In the year 2006 the world saw the first signs of genetic mutation, human beings were now born with a new type of gene sequence that allowed them to possess certain abilities. These abilities appear to be dormant until the child turned 16, just as adolescent stroke...and so did the so called 'powers'. It seemed that a new dawn was approaching, the next step of human evolution was here.
Of course, not everyone saw this as a blessing, some people were afraid of what was happening and others. Sure, people are always afraid of what they don't understand and this was definitely something disturbing. At first, everyone believed that these people were not human, that they had some sort of virus, they have even been called demons and witches. It was not until the year 2010, after thousands of mutants were slaughtered by mobs in what seemed like a mutant hunt, that people discovered the truth. These people are human beings, the only different lied in one single gene that scientist named the X gene. This was the only thing that made them different and that allowed them to posses this amazing abilities, some too dangerous for one person to withstand.
As the years progressed,people became more used to the idea of living in a world were mutation existed, and the angry mobs and killings ceased. Pretty soon mutants became more 'normal' and seeing a mutant was as common as seeing someone from a different race walking by.
Soon enough there were mutant organizations, the government formed their own Ministry of Mutant Affairs, Mutant prisons, were created or rebuilt (the most famous one being Alcatraz island in San Francisco), mutant hospitals and even high schools and universities were built in order to give mutants the opportunity to be with their own and have more freedom. This was also a way to keep the rest of humans safe, since some were not really convinced that being in the same room with a mutant was a good idea.
This was after many incidents happened, high school shootings became a thing of the past since mutants were now able to use their abilities against their fellow classmates. This was one of the main reason why these institutions were created.
One of those institutions is Jubilation boarding school for mutants, located in San Francisco, Ca. Not only a place of learning, but also a home for many kids who have found themselves alone and afraid. This is where our story begins....
