full name: Mary Quinn Connors, people usually call her Mair, Quinn or MC
gender: Female
age: 18
university year: Junior, she skipped 8th-10th grade, age wise she should be a senior in high school
major: Undeclared
minor: Undeclared
job: Works at the Antique store in the Book section
portrayed by: Isla Fisher
appearance: Mary is a sucker for shopping and cute clothes and accessories goes but that's about as far as her interest in looks goes. She is not one of those girls that freak over a broken nail of a bit of dirt smudge. But like most girls on the planet she still tries to look decent and make due with what she's got. She does appreciate style and flare though. Her style is unique, she wears anything she's comfy in and thinks is cute or fun. She can dress goofy on occasions. But you will never see her in those expensive name brand clothes. You can always find something simpler for ten bucks at target or a second hand store anyways. She loves knee socks and mary janes. She loves scarves and large dangly earrings. She loves rock band t-shirts and vests, pin stripes.
Her hair is almost always down. She loves her hair and usually only will pull back the top part if anything. She is a natural born red head and wouldn't want it any other way. Her mother was a Irish girl after all, the red hair was fitting. Her father always said she looked a lot like her mother. She had her mother's eyes, big brown chestnut eyes that expressed any emotion that was going through the redhead's mind, no matter how well she faked her tone or body language or smile. Long dark eyelashes and although she does use a bit of mascara or eye liner she only used browns mostly for she didn't need much to make her eyes pop.
Her complexion is rather fair. She could have gotten that from either parent since her mother was an irish redhead and her father a blonde haired blue eyes british man. She sun burns easily and there fore sun tan lotion is her friend. Her mouth is fairly small although she had large teeth. She already went through braces so their straight but still decent sized. Her lips are full, especially her bottom lip and a rather nice natural shade of pink that really she just uses berts bees shimmer to make it a tad more noticeable. Her facial structure is what really makes her look like her dad. While her mother had a very delicate small skull, Mare has a wider face.
She is thin but not boney or anything. Unlike many around Valkyrie, she even gains and loses weight a lot, she's always teetering between 110lbs and 120lbs and yeah that may seen extremely thin, but remember, she's only 5'2" plus the wider face makes her appear larger, as well as her c-cups. She's petite but not bony. Hey if she pulls her face back in a certain way it can even look like she has a small double chin at some angles. You know, like the average food eater? But in VA? being able to make something that resembles anything fat has got to be the most horrific thing ever right? She tends to describe herself as chubby, which she isn't and she's not super cry-ee over it or anything, she just uses it as a way to describe herself like redhead, button nose, short, etc. But she is a tad delusional to think she's chubby.
Oh one more thing, this isn't so much appearance but its not pure personality. Her voice is rather unique. She used to have a strong Irish accent when she was like seven, but then she moved to NYC, brooklyn and she lost a bit of her irish accent and took on some of the new york accent and now she has this weird mix of the two. Her accent is american but it's not two obvious but if you listen to her speak or rant you can pick up on this hint of an irish accent merged with a new yorker's accent.

character personality ,
personality: Oh how does that old rhyme go? "Mary, Mary, quite contrary, How does your garden grow? With silver bells, and cockle shells, And pretty maids all in a row." Ah yes, now although the original rhyme was actually a metaphor to Mary, Queen of the Scotts, but now, the first line has become a phrase that has come to mean a person who contradicts out of habit or attitude rather than any real objections to the ideas being expressed. This is why little miss Mary is so aptly name. Her mother named her before she died but little did she know how accurate she was being. Mary Quinn Connors, find arguing fun and subconsciously she will find any topic in the world to bicker with someone. Even if Mary agrees with them on the topic she'll argue the other side for the sake of playing devils advocate. She'll be "I agree but some people think like...." and then she'll be just as stubborn while fighting for the side she doesn't even believe in as she would one she does.
She's not in big fights or anything though. She never does personal attacks or takes them personally she just likes discussing and debating a lot an proving a point. She doesn't want people to get offended or hurt or anything and its pretty clear in her tone. But that doesn't mean she is not good with confrontation. She won't let people be rude to her or her friends. She is definitely upfront with any issue she has when it comes to most topics of confrontation. She doesn't really confront crushes or romantic notions. Gives opinions on other peoples lives but hardly ever turns it back on her own life and ambitions. So she can be a tad hypocritical at points, which is ironic since she really gets on hypocrisy in others.
As for Mair and romance, it's there. It is. But never with people she hangs out with. She doesn't date friends. She'll crush on friends and sometimes want to date them but she never does because she's one of those types where a lot of the time you just don't consider it. She and guy one could have so much chemistry together and be good friends for five years while she's been in love with him for 3 of them and although they would probably be a great couple, guy one would never think of her like that. If he did, he might like her. But it's just never worked out before you know? The guys she's dated have always been the type where she meets them and there is an instant mutual attraction that they tend to act on with in the night with a kiss or the week with a date. They'll date for maybe a month or two before butting heads, disloyalty or distance splits them up.
Also, its can be hard for her. She's cute, and she's pretty and she knows she is decent. But she calls herself chubby (which haley will laugh at her for btw) and just, she's quirky and opinionated and therefore she just can't see herself as sexy. She doesn't feel sexy ever, she never really tries to be because she's scared she won't be able to do it and honestly she would never be able to pull of sexy in the more sultry way. She's sexy in her own way, but she's a little self conscious to what she sees as her lack of sexiness, not that she would ever let anyone know that part. It's like she's willing to give an honest opinion on anyone or anything other than herself.
Mary is very very very smart, as evident by her skipping three grades and being a Junior in College while she's supposed to be a Senior in high school. She is the girl who has been reading the classic novels since the age of six. This girl read Rousseau at 12! and understood a lot of it, the guy was a tad nuts so she didn't get all of it but not even his scholars know and understand everything so we can forgive that right? Anyways, she is a smart girl, she could do anything if she just set her mind to something and yet there is a large possibility she will work in bookstores or antique stores all her life because she simply doesn't know what she wants to do and she doesn't know how to know.
She was raised by her dad and was definitely a daddy's girl. She grew up to be a lot like him. She believes in ghosts and spiritual things but doesn't go all crazy with it. She loves books, and art, and music. She is very into music, not playing but listening. She can play the acoustic guitar but only as a hobby, she has her dad's old guitar with her where ever she is. She loves rock and roll from the 70s and 80s. They even share the same favorite band, Cheap Trick baby! Surrender is like her life's song. Seriously, that bad was what her dad had her grow up on, and since the book he gave her is gone, that band is what connect her most to him. Play the song Dream Police and she can hardly think of anything else. She loves them and she loves the music. Plus come on, they did the theme songs to two of her favorite shows, That 70's Show and the Drew Carry Show. She also grew up around sitcoms, except she doesn't like Friends, Jennifer Anniston gives her nightmares. But her shows were like Cheers, Boy Meets World, Happy Days, Mork and Mindy, Seinfeld, Fraiser, etc.
She is very much a big city girl. She likes America almost as much as her father did. Both fell in love with New York and she will be going back. She is not too big a fan of California but yeah, anyways. She loves NY with all her heart because it seems like you can't go anywhere without running into someone you know. She loves all the small shops and how you can get coffee or tea anywhere you turn. She loves the subway and how easy it makes everything. She loves the whole rock'n'roll rustic feeling the place has, especially if you live in the lesser neighborhoods. People who lived on the upper east side, dining at 5 star restaurants and wearing clothes no one real can afford, they don't get the real NY experience. The real NY is the one of used book stores, flower shops, the smell of the fish market hovering from the morning rush, the world of independent stores having a chance of survival. New York was reading and napping in central park and getting hotdogs at the the multiple hotdog stands and giving a dollor to the dancer dressed as a robot on the corner. That's New York City, being able to have a blast simply walking around and taking in the energy.
likes: funky clothes, old books, scarves, patterns, deep warm colors, her hair, people's smiles, having an opinion, The Once and Future King, photography, films, paintings, sculptures, plays, dance, music of all types, Cheap Trick best band ever, literature, poetry, inscents, candles, aroma therapy, massages, dangly earrings, shopping, mary-janes, knee socks with skirts, Berts Bees products, ice cream, ice cream headaches, the feeling of Listerine, Eagle cigarettes, Jean Arthur, Screwball comedies of the 30's and 40s. Traveling, barbershop bands, record players, everything sounds better on vinyl.
dislikes: feeling insecure, shallow people, burping, superficial girls, insincerity, feet in her face, Hannah Montana, modern disney channel stars in general, whiny emo bands like Good Charlotte and Simple Plan, mushrooms, raw tomatoes, people who get married to young to too soon.
flaws: talks too much, can be too outspoken, cynical and unknowingly pessimistic, smokes, can read too much into things, or not read enough into them, has no clue what she wants to do when she's older, no real ambitions, still hasn't declared a major, is clumsy and not the greatest singer
habits: Talks a lot, likes to keep moving, fidgets, smokes
strengths: very smart, creative, independent, unique, stands up for herself and others, brave,
weaknesses: making life decisions, romance, can't back down in an argument.

character history ,
originated from: Dublin, Ireland[/size]
parents: Robin(dad) and Aileen Connors
siblings: none
other: Rosalyn Summers - Cousin
Haley Summers - sorta half cousin? Haley is Mare's cousin's half sister
living situation: Dorms at the moment, she will move into an apartment with Haley and Rosalyn soon
history: Robin Connors was a tall, lanky blonde haired blue eyes british boy, he was raised in London and not in the best family. Their father died when him and his two sisters were still young. He was the middle kid and he tried his best to keep the family together. They weren't that wealthy, in fact they were dirt poor after their mother became a drunk and married an asshole. Their step father was harsh and angry. He was abusive. He went after Felicity the most, Robin's older sister. Kid Robin tried very hard to try to protect her but when Felicity was 15 she ran away. He didn't hear from her for a few years. Germaine, his younger sister he was able to protect more successfully but after Felicity ran away, the abuse got far worse. So Robin and Germaine decided to run as well.
No one came after them. They went through school and tried to find Felicity but couldn't. They both got through school and got jobs. Germaine decided to take off to America when she turned 18. Robin was in college, still in London. He started to get very interested in Politics. He became a political science major and despite him being into politics, he was still an extremely fun, laid back kind of guy. Over compensating maybe, scared to turn out like his step-dad, but he didn't. Out of college he took a number of small time jobs working for local politicians. It wasn't until he was in his mid-twenties until he became a speech writer. He then got a call from Germaine who he spoke to through letters and phone every so often, wo had found Felicity, and what she did. They tried to help but felicity was stubborn. So they gave up and they all broke contact basically except for the occasional letter between Robin and Germaine who was in America.
Then he met the girl who changed his life. Her name was Aileen. He met her at a press conference. She was a Irish Girl, she took pictures for a magazine that was much like a Time Magazine kind of thing. She lived and worked in Dublin mostly but they sent her to England for a Press conference for an upcoming election. They met and got a drink together. Her red hair and big brown eyes won him over in an instant. They dated through out the election. But soon she would have to go back to Ireland. She loved her job almost as much as she loved Robin. But then he decided to make the sacrifice. He quit his job and when she came back to Ireland from England, she had a fiance with her. He had to start at the bottom of the ladder again after getting Irish citizenship. They were married and he had gotten a job working for a local politician.
Soon they learned Aileen was pregnant. They couldn't have been happier by the news but there were a lot of complications. She had to be put on bed rest things were getting so bad. The Birthing process wasn't doing any better. Aileen got to hold her baby girl in her arms long enough to call her Mary Quinn before she bleed out and died on the table. Maybe it's a circle of life thing, a life given, a life taketh away and such? Robin was crushed and happy at the same time. Either way, he was crying. Afterwards, he stayed in Ireland. Aileen loved it there and he had grown to love it and honestly, he didn't want to deal with the paper work of making Mary an English citizen, she was Irish. She was staying in Ireland.
Mary was a very finicky infant. She always needed a lot of attention, but she also laughed more than the average, or at least it seemed that way to Robin. He was a good dad, and influential seeing as he was talking to her about politics and Cheap Trick, the greatest rock band in the world, as she was 4 months old and couldn't understand a word he said. But he always told her how she would only calm down and just be cute with her huge eyes when he played the Mighty Wings by Cheap Trick and that made him quite proud. The two of them were fairly happy. You know how people say when you're happy, time seems to fly? Well, she must have been a very happy kid because before anyone knew it, seven years had passed by. She was a popular, little very outspoken, very smart, little kid.
Anyways, when she was seven her dad got a great job offer. Only issue, it was was in New York City. Mary really didn't want to go at first, and she wouldn't stop telling her dad it was a bad idea the entire flight over. But as soon as she stepped foot outside of the LaGuardia Airport, she knew she was home. Dublin was great and she loved it, but this little seven year old was built for the big city, woo. She loved the flow and energy of the whole place. She kept in touch with her old friends through letters but most of them died out, not all, but most. Not that the kids died out but the letters slowed and then stopped coming or being sent, as is natural. Her closest though kept coming. Anyways, she made some new friends, her accent slowly dissipating. Again, most of her friends were older than her, hell most of them were adults. She was a very smart kid, what could you do? She got to meet her cousin when her father got back in contact with Germaine, Rosalyn whom was actually Felicity's daughter.
She was still no fan of politics, despite the government change. It's not that she didn't form opinions on the issues but she put no faith in any of the politicians out there. There were all out for their own agenda's and interests and therefore not there for the people and it angered her. The truth was, she had seen too many candidates take advantage, use and then not even give proper credit to her father. He wrote their speeches, he ran their campaigns and then they stomp on him? Politicians, whether they be democrat or republican are out for themselves. She still planned to vote when she got old enough, because if you don't vote it insults the hundred of americans who died trying to get that right as well as, if you didn't try to stop it, you have no right to complain about who's elected.
Anyways, on her 13th birthday Mary was given a beautiful copy of The Book the Once and Future King from her father. Beautiful hard cover copy, first edition too. He wrote a very sweet inscription inside the cover that she just can't remember which kills her because this was the last gift her father ever gave her. Just about a week later Robin Connors died of a brain aneurism. The whole thing crushed Mary. She clung to old records of her fathers and the Once and Future King for weeks while she still lived in their apartment. Until Uncle Ben, not really her uncle, but father's friend. She had to go live with him, still in New York though thankfully. In the shuffle of moving, Ben found the old copy of the Once and Future King and it got lost and now every time Mary finds an inscribed copy of Once and Future King in a second hand bookstore, she buys it. It becomes more tradition than logical because she knows she'll never find it, she even buys the other editions. Uncle Ben felt horrible but she knew it was an accident. She still had her dad's guitar and records. But now she guards those with her life.
She wasn't crazy depressed but honestly she wasn't in a good place. And anyone who knew her before who saw her at that point knew if because she was more soft spoken. Soon she said fuck it and she just wanted to get out and away so when her principal told her she could skip three grades, even though he didn't recommend it, she took it. She graduated high school at 15 and was off to college to the only place she got a full ride to in Valkyrie University. She had the grades and extracurriculars to get other full rides but people were worried about a 15 year old in college. She didn't like that it was West Coast but she just wanted to get out and be herself. So to Cali she went. She spent her freshman year there, connecting with a few people and gaining her happy, quirky, outspoken self back. She was happy there, but it will never be home, not like New York was.
And honestly a lot of the other kids around Valkyrie were hard to get along with, there was a lot of shallowness around and that bugged her. She dated, mostly older since most guys she met were older, she lost her virginity at sixteen, almost seventeen, not too old or too young. She wasn't a slut at all, but nor was she considered a prude by any stretch. She was just an average dater. After her freshman year she had the urge to take off again so she did the study abroad program back in Dublin for her sophomore year. Dated some more, wrote postcards and letters and emails to her best friend. She had fun and it was cool seeing some people she hadn't seen face to face since she was 7. She wasn't ready for Cali just yet when the school year was finished, so she went to Greece, a place she had wanted to go to since she was a little kid and saw the movie Hercules. She loved it there. If NY wasn't her home, Greece would have been. She connected with most of the people she met there instantly and just had a blast.
But as she turned 18 on december 18th, her golden birthday, she knew she had to get back sometime soon. Plus she missed a few people and the majority of her things which were in college campus storage which was almost as expensive as a dorm room. But she had to wait a bit longer. she waited until her semester was over in early january. She hoped on a plane and first went to NY to visit for a few weeks with Uncle Ben and see a bit of her home city before taking a plane cross country. She got in the night before the big BBQ, and only a select few know she's going to be around.
