Sage smiled when she heard he would play for her. Confidence, Sage knew he had it, she wanted it. Sure, Sage put on the front that she was confident, but, no one knew her. They thought they did, but, no. Not yet at least.
"I put down dance and gymnastics, my two best sports." Sage said, a bit of pride in her voice. However, a flush crept over her face, she didn't want Zachary to think she was bragging. However, Sage was proud of her accomplishments in dance and gymnastics, something she could count on. It was something to strive for, a goal far ahead that was always within reach. She just had to grab for it, but Sage was cared to let go and jump.

"Sweet!" Zachary said smiling, " I suck at sports! I can run, but that's it. Very little hand-I-coordination, and if you want me to do a back flip, you might mistake me for a clown. Granted, I would need some super baggy pants then." Alas, he was rather serious, granted, in his mind he should work on his strengths, and fix minor details to make your weaknesses seem invisible. A good example would be dodge P.E. if at all possible, and only do the stuff that involves sheer speed.
He continued to scratch the dogs head, then stared down at the ground, "I'm not really that.. Athletic," he said letting the confidence drop form his voice. "In fact, at my old school, I got tackled, and they told us to not put our arms in front of us, because if there's a two hundred pound guy on us, well then we'll snap the bones... Guess who did exactly that?" He said shaking his head letting a small smile spread across his lips.
He wasn't afraid to admit he wasn't the most graceful thing in the world, or the most athletic, but he wasn't always afraid to admit it. After all, that makes who he is, all those flaws and minor details that effect him.

Sage laughed, and stood up, wanting to show off a little bit after her flying leap. She did two back flips and walked back, slightly out of breath to Zachary and Adonis. The dog snorted, as if saying, 'show off.' "That's one of the only things I'm good at. Sports with balls and bats and other items other then your own body confuse me." she said, thinking of snapping her wrist in gym. God that would suck!
"So, did it hurt really bad?" she asked, referring back to the breaking of bones in Physical Education. Sage hated P.E. it was a class for jocks, though she wasn't afraid of it like those prissy girls at her old school.

"The only cool things about sports with bats is that you can hit people... by accident," Zachary stated, quickly tacking on the last two words, but it was some what obvious that they were added as an after thought.
Then he shrugged, and looked at his wrist, "Nah, I was kind of in shock and to busy yelling at the guy ontop of me to get off of me, but, when I tried to get up, that's when it hurt... But, what really pissed me off, was not the guy, but the fact I had to get off of piano for over two months, luckily, after that, I used it as a exercise to gain dexterity back in to my wrist." He rotated his wrist once or twice then sighed happily. Clearly, he was quiet pleased with the fact he could still play.

Sage thought about that, not being able to do what you loved. This brought up the time she'd twisted her ankle when she was about nine and had to miss a week of dance. Those seven days had been hell! Sage couldn't imagine going for two months. "I would kill someone if they broke my leg." Sage murmured, before snapping back to the actual conversation.
"So was he really around two hundred pounds?" Sage asked, wondering why they would let someone that big wrestle with people. At least, people who didn't know how to wrestle. That sport had never really made sense to Sage. Big guys in spandex rolling around together on the floor? But it was actually kind of fun to watch.

"Yeah," he said thinking about what Sage would do, after all, she wouldn't be able to dance, or do gymnastics with a broken... Well, anything broken really. Except, maybe cartwheels, and some rolls, one handed, but, that's not the point.
Then he shrugged slightly, "Yeah, he was. I was in roll for being on Varsity, but there were like three other players that were eligible for the same spot as I was. So, we played a fake match, ended up though I lost the spot."
"They like heavier guys," he explained, even though Sage didn't really ask for an explanation, he was just hoping he wouldn't get snapped at afterwords. "Because, despite the fact that they run slower, usually, when they get up and maul you, well, you have a higher chance of falling down. That way, you don't get past a certain point on the field, whether it be the end zone, or just ten yards further."

Sage nodded, understanding what it felt like to be turned down for a spot on a team. Madame Karonski had told Sage she was to inexperienced for a part in the older girls recital. Of course, Sage worked her butt off in the next two practices, working threw the pain of a pulled muscle in her hamstring. However, Madame Karonski had seen the sweat and effort it took for Sage to do even a few simple exercises and had pulled her aside, saying that she was just as good as the older girls, but that she was simply to young. No amount of training and practice could change her age.
"Football's cool, but I don't know practically anything about it." Sage said, remembering only a few things about the game. Quarterback throws, Center snaps the ball, something about big guys being Linemen and someone called a Safety. It was all really confusing to Sage, so she stopped trying to figure it out.

"Depends whether you're watching, or playing... Don't get me wrong, it's pretty fun, until you become the meat in a sandwhich, you know?" Zachary asked. Granted, he didn't know if Sage would actually know what it was like to be the meat of a sandwhich. 'You know' was just one of the phrases that he had a tendency of tacking on at the end of sentences.
He looked down at the dog, whom he had forgotten that he was petting. "You know, he kind of reminds me of my old dog, big, and loveable, and has a tendency of drooling." As he said the last thing, he whipped some dog drool off of his pajama pants and smiled slightly at the animal.

Sage looked down at Adonis and smiled. Yes, he did drool quite a bit. But he was a big, furry animal in California. Secretly Sage thought he was lucky not be someone's coat. Not that wearing fur was wrong, but Sage saw no reason someone would need it in California of all places.
"Yeah, he's lovable, certainly fits the big part. As for drooling, I think you've got Adonis down perfect." Sage said with a smile, gently rubbing the dog's head. He sighed and wiggled a bit in the warm sand. Slowly, it was getting warmer, as it often did in California. Even early mornings had the tendency to be in the late seventies, early eighties.

"Yeah, my old dog used to enjoy to drool alot," Zachary said, "granted, he was weird, and I think he suffered from something, because seriously, he had this tendency of running into things, that or else he was convinced he was the size of a gopher."
Then he shifted slightly in the sand, he looked over at the sun and smiled slightly. "It's kind of hard to think I'm here... Again," Zachary said, sheilding the sun away from his eyes. "It seemed like a few months ago I was a freshman back in Montana..."

Sage laughed and nodded, ruffling Adonis’ long fur. “He’s convinced he’s the size of a mini poodle. That or he thinks we’re strong enough to hold him when he jumps on us.” Sage said with a grin. Hearing about how Zachary had been to Montana, Sage wondered what it was like. She’d lived in California all her life, hadn’t ever even left the state.
“Do you miss it? I mean Montana, not the freshman part.” Sage said, her dark eyes focusing on Zachary. He was smiling, if only slightly, so that was a good sign. Or Sage was really bad at reading emotions. That last part was very true so she could be wrong about it.

"Yeah, well, we can't all be as strong as Adonis though," Zachary said standing up off the sandy ground. Then he nodded his head once or twice.
"Montana is... A nobody state, I mean, I've never heard of a singer that was discovered in Montana, let alone got a record deal and hit the charts," he stated. "I don't miss Montana, but... What I do miss is home. It seems kind of weird, since I'm not in the same room that I've had since I was a toddler, I'm in a totally different house now, which has yet to earn the right to be entitled properly as 'home.'"

Ashley sat on her back porch with her pajamas watching Sage and Zachary. She wanted to go over and chat to but feared that she would interupt them. As she sat and watched she wondered, she wondered what it would be like to be Sage or Zachary or anyone else in the world? Would life be better or worse? Would she still have the same personallity or would she gain theirs? Would she have more friends or less? This was one thing that she always pondered, she had always asked herself what if scince the age of 5.
She decided to start thinking of something else before she started to think so deep into it that she would start to not make sence to herself. She wished someone would come over to her to talk but didnt really mind being alone right now either, she loved to think but she also loved to tell others her thoughts.
