OVERALL PERSONALITY: There aren't many things that could be considered admireable about Gus's personality but if you had to pin point the few traits that are affable about the boy then you'd discover a little bit about his actual self which he typically keeps securely tucked away.
Although Gus does hide most of himself from the public eye this can also come in handy because the boy's quite content with out being the center of attention. He also has a knack for showering others with compliments to keep the subject off of himself. The twenty-four year old can acctually be quite kind and is commonly all smiles when with in a big group of people, paying each and everyone around him with an appropriate amount of affection. He never really has anything nasty to say to even the ones he finds to send shivers up and down his spine - and not the good kind.
Other positives about Augustus include how he just so happens to be a sensitive soul. He has a knack for composing not only music to express his emotions but when writing a song he also throws in some lyrics. This proves he can be a passionate man even when it comes to the little things that at typically over looked. Still Gus let's this true talent of his shines for only the people he's closeest to and would never dare expose it to a soul he didn't feel super comfortable around.
Though Gus is lacking in a lot of the more positive atributes that most men seem to possess, he's overwhelmingly made up of the negative traits his gender seem to trademark.
The most noticeable trait that basically consumes the bearded wonder would probably be his fierce anger. He can be quite the hot head and it's rather unappealing and unexpected when he goes off. In a sense he can appear as though he's somewhat bi-polar in these situations. Gus can usually keep his composure around woman but when it comes to a man that's irritating him, Gus will call the guy out almost immediately. This probably has to do with his southern roots where he grew up learning that violence was the answer and the only way to settle things was with his fist. His fighting nature can get a bit frightening at times and well it turns many away from him. However, it does make most aware that you don't want to fuck with this bad ass.
Tag teaming with his anger just so happens to be what fuels it. An addiction problem nonetheless to both drugs and alcohol. He's built up a big tolerance for the dirty stuff and is almost always craving more. It's all he ever thinks about and often let's the much more important aspects of life slip right past him. It's truly sad how much the shit really controls the man's life since he was a teenager too and since Gus is a man of many insecurities it's very unlikely this will ever change.
AND WE'LL BOTH GROW OLD ,

well i don't know, i don't know, i don't know, i hope so
HOMETOWN: tennesee!
PARENTS:
father ;
George Van Zandt, 57, Preacher - "My father's always been an aggressive man and as much as I hate to admitt it, I've adopted a lot from him. Not only can my father be a cold hearted bastard he's truly phenomenal when it comes to holding grudges. The guy hasn't talked to me for at least five fucking years because I pissed in his car's gas tank. I of course had a reason and ended up paying for all the repairs and apologizing at least seventeen times a day for a full on month yet he still refuses to pay any attention to me. It's just a really shitty situation havign such a stubborn family."
mother ;
Gwenovera Houston-Van Zandt, 55, Owner of a popular southern resturaunt chain - "Unlike most mom's mine didn't care too much about her children. She's somewhat heartless and lacks that nourishing nature I once believed was implanted in every single woman ever born. Gwen's self-absorbed.
SIBLINGS:
older brother ;
Ivan Van Zandt, 26, Construction Worker - "Ivan's probably the most relaxed guy I'll ever meet. He's so soulful and can handle any situation with a calm clarity. However, like all men in my family - Ivan can have a temper and he does get quite irritated by my ungrateful ass which is why we've gotten into a brawl or two."
younger brother ;
Simon Van Zandt, 20, Student - "Simon has everything going for him. He's the prettiest out of all three of us and it's really gotten him far in the world. Still this fact a lone has made the little boy gain some arrogance and turned him into a spoiled brat. The kid's got charisma which of course makes me jealous of him."
LIVING SITUATION: not at valk.
HISTORY: Augustus Van Zandt was meant to be a true southern gentleman. Born the son of a preacher a long with his two other brothers he was born inbetween the band of boys only ended up disappointing their mother and father. Expected to grow up completely normal with little parental control the three Van Zandt childen raised one another. During these days of youth Gus actually was a decent role model. It wasn't until the family truly fell apart and my parents ended up divorcing did i turn to my sinful ways. Gus ended up having his first beer at age ten and well it wasn't until the man was eleven that he actually got drunk with his older brother, Ivan the night Mr. & Mrs. Van Zandt announced their divorce. It was painful for all of the boys even though they were well aware that the family was breaking up it still came as a shock.
This was when Gus tried that great gateway drug marijuana and boy did it open doors. He found myself being a slave to the mystical herb and this problem seemed to consumer his fragile life as he found himself becoming quite the heavy smoker once entering high school. Of course he was due for suspensions after showing up drunk and/or high on a regular basis to many of his classes. Unfortunately this happened one too many times before the school just couldn't tolerate such bad behaviour. This led to Gus's expulsion at his Tennessee high school. It made things impossible for Gus at age sixteen to do anything until his brothers agreed to help him out by bringing drugs and alcohol to him. As his siblings fed his addiction, Gus grew accustumed to drinking whiskey on his own as his temper grew larger and larger.
It wasn't until Gus was kicked out that he realized he had a problem. While living out in his Toyota for a few months, Gus left his family behidn at the age of nineteen and travelled up the East Coast. He was snorting coke & even some teak on occasion to keep him up on the open road all on his own. It wasn't until the young boy landed in New Jersey that he found himself parking on the private property of a very high mateniance professor at Princeton who found him passed out on his steering wheel. The bubbly brunette that was nearly twice Gus's age invited him in even after witnessing his blatant addiction to narrcotics and alcohol and almost automatically recrutted the kid. Since she worked in the main labratories at the prestegious academy and actually produced her own drugs and wanted Gus to sell them. This offer, of course only came up after Gus was seduced by the cougar. Arrangements for Gus to move in were shortly put in order.
However, Gus's rlationship with the forty-three year old Professor Julieanne Stevens didn't last very long. Though their friendship did grow incredibly tight knitted. As disturbing as it may sound, the relationship Julieanne and Gus have today after a year and a half of sleepign together is like mother and son. Gus trust everything she says but it may have to do with the fact that she pays for his apartment and still has him pushing her drugs on the streets. She even gives him free usage on the good days so Gus couldn't really ask for a better life at the moment only he's still filled with regret and is quite unhealthy.
Currently living the single life now in his two bedroom bachelor pad and not going anywhere at all in life besides building up a big warrant for his arrest, Gus Van Zandt is selling and using almost every drug out there. He's tried them all and although has weened himself off a vast majority of them he still is a filthy addict whose quite self-absorbed and only watching out for himself.

YOUR NAME: Chelsea or Chell.[/blockquote]
GENDER: female.
AGE: seventeen.
RP EXPERIENCE: lots & lots. i was actually here like a year or so ago. ( ;
OTHER CHARACTERS: n/a.
ROLEPLAY EXAMPLE:three full months ago augustus van zandt would never allow another soul other than his own in his run down toyota for the sheer fact that he had been sleeping on the worn backseat. gus had immediately invested in the antiqued automobile after getting kicked out of his oldest brother's place. it had been his last family member to tolerate his absurd antics until he ruined it by becoming a slave for drugs once more after promising his brother he'd stay clean inside his apartment. the rusted car purchase was an instant regret of gus's once he realized that he may as well have spent the money on drugs. knowing narcotics wouldn't have gave him much shelter he would have at least wouldn't have had to experience the first few stages of detox until he got a fix once outside the tennessee state line. still unsure as to what exactly he was doing with his life gus had made it all the way to las vegas without having to see a mechanic which seemed to be a miracle. the even more astonishing aspect of it all was that gus had enough faith in the car to make it to california's renown lake tahoe for a large pick-up that would secure his apartment's rent for the next five months at the very least.
---- unfortunately a sense of homesickness was beginning to settle inside of today's strung out chauffeur as he accelerated on the arid roads of the desert town that was mostly made up of the mischievous ones. the only reason gus had invested in a full tank of gasoline thirty minutes prior to gliding down this unfamiliar neighborhood was for the simple fact that gus was headed to the coast. it hadn't been too difficult of a task for gus to pick up connections in foreign terrain. the only thing gus found to be a burden when it came to finding a reliable drug provider was the fact that they lived out in the middle of nowhere. clenching his jaw as his car putted along the dried street he tried to make the most out of his second cup of coffee that morning.
---- wincing at his clock he realized it was now slightly past twelve and he had told the frail brunette to be on her front door step by noon if she expected a ride out of town from him. a little uneasy about giving a girl whom was practically a stranger a ride even for money, gus tried to remember why the fuck he had ever agreed. knowing it was because the girl that went by poppy morrone had one) offered to buy him a full tank two) happened to have a flirty smile and three) was the good friend of a loyal customer of gus's that had also shown interest in tagging a long for the ride but happened to cancel at the last minute. pursing his lips as he finally spotted the lanky brunette on the side of the isolated road, no doubt suffering from heat stroke at this point - gus automatically swung to the correct shoulder of the road. he had yet to inform the long limbed beauty that their friend would no longer be joining the two of them so he had a feeling she might catch her own case of the butterflies when abruptly expected to handle this awkward situation. as if he couldn't make a poorer second impression with his beat up car that had been his home but four weeks or so ago the man who had shown up with out the two's mutual friend - somehow managed to kick a thick wind of rancid humidity into the fragile female's direction with the impact of his tires's halt dangerously close to the girl.
---- putting the archaic machine in park, gus hugged himself in a fit of bashfulness as his boots clicked against the slick, solid earth beneath him. clearing his throat as he neared the young girl he'd be sharing a hotel suite with later that night since they were both only heading up north for a single night, gus fixed his hair as he joined her one the curb. laughing a little nervously as though he had a school boy crush, the strawberry blonde spoke in his soothing southern drawl - "i am incredibly sorry for keeping you waiting, ma'am." rolling his eyes as his hair managed to get out of place once more, gus became peeved by the amount of vulnerability he flaunted in front of this unknown female. knowing he'd have to make himself comfortable around this chick or else the eight and a half hours out of town together was going to make for an awkward evening. rolling his shoulders back as a silence consumed the adults, gus weakly smiled telling himself that he shouldn't waste his time impressing this broad since she was way out of his league gus knew that it was only necessary for him to behave like he did naturally around her and forget about forming anything but a weak friendship with the tanned skinned before him. even after acknowledging this rule gus still went fourth and asked - "can i help you with your bags?" as he flashed a toothy smile and proceeded to retrieve the single luggage and secure it in the toyota's trunk.
---- it was then that he had joined poppy at the front of the vehicle once more. knowing it was time to break the news to her, he scratched the back of his head while jumping around to the driver's side. instantly annoyed with the decision to step around the car on behalf that he now had to yell over the wind gus didn't waste any time. "she probably texted you already but dawn said she got sick last night so this ride will only consist of you and i." he pressed his tongue against the warm, raw insides of his cheek before slipping into the seat he tried to get comfortable in seeing that he didn't have much of a choice on account that he'd be seated in it for about one hundred and fifty-five minutes more with out stops included. buckling up, gus was thankful that his perspiration ceased with in the cooled car. his gratitude showed as his face lit up and a sweet smile grazed his lips as he eyed his co-pilot for a little longer then most girls would anticipate an ugly face like his to be starring.credit: format by lainey, lyrics by modest mouse
