Jake paced impatiently and nervously in front of a table. He had sent a text message to Nikki, hoping to meet her alone here. After all, the reason he had wanted to come to Vegas in the first place was to see Nikki and have her all to himself... At least, for one night. However, he had seen one of his friends that he had met at Valkyrie not long ago. He remembered when she had lost all of her notes for math or something. Back then, he wasn't with Nikki. And he had sorta kinda liked her. She must have recognized who he was by now. He shook off that thought and continued pacing, running one of his hands through his hair.
Jake was dressed casually enough. He wore baggy shorts that showed his tan legs, a white tank top he normally wore when he was a lifeguard in Florida, and his leather flip flops. His sunglasses were on his head, and whenever he caught a glimpse of Kelsey Lewington, the girl he recognized, he felt the color drain from his face. However, she never really did look over at him after their first sight of each other. Jake was nervous enough about waiting to see if Nikki would get here, and he didn't need Kelsey to make it ten times harder. However, she was doing a great job of it. And she wasn't even doing it on purpose.
Jake took out his cell phone to check the time. No, she hadn't texted him... Or had she? He blinked stupidly before noticing that his phone was off. He scowled and turned it on. She hadn't texted him... So he was right. Or was he? He was having trouble reading the numbers and letters flashing on the screen up at him. He imagined them laughing at him for his incredibly desperate moment. He felt like walking up to someone and asking if a text message had arrived on his phone, but he knew that would only get him made fun of. He decided that perhaps all he could do now was sit and wait. And hope that Kelsey wouldn't notice him.

Nikki walked into the club, looking for Jake. She wore a white shirt, along with some jeans. A unbuttoned brown jacket was also worn, just in case it got a little chilly. Her hair was straighten. Nikki looked around the club for Jake, and finally spotted him. She ran to his table, finally realizing that she hadn't replied to his text. 'Oops,' she thought to herself.
"Hey Jake," She said, kissing him. Nikki had kissed him first, this time. "What's wrong?" She asked him. He looked so depressed before she had kissed him. Did something bad happen? Was he going to break up with her? Oh, she hoped not. Maybe it was all in her mind and she was just thinking of negative things. "Or is everything fine?" Nikki finished.
Her hand pushed her hair behind her shoulder, as she waited for Jake to answer. Nikki was happy to know that she was able to spend time with him. Nothing could go wrong, this night. it was Vegas, and they were going to have a great time....Right?

It was getting late and Kelsey was only just getting started. The fight with Luke and the reality that their relationship was beyond repair was leaving Kelsey in a bit of a state. She wasn’t used to the feelings she was having and the way they hurt. She wasn’t used to being told that she was worthless and not important, especially by a boy, a boy she happened to like very much. Looking back on it now, Kelsey was hating how something so stupid as her being jealous over some other girl had led to what would be the end of their relationship. But most of all, Kelsey was pissed at the way she felt right now. Her feelings were hurt, and that’s not something that happens too often. Luke had defeated her, left her to cry over him, and that’s the worst part, she’s never cried over a guy. Walking into the club along the Las Vegas strip, Kelsey was determined to forget everything through the use of alcohol and hot strangers.
Kelsey made her way through the crowds forming outside in the late night, stopping at the entrance for only a minute to be let in by the bouncer. Tucking her hair behind her ear, an unconscious habit, she made her way to the bar, pushing her way through, catching the eye of someone every once and awhile. Later, she would dance, right now, well, all she wanted to do was get drunk. She shrugged off her jacket, slipping her arms out and placing the coat on the stool beside her. Smiling at the bartender she ordered a martini, and carefully sipped it. She didn’t want to appear desperate yet, no she’d wait at least a couple minutes until getting to that point.
Turning around, placing one leg over the other, Kelsey scanned the area, scoping out the possibilities. She thought she saw Jake, a friend from Valkyrie in the distance, but shrugged it off. She didn’t even know he had come to Vegas, and almost thought of heading over to where he was, until she saw a girl come up next to him. She drank back the rest of the drink, and placed the glass on the table, signalling for another. Her night was only just beginning. ooc;; sorry it took so long, and that it's so crappy

{It's fine, Erin.}
Jake was surprised when Nikki showed up. He had been so absorbed in thoughts about cell phones and Kelsey that he forgot that he was supposed to meet Nikki. Jake accepted her kiss and smiled when she pulled away. "Hey, Nik." It took him a bit to answer her question. Was something wrong? Then he realized he was taking a little too long. "Uhh... Ya, I'm fine. I just saw one of my friends. It's nothing." He smiled at her to emphasize his point. Then he pulled out a chair for Nikki and went to his own. "It's been awhile since we've seen each other alone. How have you been?"
Jake was working overtime to focus on Nikki and only her. His eyes kept wandering to Kelsey every now and then. He didn't want Nikki to know, but he also wanted to see if Kelsey would come over. Would Nikki be jealous if she did? Jake shivered slightly before a waiter came to their table. He quickly ordered a round of Jose Quervo. He hadn't realized what he ordered until the waiter walked away. He didn't know if Nikki wanted him to drink or not, but he guessed there was no way to change that now. He sighed and tapped his feet to the music playing.
The dance floor was very inviting, and Jake decided that before the night was over, he and Nikki would have danced their hearts out. Jake was not a good dancer, nor had he ever really learned how, but he felt that it couldn't be too hard. The way some people were doing it, it seemed harder to mess up than get it right. He reached and grabbed Nikki's hand. It made him feel more comfortable, and ten times more relaxed. For the first time since Nikki got there, his smile wasn't forced. And he was hoping it would stay that way.

((ooc: we can't blame you, Erin you have to lurk))
"A friend?" Nikki repeated, "It must be an enemy, since you don't look that happy." She was just saying what she thought. Nikki didn't want Jake to think she was kind of babysitting him though. Maybe she should just back off a little. Nikki was overeacting. It was just, she was with Jake and this was Vegas. Anything could happen, and she wasn't sure if she wasn't ready for that anything.
Feeling like she needed to make this night perfect, Nikki needed to check her appearance. This was rare, but she thought that Jake was so worth it. They should be celebrating Vegas, not dreading it. Jake was probably enjoying it while Nikki was worrying. 'I'll enjoy this night...I'll enjoy this night...' Nikki repeated over and over again in her mind.
"Jake," Nikki said softly, "I'll be right back." SHe walked to the girls' bathroom and checked everything. Her hair and her very little amount of make-up. She brushed her bangs to the side of her head with her fingers. Nikki made sure there was no smudges of lip gloss anywhere, or the eyeshadow somewhere it wasn't suppose to be.

She rolled her eyes, boredly, as she sipped her third martini. She’d already turned turn two dances and a chance to get some in the back, and now, well, she was wishing she had taken an offer or two. Her eyes danced back to where Jake and his lady friend were chilling, and she seriously thought about heading over there. Kelsey was mildly buzzed and just a little bored, right now that was an okay combination but come a drink or two from now, she’d be a mess waiting to happen. She slipped her shoe off lazily, holding it up on her toe, swirling the vodka around in the glass. Vegas was disappointing her. Not only had she gotten into a huge fight with her boyfriend, one that single-handedly destroyed there relationship, and here she was drinking alone. God, she was pathetic.
Her eyes turned once more to Jake, and this time he appeared to be alone. Wallowing in self-pity and boredom, Kels slipped her shoe back on and hopped of the stool, placing the empty glass on the bar, winking at the bartender, a gesture meaning she would be back. Slinking through the crowds, she came up to the area where Jake was standing. He looked good, she noticed that first, and appreciated it immensely. She needed somebody good to look at, and Jake was exactly who she had in mind.
”Hey you,” she smiled slyly coming up in front of him, grabbing his hands playfully as she did so. ”I didn’t know you’d be here,” she stood up on her tippy toes and kissed him on the cheek. ”I’m glad you are though.”

Jake laughed at what Nikki said. "Don't worry, she's a friend. Let's just forget about her, okay?" Easier said than done, that's for sure, he thought as his eyes drifted back to Kelsey. He sighed. Why, oh, why couldn't he just focus on Nikki? He loved her very much and he didn't think he liked Kelsey like that... Or was he making a mistake? Wouldn't be the first time.
Jake then heard Nikki as though from a great distance when she said she would be right back. "What? Oh, ya. Take your time." He smiled at her and got another round of Jose Quervo. Only two rounds, and he was already feeling buzzed. He decided that Vegas must have different alcohol than Valkyrie. After all, it normally took a lot longer for him to get a buzz in California. Or maybe it was just his nervousness... Whatever it was, it could wait as he saw Kelsey come over.
"Hey, Kelsey." He blushed slightly when she grabbed his hands. He smiled down at her, but when she kissed his cheek, he was thankful he had a tan. Blushing doesn't show up too much, but he was sure his face was purple. He was also glad Nikki was in the bathroom. However, the alcohol was ready to take over, and as he downed another round of Jose Quervo, he felt the buzz take a jolt. "It's great to see you, too. I never really expected to see you here. And, while Nikki is in the bathroom, you have to share one dance with me."
He dragged her out there and it was a slow song. Perfect. He put his arms around her waist loosely. He still had his mind, and it was telling him not to do anything stupid. But when a waiter walked by with some beer, he downed a bottle as fast as he could, and that was record time. He was now leaning more toward drunk, but he didn't care. "Tell me, what has been going on in your life?" A smile was on his face as he looked down at this girl. Boy, was he going to have a good time tonight! Not only with Nikki, but with Kelsey too...

”Only one?” she asked, a teasing tone in her voice, as she looked up with him, a flirty look in her eyes. ”And Nikki? Who’s that? Jake, do you have a girlfriend?!” her voice was light and flirty, that of a girl who was slightly buzzed and looking for someone to forget her problems with. Jake possibly having a girlfriend didn’t stop her from trying to get what she wanted, which was now him. She forgot about all the other random guys in the club that she could take her pick from and focused her attention on Jake, whether he was single or not. She let him pull her on to the dance floor and place his hands around her waist. ”Whoa there buddy, thirsty?” she smiled up at him, amused by his nervousness.
"Tell me, what has been going on in your life?"
”Oh, you wouldn’t want to know. My life is boring,” she winked playfully, swaying with him to the music. She could tell him all about how she’d broken up with her boyfriend only hours before over a stupid fight about some other girl. For a second she pictured Luke here with her, dancing and drinking with her, having fun. She took a deep breath as the image slowly turned to him with Emilia, and good knows what they were doing at the moment. She shook the thoughts out of her head; it wasn’t worth it to worry about it now.
”It’s not boring now though,” she added. ”Not now that I’m with you,” she stood up on her tiptoes and kissed him. Their lips pressed together and Kelsey didn’t care if he had a girlfriend or not, or the fact that she could be somewhere close, seeing this all go down.

Jake laughed. "Okay, I'll give you more than one. And Nikki..." He decided that maybe lying wouldn't be too bad... Right? "Nikki is just a friend of mine. I wanted to hang out with her tonight. That's all." Yes, this lying wasn't too bad... "Yes, I'm very thirsty. Why else do you think I went to all this trouble to get buzzed? I don't want only that. I want to get wasted." Oh, yes, that was true. If he got wasted, everything would just get the explanation, "Well, I was drunk."
Jake raised an eyebrow at Kelsey. "Boring? Somehow I can doubt that." He didn't know why, but he got the general idea that Kelsey was having a few problems right now. He didn't know if he was right or wrong, but he didn't push it. Rather, he pulled it. As his hands pulled Kelsey's body closer to his, he whispered in her ear. "I think I need another drink..." He reached one hand behind her and took a shot of whiskey from a waiter. He downed it and knew he was leaning closer to wasted than just buzzed.
Jake was about to reply to her when she kissed him. He was surprised. Oh, hell, yes, he was surprised. But just the fact that she had kissed him wasn't the only shock. His non-wasted part of his mind was telling him to pull away, yet he kissed her right back. He didn't care if Nikki came out of the bathroom right now, he was focusing on Kelsey. Then again, he probably wouldn't notice if Nikki showed up just then. He had gotten what he wanted, and he didn't know what would happen if Nikki found out.

A satisified sigh came out of Nikki's lips. She went out the bathroom looking for Jake. Where were the sitting again? There were so many tables, so many people. There it was. But Jake wasn't there. She looked around the club for him. where could he be. There he was! Nikki saw him dancing with Kelsey. She was about to come closer, but they kissed...
It wasn't just in her mind. She saw it for real. Their lips were pressed together. This wasn't her imagination, or some movie. This was really happening, and it hurt so much. "Jake.." Nikki said, holding all her tears back. She couldn't let him know how much pain she felt. He probably didn't care since he went an kissed Kelsey anyways. She didn't think Kelsey would ever be the one to make the move, because, well, Nikki didn't really know her at all.
"How could you?" Was all she could ask him. She wanted to just walk away, but her feet were glued to the floor. She couldn't think, too much was happening. "That's it." Nikki said, getting a little mad. "We're through." There she had said it. She never really tell much people about their relationship, but they did have one. Nikki took off the necklace that Jake gave her on their first day. She placed in her hand, and through it on the floor right in front of him.
Nikki ran. Ran anywhere she could go. The car. Just anywhere would be nice. SHe got out of the club and tears streamed down her face as she was getting as far away as possible. Another relationship. It went down the drain. Nikki didn't even notice that she never even listened to anything Jake said. She didn't think she had to...

Kelsey smiled a satisfied smile as she pulled away from Jake. That’s what she had been missing? She could only imagine what going further would be like and part of her was feeling easy enough to suggest it. ”Wow, who knew you were such a great kisser,” her arms were wrapped around his neck as the slow song continued. ”Had I known that’s what I’ve been missing, I would’ve made a move much earlier,” it was true, from their first meeting in the school’s parking lot, Kelsey had been attracted to him, cause seriously, how could not be. But now however was the first time they did anything more then flirt. In the few short minutes of conversation, Kelsey had already forgotten about the girl Jake was here with, but the voice of an upset someone came from behind and Kelsey turned her head to see Nikki standing there.
God, how ironic that only hours before she had been the jealous girlfriend, concerned about her boyfriend, well ex, cheating on here and now here she was helping some other guy fool around on his girlfriend. Usually Kelsey would back away slowly, trying not to make a big deal about things, especially now, she was emotionally tired out and starving for another drink, but she stood there, an evil smiling coming over her face. She was mean, so what, she didn’t know Nikki and it wasn’t Kelsey fault Jake had kissed her back.
”Relax,” Kelsey muttered to Nikki, as the poor girl looked like she wouldn’t make it another minute without freaking out. She spoke a little late however as she watched Nikki tear off the necklace and through it on the ground before running away. Kelsey was no where near drunk enough to deal with this.

Jake laughed. "I can do more than that." He laughed again. "You know, a lot of people underestimate me. I must look like a nerd or something." He laughed one more time. He knew he was far from looking at a nerd, but a lot people made a lot of guesses about him and ended up too late... And speaking of too late, Jake forgot that he was here with Nikki. His eyes widened as he saw her. Perfect... He had gone and ruined their night. He took one hand off of Kelsey's waist and rubbed his eyes to make sure he wasn't dreaming. Nikki had torn off the necklace and ran off. Jake grabbed another beer from a waiter that walked near and drowned it to hide his embarrassment. He was having way too much fun with Kelsey, and besides, his drunk mind wouldn't let him leave.
"Nikki..." He didn't know if Kelsey had heard him. He took both his hands off of her and walked over to the necklace. He picked it up and looked in the direction his girlfriend... No, exgirlfriend had run to. He sighed and put the necklace in his pocket before going to the bar and quickly getting a shot of whiskey. He swallowed it and went back to Kelsey. "Should I go after her or stay with you?" He couldn't make up his mind. He was here with Kelsey, drunk, and wanting to have a good time. However, he definitely could go after Nikki, apologize, and maybe make up. The hard thing was deciding what to do.

“Mmhmm, I bet you can,” she muttered softly into his ear as they danced, shaking her head and laughing at his next comment. It was far from the truth. ”Oh, believe me sweetheart, you don’t look like a nerd,” she smiled, he was the exact replica of the anti-nerd, or well in looks anyway, Kels had too still learn the infinite details of his personality, however that was far from being on her mind. She was enjoying this, here with him, that was until Nikki decided to resurface. She rolled her eyes as he left her, to attend to the mess that was becoming his relationship. Hands on her hips, giving off the vibe that she was pissed, Kelsey sighed at this situation. So much for forgetting about her problems.
She watched intently as Jake came to her. Good boy. She was ready to slip her arms around him once more and make more obvious hints of what she wanted from him. "Should I go after her or stay with you?" He was asking her? The girl who had led him away and quite frankly could care less about his relationship with her? Wow, that was a first.
”Stay here with me,” she replied sweetly, putting one arm around his waist and placing her other hand on his chest, running down it with one finger. ”I promise I’ll make it worth your while,” a sense of drunken confidence shining through with her flirty attitude. She kissed him once again, as if to seal the deal, hoping that he would in fact, choose to stay with her.

Jake knew that staying with Kelsey would just make his problem worse. He had shifted his weight so he could move away when Kelsey slipped one arm around his waist. He smiled crookedly at her. "Well, when you put it that way... How can I refuse?" When she kissed him again, he didn't give one ounce of fight. Instead, he kissed her right back and even pulled her closer. He put his hands around her waist again. If she didn't mind him cheating, then he guessed it couldn't be all bad... He didn't understand the way the mind of a girl works, but he decided that this must be the best thing to do.
The only problem with that was that he felt it was wrong. Deep in his heart and way back in his mind, he knew he should be going after Nikki. He should find her, apologize a million times, and hope that she would forgive him. He shouldn't have started this whole mess in the first place. He should have had his date with Nikki, enjoyed himself, had some time dance, and maybe some private time... But no. As he usually did, Jake had messed up with his night life. All he could think of now was that he was having a ton of fun with Kelsey, but the sight of Nikki crying, throwing the necklace on the floor, and running out kept popping into his head. He tried to rid himself of that thought and tried to think of what a great kisser Kelsey was.

Feeling him pull her body closer, and kiss back, Kelsey smiled shyly, a look of success coming over her face. She had won. Won the battle in Jake’s mind between the two girls, and through the slight fuzziness in her mind, it was magnified to a huge extreme. He was chancing the end of him and Nikki just to stick around and make-out with her, who was using him for nothing more then the hook-up she craved. Removing her lips, she kissed his neck. ”I think you should buy me a drink,” she whispered into his ear over the music, announcing that she wasn’t that drunk yet, but sure as hell wanted to be. Her thoughts were still clear and she knew that she was helping this guy cheat. It was almost ironic as she had been the one who had started a fight with Luke just because she was jealous that he was hanging with another girl, deep down worried about him cheating one her and here she was, letting Jake cheat on Nikki.
The fight earlier kept sneaking back into her mind and Kelsey couldn’t help but wonder where Luke was. Had he gone out with Emilia? Some other girl? She could feel the heat rise in her face as the possibility of him rubbing up on some random girl became increasingly realistic. Ignoring the thoughts, she placed one hand on Jake’s lower neck, and allowed the other to run through his hair, kissing him passionately. If Luke was going to forget about her by hooking-up with some girl, like she knew he was, she would do the same.
Detaching her lips from his, a playful smirk came over her face. ”And then I think you should come back to my room.” [/blockquote]
