inside. she set her purse down on a side table and walked further into the room. "well you beckoned?" she raked her fingers through her hair, pulling it up off her neck and tying it back into a loose ponytail. "any time you're ready cupcake." she said with a smirk as she cocked an eyebrow at him. "not like you don't already know that i can kick your ass." she loved referring to the damn near broken nose she gave luca that short time ago. it was both their first meeting and one of the greatest moments she'd gotten on luca yet.

LUCA. ANGELO. GIOVANNI.( IT WAS EASY TO SEE HOW THE )( DEVIL HIMSELF COULD BE PULLED OUT OF ME ) ----COME SPRING, THE GIRL COMING UP TO MEET HIM would be his wife. he still shuttered every time he thought of it. luca was hoping fausto would wait until she at least graduated from high school. the more he thought of this whole marriage thing, the more he found himself trying to defend her and her age than he was himself. it wasn't like he liked her, and as much as he thought it was wrong he was marrying someone still in high school, he was more concerned for her. like, he was shielding her from too-adult issues. even if she was eighteen, he thought this was too much too soon. this could also be in account to his assumptions on her feelings. girl, teenager, high school. gangster or not, she still had boobs and no matter how tough you proved to be, luca still saw them as a girl. yes... how sexist of him.
the door opened and luca's usual stone cold face appeared as she entered. while he knew that, of course, she wouldn't wear something comfortable. this was training, not a shopping spree. "my god man put on a shirt." he looked over at her. so she was looking. luca wasn't one of those guys that flaunted and flexed their muscles every time he was in a public setting. he didn't get into all that. luca was more professional than that. he liked surprising people. yeah, he might wear nice clothes all the time, but under that button down was a nicely toned abdomen. his biceps, triceps, and any other 'eps' generally were hidden under overcoats and long-sleeved t-shirts. it all paid off when girls like maggie saw and tried not to stare. luca still had his own t-shirt in his hand. he tossed it across the room, landing on the couch. he shrugged and turned back to her. "thought you were going to wear the same get-up you did the last time," he said referring to her matching hot pink bra and panties set. luca just ignored her comment of putting on a t-shirt, because he wasn't. he was still cooling down, putting it back on would be useless.
"well you beckoned?" luca started walking towards her. "and you came, honey," he said, sneering out the last part. it was easy to fake the gay little pet names in front of his uncle, but he found them a complete joke when talking about maggie. she then went on to call him cupcake and telling him that she had already kicked her ass. he held up a finger. "yeah just wait," he said in response to her first statement. "and you didn't kick my ass," he finished off, stopping in front of her. he knew he wasn't going to underestimate her, if that's what she meant. especially since the girl liked hiding that little knife of hers in place luca couldn't help but wonder. "no knives today. so... take it out wherever you're hiding it." he wouldn't have doubted if she had it, since every time he was with her, she did. and luca was the same with his gun, but that he did not have on him. it was laying on the counter in the space that was his kitchen. he could play just as dirty as she, hell, he already had when he pressed a gun to her head when they found out they were to be partners. but the ego in luca told him that he didn't even need to play dirty to win. but there were guys in this business that weren't going to take it easy on her because she was a female. something luca himself fell victim too. that was why she caught him off guard.
he crossed his arms across his semi-sweaty chest and looked down at maggie, his fiance... ugh. luca was hoping the more he said it the less he would shudder every time he thought about it. "i guess i should ask how you are doing today, hm?" he asked her. being a man hailing from only one real relationship, you could tell what kind of boyfriend he was. the more quiet and mysterious type. had his conversation moments, but more times, would rather just listen to you speak. and well, there was always the bedroom benefits, but even thinking of that with maggie made him want to throw up. she was a looker, yes, but he didn't like her. they didn't like each other, so the relationship thing they were suppose to have wasn't happening. they were suppose to get married, suppose to live together, suppose to love each other. all of which they both acted out, pretending like they were a young couple getting married. luca was just confused on how he was suppose to act and what he was suppose to think.
"unlike me," he started to explain to her, "there are going to be bad guys that aren't going to hold back with you. before we can even call each other a team, i want to make sure you can handle some positions guys can get you in," not trying to sound sexual at all, luca grinned anyway. "i don't want to worry about you... i still don't like you, but i do like me, and i don't want to die because you can't fight." luca moved slowly behind her as he talked some more, "so we're just going to run through some scenarios." someone might look onto this and think, 'aww, he wants to make sure she'll be ok.' or that 'aww, he does care.' but really, it wasn't the case at all. luca didn't care about her, he cared about himself, and since it was a well known fact that if anything happened to maggie luca was dead and vice versa. so if keeping her up to speed meant keeping himself alive, he'd do it. luca stepped behind her, wrapping his left arm around her chest and his right hand locked around her right wrist. "so, what are you going to do if i got you locked here?" he said into her ear as his chest pressed up against her back. he steadied himself for her move, being prepared for anything she would be capable of, looking for anything to lessen the blow for him.

MAGDELENA "MAGGIE" CORINTHOSSHAK STREETS, GIOVANNI LOFT, SEPTEMBER 2007 -----it had been a long time since maggie had such an...intense? look at her fighting skills. not to say she lacked them to begin with. maggie was smart, even as a child. she knew that her father didn't give a damn about protecting her. so who the hell else would? uhm, no one. that duty fell solely to maggie's shoulders. as far as she was concerned, she'd handled herself well so far. at about fifteen maggie started bribing her father's bodyguards to teach her everything they knew. once they'd shown her everything they had in their repertoire, maggie moved on to something bigger. after all, she had high expectations for where she should be going, and that included having to protect herself. she wanted to be great at it for two very blatant reasons. one, because no one else was going to protect her, and two, because she didn't want to come across as weak when it became necessary to save her own ass. maggie didn't like feeling weak. she was looked down upon enough to last her more than one lifetime. weakness on top of that would just be pathetic. she'd made a point to make herself stronger in both mind and body. she jogged, though she hated it, and she was extremely flexible, all of which was unknown to luca. he was in for a surprise and maggie was happy to give it to him.
-----yes he looked good, especially shirtless. maggie wouldn't utter such a lie as to say that he wasn't. of course, looking at him and feeling something for him were two completely different things. she looked. she liked what she saw. but then in most cases he'd open up his mouth and say something sexist and stupid that would make him the most unattractive person she'd ever laid eyes on. she should congratulate him for it or something because that wasn't something every other backwoods pig could accomplish. maybe a dunce of the year award would suffice. she narrowed her eyes at him as luca spoke about what she'd been wearing the last time they'd fought, ahem, the last time she'd kicked his ass. "ah yes, but i knew how much you were dying to see me in my underwear again and i just couldn't give you that kind of satisfaction." she said with a smirk, cocking an eyebrow at him. "not like you could satisfy me to begin with." she said under her breath, completely aware that he was walking toward her. so what if he heard? she would have to have some sort of amicable feelings toward him for that to matter. she wrinkled her nose at luca's use of such a stupid endearment. "save that for when it's more useful would you?" she scoffed at him as he spoke about her not kicking his ass. "fine, technically no. but i damn near broke your nose with my forehead. that counts in my book. but thank you for giving me another opportunity." her voice was sickeningly sweet if not completely fake. almost like she enjoyed all of this.
-----no knives. he'd known her for a little over a week and he'd already pegged her for the knife wielding demon that she was. quick study. whoda thunk. she smirked, pulling a blade out of her back pocket and handing it to luca. before he could continue, maggie raised up a finger in a "one sec" gesture and pulled off her shoe, palming another sleek, slender blade. she looked up at the look on his face when she handed him the second blade. "backup." she said simply, shrugging it off like it was nothing. "you know you're just jealous because you can't find as imaginative of hiding places for that monstrosity of a gun of yours." she said nonchalantly. how was she doing today? really? "oh please. we both know that you don't care and to be honest, i'm perfectly fine with that. so skip the pleasantries would you?" she sighed as muca began his little talk about how everyone else was the bad guy and how they wouldn't hold back. blah, blah, blah. jesus did he think she was that new to the game? she had been doing this for five years, what the hell did he think she did with her time? sit on her hands? twiddle her thumbs? oh how wrong he was. she looked up at him to see him grinning. she really wished he wouldn't do that. grinning almost made him look human and it was so much easier to hate him when she thought of him as only some sexist bastard.
-----maggie was no idiot. she knew that luca was only looking out for himself and wanted to test maggie to see if she was going to wind up getting him killed. such an underestimation would usually make her defensive, but at least this meant that maggie would get to toss him around like a sack of potatoes. that could be fun, right? she felt his body press to hers as he stepped up behind her, his arm wrapping around her body as well as grabbing her wrist. maggie was struck with two reactions, one gag reflex, and another mysterious feeling she was choosing to ignore. there was no reason to feel any sense of excitement about this aside from the free pass to lay the hurt on luca. he was a disgusting, sexist asshole who deserved nothing less that the ass whooping maggie was able to unleash. what the fuck is wrong with you! focus! "hmm," she said aloud, pretending like she'd have to think about it for a minute. maggie reared up her leg, shooting it back down atop his foot. at the same time she used her free arm, her right arm, to elbow luca in the gut, freeing her from his grip. she spun out of his hold and turned to face him, her arms crossing in front of her chest and a smirk on her lips. "you have got to do better than that or the nickname cupcake is gonna stick."

LUCA. ANGELO. GIOVANNI.( IT WAS EASY TO SEE HOW THE )( DEVIL HIMSELF COULD BE PULLED OUT OF ME ) ----HE WAS ENJOYING THAT SHE WAS looking at him like he had seen her at their first encounter. oh, how the tables had turned. naturally, she was much more... as the public would say, 'naked' even if she was wearing her underwear. luca was still clothed sans his t-shirt. but, he was a guy. this was as common as waking up. girls typically didn't walk around in underwear. or, at least the normal ones. but he really liked that she said she wouldn't give him the sanctification of luca seeing her in her underwear again. "it's nothing i haven't seen before." beautiful women walking around in barely anything? luca was a fashion photographer, part-time as of late. he'd seen enough bodies to be a good casting director for a porno. "not like you could satisfy me to begin with." she said it quietly, but he still heard it. heh, right, and all her little high school boyfriends could. not that luca would ever attempt in going down that road with her, he told her, "well, unless your little plan doesn't work, i'm the best you got." her little plan being the grand scheme to pretend they love each other and from what maggie said, would make her father reconsider because this whole thing, (ruining luca's life,) had to do with the fact that juan sr. and maggie hated each other.
luca held his palm out as she handed him the first knife. and of course, she had a back-up. luca didn't have a back-up. his fists were his back-up. that was if he was ever in the position to need a back-up. not to be cocky, (well maybe he was,) but it never came to that. he rolled his eyes. "jealous? hardly. i don't really waste my time dreaming up creative places to put a weapon." luca was starting to feed off their insulting remarks to each other. it was becoming a fuel for him. half of the time, he just wanted to make fun of her. he still was far from figuring her out, which would have to be soon, considering he wasn't going to even know his wife. ugh, there was that word again. it was still all too surreal to him. he and maggie. getting married. knowing each other for less than a week. and luca's uncle wanted to celebrate like these were two honest and willing parties joining together, not some business transaction. luca shook his head and placed the knives on the counter. he felt like a parent, asking a child to pass over something they shouldn't have. was it always going to be like this? where luca would constantly try and control maggie? he knew already she wasn't one to take direction, so the whole 'trying to control thing' was going to cause more headaches for him in the long run.
with their bodies so closely pushed together, it reminded luca of all their other close encounters. like the first night when luca had her pressed against the wall, grouping around for money he so clearly deserved. when they found out they were partners and maggie had her damn knife pressed against his family jewels as he pressed a loaded gun to her head. there wasn't any.. closeness when they found out they were getting married. luca was really almost too disgusted to hate on her like he usually did. juan sr and fausto handing both luca and maggie one fat 'fuck you' kind of made the two older men when the fight. his chest rised and fell slightly against her back as she contemplated out loud what to do. he felt like moving on. it was all about reactions. he could have already snapped her neck or broken her wrist. though he had a feeling she was doing this all for the dramatic attention she so desperately craved for, luca wanted to tell her she needed to go after her first instincts on what to do. then, she stomped on his foot, weakening him slightly as his chest fell, and then he felt a elbow connect with his chest and he let out a small 'oof!' before standing up again. she spun away from him as he rubbed the forming sore spot on his chest. a bruise, maybe. she'd have to do a lot more if she wanted to break the skin. "you have got to do better than that or the nickname cupcake is gonna stick." he laughed out loud slightly, catching his breath. "sweetie, i haven't even started yet. though, you get points, your reaction time sucks. who knows what i could have done to you in the time it took you to step on my foot." and she should feel lucky that luca was basically letting her have her way for him. he wasn't really fighting back... yet.
he walked over to her, scratching his arm. from his arm he took his hand swiftly and quickly to her neck. his other hand gripped around the side of her shoulder and roughly forced her backwards. he walked forward fast, and he didn't think once if she was able to keep up, he just reacted. pushing her roughly against the wall. by the space that was his living room. he kept a firm grip on her neck so she didn't try headbutting him, his other hand still locked on her shoulder as he pulled up slightly, though she was still able to stand up straight. though he shouldn't still feel this way, he still felt weird actually punching her. he may think women were incapable of things men could do but he wasn't a women-beater. that's why maggie confused him to much. he wanted to beat the crap out of her, but morally, it was wrong. technically, as was vice versa, but luca was going to blame society for bringing people up this way. men could hit men, women could hit men, but men hitting women? wrong. instead, luca just tossed her to the ground and it took him one step to get on top of her like she so easily did to him the first night. "ok, here we go," he said grabbing her hands and pinning them up above her head. he leaned a little bit over her, so their eyes met. "you know, while we're down here, i should ask. when your plan fails and we have to get married. are you changing your name to giovanni?"

MAGDELENA "MAGGIE" CORINTHOSSHAK STREETS, GIOVANNI LOFT, SEPTEMBER 2007 -----tough on the one hand this whole "training" thing was an insult, maggie was kind of glad it was happening. sure this was merely just a a ploy for luca in order to test whether or not maggie would be able to handle herself or whether or not she could defend herself. she understood. it was a way for luca to see whether he was working with someone valuable or someone whose ass he would have to save on a daily basis. but all of that didn't mean that maggie couldn't still enjoy all of this. maggie kind of liked it to be honest. of course the entire time she chose to ignore the fact that this was both an insult to her intelligence, her fitness, and her knowledge base of the business as a whole. still she liked that this was different from the kind of training she would get with j.r. or with any of her father's goons. it was nice to be working around someone who wasn't about to hold back because they were afraid of hurting her and thus risking their life, or because they cared about her too much in the first place to put her in harm's way. luca had no reason to hold back with her. he literally hated her as much as maggie hated him. he literally wanted to hurt her probably just as much as she wanted to hurt him. maggie was sure that luca was relishing the opportunity to hurt her, especially since any bruise or scratch could be blamed on training. hell he could probably kill her and blame it all on the training, but even that might be a stretch. maggie had the oppostie to just about any other woman's rational thinking.
-----though it was likely any other woman would shy away from physical training, the likelihood of breaking a nail and all of that, maggie was the complete opposite. pain was a learning experience. pain showed maggie what her weaknesses were, and as such, how to strengthen them. she wasn't afraid of a little pain, a few bruises, or hell even something broken. she wasn't like the prissy women of most other mob businesses. she wasn't like these trophy wives who served as nothing more than a cost to the bank account. she was a little more useful than that, even if it pissed off just about every other man in her life. juan hated her for obvious reason. j.r. most likely didn't hate her but he sure as hell didn't love what she was doing now. luca hated her because of the situation he'd been put in because of her father's hate. not that that was her fault to begin with. but at least she was starting to have a little more fun around him. or at least you could say that maggie was slightly warming up to luca. the back and forth banter, which as first she had only seen as sarcastic and sexist, was now like a little battle of the wits between them. it was actually starting to grow on her despite how stupid it had appeared to be in the beginning. it was almost something she looked forward to. a little remark from luca was just another opportunity to make some snippy or snide comment that would pick the battle up once again. it was a challenge, it was almost exciting, and it was better than hating his ever loving guts. she had to enjoy what little perks their were to this little partnership.
-----partnership. that's all it was. admitting to the possibility that this agreement between the two of them could fail was like throwing up her hands in defeat. she couldn't afford to think like she could actually wind up attached to him for forever and an eternity. i mean how much hope could there really be for the two of them? there was no way that they could actually love one another. they had only known each other for about a week and already there had been not one, not two, but almost three times that they'd threatened and/or pulled weapons on one another. how on earth could that possibly be a match made in heaven? the answer was simple, they weren't there was no way that the cosmos had come together to join them like puzzle pieces. they weren't an exact match and they never would be. maggie and luca were just too similar. they were both too driven, they were both too stubborn, and there was no way that a marriage between the two of them could ever turn out to be more than a disaster in the making.
-----ugh. the thought of this not panning out and her having to be stuck with luca as a...god forbid, lover, was just unappealing. unappealing was putting it mildly. they'd kill each other. "let's not even talk about that okay? this is going to work and by the end of it we'll both be free to sleep with whoever we want." she shuddered slightly at the thought no less. it was still a possibility if this didn't work. ugh. "uh huh, whatever you say." he was jealous, he just would never admit it. maggie didn't even know him for that long and it was easy to peg him as the kind of guy who didn't own up when he made a mistake. he'd probably just shrug it off as nothing and demand the subject be dropped. heh, yeah that was luca. she'd bet the money she'd kicked his ass for that that was luca. it was so much fun hitting him, and her enjoyment was clearly written on her face. maggie never needed an excuse to hit someone but here he was handing it to her on a silver platter. who didn't love that? "then why in the hell are you holding back. and here i thought you'd be different, that you'd prove to be some challenge." no sooner did she speak, luca's hand was around her neck, his other gripping her shoulder as he walked backwards toward the wall. maggie had to struggle to keep up, and the air was pushed from her lungs the moment she hit that wall, but in the back of her mind she was estatic. finally. she said to herself. she had been caught off guard when he tossed her to the side, more pissed off than anything that he'd tossed her like a ragdoll. "ow. shit!" she said aloud.
-----her eyes narrowed at him as he slid his body on top of hers, mimicking what she'd done to him the night they'd officially first met. she ground her teeth, pulling slightly to test his grip on her arms. solid grip. "you keep doubting this plan. do you actually want this to happen?" she said curiously as she pulled up her legs, her knees bashing into his back before they locked around his neck and pulled him backwards to the floor. though her retaliation still hadn't gotten his hands to loosen, so he dragged her with him, back on top of him once again. "because if you're not committed and just want to 'commit' then we can just stop trying and just let the wedding bells ring, dear."

LUCA. ANGELO. GIOVANNI.( IT WAS EASY TO SEE HOW THE )( DEVIL HIMSELF COULD BE PULLED OUT OF ME ) ----LUCA COULDN'T IMAGINE WHAT THE wedding was going to be like. but of course, his mind went there. it would be so strange. full-bred italians on the groom's side and a bunch of mexicans on the bride's side. if that wasn't visually strange to see, imagine what the reception would be like. he didn't even want one. pleasing guests and putting on his pretend happy face would feel more than fake. he would be completely comfortable in just some courthouse wedding with fausto and juan sr as the witnesses. that way, the could see it all being legal and everything. but you've seen the godfather, right? big family weddings with first, second, and third cousins. distant relatives he'd never met and a whole lot of maggie's relatives, whom he never met, or wanted to. luca could even see fausto throwing this whole seemingly extravagant thing here in valkyrie, because the city was like the giovannis and cortinthos' common ground now. his uncle would go for flashy, just to attract attention to the fact that two kids from gangs were getting married and joining forces... or strengthening an ally-ship. and just to shove it in the irish and russian faces of their enemies, fausto would be smiling with juan sr in a picture which would be leaked to some newspaper in the crime section and tacked onto some police board to the detective that was attempting to bring down an empire.
"then why in the hell are you holding back. and here i thought you'd be different, that you'd prove to be some challenge." he wasn't holding back. or well, he was. it was because she had boobs, because she had these sultry eyes even when fighting. luca couldn't remember the last time a guy wrapped their legs around luca's waist. see, fighting other men were so much... easier. it was all about fast movements, strength, and going for the kill. with women it was all screwed up because all these rules flew out the window. like maggie, they had a certain strategy. yes, there was strength built in there too, but it was more some well rehearsed dance based on sexual movements because let's face it, guys could never get away with rubbing up on other guys like that. she was lucky that she was born with that extra x chromosome because luca would have ripped her apart.
it pissed luca off more that her form of fighting was working on him. he should just be looking past all this, but he couldn't. he was luca giovanni for fuck's sake. the ruthless fighter with a face of an angel. and now, he was actually softening up. this girl already was invading his life, his business, and now his apartment which was the only place he could say was his. a bachelor pad now was a space for lady things and he wanted to scream. maggie let out a noise of pain and luca couldn't help but grin in satisfaction. "something wrong, baby? thought you didn't want me to make this easy?" luca held her down, as she told him he must want this. that he wanted to marry her. yeah, he doubted her plan. because he doubted a eighteen year old could best two head mafia king pins. but hey, that was just him. he gave into her little fantasy plan because it was the only one that was brought to the table. "do i want to marry you? i mistaken you as a prostitute the first time we met. that should answer your question." luca felt knees collide with his back and he faltered for a moment, giving maggie an opportunity to strike. he kept a tight grip on her wrists as she twisted until she was above him. they probably looked like they were having a wrestling match on the ground. a constant struggle of tightened muscles trying to overpower another set of tightened muscles. it was actually harder than one might think. oh yeah, just pull this person up. just, pull that arm away. just, push them off of you. add in the friction and you'd be signing another tune, there. she started spewing more crap one she was successful situated on top of him. "i am fully committed in not marrying you. you're plan is weak. it'd only work in some movie. the kind where everyone lives happily ever after."
his hands were still iron-gripping her wrists as he struggled to keep a hold and she struggled to rip them away. with all her concentration on freeing herself, he suddenly let go, but took the free second to put one hand on her side and push her off of him roughly and didn't let go until he heard her connect to the ground. he got up immediately and grabbed the sides of her shoulders and hoisted her up to a standing position. he was breathing heavily at this point, his chest rising and falling as he squeezed her arms. he frowned slightly, looking at her. he had a perfect moment to put this training session to rest. just hit her and have it be over with . he could tell her to just come back whenever, if she wanted to and their first day on the job was this friday. it was damn near confusing for him. wanting to kill her, wanting to hit her, wanting to scream at her and toss her aside like he was done. his hands slid down her arms and repositioned themselves on her wrists again. she could do a lot of things since she still had control of her legs. but something felt different because he wasn't doing anything and neither was she. what was going on? he shook his head thinking this was all part of her plan. regaining some form of the real luca he made a fist, raising it behind his ear. but he just couldn't do it. it was quiet, he could almost hear the clock on the wall ticking slowly. and then- it just happened. somehow his arm dropped and his arms found their way back to gripping the sides of her shoulders, slightly lifting her up because luca's lips met maggie's lips in a very rough and almost hungry kiss. luca couldn't even begin to explain why he did it, because he didn't even understand why he did. he was suppose to hate her, right?
luca jerked his head roughly away as soon as he realized what he was actually doing. "fuck," he muttered and released his grip on her, slightly pushing her away from him. he turned his back towards her and started walking across the loft. he raked a hand through his hair. "you should go," he said.

MAGDELENA "MAGGIE" CORINTHOSSHAK STREETS, GIOVANNI LOFT, SEPTEMBER 2007 -----it was an understatement to say that maggie liked working alone. she had lived her life doing it all herself anyways. she grew up in a house surrounded by people, but she grew up alone. aside from her sister there really hadn't been all that many influential people to pass their way through her life. maggie was fine with that, she took it where it might come, but as such she'd gotten really used to having to rely on no one but herself to get something accomplished. boy did she give her bodyguards hell for it too. maggie liked doing things on her own and as such she didn't like having to be walked to and from to any place. even as a seven year old when two of her father's biggest men would walk her to school, maggie hated it. she found ways to get away from then every day of the school week. either the men were absolutely dense or she really was a genius of a seven year old, but either way she managed to evade them nearly eighty percent of the time. she remembered those days fondly actually. one would think that the men would have gotten angry, reported it all back to juan and let him deal with his disobedient daughter, but no one ever wanted to report bad news to the boss. instead they'd turned it around. just between maggie and her bodyguards, it had been a game. how could she outsmart the goon squad and how could they find her. it was almost a daily ritual by the times things got too dangerous and the corinthos kids had been pulled from public school. but those were the days. maggie would stay inside the school late and sneak out the back when they weren't looking. she'd hurry out with the crowd and scamper off into the nearby woods to sit and giggle as the two lugs searched the school grounds for her. it was all just a fun game, and one of the easiest means for maggie to learn her craft.
-----she was after all pretty damn brilliant when you gave her the opportunity to show you. luca didn't know that because he'd never given her the chance. but he would see it soon enough. he would see that her smarts would save his ass on more than one occasion and that she was useful all around. he denied it but somewhere past the obvious disdain for her was a growing appreciation. she would bring it out of him some way. maggie knew her father was a hopeless case. he would never see eye to eye with her and he would definitely never admit to his daughter being smarter than him. so she would have to settle for second best, for her partner having some appreciation for her. and he would, eventually. had it not been for the confines of the corinthos mansion, maggie wouldn't even be here. it had to be the one biggest mistake that juan sr. had made in his entire life because he'd introduced the one person he didn't want in the business, to the business. had she remained in public school maggie probably would have grown up like every other woman in her life, shallow, vain, money-grabbing, the type of woman juan had expected his daughter to turn into. but oh no, that was not the case. it was because she'd been home schooled that maggie had gotten to see first hand just how much power and fear her father could weild. something so much stronger than what she was being taught. who wouldn't want something like that? maggie at least yearned for it like crazy. from the first instance that she'd seen her father's power, maggie had wanted it. she'd wanted to be more than the pathetic excuses of women that surrounded her and even now, maggie was sure she would some day get there.
-----though from the outside it wouldn't appear as though she'd made any progress, maggie had indeed gotten farther within the business than most would probably expect. especially since her father was so determined to get her out. he didn't even make any attempts to hide it either. anyone who would watch them would assume that it was because she was his daughter and he didn't want her getting hurt. ha. HA! as if that were anywhere close to the truth. it was just a matter of pride for the bastard. juan was taking all of the credit for maggie's genius and her ideas that had managed to keep the bodyguard turnover rate vastly better from that when juan was doing things on his own. more than that, she'd steadily been making him millions, millions that a good worker would be entitled to had she gone and done this business all on her own. but that wasn't the case. juan took all the credit, he took all of the money. fine. she didn't want it. but she would be damned if she didn't get the recognition for her ideas that she deserved. everyone now that juan corinthos was this underworld genius because he kept around good bodyguards and didn't get shot most of the time. they thought it was all his doing. how big of a blow to his ego could it possibly be if everyone found out that an eighteen year old was pulling all of the strings that made him appear like a god? he'd be laughed out of the business. since he couldn't have that it was just a matter of pushing her out. had he just up and fired her everyone would know, but if he slowly pushed her out, juan could learn her tactics and make it appear as if it had been his ideas all along. no way in hell was that happening. not while she was still breathing.
-----an angry hmph came from her lips as luca's smirk emerged. well he was obviously please with himself for making just the littlest amount of pain. that damn smirk made her bash her knees into his back that much harder. she wanted to hurt him back and if she hadn't succeeded yet, she was going to. that, and the prostitute comment had her reeling. by the time they'd rolled maggie had wound up strattling him. not somewhere she really wanted to be. "you jump to conclusions. that's all that says about you. and that's going to get you killed someday. i hope it's by my hands." she said with a sneer as she tugged on her arms. she would have very much liked to not be straddling him, that much was a given. with one last tug luca let go, shoving her in the process so that her distance brought her to the floor instead of back on top of him.
-----so there she was. hoisted back up to her feet, his hands squeezing down on her shoulders. she waited for his next move. she wanted his next move. she wanted another opportunity to hit him and here he was just frowning at her. what the hell was wrong with this guy? then like floodlights coming on in the middle of a pitch black street, a complete one hundred and eighty degree turn around, his lips were on hers, hot and hungry. what scared her the most was her response. because it wasn't an unhappy one. within milliseconds of his lips connecting with hers, maggie reacted, her hands grabbing at him and pulling him closer. god he tasted so good. no where near what she would have expected him to taste like, had she actually thought about it in the first place. he tasted like anger, revenge, and chocolate. her mind was a complete fog when he'd pulled away, standing there blinking like an idiot, maggie was pretty much frozen in place. she stumbled backwards when he pushed, that little jolt to her system alone was enough to bring her back into reality. "i-i think you're right." she said quietly, her voice betraying the shock she still felt. she turned and headed toward her purse, which conveniently lay right by the elevator door. what did she unconsciously know this was going to happen? as she knelt to pick up her things, maggie's phone went off. "what now." she grumbled as she dug through the purse to find her phone, j.r.'s number flashing on the screen. "what?" she said with an angry undertone to her voice, making her shake her head in an attempt to fight it off, all of it.
-----"i saw fausto and juan headed toward the shaks. i think they're headed your way. thought i'd give you the heads up in case you two were about to kill each other. sounds like that's the cas-" maggie hung up the phone, a brilliant idea coming to her the moment she'd heard that the elders were coming. "change of plans." maggie said confidently, sliding her phone back into her bag and moving it to a more noticeable place inside the room. "j.r. says he saw fausto and juan coming our way. i think we're expecting company." she paused to take a breath. what she was about to suggest, after what had just happened, was not going to go over well. "i need you to strip." she said bluntly, catching his surprised gaze as he turned to face her. "you heard me. strip and hop in the shower for a minute. get wet and pop back out with a towel please. i'll do the same. when we hear the elevator we'll pretend like we were in there having the best time possible and we'll shock the hell out of my father." yes it sounded like lunacy, but it would work. "go! strip and get wet. toss out your clothes too. i want to make this look real." she said as she pulled her shirt over her head, tossing it some place on the floor that it would have fallen had they been stripping one another on the way to the shower.

LUCA. ANGELO. GIOVANNI.( IT WAS EASY TO SEE HOW THE )( DEVIL HIMSELF COULD BE PULLED OUT OF ME ) ----HIS BACK WAS TURNED and his eyes tried to focus in on his refrigerator, but everything felt more like a drunken blur. and was he imagining it or did she grab on to him like she wanted it too? she did, and luca tried to remember exactly it because if this was ever going to be brought up again, he wanted to counter back and say it wasn't like she was pulling away from it. he could feel the heat rise in his cheeks and he felt a little embarrassed. that was not something luca felt, ever. he didn't know if he should say anything else. he heard her agreeing with his earlier proposition that she should leave. yeah, but what was taking her so goddamn long? couldn't she just walk to the elevator and leave? luca did notice her two knives laying on the counter where he had put them. should he grab them for her, or just leave them where they are? picking them up would mean he would have to look at her when he gave her them. however, just leaving them here gave her an invitation to come in whenever to pick them up. an awkward run in or an awkward confrontation? both choices equally sucked. but then again, maggie supposedly lived here. she'd have to come back here again. and again. and again until they were getting married. luca shuddered as he heard a distant buzz. he walked over to the kitchen counter to grab the knives. maybe if he pretended like that kiss didn't just happen then they would never mention it again and go back to hating each other.
wow. hating each other, was much easier.
as he neared the knives, he heard her giving short answers to whoever called her. the buzzing had been her phone. ugh. just leave already. before he could grab her knives she said, "change of plans." she said it louder than whoever she was talking to on the phone. it was directed towards him. he turned around and looked at her. what kiss? "what?" he asked. then she explained to him that whoever j.r was, he saw fausto and jaun sr. headed down here. guess living down here had it's advantages. fausto was the head of state, you could say. he was the face of the giovanni mafia. he shook hands with necessary people and was the type of man you thought of when you thought off the giovannis. kind of like when most people thought of the united states president when they would think of america. but, fausto had a lot of little minions, as did the president. they did the nitty-gritty stuff. even if fausto controlled and did business at places in the shaks, he was rarely - if ever - seen down here. that, was luca's job. and even if fausto's nephew lived down here, he would call and just tell him what he wanted over the phone. luca's uncle didn't have time to make personal house visits. he didn't come down here if he didn't have a reason. maggie was essentially his reason and juan was his current accomplice. they were probably checking in on them.
"i need you to strip." luca was taken aback. he scoffed a, "uh, what?" even though he was kind of already half naked. when she explained her little plan luca had to laugh. "you're serious," he said bluntly, not as a question. normally, he wouldn't have been so surprised or slightly hesitant to do so, but then that little moment a few moments ago resurfaced at the front of his mind and then confidence in her little plan went to shit in his head. they kissed, which was confusing in itself, and now she wanted him to get naked and pretend they were in the shower together like some... couple. even though this very 'non-couple' just had their lips mashed together like they something. it wasn't like he was uncomfortable about taking his clothes off, because come one, it was luca. but it just felt funny because it was her. was this even... safe? luca didn't really think so. "go! strip and get wet. toss out your clothes too. i want to make this look real." her voice shook him out of his battled reasoning and he watched as she pulled her shirt up and over her head. which would have actually been kind of sexy if he didn't like what this looked like, or what she thought 'looked real.'
luca sighed and having no shirt on himself, he kicked his shoes and socks off and dropped his shorts. tossing them in a trail towards the bathroom, he relaxed a little bit. if she was going to have fun with this, so was he. he opened the door to his bathroom and cranked the shower on immediately. he turned the shower head on and went to hot, so that at least when they were both finished, there was still some steam to pose like they were in there for a long time. lastly, he dropped his boxers and opened the door a little, looking at her and tossing the plaid boxers towards her, "that's for you," he called out and left the door ajar a little bit as he got in. he did exactly what maggie told him to do. all he did was get wet, tossed some of the excess water out of his dirty blonde hair and grabbed a towel from the hanger on the wall and wrapped it around his waist. "the shower's yours, love." he said opening the door. he put a palm to his eyes, covering them. "don't worry, i'm not looking." he wondered exactly how much time they actually had. if it was true, heads of gangs didn't have time to waste, they'd get here down as soon as possible. luca felt her moved past him and he just completely turned, his back towards her. "are you sure your dad's not going to kill me if he sees us like this?" he joked. or at least tried. because if her dad and his uncle saw them getting out of the shower, that only implied that they were having sex. untrue, but they didn't know that. luca didn't really know if that was an issue. maggie having sex before marriage or whatever the fuck people had a problem with these days.
he could tell that ancient elevator's sound at a rock concert. they were here. "they're here," he called as he heard the water go off. he still didn't turn around through. the steam alone was getting a bit much in the small bathroom. "i'll go out first. just... wait here." he opened the door, adjusting the towel one last time, like he was just putting it on. then he heard heels. only one pair of feet too. that was definitely not his uncle or maggie's father. when he saw the person stepping out of the elevator he saw the fault in maggie's shower plan.
it wasn't ex-girlfriend-proof.

YOU ONLY HOLD ME UP LIKE THIS . cause you don't know who i really am. sometimes i just want to know what it's like to be you. we're making inside crashed cars;we're sleeping through all our memories. i used to waste my time dreaming of being alive, but now i only. WASTE IT DREAMING OF YOU . - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - two weeks had passed since that night in chicago which seemed like some sort of dream glow fantasy in the far off past. if london was honest with herself, then she would have to admit that she'd been walking on a cloud since that night despite the realities of life that kept plaguing her pessimistic mind. he hadn't even called or tried to get in touch with her, and she knew she shouldn't have expected much. honestly, she hadn't really, but something deep down inside of her had wanted him to try to get in touch with her. she had to admit it to herself. she didn't know what had happened between her and luca, but whatever it was, it was complicated and london didn't do complicated well. sighing audibly to herself, she leaned forward in the seat and hung her wrist over the driver's seat. the slight movement caught the attention of the driver who currently wasn't driving but was sitting patiently in the seat, waiting for a word from her. "have you decided where you want to go, ms addington?" he asked politely, smiling ever so slightly, not sure if that was okay around the high rolling fashion designer. london forced herself to smile, but she could see her reflection in the rearview mirror, and she realized it was a meager grimace at best. giving up the effort, she pursed her lips and shook her head. "i'm going to get out here. i feel like walking. take the car back to the house, will you?" the man nodded obediently, and london gathered her purse along with what extra fabric there was of her dress and climbed out of the towncar.
as the car soundlessly pulled away from the curb, leaving her on the side of a moderately busy road in the shaks area of valkyrie, london bit her bottom lip and shifted her jaguar print purse from one hand to the other. her gray blue eyes scanned the building on the opposite side of the road, and she sighed once again to herself as skateboarders went flying past her, whooping to themselves and calling some inappropriate words at her that she chose to ignore. instead of crossing the street where she currently was, she turned to walk to the nearby crosswalk as she ran the potential conversation through her head. the morning after, still in chicago, luca had opened up to her and told her he was in valkyrie, and maybe he even wanted to spend some more time with her later. she was still new to town - they'd realized they were living in the same city once again, just in different parts of town - and he'd offered to show her around. two weeks, and if he hadn't called her, then she should just drop by his place... the address had followed. and that was that. it was now two weeks later, and she hadn't heard a word from him.
now, london addington was not the type of woman to go crawling to an ex-boyfriend's home after spending one passionate night in chicago, telling him she still loved him... blah blah blah. no, that just wasn't her. sure, she was pretty certain she still had feelings for luca, and their night spent together certainly hadn't done anything to quiet those feelings, but after two weeks of silence, she wasn't particularly ready to go running into his arms in some overlydramatic reunion. part of her - the little girl part that loved romance and knights in shining armor - wanted that, yes, but part of her - the grownup part that knew life had no happy endings - wanted to show up at his apartment and slap him across his face for his behavior. however, despite the miriad of emotions flitting through her mind as she crossed the street and walked to the building where luca lived, she really couldn't predict what would happen when she arrived at his apartment. luca disarmed her in a way no man had before. she fully suspected the probability that she would melt into the pathetic, hair-flowing, running-across-a-field-to-fall-into-his-arms sissy at the sight of him.
taking a deep breath, pausing at the entrance to his apartment building which also served as a gallery, she closed her eyes and pushed through the front door and entered. her heart was pounding so hard it reverberated in her ears, and she wondered if the other people in the lobby could hear it. she waited impatiently for the elevator and played the floor number over and over again in her head as she waited. finally, the elevator came to a rickety halt, and she stepped in, pressed the number to luca's apartment and braced herself as the elevator shrieked closed and rumbled its way upward. time passed so slowly in the elevator as it creaked its way to luca's apartment, and she was amazed that she hadn't able to hear the horrid contraption all the way where she lived in the valks before. it certainly made enough noise for about five elevators combined. when the ride slowed and the doors 'ding'ed open, london was sure she hadn't felt more relief before in her life. shaking her head slightly, she stepped out of the elevator - or almost fell after the shakey ride - and she oriented herself as she realized the doors had actually opened to the apartment and not to a hallway. her momentary surprise was stricken down as her eyes fell upon the apartment's occupant, and her heart stopped.
luca stood not far away, readjusting the towel around his waist and his bare upper body still damp, and london had to force herself to swallow over the lump that had just formed in her throat. she suddenly felt awkward in her dress, what she usually wore to work - where she had just come from - but she was also acutely aware of how incredibly delicious he looked. all of her memories of the night two weeks ago, which before had seemed so dim after fourteen days, flooded back into her mind, and if she was the type of woman to blush then she would have and brilliantly. "luca..." she started, her mouth gaping open as she tried to remember all of the conversation starters she'd come up with on the trip over here. instead of words, she could think of nothing but silence, and she instinctively moved toward him, reaching out to touch him on his arm, feeling the warm dampness on his bicep. her heart raced, and she smiled slightly, her flirtacious side kicking in with a fervor. "two weeks is a long time. did you miss me?" offering him a small smile, she realized she'd turned into the field-running-retard she had dreaded becoming, but she was beginning not to care.

MAGDELENA "MAGGIE" CORINTHOSVALK STREETS, GIOVANNI LOFT, SEPTEMBER 2007 -----this plan had it's faults, yes. all of her plans had the possibility of faults, it was just the kind of thing that happened in her line of work. there was always that one thing that you didn't count on or that detour that someone would take that would get them to a place faster or slower than originally planned. under most circumstances maggie was able to combat these. she was good about a lot of this. she was a whiz at readjusting times to fit someone's arrival. she was even better about adjusting an arsenal depending on the kind of escorts a particular person of interst had. this was the kind of crap maggie was used to. she handled it almost on a daily basis. it was one of the main things she had began to do for her father once he'd realized how smart she was. when juan wanted to arrange a meeting, maggie set up the time, the place, what bodyguards would be there, what weapons to carry, which cars to take. everything down to how many breaths a person would take in the meeting was usually known when maggie set up the job. it was no wonder why juan used her even though he didn't like her. she was analytical, she was devious, and above all else she was smarter than he'd ever hoped to be. it was something that juan could only dream of happening to his business. the only downside was her being a woman, in his eyes, but juan was lucky. had maggie been a man, brought into the business and shown the whole thing, as well as had her devious little mind, well juan would be out of the business. of course maggie still pretty much wanted him dead. she still wanted him to rot for the hellish childhood he'd given her and she wanted revenge for him treating her so, but had she only been a man, there would no longer be a juan corinthos to deal with. oh how the thought of that made her giddy with delight.
-----needless to say the moment she'd peeked out the door and saw that it wasn't her father and fausto walking into luca's loft, she knew that a change of plans needed to happen. she couldn't help but be unimpressed by this stranger, whoever in the fuck she was. how oblivious was she? not only had she simply waltzed right into the apartment, but she'd skipped right over the clothes so serendipitously strewn across the room as maggie had done. that alone should have been a hint enough for her to leave, but of course, princess oblivious had yet to catch on to the fact that she was unwelcome. maggie couldn't help the fact that her temper flared just slightly at the sight of that reddish-brown hair and those ice blue eyes. worst of all was the fact that she recognized that face. somewhere around the loft were strings of pictures that hung right next to some of her frilliest undergarments. yes, this girl was oblivious. but, who was maggie to spoil her fun. oh wait, that was exactly maggie's cup of tea. in that moment she decided that this little plan of hers was just fine the way it was. she was walking out there in just her towel, surprised as ever to see some stranger in the house. with a smirk on her face maggie turned off the water to the shower, her body significantly dripping wet, and wrapped the towel around her body. "who is it baby?" she said innocently as she flipped her hair to give it that rumpled look just before she walked out. as the bathroom door opened all the way, maggie could see a hand sliding away from luca's arm. she had to force pleasantness on this girl, up until the moment came to tear her to pieces.
-----maggie walked out of the bathroom, towel grasped tightly in her hand as she shuffled across the floor to luca's side. "oh hello." she said flashing a completely fake surprised smile, one that though faked appeared completely sincere. damn she should have been an actress. maggie had a feeling this little act was going to be worthy of a tony. "luca you didn't tell me we were expecting company." she slid her free hand up his arm, landing exactly where the stranger's hand had left. she looked up at luca innocently, eying the look on his face that pretty much screamed for her to knock of the little game. jesus and he said he was a good actor. here she was doing such a fabulous job of upstaging him. as a minute went by without either one of them speaking, maggie took the initiative. "i'm sorry. he's being incredibly rude..." maggie trailed off as she slid her hand off his arm and switched towel-grabbing hands, extending her now free hand to the stranger. "i'm maggie, luca's fiancee." she said with a pleasant smile, her hand outstretched. she could tell that whoever this was was certainly not expecting that. either that or she always wore a look on her face that screamed "help! my eyes are about to pop out of my head!" still, it did nothing but provoke maggie's desire to play this up for all it was worth. after all, it wasn't very often that a chance like this came around. she was taking it and she was going to make this poor little thing miserable. oh how fun. you could practically hear the wheels in her head moving, which would have surprised people because of her stoic outward appearance.
-----once she'd finally gotten a hand shake, maggie turned to luca, look up at him in a kind of admiration like any fiancee would look up at her husband to be with. "hun you're a little under dressed." way to state the obvious but it was just one more zing to ass on to the pile she was ready to spout at her little interruptee. "why don't you grab your things and go get dressed. i'll keep your little friend here busy until you get back." with a smile, maggie rose to her tip toes, her finger turning his chin to hers as she lightly brushed her lips against his. "now go. get dressed. we'll be here when you get back." she said sweetly as she patted him on the bum, shooing him toward the bedroom as his clothes. "i'm sorry about that," maggie said as she turned back to the stranger. "we were a little...well preoccupied and we hadn't heard you come in." she chuckled slightly, watching as luca walked past them and into the bathroom, the look on his face borderline remorseful. aw what a shame. should have known this day was coming buck-o. "so you and luca must be good friends for you to just waltz into his apartment like that. how long have you two known each other?" she asked with the ever-familiar innocent smile. she raked her fingers through her damp, cold hair as she asked, giving it a little fluff and letting her curls just fall where they may. "it's so nice of you to stop by. i'm sorry we weren't in more accommodating circumstances."
-----she heard fumbling in the bathroom and fought very hard not to burst into laughter. instead she chuckled, finally hearing the bathroom door open once again as luca came back out, this time clothed, his hair still dripping. "well don't let me keep you from chatting." maggie smiled as she looked back at luca's approach. "if you don't mind, i'm going to change into something a little more conservative." maggie knelt and grabbed her bra from just within a foot or so from the heel of the stranger, faking a blush as she stood back up and walked away from the pair. "it was nice meeting you." maggie said as she walked to the "bedroom" grabbed a pair of clothes and disappeared in the bathroom. she smirked as the door closed, looking to the side and catching her reflection in the mirror before she got to work on clothing herself.

LUCA. ANGELO. GIOVANNI.( IT WAS EASY TO SEE HOW THE )( DEVIL HIMSELF COULD BE PULLED OUT OF ME ) ----LUCA COULDN'T BELIEVE HIS EYES. this shit only happened in the movies, right? new couple has an extremely awkward run-in with an ex. except maggie and luca weren't a couple, and you might not think luca and his ex were exes if you saw them a few weeks ago. this was why he could count the number of exes on one hand, he didn't like this drama that ensued with moments like this. london approached him, and luca felt like he was struck dumb. his mind was going a mile a minute trying to process what was happening, what could happen, and how the hell could he get out of this sticky situation. every scenario he thought of would just cause this to go from bad to worse. he was a great soldier in his uncle's army. he could talk his way into and out of everything, but this was too personal. he didn't have experience with this. he couldn't... think, which caused him to get more pissed at himself. not to mention, maggie, who thought of this stupid idea in the first place. why couldn't they just sit at the table and sip coffee together. or like, sit next to each other on the couch and read the newspaper? that was normal...ish. ok, it would have looked like they were already married, but it wouldn't have looked so bad to uninvited guests.
london walked towards him and said his name. he smiled meekly, like he cared when really all he was thinking was how to get her out of here before maggie decided to turn her charm on. london's hand was then on his bicep, her fingertips colder than his skin at the moment. "two weeks is a long time. did you miss me?" yeah, he sort of did. with everything that had been going on, he did forget, a little, about his trip to chicago. but he knew for sure that if a surprised engagement hadn't been at the forefront of his mind the past week, he would have been thinking about london a lot more. "lon, this isn't really a good time..." he trailed off at the exact moment maggie's voice filtered in from the bathroom. "who is it baby?" ah shit. there goes his chance. he looked behind him and maggie was already making her way towards them. he felt london's hand leave his arm and he tried to catch maggie's eyes to tell her to just stop, but their eyes never met. luca was betting on she was doing it on purpose. instead, her eyes focused on london, looking like she just got caught with her hand in the cookie jar. "oh hello." luca had to strain himself from rolling his eyes. maggie had to be loving this. it was afterall, a situation where maggie could be in complete control. she mentioned that they were not expecting company. luca was still very surprised london was here, in his apartment. he had been half drunk that night. when he mentioned that he lived in valkyrie and if she was ever in town, she should look him up, well, he never thought she would do that. that night... it wasn't break-up sex and considering they hadn't talked since then, it wasn't make-up sex. it was just... sex.
he felt maggie's hand slid up the exact same arm london had touched moments ago. it was so strange how a touch could feel. london, touched his arm gently, almost longingly, but yet, held back a little wondering if it could be like old times. maggie on the other hand, had the roughness to her touch, a little possessiveness, and a dash of some control. as you could see, luca was involved with two completely different women, whose personalities were more dangerous together. maggie finally turned her head towards him and he looked at it. it was almost like a battle between their eyes. luca, looked at her sternly, trying to tell her to knock it off, while he knew she was wondering why he just wasn't playing along. they looked away from each other and maggie, of course, ended up doing what she wanted anyway.
"i'm maggie, luca's fiancee."
he was almost embarrassed. he looked down, not wanting to look at london. of course, this engagement wasn't in effect when luca slept with her, but london couldn't even begin to comprehend the complicate-ness of what was going on between maggie and luca. and since luca wasn't planning on telling london he was basically forced to marry her because of some fucked up mafia deal, it was only have to appear like a normal person situation. which meant unless luca and maggie met a week ago and decided to get hitched, luca cheated on his fiancee with london. that didn't really paint luca in a good light, did it? luca brought his eyes up a bit and saw maggie's outstretched arm and london not giving her hand. luca probably wouldn't have either. maggie ended up getting her precious little handshake. he actually thought was she was doing was kind of cruel. she loved to claim she was smart. she must know by now that luca and the girl in front of them were involved. recently, too. "why don't you grab your things and go get dressed. i'll keep your little friend here busy until you get back." luca shook his head. he tried finding his voice and said, "i don't think that's a good -" but he stopped when her fingers pulled his chin down and then brushed her lips against his. luca just exhaled and turned away when she finished, too pissed off to explode at his "fiancee" in front of his ex-girlfriend-turned-one night stand. wanting to get back to them as quickly as possible, luca grabbed his boxers and gym shorts off the floor and rushed back into the bathroom and started toweling himself off. he didn't take his time because he didn't trust maggie out there with her. so yeah, maybe he did still care for london's well-being. that, and even he would put his money on maggie if a fight were to happen. but, it wouldn't come to that as long as he was out there. he had only heard bits and pieces of the conversation. phrases like, "how long have you two known each other?" and "it's so nice of you to stop by." made him hurry up. he opened the door, still slightly half-naked, but he only needed to grab the cut-off t-shirt he tossed on the couch earlier.
"well don't let me keep you from chatting." luca walked past maggie as he started for london. he had been so quiet since london came in. maggie sort of controlled that conversation back there. now that he was somewhat alone with london, it was time for him to think of something quick. "let me explain," he started, because that statement didn't make him sound guilty at all. "london. this wasn't... exactly what it looked like, but i can't explain." he shook his head and said to her, "i met her after i was with you. it just happened." he had to at least sound convincing because technically, if london thought they were engaged, he should at least be happy about it or something would see off. "i'm just sorry you had to find out about it this way."

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - sometimes, one's mind is so clouded by the obvious that the smallest details go unnoticed. perhaps something as simple as the whiff of a strange perfume in the air would be completely imperceptible to someone who wishes to smell something else. even a look at a suspicious piece of clothing thrown haphazardly over an armchair could go looked-over in lieu of more important things in the mind's eye. london's mind was so clouded with the complicated memories of the night in chicago two weeks ago - the tenuous strand of hope that perhaps something could get back to normal for her - that other things fell by the wayside. she overlooked the messy apartment as her eyes fell on luca standing before her as the elevator whisked open with an ancient creak. the slight mugginess to the air was ignored at the sight of him there, so close after being so far. of course, she knew he was a bit like her - it was so easy for him to walk away and pretend as if nothing happened - so she shouldn't have been surprised that he appeared shocked at her presence. but she didn't ignore the way he reacted to her touch. he didn't pull away as she would have expected two weeks ago, but instead there was a reluctance to the way he allowed her fingers to trace over his skin softly. as if he knew he should pull away but didn't want to. even so, all good moments must come to an end. or so it seems.
just as luca began to explain that this wasn't a good time, london's brow furrowed with uncertainty for the first time since setting out on her little mission. did he not want her here after all? but then the female voice drifted its way to her, and her blood ran cold, her fingers dropping automatically from luca's arm and slapping audibly against the curve of her hip. her eyes went cold as she moved her gaze from luca to the female extracting herself from the bathroom, barely covered in a damp towel, her hair dripping wet onto her shoulders. she looked so young, but she was admittedly beautiful, the type of girl london would approve to be the face for one of her clothing lines. for the briefest of moments, raw anguish and confusion washed over london's face, but those emotions were quickly becoming erased by rage. she should have expected this. she had been betrayed before, had she not? it was nothing new, and she shouldn't have been gullible enough to believe this time would be any different. the female sidled up to luca, her movements so feline and dangerous that london was reminded of someone akin to catwoman, and she almost smiled wryly at the comparison. pure confidence poured from the other female, and she seemed right at ease with london in the room as she voice her faux surprise and draped herself next to luca. "luca, you didn't tell me we were expecting company. i'm sorry, he's being incredibly rude..." her cat eyes looked back at london and she appraised her so quickly, london was impressed despite her growing dislike of the other female. "i'm maggie, luca's fiancée."
the extended hand instantly became an affront in london's mind eye. fiancée? what the hell? how could that be? only two weeks before, luca had seem very... unattached, and now he was engaged? how very... ironic. instead of shaking the girl's hand, london only managed a cold smile and cocked her head slightly as she returned the girl's challenging look. "that would explain the nudity then, i imagine." she smiled coolly, her eyes showing no hint of happiness for the couple. ignoring her words, maggie turned to luca, stated the obvious and then ordered him away to dress himself. as the girl looked away, london had the briefest opportunity to catch her breath, glancing away to roll her eyes at the girl's tone. she knew this girl from nowhere, but she hated her already. jealousy? yes, perhaps. this was the figment of her imagination - a creature she'd imagined in situations she had been through in the past which were painfully similar - come to life in stark color and reality. besides, maggie was just as beautiful as that mysterious girl who always snuck into the back of a woman's mind when she imagined her beau was cheating. yes, she was the very embodiment of girly evil that all women hated.
"we were a little...well preoccupied and we hadn't heard you come in," maggie offered as london turned back to look at her. london offered her a cold, fake smile and nodded, determined to retain her cool despite her desire to either bolt or tear all of the pretty little hair out of maggie's pretty little head. "at least you had the decency to bathe first," london remarked, tilting her head and glancing pointedly over maggie's towel. "luca appreciates good hygiene." her smile broadened as she watched the other girl's face. not caring how she reacted to london's comment which confirmed she was intimate enough with luca to know little things about him, she raised her eyebrows as she heard maggie speak again. this time, she noticed the girl's voice had a spanish accent to it which matched her in a way london couldn't put to words. it just fit her. "so you and luca must be good friends for you to just waltz into his apartment like that. how long have you two known each other?" instantly, london picked up on the new afront maggie directed at her, and her eyes widened as if she had to think hard on the question despite the opposite. "much longer than you have, i'm sure." as her emotions raged inches behind her eyes, london forced another cold smile to her face and shifted her weight slightly, folding her purse beneath her arm with a bend of her wrist. thankfully - or regrettably? - luca fumbled out of the bathroom as maggie chuckled, obviously pleased with herself. london wanted to laugh just as jovially to show she wasn't bothered by the situation, but she just couldn't make the effort. she was too confused and stressed to do much more than turn her gaze from maggie to luca to glare at him. she imagined her gaze was colder than he'd ever seen it - even opposed to the night she'd broken up with him - and she hoped it bothered him. if she had to stand her and exchange fake pleasantries with his tawdry fiancée, then he should have to feel at least a little bit uncomfortable. maggie moved toward her, and london instinctively tensed, not liking the other girl close to her. "it was nice meeting you" were maggie's parting words as she retrieved her skimpy underwear, a phrase london doubted was true. she knew it wasn't on her part. "likewise, i'm sure," she offered, smiling only briefly, unable to keep up the show now that the girl was leaving.
and then she was alone with luca once more, but this time, there was not an ounce of happiness within her. her entire body felt hot and cold simultaneously as anger and betrayal swept over her in tidal waves. she wanted so badly to punch him, but she had never needed to punch anyone before, and she honestly wasn't entirely sure how. instead, she closed her eyes and clenched her fists, forcing herself to take deep breaths. he started speaking, and she reacted by holding up a hand to silence him for a moment. "i don't give a damn if you can explain, luca," she stated, opening her eyes as she spoke his name. he had remained a safe distance away from her which she decided was a healthy decision on his part. "what is there to explain? she said she's your fiancée. that's not hard to understand." she was shaking with anger now, her earrings bouncing lightly against her neck. breathing deeply, she tried so desperately to push away the visions of their night two weeks before. it obviously meant nothing to him, and she would make it mean nothing to her. "london. this wasn't... exactly what it looked like, but i can't explain." hearing his feeble explanation made her seeth with fury. he wanted to explain, but he couldn't? how did that make sense? "well, it looked like you were fucking your fiancée in the shower," she managed, offering him a bitter smile, her eyes flashing with her anger. "you don't need to go into details."
but he seemed set to humor her despite her dislike of the concept. "i met her after i was with you. it just happened." it just... happened... what the hell? "getting engaged doesn't just happen!" she snapped, whipping out her arm and pointing at nothing in particular, just needing to make a movement to express her emotions. suddenly, she felt tears rising to her eyes, but she refused to cry. part of it was caused by anger, but the stronger part was the pain she was feeling. "getting engaged isn't something you just... fall into." she had been engaged once, and she remembered the slow, easy process that had happened beforehand. she'd dated cooper for several months before they even thought about it. had luca been dating this girl the whole time? even while he had slept with her? "it's nice to know that having sex with me didn't even leave an impression on you. just a drunken lay, right?" she commented, snorting and turning her back on him. she started walking for the elevator, knowing he wouldn't follow her. why should he? he had a goddess, probably naked, in his bathroom right now, and london was merely a fashion designer from his past. "i'm just sorry you had to find out about it this way," came his voice from behind her just as she reached the elevator. she halted and pulled her head up, taking in a deep breath. she wished he would just leave it alone. if he hadn't said that, with that tone in his voice, then she could have walked away and forgotten the whole thing in a day or two. something about his tone, however, told her that he really meant it whether he could do anything about it or not. even so, london wasn't prepared to forgive him that easily.
turning back to face him, she closed the space between them in a few strides and struck out at him, slapping him hard across the face. glaring at him, she frowned angrily before speaking. "fuck you, luca." with that, she turned and headed for the elevator before she melted into a depressed little puddle on the floor.

MAGDELENA "MAGGIE" CORINTHOSVALK STREETS, GIOVANNI LOFT, SEPTEMBER 2007 -----oh how incredibly satisfying all of this had been. maggie couldn't really put her finger on it but something about all of this made her feel like the winner. like everything about it was a game. what could she say she was a born competitor. just look at the life she'd been raised in. the mob/drug business was about nothing more than competition. who could you get a one-up on? who could you ally yourself with to make you stronger? what routes could you use to make your imports unobtainable to the enemy? it was all just one big game of strategy and who's gun was bigger. strategy maggie had in the bag. who's gun? well she was a decent shot, she'd hand it to herself there, but everyone knew by now that maggie didn't like guns. she could shoot them, hell she could even kill if it was really necessary, but that didn't mean she liked having that cool, heavy hunk of metal in her grasp. it gave a person too much control. regardless of who would have the upper hand in smarts or in strength, a gun gave a person an unfair advantage. that's why she liked knives. they still gave a bit of an unfair advantage to a person in a fight, but at least against a knife there was a chance of you getting out alive. it brought people more to an even playing ground which appealed to maggie so much more than just pulling a trigger. really how satisfying could it be to point and pull and have taken a person's life. maggie felt much more satisfied when a person died by her hands, and that was only if they had deserved it first. take for instance the castillo family. these bastards had been a rival to juan sr. for all of maggie's life and even before then. jose castillo had been in kahoots with juan and had gone rogue after taking his ideas. afterwards there had been nothing but bad blood there and no way of squelching it.
-----after juan had made a calculated move against the castillos, calculated in juan's terms was "hey i'll expose you for the drug lord you are and take you out of the running for being competition." this had all happened before maggie had even been born, technically speaking j.r. had been almost four years old when it happened. the mexican police stormed the castillo base of organization and took into custody twenty or so of castillo's men. jose and his men had gotten away, regrouped, and as an act of retaliation found juan's first wife, j.r.'s mother, and shot her execution style right before j.r.'s eyes. after leaving j.r. behind to tell his father exactly what happened juan had reacted violently and struck out at the castillos wiping out every last one of those bastards in retaliation, or so he thought. god it was so hard to see those pictures only a short few days ago, pictures that at the sight of them had sent j.r. over the edge in a rage maggie had never seen before. there was huffing and puffing and yelling, so much so that maggie didn't even recognize her brother anymore. she'd always known j.r. to be the loving, big teddy bear of the family. he was a push over, at least in her case. if he loved you he loved you furiously and would go to the ends of the earth for you. but as it appeared to be, if he hated you then he wanted you and anyone you ever looked at funny dead. to see that her brother was actually capable of both sides was what had shocked her the most. how j.r. could go from happy and overly excited with widow on his lap to fuming mad...especially j.r., it was just too much for words. maybe that was why maggie acted out in front of london. maybe that was why she had to get the upper hand here, because a part of her life that she thought she could always count on to be the same had given her a jolt. j.r.'s lashing out had been the kind of reality jolt that maggie hadn't wanted but had gotten regardless.
-----london's sad attempt at comebacks did nothing to help her case. maggie was on that like a lioness on a warthog carcass, london being the stinking, rotting carcass put a smile on her face, and she wasn't giving in as easily as london may have thought. her pathetic attempts at tearing her down were like flies buzzing around her head, an annoyance but harmless nonetheless, whereas this stupid, pathetic woman really had no idea of the kind of person she was talking to. maggie wasn't the kind of girl you would expect. sure she was young but she was no where near inexperienced. she was beautiful, and she would use that to an advantage in a second. she was also deadly when she wanted to be. maggie might seem like the eternal pacifist, trying to find strategic methods of keeping people in the business, or herself, safe, but in all reality if she hated you and had no remorse in ending your life, maggie would cut your throat herself. there was in fact a skeleton or two in her closet. there were the people who she'd given a chance and been stabbed in the back by. there were people who she'd had help her give the upper hand who then threatened all of the work she'd done to make the one step into the business she'd made. she had her reasons. though she didn't have a mile long list of people she'd hurt, like say...luca, she did in fact have a shit list that no one dare get on. it was just fact. try to screw her over and you deal with the consequences at her hand. she would kill you if she needed to, and usually she would do it with a smile on her face. "how observant of you." maggie retorted with a smirk, her shoulders shaking in laughter. "about time." this moment still tasted sweet, something at the back of her mind told her this moment would still taste sweet years from now, despite london's sad attempts at getting the upper hand.
-----"you are so right. it's great to finally get him clean. mmm, the things he does, it's almost as if he'll always be a dirty boy." she gave this strange woman no satisfaction of seeing any feature change on her face. why should she? she would have had to be offended in this case and maggie was world's from being offended. it only made her want to laugh harder. "how sweet. and yet here you are begging on his doorstep like a common tramp. something over those vast amount of years should have spelled it out to you honey." maggie could practically see the anger rising in this woman like the red line in a thermometer rising up and up as her emotions boiled over. maggie was even curious to see if her head would explode from holding this all in as horribly as she was trying to do. luca finally reemerged and maggie, happy that the damage had been done, walked off to the bathroom with a smile on her face. she dropped her towel once the door was closed and slid on her bra and sex pistols tee shirt, her panties and...well the shorts would have followed next had she had them in the bathroom with her. aw damn. she heard the conversation dwindling more than it had already been and opened up the door and leaned on the framing in time to catch luca getting a slap right across the face. ouch! maggie shot a hand to her face to keep in the laughter, making a little wave to london as she slid inside the elevator and disappeared. "well she's certainly a charmer." maggie said with a chuckle as she stood leaning against the door frame in a shirt and her skimpy panties. "i'm missing my shorts." she said in a blunt explanation before she pushed off the frame and walked into the room.
-----finally spying her shorts draped over the couch, maggie walked past luca and grabbed them, sliding her long, tanned legs one by one into their appropriate places before sliding them up and fastening them. "well that was a shot in the dark but i think it went well." she said nonchalantly as she raked her fingers through her damp hair and lifted her leg over the back of the couch, hopping over until she was seated in the right hand corner up against the armrest. "jealous ex who thought she wasn't?" she asked innocently as she looked over at luca, a pleasant smile on her face.

LUCA. ANGELO. GIOVANNI.( IT WAS EASY TO SEE HOW THE )( DEVIL HIMSELF COULD BE PULLED OUT OF ME ) ----HE WAS A SIMPLE GUY. or, at least he thought he was. situations like these happened merely with lotharios. the playboys. luca was neither of those things. this was... just bad. how badly he wanted to explain to london that it truly wasn't what it looked like. a cliche statement, he knew, but it was really true. it looked like maggie and he just got done have shower sex, but that couldn't be father than the truth. how fucked up would it sound if he said that this "happily" engaged couple just had a very confusing (and what you could say was their) first kiss. luca just felt like he owed london something. he knew maggie less than two weeks and he was engaged. he knew london longer, and had been in a relationship longer. though, neither of them could move past their own personal demons to move forward in their relationship. it was unfortunate. obviously, something was still there, or could be if luca hadn't already sealed the rest of his life away until the day he died. london wouldn't be here if there wasn't and luca wouldn't be feeling bad about it like he was right now.
while he was explaining - or attempting to explain - he had a hard time looking at her, because... well, luca felt terrible. he knew he kind of blew away all the thoughts of what she thought could happen between them. "well, it looked like you were fucking your fiancée in the shower." luca looked away. yeah, well, he couldn't argue that, because it did in fact look like that. he wanted to grab her, shake her, and tell her that he wasn't just a photographer. he wanted to tell her that he was secretive, lethal, dangerous, and a liar. that really, he was no good for her. he probably would only cause pain in the future. luca also wanted to tell her that he was a part of his family's organized crime business, and the only reason why he was engaged to maggie was to seal an allying bond between the giovannis and the corinthos'. even as luca thought about this, did he realize how crazy it sounded. "getting engaged doesn't just happen!" luca sighed. it did for him. he didn't want to argue. or, maybe he did, but he didn't want to do so with maggie probably snickering in the bathroom. "getting engaged isn't something you just... fall into." london continued, as luca just stood there, taking her anger. "well, it did for me," he said, which was actually a really honest statement.
"it's nice to know that having sex with me didn't even leave an impression on you. just a drunken lay, right?" she turned away from him. luca shook his head, even if he knew london couldn't see him. "what? no. you weren't." she started walking towards the elevator. luca wanted to stop her, but he didn't. why would he? there was nothing more he could say without revealing information that he should not. however, when he said he was sorry that she found out this way, she turned back around and walked up to him. next, he did not expect this, but london slapped him across the face. his head turned to the side a little bit on impact. "fuck you, luca." he heard her say. luca stood their dumbfounded as london got onto the elevator.
"well she's certainly a charmer." luca turned around to see maggie leaning against the door frame in a t-shirt and underwear. "she's not here any more so," he motioned to her bottom half, "you can cover up now." yeah, he was slightly bitter. upon london leaving and seeing maggie flaunting around his loft like this, it just made him angry. maggie had no idea what she just did, and he was kind of pissed at her. he turned away as she searched for her shorts. looking at some of the pictures hanging on the wall, his eyes fell on some of the ones he took of london while there were still together. everything was much more simpler then. before the lies got out of hand and she wasn't pulling away from him with her own trust issues. he sighed, training his eyes on the floor. his eyebrows knitted together as it sort of felt like he and london broke up for the second time. yes, he knew that they never dated again to begin with. he'd laugh if you thought he cried the first time. he sort of just felt bad so he got more involved with the mafia and moved on. if he did it again this time around, then he would have to do it with maggie. thanks, but no thanks. "well that was a shot in the dark but i think it went well." he turned back around, seeing maggie clothed. "you're joking, right? since when did my uncle and your father look like that?" he pointed at her. "you knew what you were doing. what was it to you to drone on your -- your little high school game?" he asked, blurting out the first things that came to mind. "yeah, luca, let's pretend to take a shower together so then my father can walk in and see i'm taking this seriously," he mimicked her as he paced a little bit in the room. "oh, but wait, that's not my father coming in. oh, well, i'm going to go with this because that's what i do and i like to act like a child," he stopped and faced her as he said this. he felt like he was scolding her and he basically was. he had a feeling that this wasn't the last of him yelling at her like this.
luca walked on over to the counter and grabbed both of her knives. he held on to the sharp ends as he walked over to her, who was now sitting on the arm of the sofa. "jealous ex who thought she wasn't?" luca handed her, her knives but didn't let go of them at first. "she had a right to think that. she wasn't up until i was told to marry you."
