Temptation Waits
The war.
Both clans can sense it and even the humans connected to the clans can sense it. The tremors in the earth, the ripples in the water, the whispers in the air…it is coming…and both clans are preparing for the fatalities, the loses that are bound to happen on both sides. Whilst the Draculeti relax and save their strength for the upcoming war – especially those who had been recently hurt in the first strikes and battles with hunters – the Mircea are planning their attack rather than just deciding to wing it.
There is a slight problem, however, New Orleans isn’t as unpopular with the media as it first was. Statistics have shown that more people disappear in New Orleans than in Central America and that the wildlife in the area had also dwindled dramatically. These statistics have caused a bit of a stir with the media and the FBI, curious to know exactly why New Orleans is suddenly a dangerous place to visit, let alone live. Yet, due to little evidence and only myths haunting the city, it was left alone.
Then, the footage was released.
On a popular upload and host site where you could broadcast your own videos a three minute clip was hosted showing CCTV footage of a young female being attacked by an older male, latching into her neck before she was dropped dead, two puncture marks clear in her neck yet no blood dripped from it. Well, as you can imagine the video was classed as a hoax, until the recorder stated that it was from New Orleans CCTV and previous footage had been tampered with before he had chance to record it.
All hell broke loose.
With such footage, such proof that beings of darkness do exist and currently there were residents in New Orleans. With radio, newspaper and television reporters catching hold of the story like a dog to the bone it wasn’t long before the FBI also got involved. Soon, they were in New Orleans, hacking into computer systems, trying to get hold of footage – any footage – before it was tampered with my an anonymous source.
They gained footage, not fast enough to record it but they saw it with their own two eyes and they also caught footage of these vampire-like creatures being killed by humans. This caused another problem; the focus was not just on the creatures but on the human hunters as well. Should they catch either species then they are both in trouble, taken away in straight jackets and experimented on before finally being dissected. It’d be Roswell all over again, in some terms. So, now it’s not just the vampires that have to be careful, it’s the knowledgeable humans and hunters too, but they can handle themselves.
Yet the clans have to make a choice. Either try and survive on their own, protecting their tracks and hiding their existence or they call a temporary truce and protect each other’s backs. Since, after all, should any vampire get caught – clans aside – they are all screwed.
Every. Last. Single. One of them.
