A deli. Chloe couldn't believe that she was in Las Vegas, and she ended up having lunch -alone- in a deli. She had had this crazy vision of what the whole trip would be like; going club-hopping with a few guys she had just met, romantic dinners in one of LV's finest restaurants, winning or losing it all in the casinos. No, instead of going crazy and let loose, Chloe was ordering an ice water (not a margarita) from a deli (not a five-star restaurant). She grinned up at the waiter; at least he was cute.
Although Chloe had been looking for a nice fling during the school trip, she was not having much luck. She was not looking for someone to obsess over her, nor someone who completely ignored her. All the potential men were taken, or had split-personalities or something of the sort. Though she didn't even know why she tried. Not after what had happened the last time. Chloe, she reminded herself, Last time was years ago...Nothing of the sort would happen again. Then why couldn't she seem to relax and enjoy Las Vegas?
However, her mind was more at peace than it had been in ages. Chloe sipped from the cup of water, her eyes absentmindedly scanning the crowds. For all she knew, she was relaxing; it had been so long, she could hardly recognize it. Usually, her thoughts were restless...Except, now Chloe was kicked-back in her chair, listening to the chatter of the people, and she never felt so good. That was, until she caught sight of dark brown locks that she would never forget.

Las Vegas was nothing compared to Europe. Of course, Adrian always made himself believe that everything he had was better than what he could have. So why was he here? Adrian himself had recommended going to a bar or casino, but look where he ended up. In front of a freaking deli. This was one of the few times he did not get his way.
Adrian sighed, looking over at Lilly, his 'girlfriend'. Of about five minutes, that was. There was no way he was going to roam the streets of Las Vegas as a single guy, that would ruin his rep altogether. The press would surely find out that she was nothing, just another notch on his bedpost. And it was true, thats what she was, and she knew it. But what did he care? He got a new girl within minutes. He offered a ruse smile to her, glancing in the window, his thoughts drifting. He stared at the reflection in the window, admiring himself. But suddenly his reflection disappeared as he saw the girl at the window.
"Come on." He said, half dragging the girl through the door. They sat down at the nearest table, watching the waiter talk to Chloe.
She looked happier than before, although the look on her face gave off her anxious feelings. The waiter slowly walked away, coming over to his table. "What can I get for you?" The waiter asked, holding up a small notebook. Adrian glared at the boy, his eyes seeping deep into his, like a snake bite. "One moment please." He said raising his eyebrow. He looked over at Lilly--if that was even her name--her deep green eyes uncertain, and said quickly, "I'll be right back, babe."
"I see your appetite hasn't changed much." He motioned to Chloe's glass of water, then slyly took a seat across the table. Maybe Las Vegas wouldn't be so bad after all.

It took all Chloe's willpower not to stare out the window of the deli. It couldn't be him, not Adrian. Not in Las Vegas. Her heart was pounding wildly, but she pretended to be quite occupied by the waiter's company. She grinned, making polite conversation. Besides, the waiter seemed to be enjoying it.
"How long are you going to be in Las Vegas?" He said, leaning against the table while Chloe tried to keep her mind off of her ex. Who was now in the deli. Who was sitting down at the closest table possible. She glanced over at him, trying not to make eye-contact. She acted as if she had never seen him, although he was all too familiar. "Oops, sorry, I'll be right back." As the waiter left to tend more tables, Chloe tried to control herself, instead of yanking him down, not leaving her alone.
Chloe played with the napkin anxiously. She had to get out of there, as soon as possible. All she could hear was the thumping of her heart, which now felt heavy and strained. Above all, she could feel fear. And now he was coming closer...and closer...Chloe looked up at him with all the hatred she could muster.
"I see your appetite hasn't changed much."
She glared icily at him, shifting uncomfortably. "And I see you're still a pretentious ass." Chloe had to keep her voice from shaking, her eyes not meeting his. She shouldn't have said that; all the feelings she had in Europe made themselves known to her, but she wouldn't let Adrian see that.

"And I see you're still a pretentious ass."
Adrian smirked at Chloe. She was so....weak, so unpoised. Why was she trying to act confident all of the sudden? Of course, there was no way she could cover up her old personality. That was exactly what had attracted him to her. The neediness, just what he was looking for in a girl. "Well, I can't disagree with that one." He said, his eyebrow raised once again. Her blond hair was no different then before, her blue eyes the same as well. He watched her as she played uncertainly with her napkin. "How have you been?" He said, a fake smile spreading across his face. His voice was soft now, but definitely not believable.
Adrian glanced over at Lilly, who was beginning to look quite impatient. Oh well; he was not planning on staying with her anyway. Waiting for a reply, Adrian took the glass from the table and lowered it to his lips, taking a long, slow sip. "Ahh,"

"Well, I can't disagree with that one."
Chloe stared at the table, trying to concentrate on the ridges; anything was better than having to look at Adrian, who had hurt her so. Trying to keep her temper down and her voice sturdy, Chloe said softly, "Well, what else can we agree on, Adrian?" She rested her chin on her knuckles, "The fact that you pretty much ruined my life?" As much as she hated it, her eyes softened and she seemed so...emotional. Insecure, vulnerable. "I was what, fourteen? I didn't need that, I..." Her voice trailed off. What else could they agree on? He was still drop dead gorgeous, although she despised herself for thinking that.
After a moment of gathering her confidence, she asked sharply, "What are you doing here?" She glanced back at the girl he had came with, an impatient looking brunette. No, she certainly wouldn't do for Adrian. The girl looked much too independent. When Chloe looked back, Adrian was enjoying her beverage. "And what do you think you're doing?"

"Well, what else can we agree on, Adrian? The fact that you pretty much ruined my life?" Adrian paused, enraged by her confidence. "I was what, fourteen? I didn't need that, I..." Why was she doing this? Digging up the past. For all she knew he could be a new and improved person....not that he could say that for himself. "I didn't do anything." The anger withdrew from him, guilt suddenly arising. He couldn't help what had happened. It wouldn't have been different with anyone else. That was what he told himself...for if he didn't he was afraid he would slowly but surely begin to hate himself. If it wasn't happening already.
"What are you doing here?" Her voice broke into his thoughts like a shattering window. He drew his gaze back to Chloe, giving her a slight glare. His features were soft, yet when his personality came through he was the farthest thing from it. "Well, what do you think?" He saw her glance at Lilly, who he remembered was actually supposed to be with him. Sighing, he just said "Photo shoot, what else?" He laughed slightly, trying to make conversation. She made him seem like a mass murderer or something. All he really wanted was to chat, get things back to normal. If they had a normal between them, that is.
"And what do you think you're doing?" Chloe said, referring to him drinking out of her glass. "Oh, nothing. Just drinking your water." He said, his lip curving into a smile. He loved getting under people's skin. "So, I see your alone? And in Vegas. This can't be good." Adrian almost wanted to laugh. He knew that Chloe could surely have any guy she wanted, as he did, but she decided to be seen alone. What was up with that?

"I didn't do anything."
Chloe cringed slightly, seeing Adrian get angry at her outbursts. Then all of a sudden, the anger subsided, and was replaced with...That couldn't be guilt, could it? It was then her turn to be mad. "I try and fool myself with that everyday." She glared at him, "And you know what? Either did I, and I have to live with the guilt of not doing anything about it."
She averted her eyes, feeling herself become light-headed. God, this couldn't be happening. She was off to a new start, and then he had to come and ruin it all. She scoffed at his next answer. Photo-shoot. Chloe stared out the window, thoughts clogging her mind. He was just a big celebrity like her, right? Dear Adrian, oh so dominant, so handsome...So abusive.
Chloe turned to face him at the mention of him drinking her water. "Adrian, we're no longer sleeping together," she said in a fake sweet voice, "so I don't think your girlfriend would approve." She nodded her head towards the girl waiting at the other table.
"So, I see your alone? And in Vegas. This can't be good."
Chloe bit her lip. "I'm not alone-" She said too quickly. "I'm waiting for someone...My-my boyfriend."

"I try and fool myself with that everyday. And you know what? Either did I, and I have to live with the guilt of not doing anything about it."
Strangely, Adrian knew almost exactly how she felt. Having to live with yourself everyday...never doing anything about it.....
"Adrian, we're no longer sleeping together, so I don't think your girlfriend would approve." Her voice was that of a mother, disapproving and such. He looked back at Lilly once again, who gave him a dirty look. "Yeah, it's to bad, isn't it?" He said, turning his head back to Chloe.
"I'm not alone- I'm waiting for someone...My-my boyfriend." He knew this voice all to well though, for she had lied to him one to many times. "Well if I were taking a lovely lady to you out to eat, it surely wouldn't be at a deli." He raised both of his eyebrows now, looking around the place. "This isn't what I would call romantic." Adrian glanced over his shoulder to find the back of his date storming out. Ah, just another one, he thought to himself.

"Yeah, it's to bad, isn't it?"
Chloe made a face, and said casually, "I've had better." Well, not really. She hadn't been with anyone since. Though he didn't need to know that. Just like Adrian didn't need to know that she wasn't planning on meeting anyone at the deli, either.
"Well if I were taking a lovely lady to you out to eat, it surely wouldn't be at a deli."..."This isn't what I would call romantic."
Chloe gave a sharp laugh, rolling her eyes. "Says the man who sits by his ex, and lets his girlfriend walk out on the date; at a deli, mind you."

"I've had better." Chloe spat out at him. Harsh much? It wasn't like he hadn't had better. There had been many girls after her, and many before. To the media, everything he ever had was a fling. They didn't see the feelings behind the relationships, although he tried to put feelings aside--then again, he was with Chloe before he took his spot in the limelight. "That's highly unlikely." He said staring back at his reflection in the window beside him. What had he become?
"Says the man who sits by his ex, and lets his girlfriend walk out on the date; at a deli, mind you."
Adrian smiled at her joke, although he knew it was said to cut him down. "It washer choice." He mumbled, referring to Lily's previous request. Besides, a deli wasn't that bad. Wait, what was he thinking. Just before he was complaining to himself about how Las Vegas wasn't meant for deli's, but for casinos and bars. Something about Chloe changed his view on things, made him a different person. Sometimes it was in a good way, sometimes it wasn't...
Adrian rested his head in his hand, his elbows supporting him. "So, where have you been all these years? Articles say you moved to California- and that your single." He grinned, trying to make sure that Chloe knew that he knew she was lying.

"It was her choice.
Chloe raised an eyebrow and smiled wryly. "So now you're letting girls do the choosing?" she asked, glancing at the door. Someone had to come in. Anyone. Any person she recognized, she would seize up the opportunity to get away. To stop the conversation. She acted cool and level-headed on the outside, but her insides were squirming. Chloe was talking to the man who had struck fear in her heart, sabotaged her childhood.
"So, where have you been all these years? Articles say you moved to California- and that your single."
He knew, she knew that, but she wouldn't give Adrian the satisfaction. "I don't think it's really any of your business where I've been, or where I'm residing," she said in her crisp British accent, "And you of all people should know that tabloids lie, do they not?"

"So now you're letting girls do the choosing?"
Adrian decided not to comment on this one, for he didn't have the strength nor determination to do so. Tonight he wasn't up for that- he was, believe it or not, in a good mood. Although he knew that would soon change...
Following Chloe's eyes, he looked at the door. He knew that she wanted to leave, he could almost feel it in her presence. But he wasn't going to let her go that fast. There was no way he would just smile and wave as she passed him by. This was his final chance to prove he wasn't just some psycho. That seemed almost impossible at this point, though.
"I don't think it's really any of your business where I've been, or where I'm residing,"
Raising an eyebrow, Arian began to laugh. "Actually...it might." He smirked, deciding not to tell her why just yet.
"And you of all people should know that tabloids lie, do they not?"
Yes, it was all to true. But at the moment, Adrain didn't exactly feel like kissing her ass. "But seventy-five percent of the time they are true." He said, absent-mindedly taking another drink of her water. "Would you like to go to a casino, where all the real fun is?"

"Actually...it might."
Chloe stared at him, looking rather blank. What Adrian meant wasn't registering. "Why," she scoffed, "would my whereabouts be any concern to you?" Where was he leading? What was he trying to say?
"But seventy-five percent of the time they are true."
When it came to the articles about her relationship status, Chloe didn't feel like discussing it much. So she lied, and Adrian knew it. She was single, and planned on staying that way. "Fine!" she exclaimed, exasperated. "I'm not dating anyone, nor do I intend to. Why are you so keen on finding out if I am or not?"
"Would you like to go to a casino, where all the real fun is?"
She looked at him incredulously. What, did Adrian think she was stupid? Going to a casino with him. "I-sure," Chloe blurted out, not believing what she was agreeing to. How could she be acting so irresponsible when she hadn't even had a drink yet?

"Why, would my whereabouts be any concern to you?"
Because I'm still in love with you. the thought passed by drearily, but left all too fast. He was to good for her, he laughed to himself. "Ah, no reason." Adrian smiled at Chloe, on the inside wondering what had changed her mood. But the truth was, he knew all too well that it was him that made her this way.
"Fine! I'm not dating anyone, nor do I intend to. Why are you so keen on finding out if I am or not?" Chloe sneered at him. Adrian didn't know why it mattered. He didn't know why he was so keen on finding out. Overall, he just...didn't know. Chloe was like a part of him, a chapter- no a series, of his life. He couldn't stand to let her leave. And that's why he was almost stunned when he heard her reply
"I-sure,"
Adrians heart seemed to stop for a moment, although he didn't let it get to him. He got up, trying to disguise the smile that was now plastered on his face. Turning back to her, he uncontrollably grabbed her hand, leading her to the door.
