Drama is All Fine and Well
Hey there my favorite V-Siders, Anna here!
Just want to bring to light a few small concerns some of the staff and I are starting to have about the site at large. And it really only has to do with the issue of realism in our little V-side worlds.
This is a fun role playing site, fiction and full of drama. We're all like a written form of One Tree Hill or The OC and other very dramatic shows that circle around themes of friendship, romance, drugs, sex, scandal. But we also tend incorporate a bit of the more crime driven shows. We had the Italian Mob through Valkyrie, Lainey's Paolo, My Miles. We've got kids from crime families and involved in gangs, Asia's future Blair, my Sirens, chels' Rhodes, etc and more. This is all fine and well. We even have a couple of more random psycho charries.
There are psycho killers in this world, so we are happy and interested in having them here, the only issue we are starting to notice is how it is a growing trend of murderers and not so much that because the organized crime aspect is all realistic ENOUGH to get by so naturally many of those are going to have killed before. But, it is truly rare for 395735 psycho killers to all come to the same place. We don't have too many, but it's gaining so the staff is going to start to limit the number of slightly more far fetched killers coming into Valkyrie. WE ARE NOT ASKING ANYONE TO CHANGE THEIR CHARRIES. We wouldn't want you to, besides we are some that have them. But one thing we would appreciate is if we could all remember to keep it more realistic. Randomly killing people in posts, even if they're not real charries to us, is not something we would like to happen because in the Valkyrie world, sure they're extra's too us, but they're real people, with family and people will look for them, the police will do an investigation and if we allow members to have characters killing on a whim and yet the police never get to them or they're never hunted down or whatever... it just pushes us a little bit overboard on how far we're allowing reality to be stretched and face it, we already stretch it pretty far.
We would like to remember that in the real world these things happen, random killings are not as common as you would think and they are taken very seriously in our world as they should be in Valkyrie and by us not taking them seriously we feel it might be a bit disrespectful as well as slightly far-fetched.
We don't for anyone to feel attacked or threatened by this, lol. That is by no means what we are trying to do. This is just a little reminder about reality. Drama is great, we love it. We all stretch the realism a bit, just like One Tree Hill or those other shows, but we don't want it to become so over the top that it might turn people off to the site, ourselves included.
Signed with love, The VA Staff
