Jumping a bit awkwardly off her tip toes, the barefoot blond woman turned to face her fiancé and stuck her tongue out at his silent mockery. She greatly resented her height, the reason being times like this. At only five foot two and a quarter inches, she insisted on mentioning that quarter, she stood completely dwarfed not only by Jason, but now by their Christmas tree as well, which was not making for easy decorating. "You just had to have the tallest tree on the lot, didn't you," she asked as she stepped back from the tree a step, handing the red ball to him and turning to the disorderly pile of boxes on the coffee table behind them. There were a few mostly empty boxes of a dozen colored balls they'd bought at Wal-Mart in addition to several smaller boxes of ornaments they'd picked out earlier today, the start of their collection for goodness knew how many years. It was a thoroughly exciting thought, Annie would have to admit, as she stared at the dainty little miniatures. Picking up a little flat gold ornament with a heart surrounding the etched words "Our First Christmas" and the year, she smiled to herself. Technically, no, it was not their first Christmas, but at the same time it sort of was as they'd only gone ice skating and out to eat last year so he wouldn't be too lonely without his family. It was funny what a total opposite this year was going to be.
Hanging the little gold ornament in a spot she could actually reach, Annie turned back to get another before realizing they were done. Her attention was drawn to the tv as a particularly funny part of Christmas Vacation was on, her pretty laughter filling the air as she watched the cops break in through the windows, catching Ellen in a compromising position with Clark. The movie just never got old. Walking over to Jason she stood and stared at the tree, sliding her hand into the back pocket farthest from her, giving him a tempting squeeze. "We make a pretty Christmas tree, don't we," she more stated than asked as she gazed at their clinquant creation, leaning up to gently caress his lips, her eyes shut like they always were when she kissed him. Pulling back after a minute or so and smiling at him she asked him quietly, "Do you mind if I give you one of your gifts early? I'm too excited about it to wait," she half-lied. She was excited, but that wasn't her real reason for letting him have his present early. A smile lit her lips at his response, nodding her head a bit, "You can open it when you come to bed. Which is where I'm headed now." She kissed instead his cheek before wandering back to their bedroom, an utterly excited smile on her face once she had turned from him.
Seeing little point in getting a shower before their... Christmas celebrating began, Annie pulled one of her usual nightgowns out of the her dresser drawer and tossed it on the bed, hoping Jason would have some reason or another to stall before coming in here to see his present. The nightgown she wanted for when he came in for boxers or a t-shirt; she would rather wait until he was ready to come to bed than have him see her early. Pulling a Victoria's Secret bag from beneath the bed, Ana changed as quickly as she could into the scant lace underwear, faux fur trimmed red skirt, and red bra, wincing a tiny bit in discomfort. This bra was a cup size larger than her normal, and Annie didn't suppose it would be long before her current discomfort turned her into a double d. As Jason wasn't really a breast kind of guy she doubted a little roll in the hay could be too painful, though. Staring down at herself, she frowned slightly. With her baby bump now noticeable, especially when she was naked, Annie didn't look nearly as hot as she might like, but she consoled herself in the fact that Jason liked her tummy this way, even if she didn't. Over her costume she pulled a night gown, slipped her hat under her pillow, and settled Indian style on the bed, waiting until the right time to remove her nightgown.
Gazing with a blank stare at the wall Annie's mind drifted back to the earlier part of the day, their sonogram in particular, her hand coming to rest on her abdomen without her entirely realizing what she was doing. Their baby had been rather shy at the last sonogram they'd had done, a fact that made Annie wonder if their kid really was going to be shy despite extrovert parents, but this time the technician had managed to get the baby to shift to where it was very clear their baby was a boy. Honestly, Ana had wanted a girl, but like she'd told Jason, she just had that feeling she wasn't going to get her wish, though, of course, she was more than content with a boy. Now Anabel just wanted to feel him kick, really kick, strong enough to where Jason could feel it too. Occasionally Ana felt what might be a kick, but nothing defined enough that she knew for sure that's what it was and not just her stomach's opposition to her lunch. It was all rather confusing, being a first time mom, but there was a certain sense of excitement too, despite the fact she still didn't really want this baby in the way she had hoped to want her first child.
She waited in her nightgown, acting completely casual as though merely waiting to present him with a prettily wrapped package, until she heard him finishing up in the bathroom. Pulling her disguise off and slipping her hat out from under the pillow and on over her wavy blond locks, she stretched out on her side in the sexiest way she could think of, trying to make this as much of a treat for him as possible. Normally, Ana wouldn't be comfortable doing something like this, which was what made it such a surprise, but the second she'd seen the little outfit a couple of weeks ago, the idea had popped in her head, and for some reason she just couldn't resist. It couldn't hurt to try something a bit different, they'd both enjoyed Halloween after all. And with the way things had been lately she could just sense how stressed he was, without him even needing to say a thing. Even now that they were on winter break it had only eased somewhat and all Ana wanted was for him to be his easy-going, happy self, even if it was just for a night, though she hoped it would stick around longer than that this Christmas. Seeing him a smile lit her lips, "Merry Christmas."

Jason shook his head, a smile stretching from ear to ear as he silently watched his short, blond fiancée attempting to put one of the colorful round ornaments they had picked up early in the day on a rather empty looking spot on their tall tree. He was unable to hold back his laughter as she stuck her tongue out at him, grinning at her words and rolling his dark eyes playfully. “The tallest tree on the lot wouldn’t fit in our house,” he teased her, taking the plain, fragile red globe from her hand and reaching the spot she had been aiming for with ease. Their height difference was a bit amusing at times, as he was almost a whole foot taller than her, though most of the time she seemed to make up for it by wearing very high heels to mask her short height. Still somewhat amused by her attempt to reach a higher spot on the tree, he turned to face the array of boxes scattered on the coffee table. Giving a little shake of his head, he picked out another tiny sphere. “Next year we need to start earlier when we go ornament hunting. Most of these are so plain,” he said as he hung the blue globe near the red one, giving a little sigh. His tree growing up had been filled with so many different types of ornaments; ones his parents got from their parents, ones he and Dylan had crafted in school, extremely fragile ornaments by a somewhat famous ornament designer as well as Swarovski crystal snowflakes and ice sickles had all hung on the trees from his childhood and teen years. Of course, that collection had taken much longer to put together. Theirs was only just beginning as he was reminded when he glanced at the pretty gold heart in her hands, a smile crossing his handsome face as he rested a hand on her hip and gave her a little kiss on the cheek before turning to inspect their tree.
He glanced over at the television when he heard Ana’s sweet laughter, his own, much deeper chuckle mixing in with the sound of hers when he saw what she was laughing at. Adjusting the droopy red hat on his head that he insisted upon wearing as soon as they put the tree up in their house, he smiled as Ana’s hand slipped into his pocket, feeling the little squeeze through his pants and he nodded his head in response to her statement. Sure, it looked rather similar to the display fake Christmas trees they saw at Sears and Wal Mart, but it was theirs and through the years it would get better. Jason let out a long breath as Ana leaned up to touch her lip to his, his eyes flickering shut as one hand came to rest very gently on her baby bump that had finally made it’s appearance. She wasn’t huge, but it was clear she was pregnant now even though she still had quite a few months to go until their baby was actually due. As she pulled away, he raised one of his bushy eyebrows curiously when she asked about giving him one of his presents early. Giving a casual little shrug, he grinned. “If you’re that excited about it, sure.” His other eyebrow rose a bit when she said she was going to bed as it was a little bit earlier than when they had been heading off to hit the hay, though they did have his parents and his little brother to go pick up the next day in the late morning. Luckily the house was clean other than their few boxes from their Christmas ornaments still sitting on the coffee table. He smiled as she kissed his cheek, squeezing her waist gently before she left. “I’ll meet you there in a minute,” he said, wondering what sort of present she had for him and if his mind was going in the wrong direction, though with his parents and his little brother in the house for Christmas, he couldn’t help but wonder if the same thing was on her mind that was on his.
Walking out into the garage, Jason grabbed a plain bag from the trunk of his car and headed into the bathroom, half hoping he wasn’t completely off with where Ana was going. Even if he was he doubted she’d disagree with his parents to be sharing their house for the next week and a half before they had to fly back into New York after New Years for work. Laughing a bit at himself, he pulled off the clothes he had worn throughout the day and tossed them in the hamper, putting his Santa hat back on as he put his new boxers, his nose wrinkling a little bit as he looked at his reflection. Oh, it wasn’t the boxers he was unhappy about, it was the two scars that had been on his side for nearly a year now. If there was anything about himself that he was uncomfortable with, they were it even though he made sure Ana was the only one who ever saw them. He understood why she could be self conscious about stretch marks on her stomach, which was why he had talked to his mom on the phone for a good while not too long after Ana told him she was pregnant and went out and bought her the best stretch mark removal cream on the market. Though Sophie had warned him it might not work as well as they wanted it to, he figured it was at least worth a shot; he knew how much his fiancée cared about how she looked and how fond she was of her bikinis. Shrugging, he pulled on the soft red robe and he couldn’t help but laugh at his reflection, knowing that if it was anyone other than Ana, he wouldn’t be doing this. In fact, it had only been when he saw the robes at one of the stores he had been at the other day that he thought of how much they enjoyed their Halloween together and how Ana just might like the red robe on him.
Securing the black belt around his waist, Jason stepped into their bedroom, his eyebrows raising and his mouth falling open as he saw his fiancée laying out on their bed. Clearly they had been thinking the same thing. Even with her baby bump, he thought she looked sexy and he grinned at her greeting as he walked over to her and laid down on the bed beside her, pressing his lips to hers. “Merry Christmas to you, too,” he said as he pulled his lips from hers, wrapping an arm around her waist. “You look hot,” he breathed, saying a comment that usually wouldn’t come from him. Pressing his lips to hers again, he shifted so he was kneeling above her, his one arm moving to her opposite side, their lips the only thing touching, at least until he ran his fingers through her wavy blond hair and let his tongue glide against hers. Keeping his lips on hers, his hands slid down her back as he felt for the clasp on her bright red bra, careful to keep his weight off of her as he undid her bra, his lips not leaving hers even as he carefully removed the bra, sitting it on the bed beside him as one of his hands began to drift gently down her side, all too much enjoying the feel of her bare skin.

A humorless laugh followed his comment about their ornament collection. It was indeed a rather pitiful excuse for a Christmas tree, but it was nothing they could help. The little generic ornaments were cute enough, but they were nothing special. Ana might not have had the best of childhoods, but Christmas had always been a really big deal for Mariana. After her divorce the holiday had lost some importance and Annie knew her mother had toned her decorating down even more with her daughter not there, but when Annie was little the house had looked as though Santa Claus himself had decorated it. Their tree had had every color of the rainbow and many of the ornaments had been passed down. One she remembered and had always been fond of had belonged to her mother's great-grandmother, a little cloth Virgin Mary. Everywhere you had turned in the house there had been the virgin or a version of the nativity. Her mother's love of Christmas had made it easily her favorite holiday growing up, and that really hadn't changed. She was crazy excited to start having her own Christmases with Jason and their families, so long as this year went well.
Moving to hang the little gold ornament on the tree, she smiled a bit as he touched her hip and kissed her on the cheek. It was one of the few that wasn't completely generic and Annie knew even if some of the others lost their place in years to come, this one would always have a place. After watching the Griswolds' Christmas get ruined by cousin Eddie, she turned to admire the tree herself, her hand in his pocket teasing him. She could scarcely wait to see his response to her surprise and already that playful, sexy vibe was starting to radiate off her. Really, she was kind of glad this was their last night alone before Christmas, she definitely didn't want to wait any longer. Her lips curved just slightly into a smile behind her kiss as he touched her belly. She was still in a lot of ways filled with regret that they had screwed up, but it was hard not to fall in love every time they saw their baby on the sonogram screen, and harder yet to not find her love for Jason growing along with her belly, something she hadn't thought possible. Her blond head nodded when he agreed to let her go on with her gift if she was that excited, her eyes glimmering. Kissing his cheek, she disappeared back to their room.
Ana's expectant face lit up a little bit more to see his jaw drop and his eyebrows raise, glad she had more than pleased him. She hadn't really been entirely sure what to expect out of him, but the way he was staring at her made her feel genuinely sexy for the first time since she'd begun to show. When he finally moved to come over to her, her eyes tracked off his face, grinning at his new look. It completely fit him, she decided as he rested himself beside her. She slid closer as he returned her greeting, moving as close as she could managed, her grin growing between their kisses at his words. They weren't his usual response to anything and it just made the moment that much sweeter. "You look like Santa," she teased as he moved over top of her, her lips not leaving his. "A very, very hot Santa," she purred between kisses, her hand tugging the bow out of the belt around his waist, a silence falling over them as his kiss became deeper. Her tongue caressing his right back, her back arched just a bit, hating the awkward curve of her belly that kept them from lying skin to skin, close as could be. She shifted to help him get the bra off more easily, letting his fingers play across her skin before she began to slide her hands over his shoulders and down his biceps, pushing the robe most of the way off and letting him finish the job.
Her fingers wrapped in his curls as he touched her, Annie began to want control, as she so often did, her content to let him have all the fun waning a bit. Subtly, but at the same time in the way that was more than clear between lovers, she got him to where she wanted him, sitting with his back against the pillows. Bringing one leg over him, she settled comfortably in his lap, straddling his hips. She wasn't averse to doing this other ways, but with her bulky tummy this had come to be her favorite as it gave her the closeness of his body, but to where his face was still right there and he didn't feel so far from her. Letting out a long, slow breath, she trailed her fingers down his torso before leaning back into a lip lock with him, her fingers already playing with the elastic of his boxers. She was way too aroused by the way he was so all over her to draw this out forever. Dropping her face into the crook of his neck, she kissed the skin, her breath hot, her fingers beginning to push his boxers down before realizing it wouldn't work that way very well. Laughing just slightly to herself, she moved out of his lap for the moment, finally reading the writing on his boxers with a little snicker. "Oh this is so going to get me on the naughty list," she said with an impossibly sexy smirk, her look when she glanced up at him the kind that gave him no clues to what she was about to do, only that her costume was not the extent of her present.

Yawning in the bright sunlight of their bedroom, Ana stretched as much as she could with Jason's naked form still intimately tangled up in hers. Still part way asleep, she began kissing his ear, playfully nibbling the lobe, his parents' arrival in California not at the forefront of her mind as she began brushing her fingers gently through his thoroughly messy curls. She loved waking up like this, all snuggly and adoring of each other. It was her favorite part of sex, after, of course, the actual deed. Finally getting him into a semi-responsive state, she knew she hadn't worn him out that well, Ana relaxed back against him with a heavy sigh, still not concerned about time. It wasn't like them to sleep this late. She lie there for a few minutes, silently flirting with him when her eyes widened a bit, her hand reaching over quickly to grab his by the wrist, saying his name excitedly, taking it and pressing it against her abdomen. She had been waiting for this since the moment she found out she was pregnant, a clear shift by their baby. "Feel it," she asked him with a bright look, her fingers interlocking with his from where her hand rested on top. Leaning in, she gave him a sweet kiss, pulling back to shake her head. "That's the first time he's really kicked, I think," she told him as she felt the odd little thump against the inside of her belly. She sighed a bit as it stopped, moving to give him another kiss as her hand fell away.
Sitting up part way, Ana leaned over him to check the time off the alarm clock on the table, swearing beneath her breath as she tried to kick the sheets off and get out of bed. "It's eleven forty," she exclaimed semi-hysterically as she grabbed her thong and bra from last night, shimmying into them, not about to waste time grabbing anything else. "We are so screwed," she hissed, as she rushed into her closet, grabbing anything she would look decent in front of his parents in. She hated ever having to rush, but rushing when she had to look good for something as important as picking up his family from the airport made her ten times more frenzied. Pulling an acid-washed pair of skinnies with extra elastic in the waist on with a plain, loose tank and a pair of flats that didn't really match, she headed out into the kitchen to grab her purse, a cardigan, and the keys to her car out of the bowl they kept there, bouncing on her toes expectantly.

To say the least, Jason was pleased. No, it wasn’t something he thought he would like or that they frequently did, but it was definitely a pleasing sight to see. In his eyes, even with her showing, she was sexy and he wanted her to know that. He knew that she was unhappy with the thought of losing her figure and it definitely made him feel guilty about what he had contributed to. But even so, in her red bra and mini skirt, she was downright hot. And he couldn’t help but smile as he felt her grin between their kisses. Saying she was hot wasn’t a compliment he would usually give; his usual words were something like ‘cute’ or ‘beautiful’. A slight chuckle slipped from him as she called him Santa, his lips curving upwards when she called him hot, too. His kiss deepened, his tongue moving against hers, a little sigh slipping from him as she undid the tie of his robe. However much he wanted to lie right against her, and regardless of what she said, he was afraid to put too much of his weight on her. He didn’t want to make her uncomfortable or hurt her or their child, their little boy.
He slid his red robe the rest of the way off, letting it slide off of the bed and onto the floor, the black ribbon tickling his leg as it fell. Jason moved his leg so now he was completely over top of her, still careful not to put his weight on her belly as his fingers played with her mini skirt. Sliding it down her petite legs, he moved back to where he had been before, a hand gently sliding over her stomach before coming to rest in her hair. Another small sigh slipped from him as she got him with his back up against the pillows, a lecherous look on his face as she settled herself in his lap. He loved how even with her growing belly they were still face to face, he could still get his hands all over her. The one thing that really drove him crazy was that he had absolutely no control when she was sitting in his lap. He fought back a low moan as her fingers traced down his torso, it slipping when her fingers began to toy with his boxers, his head tipping back as she kissed his neck. Rocking his head forward, he rose his eyebrows as she laughed, realizing what she was attempting to do and he chuckled a bit. “I don‘t think that’s going to work, hon,” he breathed, his fingers running down her back. Smiling as she read the print on his boxers, he laughed when she said she’d be on the naughty list. “Mmm, well, I don’t mind,”
[/b] he teased, his bushy eyebrows raising at her sexy smirk, not quite sure what to expect from her.

With a slight groan, Jason attempted to stretch, only to find his body was - as usual - wrapped around his fiancée. At first he couldn’t figure out why he had woken up when he was still rather tired, at least until he felt Ana’s lips on his ear and her fingers running through his dark curls, curls that he was sure were already incredibly messy. A small smirk crossed his face as he finally opened his eyes, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her into his chest. As she flirted with him silently, he chuckled a bit. Even when he was only half awake, she was beginning to arouse him again. He was just about to pull her on top of him again until he saw her eyes widen and felt her quickly grab his hand, resting it on her abdomen as she said his name. Being still partially asleep, he didn’t quite understand at first, at least until he felt what it was she wanted him to feel, his dark brown eyes looking from where their hands were tangled up to her blue eyes, a surprised look in them as a smile slowly started to appear on his face. “Wow,” he breathed, looking completely awestruck as he looked into her eyes, smiling as she gave him a little kiss. If her growing belly hadn’t made it seem real enough, feeling him kick definitely made it click in his mind that before too long there’d be a third person in the house.
Giving her a tight hug, he let her go and just watched as she sat up part way, his head cocking to the side a bit when she swore under her breath, still with shock for half a second when she said it was eleven forty. His family’s plane was landing in five minutes. “It’s a twenty minute drive to the airport,” he muttered, jumping out of bed and rushing into their closet, glancing around at his clothes and grabbing some that wouldn’t exactly look like he got dressed in thirty seconds, shaking his head when he realized he still needed a pair of boxers, rushing back into their bedroom and pulling out the top pair in his drawer. With his jeans on, he threw the black button down on, the black sweater over his arm as he darted into the kitchen, his button up shirt unbuttoned as he nearly collided with Ana. “The dogs…” he muttered, turning around and opening the back door, calling to them, slightly humored as the odd pair bolted outside. Snapping the door shut behind them, he headed into the garage, flashing a small smile to Ana. “They’ll be fine until we get back.”“So they land in five minutes and it’ll take them about five minutes to taxi in and actually get off the plane…”[/b] he thought aloud as he sat in the passenger’s seat of Ana’s car, for once his seatbelt not buckled as he buttoned up his black shirt. Unfolding the collar of the shirt, he slid on his black argyle sweater, folding down the collar over it before smoothing out the sweater and hooking the belt over himself. “So there’s about a ten minute gap that they’ll be there and we won’t,” he pondered, unbuttoning the sleeve buttons on his dress shirt and rolling them up over the sweater so he wouldn’t die from heat stroke in the California winter weather. Glancing over at his fiancée, he couldn’t help but laugh, running a hand through his messy curls. “Well if it‘s not obvious what we were up to…” shaking his head, he sighed, turning his eyes back to the road in front of them. Maybe the lack of traffic would cut down some of their time.
Grabbing a hold of Ana’s hand, he moved through the sparse crowds at the airport, searching for the area of the baggage claim where he had told his dad he’d meet them when he called them shortly after they were suppose to land, only to get his dad’s voicemail. It took about five minutes for him to get a call back, relieved to hear it had taken them longer than he thought to get off the plane which gave them about five more minutes than he had thought, giving them just enough time to get there. “Don’t you love how things work out?” he asked with a little laugh, running a hand through Ana’s messy blond hair. “Well, mostly.” Only a few seconds after they arrived at the baggage terminal, Jason was attacked by a much younger version of himself and he burst out laughing as he scooped up his eight year old brother, taking only a moment longer to spot his parents. He smiled at them as they wheeled their bags over, both looking rather happy, but he couldn’t help but notice how both his mom and his dad’s eyes lingered for a moment on both his hair and Ana’s before he set his brother down and gave them both a hug before they turned to Ana, looking rather happy as they gave their future daughter-in-law their greetings. “Ana, you look wonderful,” Sophie said as her eyes traced the younger woman up and down, lingering on her belly before meeting her blue eyes, a sincere look in her eyes. “So Jason didn’t tell us what you found out yesterday. Is it a boy or a girl? Or was it still being too shy to tell?” Though both Sophie and Jake had thought it was a terrible timing for their son and his fiancée to be having a baby with both of them in school, it was clear both of them were excited to have their first grandchild on it’s way.

Ana's lips stopped nibbling his ear lobe when his dark eyes opened, kissing his ear with a little girlish giggle when she noticed his smirk. How she did love him at times. Relaxing back in his arms with her head on his chest, she gently began to run her hand down over his naked stomach, slipping up enough to kiss his Adam's apple. "Oh," she purred with a fake look of surprise as she rotated her hips to slide her thigh between his legs, a self-satisfied smirk on her lips. The thought of a little morning romp between the sheets was already at the forefront of her mind when she felt it, her little boy quicken. Any thoughts of morning sex were completely dashed from her mind, her eyes widening, unable to stop herself from pulling her sleepy fiancé's hand to where she'd felt it, hoping it was strong enough for his to feel what she wanted him to. She saw the lack of comprehension in his eyes as he felt nothing and bit her lip, replaying the silent plea to her baby, Please move, please move. A smile crossed her lips when her baby did as she had asked, her eyes fixed on his face, watching the realization spread across his face as she wrapped her fingers together with his. It absolutely thrilled her to hear his breathed "wow" and she leaned in to kiss him. Sharing this with him was amazing. There was so much love between them in that moment, for each other and their baby, it made it that much sweeter, that much more special. An adoring smile was on her lips as he pulled her into a tight hug, savoring it.
The blond's eyes widened as her boyfriend nearly collided with her where she was waiting anxiously for him in the kitchen, sidestepping quickly out of his way. She glanced with amusement at his state of half-dress, about to run back to their room to grab a dress shirt and sweater so they'd better match. It was a technique Annie swore by. She let him call the dogs in from where they'd been outside overnight, their favorite place to be during the winter months it seemed. Ana started to walk into the kitchen to feed them, hating the thought of her big puppy not getting his breakfast, or lunch as the case may be, stopping when he promised they'd be fine. Her shoulders slumping for a moment and an unsure look crossing her face, she slowly headed for the garage, speeding up as she remembered they were in a bit of a hurry.
Sliding into the driver's seat of her black Cobalt, Annie pressed the button to open the garage door and did her seat belt before putting the keys in the ignition and turning the car on. She nodded her head to his out loud thinking, pulling much too quickly out of the garage. Shutting the garage door, Anabel turned the car to pull out of their driveway. Glancing over at him before she pulled out, she nodded toward his seatbelt, "You're going to want that," she advised before hitting the gas to pull out onto the street they lived on. She let out a stressed out sigh when he figured they'd only be waiting for about ten minutes, before adding as she slammed on brakes for a stop sign, "With my driving that's another five minutes off, too." If there was one thing Ana did well it was drive fast. Originally, Anabel laughed when he mentioned their appearance, looking over at him with one of those inside joke sort of looks, before her eyes widened and she reached for her purse, tossing it to him. "Hand me my eyeliner," she asked, grinning just slightly as he handed it to her. If his parents hadn't spent a week with her over the summer she wouldn't be concerned about her make up, but if she was putting nothing else on she was doing her eyeliner. It was one of those things that people she'd never lived with would notice was missing if she didn't have any on. Putting on eyeliner while driving was certainly not something the girl would recommend, but she'd been doing it since the day she'd gotten her license, and even with her crazy driving she managed to only stab herself in the eye twice, before coating her lips with light pink lip gloss.
Cutting through the crowds, Ana looked over as he pulled his phone with a picture of them on the screen out and answered it, able to hear his dad's voice over the noise of the crowd, grinning to herself before he even hung up the phone, giving him a one armed hug when he did. She shook her head when he mentioned her hair, wishing in that moment he weren't so fond of running his fingers through it when they were in bed, reaching a hand up to aid in making it look at least a bit better than it currently did, asking herself again why. Reaching the baggage area she stopped, looking around for his parents before Jason's little brother came from out of no where and was up in her fiancé's arms, making Ana laugh. Spotting their parents not far behind, Annie waved, putting on a big smile. Ana blushed as soon as she noticed the way the older couple was eying their hair, consoling herself in the fact that they'd probably overslept and had to go around with the tell tell signs of what they'd done the night before. Still, any thought of them knowing that kind of thing made her uncomfortable, even though it was obvious by her growing tummy she was definitely not abstaining when it came to their oldest son. "Oh," Ana responded with a little smile at Sophie's comment, stiffening a bit as she was looked up and down, "Thanks," she told her, gracious, but clearly not really believing it, though she would suppose his parents knew she was vain. As much as he apparently loved to talk about her, it surely had come up somehow or another.
A big grin crossed her face when Sophie asked about their last sonogram, taking Jason's hand and linking their fingers, excited. She shook her head when she asked if the baby was still being too shy for them to tell, replying creatively, "Oh no, you have a very photogenic grandson." If it were possible, her smile got even bigger at their response. Jason had started to call them yesterday, but she'd suggested they just wait until today and she was glad they had. Her mom, however, she'd gone on and called, knowing it wasn't really a huge deal to her mom. It wasn't really the timing or anything to Mariana, it just wasn't the sort of thing the woman would get excited about.
Heading out toward the parking garage where they'd parked, Annie got in the car, thankful she wasn't in the backseat when she noticed how cramped it was. Pulling onto the street they lived on, she felt some definite butterflies, nervous for her future in-laws to be seeing their house for the first time. She was so fixated on making sure in her mind that anything incriminating, like her magazines, for example, was put away. Annie wasn't sure she'd survive it if she found Sophie examining her magazine choices. She was so focused on making sure in her mind everything was as perfect as could be, she completely neglected to notice the car parked off to the side in their driveway as she pulled into the garage beside Jason's little sports car. Once everyone's bags were out of her trunk, Ana headed inside, letting Jason welcome them to what was more his house, even if it had become theirs, not sure how to phrase it herself anyway, but smiling happily all the same. "Ready for the grand tour," she asked with a teasing laugh.
Walking into the great room, Ana's eyes fell on their sad Christmas tree, before being averted when she heard in an elderly sounding Cajun-accented voice, "Anniebelle?" Instantly, she knew who it was, mainly because no one else in the world called her that, and let out her surprise a few decibels below a squeal, "Grammy!". Rushing across the room to the old woman, Annie enveloped her in a huge hug, jumping a bit on her toes like she always did when she was excited, and she definitely was excited. No one had said a thing about her grandmother coming to California for Christmas and she was completely surprised. If there was one person in her family Annie truly did like it was her grandmother. There was just an odd connection there she didn't have with anyone else, aside from her mother. Pulling back, Ana smiled as her grammy looked her up and down, eying as she always did the eyes and lips she had undoubtedly gotten from her dad's mom, before hugging her again. "My little MoonPie's all grown up," the old woman said with a smile. Remembering Jason and his family were still there, Ana looped an arm around her and headed over for introductions. "Now which one of these handsome young men is Jason," the old woman asked as she looked at the three men, well two and a boy, before her, making Annie laugh. "This one, Grammy," the blond said, dropping her arm from her grandmother to take Jason's hand, nodding to everyone else in order, "And this is my future mommy-in-law, Sophie, father-in-law, Jake, and little brother Dylan. Guys, this is my Grammy." Ana supposed it went without saying it was her dad's mom, considering she clearly wasn't from the Spanish side of the family. "Well hey, y'all," the old woman said in a friendly, slow talking voice, before turning a bit to call toward the kitchen, "Mary Anna, come on out here," which made Annie's heart sink just a touch.

He could tell she wasn’t exactly thrilled about their dogs missing their rather late breakfast, but he knew they got fed well enough that waiting another hour wasn’t going to kill them. “They can get a little extra when we get back, I’m sure they won’t mind waiting then,” Jason said as he stepped out into their garage, hoping he was right about that. He, too, hated to leave them without anything, but when they were in such a hurry he knew that they could wait. Feeling a bit guilty as he slid into the passenger’s seat of Ana’s jet black car, he sighed, working the buttons on his shirt. Jason’s eyes slid over to Annie when she said he would want his seatbelt, nodding his head in a slightly unsure way. “I need to get dressed first,” he teased as he finally got the last button done and slid the sweater over his head. “I don’t think the airport staff would be thrilled if I walked in only half dressed.”
Musing aloud, more to himself than to her, his dark eyes widened as he was thrown forward a bit at the stop sign, snapping the seatbelt over his body before finishing with his sleeves. “Yeah, well, the last thing you or the baby needs is to be in a car wreck,” he said quietly, tensing up a bit as she took off again. At least there wasn’t a lot of traffic on the road today. Though he was mostly over it, there were still times when he’d get nervous when he was in a vehicle, either when he was approaching a four way intersection where he didn’t have to stop at the same time another car was and they had to stop; he almost always slowed down just a bit to make sure the other car was doing the same thing before going through it or when he was in a car with a rather crazy driver, as Ana was today.
Catching her expression, he couldn’t help but laugh a bit, at least until her eyes widened and her purse landed on his lap. Digging through it, he finally found the black pencil she was looking for and handed it over to her, wincing as he watched her put it on while driving. If there was ever a reason he was glad he was a guy, it was that he would never have to be concerned with make up. Sure, there were other benefits, too, but that was one small benefit that he had never really realized before. “You know, we need to start thinking about names for him,” Jason said completely out of the blue. “That way we don‘t have to keep calling him ‘the baby’.” He wasn’t quite sure where the thought came from, but now that they knew what sort of names they were looking at, they could possibly come up with something. “Or even if we don’t come up with a name, we need something better,” he said with a little laugh, tensing up as she came up on a car in front of them rather fast.
It was a relief to get to the airport for more than one reason and even more of a relief to hear his dad’s voice telling them that they really weren’t all that late. A quiet chuckle slipped from him as he watched his fiancée attempting to smooth out her hair. “You know what I just realized? A hat would have solved everything,” he said, laughing before he saw his little brother bolting at him. “Hi, Ana!” the little eight year old said excitedly as he squirmed in his older brother’s arms, reaching over to give her a hug, making Jason laugh. After setting Dylan down, he grabbed his brother’s suitcase, eyeing his mother and Ana, his face falling slightly at the tone in Ana’s voice when she thanked his mom, instantly making him feel guilty. No matter how right everyone was when they said it took two, he still took responsibility for their mistake and anytime she was on her knees in front of their toilet or clearly not too thrilled about her change in appearance, he immediately blamed himself. Oh, whenever they were looking at the sonogram pictures or like earlier that morning when they had both felt their son kick, it was different, but he still knew how much she regretted it at times and it made him wish that somehow things had been different, even with him believing that everything happened for some sort of reason.
Biting his lip slightly, still sort of distracted, he turned to see his mother’s reaction as he saw his dad’s eyes light up a bit, not unlike his did when he was getting exciting news. “Really?!” Sophie exclaimed quietly, her dark brown eyes shining as she gave Annie another hug. Jason couldn’t help but chuckle a bit at his excited parents. He had been old enough when his mom had been pregnant with Dylan to remember that the y had been just as excited then, too. Dylan’s sonograms had adorned the Irving’s fridge before he had been born, not unlike Jason and Annie’s fridge was now. The only difference was that the physical changes didn’t bother Sophie nearly as much as they did Ana, though it hadn’t been Sophie’s first pregnancy. With a little chuckle, he took his fiancée’s hand and led his family down to where Annie had parked her little black car.
Jason looked at the car sitting in their driveway as Annie pulled into the garage and his eyes widened a bit, wondering how Mariana had gotten into their house before remembering she knew the code on the garage keypad and he couldn’t help but wonder if she had fed their poor, hungry puppies while they were gone. Getting out of the car, he went to the trunk and pulled out the three suitcases, laughing as his dad shooed his mom and little brother inside with Ana and helped him get their luggage. Sliding past the rest of his family, he led his dad down the hallway to where he and Sophie would be sleeping before taking Dylan’s bag into their other spare room, what would soon become their nursery, heading back out to see his soon-to-be entire family, not realizing that Ana’s grandmother was there until he heard an unfamiliar voice call out a nickname obviously meant for Annie. Standing off to the side with his family, Jason saw his dad shift his eyes from Ana and her grandmother over to their Christmas tree while Dylan bounced on the balls of his feet, looking rather bored and Sophie watched the reunion between her eldest’s son’s fiancée and her grandma. Jason couldn’t help but laugh when Ana’s grandmother asked which one of the three guys he was when he was clearly the only one near Annie’s age. He could tell right away they were going to get along much better than he got along with Ana’s mom. When the elderly lady turned away from them a bit, Jason mouthed “MoonPie?” at Ana, silently questioning where that nickname had came from, looking rather amused at the thought.
Biting his lip as Annie’s mom walked into the room, he automatically shifted so his fiancée was in front of him, though it was just slightly. It was almost an automatic reaction anymore for as far as Jason knew, the older Spanish woman still thoroughly hated him. A small smile crossed his face as Mariana entered the living room. “Mom, Dad, this is Mariana. Mariana; Sophie, Jake and Dylan,” he said, gesturing to each one of them in turn. “So it looks like a pizza night tonight, what does everyone like it?” he asked as he pulled his cell phone from his pocket, dialing the nearby pizza place’s number to get dinner for the seven of them.
A little chuckle caught in Jason’s throat as he watched his eight year old brother attempting to eat his fourth piece of pizza and when he was unable to and handed it to Jason, he took the half of piece and finished what was his sixth. Leaning against Ana, he grinned as he saw the two untouched pizzas that would be sitting in their fridge, most likely not for very long. Turning his head, he looked over to where he heard his mom rummaging around in their kitchen as she had been doing for the last half hour, using their mixer and making something or another as she ate her pizza. Walking back into the room with a bit of flour on her shirt, she smiled at the people gathered around the Tree with the TV on some random station. “I just made a couple batches of sugar cookie dough so we can roll some out once it sits in the fridge for a while,” she said, grinning as Jason and Dylan’s eyes lit up. “And this year we’re going to have more than one tray of finished cookies, right boys?” Jake said, clearly teasing his sons. “So Mariana, what do you usually cook for the holidays?” Sophie asked. Jason swore if his mom hadn’t gone to medical school, she would have gone on to be a fantastic chef. She loved to cook and her food always tasted great. It would be fun to see everyone trading recipes and seeing what kinds of traditional foods from the two very different families would show up on their dinner table this Christmas.
