Dawn was always the best time to be on the beach, Jessica decided. It wasn't hot, but it wasn't cold either. It was warm. Warm, and light.
The breeze was light, thank god, or else she would probably be freezing standing there in her bikini. The water lapped gently at her ankles, bringing in tiny fish that avoided the strange towers that had invaded their underwater world.
She stepped father out into the water, shivering as a new part of her body was exposed to the cold water. She forced herself forward, once the water reached about her waist she leaned forward, hopping face forward into the water. A mini dive.
She surfaced again only a few feet away from where she had gone under. It just took a little getting used to, that was all.
