Have you ever wondered what the world would be like if the rules that held society together, and the consequences that backed those rules up suddenly disappeared? What would it be like in a world with no adults, unpredictable teenagers, and the only rules are the ones made by the strongest among them? When dysfunctional teenagers are abandoned on a deserted island in the middle of the ocean, what becomes of it's inhabitants? How long before even the rational ones lose their sanity?
Welcome to Athan Island.
It's the year 2050, and after a North American-wide terrorist attack on all of the juvenile detention centers, there's nowhere left to put them. Few juveniles survived the detention center bombings that occurred on April 19, 2049. Of those that did, most have managed to slip through authority's grasp and stow away on planes and boats bound for other countries, where they could begin a new life and try to live again. Some of the escapees have been caught, while others continue to remain just out of reach of the authorities, always one step ahead of them.
In early January, a ship transporting juveniles was shipwrecked in an ocean storm, and the government got it's idea. The teenagers couldn't cause trouble if they were sent to a deserted island in the middle of the ocean. And so it was decided, and they set about finding an appropriate island. They finally settled on a large island, close to the middle of the ocean with no other islands around it. Plans were finalized, and the teens were moved. None of them really wanted to be sent to a strange island that they nor the government knew much about. But what could they really do? More juvenile teens get dropped off almost daily, along with supplies.
What would you do if you were sent to an island, and you knew the only people on it were those who had committed crimes like you had, or worse? Would you saunter into the island and try to take over? Or hang out in the side, and keep out of people's way? Would you try and swim to the first boat that passed? Choose your alliances carefully, those you befriend can save your life or aid in ending it.
