ODDITY?
World War III is in motion.
It could very easily be said that St. Peters is the last vacation spot left on the west coast. After a shower of bombs hit, not much was left. All around the small town are ruins, but at St. Peters everything is as it should be. The sun is shining bright, waves are rolling into the beach, depressed women care for there children alone...
Wait, that's not quite right.
Overseas, hundreds of men are fighting. And the males of St. Peters are of no exception. A draft had been called, all those seventeen and above had been sent overseas, unless they have reason to stay behind, very good reason, infact. The boys have been gone for an entire three months, dropping everything- school included, to help Canada try to make peace with the rest of the world. There isn't any pointing fingers, mostly because there just isn't enough time. But, on the first day of summer, the boys are coming home, right back to St. Peters airport to squish back into the arms of there loving family, unite with there Father's, who were probably over there with them... Unless of course, not everybody made it back.
It's been made quite clear that the men are going back, right at the end of summer, back across the ocean. Except this time, those who's fifteenth birthday has turned over will be travelling with them. There's a never ending shortage of men, it seems, what with all the casualties at home due to air attacks. Through all this, the woman of St. Peters can only wait... but little do they know, they have another purpose entirely.
Those coming back from the war have been informed that the population of the United States is down ninety five percent. That means, it's time for another baby boom. All the boys returning from the war have been informed that they are to be married and have at least two children before the age of twenty, as a civil duty, of course. So far none of the woman know, but the men sure do. The sparks are flying to see who gets who. It's mating season, with the doom and gloom of the return to war, hopefully to end it once and for all, hanging on their shoulders.
The teenagers of St. Peters are just trying to have fun, even with all the arranged marriages buzzing around there heads, the insane love triangles. All of them are just trying to forget the reality.
For some, it will be their last summer at home. Their last summer with their families, their last summer alive. But for most, it's just their last summer without the knowledge of an upcoming child on their conscience...
But as a collective group, they call it...
