Ah, the Karaoke bar. Here was a place you could sing and make a fool out of yourself, but everyone was to drunk to care. Actually that is a lie, you could actually make some money here. Well, if you consider a couple bucks a lot. But you never know, there are a lot of rich here who could you some good money. Many times, though you get booed.
Bridget Ainsworth sat a table in the Karaoke bar. She wore a white mini with gold lining. On the top she wore a brown tee with gold writing. This was a casual outfit she would normally wear. Her hair was down scrunched tonight, but it normally is that or curled. A drink was in her hand and she was ready to sing.
She heard the last person finish singing such an old song she couldn't remember its name. She was next, or at lest she wanted to be. She put her drink down and got up on the stage. She decided to sing the first song she saw, "Love Shack." The words came up on the machine and she started to sing.
"If you see a faded sign by the side of the road that says 15 miles to the... love shack! love shack yeah I'm headin' down the atlanta highway, lookin' for the love getaway Heading for the love getaway, love getaway, I got me a car, it's as big as a whale and we're headin' on down To the love shack I got me a chrysler, it seats about 20 So hurry up and bring your jukebox money The love shack is a little old place where we can get together Love shack baby, love shack bay-bee. Love baby, that's where it's at, ooo love baby, that's where it's at......"
She didn't sound half that bad. She didn't sound beautiful, just better then normal. Well, atleast she thought that. She could hear people start to clap. She hoped this was good.

Anything was better than that stuffy library he had been in for a couple days straight doing homework. Though, the library was his second home. He could concentrate there. But, too much was bad on the brain and he had to get out. He took a little walk down the strip, seeing which florescent lights caught his eye.
Clad in jeans, gray long-sleeved shirt and a navy pole over it he walked with his converses down the sidewalk. Pizza, not hungry. Clubbing, not interested. Movie, nothing good out. Compact Disk, don't want to pull an extra shift tonight. Karaoke Bar, well, that was something new.
He walked inside. A girl from school, singing the Love Shack. He chuckled to himself as he sat in the bar, chair facing her. She was ok. Not overnight star, but not cheesy. He ordered a drink. A virgin of course. He wasn't planning to get drunk tonight. This was a break from his studying at the moment.

Bridget finished the rest of her song. As bowed to the crowd and acted like she had just a song at the concert mixed with Mis America. Why not have a little have fun was her motto. She was sticking to it. She walked of the stage and went back to her seat and drink.
She walk over to a guy she recognized from her school. She didn't know him really. She saw him, but never actually talked to him before. She couldn't remember his name, but decided to have a little fun and go talk to him. She wasn't drunk, yet. That was a good sign...
"Hey," she said walking over to him, her accent as nice as ever" What did you think?"

Oscar was quite surprised that the girl plopped down in the seat next to him so quickly. He could smell some beer on her breath but didn't mention it. "Quite the performance," he said and smiled. "You come here often?" he asked her and grabbed his drink for the bartender.
"You go to Valkyrie, right?" he asked taking a drink. "I'm Oscar Lyon. And you are..." he left the sentence hanging, for her to fill in. Oscar had to admit, that she was very pretty. Why hadn't he seen her around before?

"Not that much," she said to him," I actually have only been here a couple times. I want to try something new. I think it is fun to just come here and act like a fool singing. It was cool to just sing, even though I am not that great."
She liked that about this place. You could stink at singing, but no one would care. You might get booed, but who will remember the next day?
"Yeah," she replied to his question," I have gone to Valkyrie since, well I was old enough. I am in 11th grade now. What about you."
That is why she knew almost everyone. She had been here before most people, she liked that. It also helped her get the latest gossip. She knew a lot of people here, she could get almost anything out of anyone of them.
"I am Bridget," she told him," Bridget Ainsworth. I like Oscar, it is a cool name."

"Stuck here since I can remember," he said and toasted the air. "Good, ole' Valkyrie, California. Where secrets aren't buried long." Which was true, Oscar can't remember the last time he hadn't heard a secret that hadn't gotten to someone.
"Thank you," he said referrign to the compliment to his name. "Bridget is a very nice name too. Don't get to many Bridget now-a-days." Bridget...why did that sound so familiar? Wait a second, "Aren't you friends with Anne?" He would have sworn seeing the two together. Actually, Oscar thought he met Bridget at the party, (one of the few he went to.)

"Really?" she said to him," and you think we would have seen more of each other. The secret thing is right."
When you tell a secret here, don't expect for it to be secret. It will get around to the whole school soon. That was good if you wanted something to get around the school. If you had a secret crush though, you might not want to tell someone here.
"Thanks," she said when he complemented her name," Wait, Anne Lévesque. Yeah, she is like one of my best friends! We hang out all the time. I think I remember seeing you around at a party or something!"

"Yeah, a party. I haven't really been to much. Partying is just... not me. But, do you party often?" he asked. It was a stupid question. All the girls did. Just keep the conversation going now... he coaxed himself in his head.
"Most of the time, my friends drag me to ones, but that been like three in the past two years. Impressive, huh?" he said and laughed at himself. He failed to see the day when he would call himself: Oscar Lyon, The Party Animal.

"Me? Party often?" she said," You could say that. I think it is fun to just go and have a good time. You should go more often."
Bridget was definitely the party type. She loved to go out with her friends and have a good time. She loved it almost more then anything.
"Speaking of partys.." she told him," I am having a party this weekend. I am turning seventeen. You should come, it will be tons of fun. There will be no parents, just tons of partying. It would be fun if you came! Everyone is invited, so you can bring someone if you want.'
She was having a awesome party this weekend. No parents, just a bunch of high school kids. It was going to be off the hook!

Oscar chuckled as she admitted she partied hard. He noticed a rather large man get on stage. Madonna's famous, "Like a Virgin" song started to play. "Jesus," he said to Bridget, "Now I have seen everything," he looked at her, "I can die happy." He started to laugh and she mentioned that she was having a party.
"You're birthday?" he debated with himself, "You know. Why not? Some partying may do me some good. You live up in the Valks?" he asked.

As the Madonna song ended, Antony Bastian stood up, his face fire-engine red. His friends wanted him to sing for the crowd.
Granted, he had sung many times before. He used to sing for a little garage-band type thing, so his voice wasn't awful, he just preferred...not to be singing in public. That is why he quit the band in the first place.
As he began to walk away from the stage, someone yelled out his name, and he turned, "YOU DOUCHE! GET ON STAGE!" He friend hollered, laughing. Antony shook his head, "Why don't you go screw yourself?" He called back, "Wait, you already do!"
He laughed, feeling like an idiot. Whenever he and his friends got together, his buddies would get drunk, and he would just be his usual, sober self. Corny jokes and all. He stepped onto the stage, debating what song to sing, and cleared his throat. The spotlight went on, and he adjusted his thick, black-framed Kenneth Cole glasses. He was feeling very self-conscience, in his black Diesel jeans and canary-yellow t-shirt with his matching slip-on shoes. Designer, of course.
Before he could talk himself out of it, he requested the lyrics for a song he actually enjoyed singing: Something Corporate's 'Drunk Girl'.
As the cheesy synth-piano started up, the lyrics were sent from his eyes to his mouth, and he began singing, very nervously.
"I kissed a drunk girl I kissed a drunk girl, yes I did Kissed a drunk girl on the lips I let my guard down how could I have been so dumb Her eyes were open I know I am not the one I know I am not the one I know I am not the one!"
As the song progressed, he got more into it, loosening up. It was harder for him to do this, all the other people had been at least slightly intoxicated when they were up here, all he had in his was a cap-full of nyquil for his cough.
"I know you don't care about me I'm sure when all is said and done and I go home feeling lonely You will have had your fun do you even remember?
I kissed a drunk girl Why do I do these things I do to myself I kissed a drunk girl and now I'm sure and now I'm sure I could've been anybody else!"
As the song began to end, he did one of his dorky shimmy-shimmy moved, and hopped off stage, shaking his head with embarrassment.
"What the hell was I thinking?" He asked himself, laughing.
