MAGDELENA "MAGGIE" CORINTHOSVALKYRIE, CALIFORNIA, LUCA'S LOFT, DECEMBER 2007 -----maggie hadn't had so much experience with the rest of luca's family and she wasn't sure if that was a good or a bad thing. she was so very used to having luca being there. they'd only been partners for...how long now? it felt like forever. in a matter of speaking it had been what? weeks? months? in the way that whatever it was they had between them had changed it felt like they'd known each other forever. it wasn't so much that soul mate kind of feeling. it was a "he's growing on me" kind of feeling. the one you get when you meet someone as a kid and they just get under your skin then after a long while you meet again and things seem to change? like you have to re-introduce yourself and get to know the new person they'd become. that seemed to have happened in maggie's mind. she was so used to seeing luca as the chauvinist, sexist pig that he was. she wasn't used to seeing the human side of him that cared about what she thought about him, cared about his nephew, and who had made sure she'd been safe when she was flat drunk. the human side of him tended to make her stutter in her thinking. maybe that was why she'd kissed him last night. maybe that was why she'd pretty much dared him to kiss her only moments ago. she was partly mad at herself for the way she was reacting to him. she knew that this was bad. she was seeing new facets of his personality and it shocked her to the core. had he remained that sexist little bastard that she'd met at paul's house, well then things would have been fine. there wouldn't be that tension because he never would have kissed her, she wouldn't have this diving feeling every time she looked at him, she would want him to kiss her again and again and again. ugh.
-----besides luca, maggie hardly knew any other giovannis. there was always fausto. maggie so deeply respected the man at the same time that she wanted to strangle him. she respected him for everything he stood for. absolutely everything. she respected the fact that he put his family above all else, the fact that he incorporated that family in his business, the way he ran that business, and just the sense of confidence and power that rolled off of him in waves. it was stunning. if there was anyone maggie would find herself looking up to, it was fausto. at the same time it was almost hard to see all of that when maggie was blinded by the fact that this intelligent, powerful man was working with a tweeb like her father. did he not know how little juan actually had to do with his business nowadays? could he not see through the thick haze of doubt and cover up that her own father bathed in? because if he couldn't...well he lost a lot of points in her book. aside from fausto there had been only three other giovannis that maggie had met. there was paolo, the adorably younger gio who saw through luca and maggie's sham of an engagement to sniff out the fact that something was hidden there. the kid was smart. with some training he'd be a good little mobster. even with paolo, maggie hadn't met him more than twice. she hadn't spent more than an hour or three tops with him so she couldn't really make many judgments. then there was alberto...jr? maggie couldn't remember. that was how little she knew the man. she'd said hello to him but yesterday at the benefit and for crying out loud that had been the first she'd seen of him. she very well couldn't say much about him either because she'd known him for the shortest amount of time, minutes at that.
-----then there was violet. maggie liked her but that had been more of a reflection of her son. rocco was a brilliant and polite little boy and maggie had been completely blindsided by him. she adored him already and had spent more time with him than all of the other giovanni's combined minus luca. on the gio list of people she'd met in a time length kind of way, it would have gone luca, rocco, fausto, paolo, violet, alberto. ranging from a month or so to a minute or so. was that sad? who the hell knew. but so far maggie didn't have the slightest problem with the only giovanni female that she'd met since this whole deal had gone down. she watched with a smile as rocco tore off, still readily ignoring luca because she didn't want to see the questions in his eyes. she didn't want to feel the need to explain herself, something she knew she would feel if her gaze locked on his. besides...it felt good to pinch him. especially since he'd deserved so much more. she smiled as rocoo leap into his mother's arms, giving violet a warm wave. she wondered if violet noticed that the shirt she was wearing wasn't her own. hopefully she didn't give the mother the wrong impression about what was happening when her son was under this roof. god forbid. "it's nice to finally meet you too. i have to say, your son is a gem. he's absolutely wonderful." she laughed as violet openly mentioned luca's not mentioning her. "yeah i still don't know what's up with that but at least you know now. that's what matters." just about as soon as she'd arrived, violet was heading toward the door. "so nice to meet you violet. you too rocco." maggie said with a beaming smile, waggling her fingers at the little boy. god she adored him.
-----she didn't pay much attention as there was a little back and forth befor violet actually left. maggie wasn't too concerned about it. she lifted one leg over the other as she waited, making herself perfectly comfortable as luca walked back over toward the couch and questioned her. well damn, she had no idea that would possibly be coming the moment they were alone. big shocker there. she looked up at him innocently, cocking an eyebrow as if to say "me? pissed? oh please." she uncrossed her legs, planting her feet on the floor before she answered him. "oh please as if you could even read my mind. you have no idea what i wanted from you so don't even pretend to have a clue." she pushed off of the couch, standing within inches of him for a moment before she turned away from him. she wasn't going to give him the chance to pull that crap again. because whether she wanted to admit it or not, he had effected her. she just hadn't shown him that. turning her back to him, maggie walked out of the living room and back into the kitchen where she walked to the sink and did the only thing she could think of right now, clean. maggie tended to clean when she was tense, as a lot of women did. it was only when situations were the worst that she resorted to drinking. she pressed the lever with the back of her hand and began rinsing plates, grabbing the hose head and getting all around the items in the sink. suddenly she could feel him behind her. she didn't like feeling him behind her after the first time had gone so awry. not again. never again she wanted to say but knew she couldn't. instead, maggie turned to him, hose in hand, and she sprayed all down the front of his shirt, splashing him full on in the face as well. after he was sufficiently drenched she lifted her thumb from the hose, diverting water back through the faucet. "whoops." she said innocently before she hosed him again, this time drenching him and the floor.

----LUCA DIDN'T KNOW MAGGIE'S family. luca knew juan sr. and literally, that was it. maggie was by far more intergrating herself in his family than he was hers. luca knew her older brother, (who was around luca's age) was living in the apartment maggie was living in when she wasn't pretending to live in his. luca wondered what her brother thought of maggie's arrangement. he didn't exactly know how much the brother names j.r. knew. but knew well enough to inform the two that he saw his father and luca's uncle in the shaks. but, surely, her older brother couldn't be happy that maggie was engaged to a twenty one year old. her being in high school and everything. luca knew that if violet was still in high school, he wouldn't be so happy to hear her engaged. the chances of making it last with a high schooler was slim. unless you had a forced arrangement like he was in.
speaking of not knowing much of her family, he didn't know any about her when he though about it. he had never really asked her about school. ok, well, like he would. he didn't want a constant reminder that this was basically jailbait. luca didn't know her... favorite food or whatever.what did she like to read? did she like to read? what kind of music did she like? because if she liked any bullshit teeny bopper stuff, he really couldn't live with that. it was more than just if they truly had something in common other than a need to collect money, it was... did they have a connection? was it a strange feeling to say that luca felt like he knew her but knew nothing at all? she was a pain in his ass, clearly, but that was it. he knew the situation with her family for the most part, but just didn't know her. the past twenty four hours had been the most they spent together straight. and maybe it was the more time he was with her, the more he gradually started learning about the girl his uncle was making him marry. he knew that she was good with kids, that she was an angry drunk that liked throwing punches like the big boys. he learned that she could wear his clothes better than he could. he knew that she was a good, well, great kisser, and to top it all off, she happened to make a good breakfast. despite all the newly learned knowledge, she still felt foreign to him.
when violet and rocco left, it was like that safety net luca was hanging in was dropped and he was falling into the lion's den. maggie being the lion, and luca, well, the meat. it was completely strange that he was slightly afraid of her. no one would compare to fausto because as much as he loved his uncle, he was terrified of him. but maggie? she was an unpredictable loose cannon. and as you could see, luca liked things more when he was in control. having a handle on things tended to be his niche. with someone like maggie, he could never forsee what would happen or what was to come. he rolled his eyes at her and scoffed. "right. because you would have been so pissed if i had been ripping your clothes off instead." he followed her with her eyes as she got up and walked back into the kitchen area. ugh. some days, he just wanted to kill her. but then she would have those slight moments when he didn't mind her company. since their usual bickering was at bay, luca found it was a good idea to just offer her a ride open. he'd tell her would be best for her to go home now. there was no use for them to spend another whole day together. that would be tough and too much time would mean they would probably kill each other. they had their first job coming up. luca didn't really want to think about that and the dangers it would probably entail. he just wanted to relax today. develop pictures he had been too busy to develop, or go over to his aunt's house and catch up on normal stuff. maybe even constantino would invite him to play a max payne video game. forgetting everything physical that had happened with maggie until he next saw her again.
luca crept up behind her like he had before when they had finished breakfast. it was busy work she was doing. obviously in an attempt to avoid him. she didn't have to clean the stuff. he'd tell her now because she was looking more and more like a wife and it was a slightly depressing image he was going to have to get use to. right when luca got close, she turned around. before his brain could process anything, he felt the coldest water on his face that dripped down his neck and drenched his shirt. what was that saying? expect the unexpected? well, he sure failed since instead of the sink's hose, that could have been a gun. funny, that he was thinking that when maggie was hosing him down with water. she stopped momentarily to giggle at him before resuming the spraying. oh, was she seriously? this was quite ridiculous. though the fact that he would have to clean this all up didn't cross his mind, he reached out and grabbed the head of the hose. "you're worse than rocco," he told her and yanked it out of her hands. he turned it so it was facing her and he sprayed her, basically joining the childish game. even if he was unprepared for this attack, she had a habit of cornering herself since all he did was press her against the counter again and let the water rain down. he didn't even care that he was readily getting himself more wet than he already was. and then, he was actually laughing. after a few more seconds he dropped the hose, the sound of it bouncing off the wooden cabinets below the sink. his wet t-shirt just stuck and hung on him. he hated that feeling. like it was weighing him down. he looked down at her and brushed some of the wet strands of hair from her face. "there. who said you got to have all the fun?"

MAGDELENA "MAGGIE" CORINTHOSVALKYRIE, CALIFORNIA, LUCA'S LOFT, DECEMBER 2007 -----maggie couldn't believe how much she was actually enjoying hosing him down. let's face it. it wasn't like she and luca were party buddies. they never had fun together because, well, up until now they didn't have to. they also chose not to have fun and just make light of this whole situation. they'd been against this pairing since the moment they'd met and had been forced into not only working together, but getting married sometime later on down the line. could you blame them for not jumping up and down with joy? maggie had never known her father capable of anything like that, anything that took away her freedom, but then again she was his only child that he would do that too. ah to have daddy's love. ha. maggie was probably the only corinthos kid who didn't have the love of her father. sure j.r. was not accepting his "duty" as heir to the business but did he get any kind of reprimand? of course not. did their father ride his ass to get him to do something about it? hell no. even raoul, who was about as distanced from their father as maggie was, wasn't pushed to get the hell away from the family. no that right was reserved for maggie and maggie alone. oh goody. it wasn't so much like she cared any more. maggie had slowly started getting used to it and now it was like just another part of her life. her father would always blame her, always hate her, and always try to push her out of the business until the day came when he could point a gun between her eyes and pull the trigger himself. the man hated her. he just hated her. there were no father/daughter moments. there were no times of awareness where you might actually be able to see some semblance of love between the two. there was just nothingness there. so all in all it didn't really surprise maggie that her father just wanted her dead. it wasn't like they'd ever bonded or anything. there was nothing keeping them together. thank god.
-----that meant that when the day came for juan corinthos to point a gun at her head, maggie was justified in turning her own gun on him. the thought of doing so actually thrilled her. maggie had never hated someone as much as to want to turn a gun on them. she was adamantly against them first and foremost because they took the fun out of a kill. maggie wasn't big into taking lives. part of the whole reason behind her success when she'd started planning everything for her father was the fact that she made moves in order to save lives. the way she planned things kept her father's soldier's from dying. it made the turnover rate a little less and made training big lugs a lot easier. she wasn't a fan of taking a life unless it was justified. she liked intimidation more. intimidation was what had gotten her an unguarded pier in valkyrie's docks for her father's drug shipments. intimidation had gotten her everything and she preferred it that way. when you went looking for information and just killed someone, well they outlived their use, or did they? there was always the possibility that you still needed the person you'd just killed later on down the line. intimidation and blackmail worked wonders in that department. you could threaten someone, or someone's children, get what you need and then you could even come back later for something else with that same bit of intimidation or blackmail. it was beautiful and the best part about it? no one had to die. juan corinthos was gun happy. he hadn't had a problem with the way things were before maggie took over because he wasn't the one dying and he didn't have a care in the world. he definitely wouldn't hesitate to kill her.
-----that wasn't going to happen though. maggie was damn sure that it wasn't going to happen. her father helped bring her into this world but she would be damned if he brought her out of it. maybe that would start with maggie and luca getting along? yes they'd never been remotely good together. they were just as he'd said, like oil and water. but now that they had spent more time together...had that changed? well from her perspective she just wasn't sure. right now she was pissed at him. getting her all riled up, hoping that he would do something, only for him to go and pull that crap with her. she shouldn't have been pissed off. she should have been happy that he hadn't kissed her again and that they hadn't gotten that close once more. so why in the hell wasn't she happy about it? maybe because the more time they spent together the more and more she did want to kiss him and did want to spend more time with them. she'd come to the conclusion a while back that she would have liked luca under different circumstances. she even told herself that she would have been attracted to him if he hadn't a) called her a hooker at paul's place and b) hadn't been paired with him as a partner oh and c) hadn't been told he was going to be her betrothed. but spending time with him like this, it was making it harder for her to ignore all the reasons why she shouldn't like him and reminded herself of all the reasons why she could. they were such similar creatures. spending this much time together made it hard for her to remember all the reasons why she just wouldn't like him and gave her the many more reasons that she either wanted or needed in order to feel something more. did she actually want to feel something for him? she wasn't sure that she had that much of a say in the matter. it was just kind of happening.
-----she couldn't fight the eye roll as luca scoffed at her. uh huh. whatever. "whatever you want to believe." she said under her breath as she went automatically to the sink. this wasn't as tense enough of a time for her to break out the liquor, so cleaning was the better option that she had, even if it did anger her more because she was looking more like a wife by the minute. but as she felt him creeping up behind her again, well she just couldn't help herself. she saw the hose resting in it's little holder beside the faucet and she just couldn't stop herself. she grabbed it like it was nothing, like she was just spraying down something in the sink, when she turned the hose to luca, hitting him full on in the face. it made her feel better. usually any time maggie got the upper hand on luca she tended to feel better and looking up at him, the water dripping off his face, felt like a total victory. so much so that it made her laugh. she fought with him over the hose, her wet fingers losing hold as he grabbed the hose and turned it on her. damn that was cold. she felt the water soak her through and through, luca's white shirt sticking to her skin like it was painted on, her black lacy bra standing out like a neon sign as the shirt became more transparent than ever. once luca considered her sufficiently wet he let go of the hose, letting it fall down by maggie's side. she laughed, shaking her head in disbelief and laughing more as water droplets fell from her hair, the tip of her nose, everywhere. she didn't say much, she just smiled as luca reached up and brushed some stray strands of hair away from her face. "i never said you couldn't have fun." maggie said with a chuckle, grabbing his shirt. she hefted the fabric up and over his head, turning her back to him as she wrung it out in the sink, turning the faucet off in the process. "but you're right..." she said as she rolled his shirt and laid it out on the counter to dry, turning back to his bare chested self and lifting onto her tip toes, her lips barely grazing his before she settled back onto her feet. "that was fun."
