PERSONAL STYLE: hester leigh has a typical southern sense of style. those checkered button ups, short jean shorts or peasant skirts? yup, she got all those piled in her suitcase. it doesn't look like hippie attire in case that's what you are thinking. she definitely doesn't look of the norm in valkyrie, that's for sure. but hester leigh is one to go with the flow and trends so her personal style is in store for a rude awakening, and she has no problem changing it. braids and pig tails also aren't dead, according to her. the pigtails are high up on her head or anything, but low pigtails, braids are hairstyles that are very common for her when she doesn't just wear it down, like she does almost all the time.
OTHER: southern accent big time!

WEAKNESSES: chocolate, alcohol, nice gentlemen,

DISLIKES: her ex-husband, judgmental people, humid weather, sunburns, suffocating atmosphere of home, headaches, restlessness and terrified anticipation, meat, people thinking she's a tramp, leaving home although it needed to be done.
FLAWS: naive, too big of a heart,
HABITS: laughing is her defense mechanism, cracking knuckles, tidying things up that aren't even hers
SECRETS: divorced, vegetarian
BEST MEMORY: Her best memory was leaving Castle Heights, Louisiana. Just packing some clothes and everything else she wanted to take in her small bag and hopping out her bedroom window so she wouldn't wake her parents. She got in one of her dad's Ford pick-ups so fast, it was a wonderful feeling though, to have the emotion on freedom. And she kept driving. Leaving that day, not too long ago was the best feeling, because finally she was able to do something according to her, not according to her parents, her ex-husband, or anyone else in the town.
WORST MEMORY: It was the day after Hester Leigh and Rick's news of divorce hit the town and she had to go into work where all the older customers looked at her as if she was crazy and un Catholic-like, which was a very terrible day for her. It almost was like since everyone knew her, that invited them to ask her why they were going to get a divorce and how awful that was. Some even went on to say that she must not have been a good wife. She hated how people talked to her like that.
OVERALL PERSONALITY: Hester Leigh can be seen as 'the girl next door' type. Cute, sweet, well-rounded. She does have quite the personality that fits right into Louisiana, but definitely sticks out in Valkyrie. She has a big smile and one of those southern drawls to match. Hester is very polite. The please and thank yous are very common for her to say. On the rare chance that she gets angry she'll probably spit out your first and last name because that's the way she talks. And her mother always use to say that to people too, it caught on to Hester.
Hester is a very small town girl. So the big city can easily overwhelm her, which brings me to she can be very naive at times. Not naive-stupid, but just naive in the sense that everyone and everything amazes her, she's a dreamer. She's not shy either, oh no. She'll go right up to you and ask you a question that peaks her interest before moving on. She's great in conversations, she can be quite the social butterfly once she's comfortable with where she is at. She did work in the food industry since she was fourteen, so being social was important. Speaking of working, she worked at a restaurant/bar that a lot of locals and sometimes tourists stopped in. Hester can be quite the flirt even if she has no intention of going home with you. She can't help it though, the 'putting out' part sometimes just happens. All the waitresses do it, they get better tips if they do so.
Another thing you should note is her insanely big heart. Hester Leigh is one compassionate young lady. She's a listener. She loves giving her friends advice on certain things. She might not always follow her own advice when getting into the said situation, but to help someone else out? That's a good feeling in your heart, according to her. She's more of a giver than a receiver. She did a lot of volunteer work in Castle Heights. There may not have been too much to do, but she loved helping out with anything.

HISTORY: In Castle Heights, it's customary where your parents choose your spouse for you. Hank and Mary Ann is no exception. Their parents were dear, old, friends, and after a year of being out of high school, Hank and Mary Ann tied the knot. Usually after the marriage, the babies would come but the young couple had a lot of trouble trying to conceive. They didn't know what the problem was and Castle Height's house doctor wasn't much help. Their parents didn't know what was wrong, but the young couple stayed loyal and faithful to each other until nine years into their marriage Mary Ann was finally pregnant. They were all overjoyed because they believed God must have a plan for them, and waiting to have children must have been put off for a reason.
Nine months later, they had Jacob. The overjoy continued on as they raised him. When Jacob was three, Mary Ann was pregnant again. Suddenly they weren't just a couple trying to have kids. Mary Ann stayed home cleaning and making dinner where raising Jacob. Hank was a fisherman on the Louisiana coast so he was always out. Hank and Mary Ann had a girl this time. They named her Hester Leigh and started trying for another kid, which they succeeded another three years later with another boy they named Hunter. After that, they stopped having kids, since the last pregnancy was a tough one and Mary Ann was told her next pregnancy could cause major problems like death for either her or the next child. So, God blessed them with three children and they were thankful for that. Two boys and a girl wedged in the middle. They were a pretty average small-town Southern family with old-school traditions that would hopefully carry on with each generation.
Growing up in Castle Heights. Well, it was no Valkyrie if that's what you're wondering. The population of CH is less than one thousand. Graduating classes of 20, give or take. It's one of those old small towns you see in scary movies. It's just a passer-by town you pass on your way to a bigger and better city. It's off the high way and has a very local bar and restaurant where a lot of tourists come and eat before going on their way. The bar is pretty much the only local hang out for teenagers and adults alike. And, it's a very religious and good-moraled town. Everyone knows everyone in CH, and there is never a need to lock your doors because besides the occasional pranks by teenagers there is never any major crime. Sound picturesque doesn't it? For some people it is, for people like Hester Leigh it definitely wasn't.
She was born with a sense of adventure, and she'd much rather run around outside than stay inside learning how to wash and dry clothes the 'right' way. Since, it wasn't like she was going to be someone someday. She was going to be a wife and mother once she graduated from high school. So between school and learning how to be a wife from her mother, Hester Leigh had a very boring life. This is always bad for a girl who was too ambitious and begging to get out of here. Her senior year she met Rick Hudson. Well, not really 'met' since everyone in that class grew up together. But met him as her fiance since her parents and his parents decided that they were going to marry. And that was that. Every time she saw him in class it was 'oh, here's my future husband' Hester Leigh didn't have anything against him. He was nice, good looking, but she wasn't in love with him. yeah, she's a hopeless romantic.
Graduating from high school at seventeen, that very next weekend she was married. She wasn't even happy on her wedding day. They moved into Rick's parents house until they could afford to buy their own house. Hester Leigh and Rick quickly realized how different they were. Like water and oil. He wanted to start a family, Hester Leigh didn't want to. He worked down at the docks with her father. Mary Ann believed that Hester Leigh was falling into the same problem she was with trying to conceive but in fact, Hester Leigh visited a clinic in another city and got onto the pill so she wouldn't become pregnant, but she kept it secret from Rick and her family. Married life wasn't what she expected her parents were breathing down her back to get pregnant and Rick picked up gambling and drinking. So when they finally moved into their own house, Rick was only home to eat, sleep, and have sex. Getting frustrated with himself often because he didn't know why Hester Leigh wasn't getting pregnant. She started yelling at him because ends were hard to meet and he was never home. So she had to pick up a job as a waitress at the local bar & restaurant.
She was a favorite there. Long red hair, young, nice body. Rick got jealous quickly that other men were looking at his wife in that way. But Hester Leigh loved it there. She became friends with the owner and waitresses. She never had many friends, so the company was nice to have. And the attention and tips she received were always an added plus. But one night, Rick found the birth control she had been hiding for the past year and he got furious. So when she came home from working late, he confronted her about it. He was already drunk, and they got into a screaming match over everything. The gambling, the drinking, the waitress job, and the pregnancies that never happened because of her. That's when he slapped her across the face. Shocked that he actually hit her, she left the house that night and went to her boss' house who was generous to let her stay that night. The next morning she walked down to the town hall and shocked everyone in the room when she said she was here to file for divorce.
Everyone tried to convince her to not go through with it. Divorce was looked down upon in CH. Divorce was a sin too, so hester Leigh was setting herself up to be shunned from the community. Rick even tried to redeem himself. But she wasn't going to have it. She went through with the divorce and was happy with it. People told her that her life was over, but she was only nineteen! She still had the rest of her life. She tried staying in CH, to continue her life as if she was still married without the being married part. She moved in with her parents, though they were extremely disappointed in her. A month after the divorce was final, the shunning and looks were becoming too much for her. One night she wrote a note to her family that said goodbye, she was leaving and she took her father's old ford red pick up truck and started heading west. She knew she had some family in Valkyrie, California. The Ellis'. Though she never met them, a place where a family was didn't sound so bad. So she's been in Valkyrie the past couple weeks, trying to set up a new life, where it isn't always planned out for her.
