Appearance:
Dean is an attractive guy, but he's not what you would call a "pretty boy." He's a bit rougher than that, rouged, handsome, Those are some of the words that describe his general look and appeal. He stands tall, broad shoulder, in shape, and a strong jaw line but it's not the over all that really makes him look and feel like Dean, it's the little individual traits that have attached themselves to him that makes him who he is and so damn desirable. The Short brown hair, his eyes, his jaw, his dimples, his smile, etc.
When it comes to his facial features, I have already mention his strong jaw line. He has a very strong chin and jaw line, which takes away from the "pretty boy" and gives to the more masculine rouged look. But aside from that, the bone structure in his facial area isn't that significant. He doesn't have ultra high cheek bones or an over powering brow that takes away from his eyes. His eyes are small, not beady or creepy but small. They have a softness to them, a concerning look to them, but when he's happy they light up and shine for everyone to see. They are blue eyes, not grey, not green, blue and a strong, solid blue at that. In some lights, they are a bright blue, it's usually the moment he hears those famous words "I never noticed how blue your eyes were". But anyways, no matter how many times he hears, "you have such pretty eyes Dean" He'll never believe it. He sees those eyes and his worst physical feature.
His mouth is something else. Beautiful, healthy, straight white teeth, him and niece are both big on dental hygiene. His lips are a light rosy color most of the time but if he is freezing he's one of those people's who's lips will turn a light purple/magenta coloring first and the light tan color of his skin pales more and he becomes whiter than usual. But when he smiles, not only is he handsome but he is adorable. He had these dimples that form on the sides of his face and those beautiful teeth show threw and his eyes get this boyish happiness to them that's hard to explain.
Dean has never been too serious about sports, but he has always enjoyed them, so one would expect him to be in decent shape. The thing most don't understand is that he walks most every where. He is a traveler, it's what he does. Most of the time in his life was spent, walking, bike riding, mountain climbing, hitch hiking, and sleeping outside. Given this it's fair to assume he is in great shape. He is an adventure seeker, he's a bit more into extreme sports you could say. His arms are strong, he can lift most girls like they weigh nothing. He's got a six pack to kill for and yet he isn't over muscled, nor does he really look like he spends hours in the gym. He gets his body the way god intended, living life. Which also explains the scars he has, both large and small.
Personality:
Dean screws up a lot, makes a lot of mistakes. He can seem heartless and careless at some moments but he has a good heart. He's a good guy in all. He's a really good and loyal friend and probably the least judgmental person on the planet. Name any type of person and he has been friends with someone in that "category." But the truth is he hates putting people into those categories. He's not the type that when describing a good friend to someone won't say "He's a total nerd" or "the cute black girl" because those words can be used to describe someone, not define them. He has always been the guy with a lot of friends, where ever he goes he tends to have places to go and people to see. He has friends in a million different countries. He's that guy who people get comfortable with fairly quickly and girls tend to fall for even quicker. But, as many friends he has, girlfriends he's had and one night stands, none of those are truly life changing, at least not to him, and not to them unless it's in a painful way because no matter what he will always leave again. He'll come back, to visit, but never stay.
Dean is a traveler. . He doesn't need money to travel because he travels on foot, on bike, hitch hiking, smaller planes that his friends own, or planes used to ship goods, he has a friend who's a pilot who sneaks him on to get him across seas. He takes odd jobs for food money and the occasional train ride, bribe, etc. Funny thing is, he does have a crap load of money in savings, he just prefers the less commercial routes to get him places. And then his numerous friends provide shelter or he'll sleep outside. He's the out doors kind of guy. He really like spontaneity. That commercial with the snow boarders who take up and leave whenever they get a call? Yeah, that's him just without the long curly red hair and snowboards. This is both a good and bad thing. The Good part of how much he travels is that he really is a very worldly guy. He knows a lot of different cultures and can speak a lot of languages, not fluently but basic conversation kind of stuff, enough to charm women and meet people to hang out with and get a place to stay if it's a cold night. He has experienced and been influenced by a lot of different things and that is a very good thing
But his constant wandering is also a very bad thing for anyone who dares to love him, or expect him to stick around. If you grow attached to Dean, to the point of wanting to know he'll always be there for you, you will get you heart broken, whether you loved him romantically, as a friend or as a much needed uncle. Because of this, he also has a lot of hurt and angry people in a lot of places, mainly women, and their husbands. Every once and awhile he hurts someone and he wants to keep it a good relation ship so he'll fight to gain trust again, but eventually, he'll just leave, again and hurt them. He had a selfish want to just be able to show up any time and be welcomed with open arms but then be able to abandon them. It's selfish, it wrong, but it's part of Dean's nature.
Some may wonder why so many let him in if he's just going to keep leaving? Well, he's addictive. Dean's a talker, he talks about his travels, is a bit of an open book on most matters. He's witty and funny as he speaks, but he never fails to seem interested in what the other person has to say. He's a funny guy, not afraid to be a goof around children, or to make an ass of himself charming a girl. He has been called the best first date, because there will never be a second but you will always want one. And as self absorbed as he seems sometimes, deep down he is not a self assured guy. He see's himself as a coward. He pretends not to know why he has the need to keep moving but he know. He knows he is just too scared to get settled because then he might actually feel something for someone and that would give them a bit of control over his life. He is scared that if he stands still too long, someone might see what a loser he truly is; a high school drop out, with no stable job, no where to live, no steady girlfriends, a brother he hates, dead parents, a nephew in a coma and niece he abandoned.

History:
Max Stillings was a self made mad. He lost his mother as a kid and his father was a coal miner in a small town. He didn't have many opportunities. He worked hard as a kid, as a teenager and a young man. He ended up marrying the girl everyone expected him to Cara Lynne. With her he had his first child, a boy with his mother's dark brown hair that looked almost black. He was named Joeseph. From when Joe was a young kid he was powerful boy. He was smart, school practically bored him because he could do it all so easily. Max had high hopes for his first born boy. And although Max and Cara kept trying for another kid, they never got one. By the time Joe had hit ten years old, Cara had practically given up. By the time Joe was 20, both Max and Cara had given up. And it was also a disappointment to Joe, for not only did he want a little brother, he also wanted some of the pressure off of him. Joe was pushed into activity after activity. School after school, his father pulling the old, I never had a chance to do this. It wasn't fair and Joe became rather bitter, heading towards a life as someone he didn't want to be. When Joeseph turned 21, his mother died of lung cancer, securing that Joe would specialize in Oncology. He graduated top of his class and was immediately accepted into Medical school in Madison, Wisconsin and engaged to the beautiful Cindy Carter. Really she was everything someone could want in a wife, loyal, kind, and she had that motherly voice, not a pop-stars singing voice but that voice you hear when you think of lullabies. And when he was around her he wasn't nearly so crass as he was around everyone else, she tamed him down.
To Joe's everlasting embarrassment, his father re-married a younger woman when he was 23 and year later his new "step mom" Elaine Stillings had given birth to the one thing he had wanted all his life, a little brother. But the marriage didn't last long as Elaine died giving birth after naming his Dean Theodore Stillings. Dean was a beautiful little boy with bright blue eyes. And Joe took a liking to him, despite what he called his "unfortunate breeding" Joe doesn't believe in re-marraige. He was a big part of Dean growing up, and Dean looked up to Joe, he was an older brother, successful and no matter how big the Age difference siblings have a bond. But two years after Dean was born, another baby boy joined the family. Joe had his first son, Chase Stillings. And then, just one more year out popped a girl, Laura Stillings. Both Laura and Chase looked much more like Cindy, their mother and Dean, their uncle, much more so than Joe. Infact as Laura grew older she looked more and more like Cindy. As Joe's career progressed, he spent less time at home. It was basically Cindy and Grandpa Max raising Uncle Dean and Laura and Chase.
Then when Dean ten years old Cindy died of cervical cancer. Grandpa Max moved Dean out of the house, to give Laura, Chase and Joe some time to breath and grieve. No idea of what kind of man Joe was becoming in his grief and drink and what danger these two children were in looking so much like their mother. Two years past and Joe seemed to have cut Max and Dean out of his life until Dean reached the age of 13 and Max finally died, rather peacefully. Remember he had Joe in his thirties and now Joe is in his late thirties, Max was getting old and seeing he worked in a coal mine for most of his life, his lungs were weak. Dean simply went in to get a ride to school when he found Max, seemingly asleep but not willing to wake up.
Dean was sent to live with his older brother, now his guardian. Dean was perfectly happy about that at the time, he still remembered Joe as the successful doctor, rising in wealth and Fame. Him moving in was a signal for Dr. Stillings to get a better paid doctor and with his reputation he was wanted many places. He finally took a job in Valkyrie, California an so that it when they moved, Dean along sides them, but something about this family felt different to Dean, his once idolized brother was so tense all the time. Chase was becoming on angry little kid and Laura just didn't seem to want to talk to anyone, and they had these bruises that it was a little weird to see on an 11 and ten year old. Not on their knees but around their torsos and necks. And within his first night staying at their new home in Valkyrie the 13 year old Dean got to see first hand what his older brother had become. Dean, Chase and Laura soon became very close. Joe never hit Dean, probably because Dean was his brother not son. But Dean feared more and more for those kids. Dean became a big support system for young Laura especially, Chase and him were basically just best friends with a brother like bond. Laura, although he was only three years older, he was more like an uncle to her.
He hated those few years, he felt powerless so at fifteen, he left. He didn't care about school, he just felt like he was doing no good where he was. He considered inviting Laura and Chase, they were fairly mature for their age, but Dean was a fifteen year old boy! He couldn't be responsible for them, he was too young. He was too young to be on his own but he felt old for a fifteen year old. So he left with no good bye but a note saying he would be back eventually. Chase seemed to understand but Laura, who had always gotten the worst of Joe do to her stunning resemblance to her mother and Joe's perverted obsessions that he no longer seemed to feel bad about, she didn't. Dean spent the next year wandering. He had caught a bus up to Seattle and got a job in this old man's shop. He stayed with that man, sleeping in the back room for a month or two, earning a few school credits here and there, but mostly working, but after being there he felt anxious. He had started to make friends, had his first real girlfriend but he felt like he needed to leave. So he caught a bus and rode it until they kicked him off and then he grabbed another one, just to see where he would land.
He was dumped in Maine. And while he scrounged for money, begging for change when needed he saw an older women struggling to carry home her groceries and her walker. Dean, being Dean, ran over to help. The women could not have been sweeter, she was 91 years old, not sick but her bones were deteriorating on her. Dean felt safe around her and he came back to visit, not only did she have the most amazing stories of her past but she was a great cook and he needed the food. She told him all about her life. She told him of her years as a teen girl during prohibition and all the little tricks they had to sneak liqueur into parties, about her late teens/ early twenties in the depression and how she had her boyfriend hopped a boat to Europe. She had been in Denmark as it was invaded by the Nazi's. She watched as the Christian Danish king put the star of David on his clothes to say that the Nazi's weren't going to have their Jews. She actually watched as the Nazi's walked away, embarrassed. Her boyfriend was soon enlisted into the British army and went off to war right after breaking up with her, probably thinking it best. She would laugh and tell Dean how she never actually loved this boy, and he never loved her, they were just having fun. No, She only loved one man, a man named Ben Harper. She met him as she was staying in a community bombshelter just outside of London. He was five years older and as she put it "eyes as blue as dean's" And they ran away together and married. They traveled to Africa and India and walked along the wall of China. They really lived. But when she got pregnant they made their way back to the States where they settled into the old house than Dean and Her sat in. They had one baby girl who tragically fell ill and died before the age of three. As Devastating as it was for them Arnold and her lived together in that house, managing a small flower shop and staying madly in love. Arnold then passed a few years ago and Dean really was the first person she had ever really spoken to since. She blamed it on the blue eyes Dean and Arnold shared.
Dean stayed with her the rest of the year until one night, she went to sleep and refused to wake up. It was the second time Dean had went into a room to wake up someone who would never be awake again. But after her funeral he was informed that she left him everything she had. The House, the store and &250,000 in saving. He sold the store for a good deal of money and traded that beautiful old house to a charity for the homeless for the shack of a building they were staying in. He made sure to get the building marked as a historical landmark. Now it's a shelter for those in search of a home and a beautiful one at that. It's what the old lady, Thelma, would have wanted. Then he sold the shack to the state. Over all he ended up with almost $450,000 in the bank. She might not have known it but Thelma had set him for life, at least the way he lived. She had inspired him, reached him in a way no one else had. So dean took off again, got a ticket straight to Valkyrie. He was now almost 17.
When he got Valkyrie he met his 13 and 14 year old niece and nephew. Chase welcomed him back with open arms. Chase had become a key school member in his absence, a champion swimmer, and apparently Laura had begun working in the theatre non stop. Both seemed great on outside but it was pretty clear by bruises, small glances and just habbits they both had that they were pretty screwed up kids. Laura, unlike Chase was angry with Dean for leaving. She wouldn't speak to him so he spent a few days with Chase, talking like old times again. Chase was telling Dean what happened, that after Dean left Joe had gotten worried he had gone to the police so he stopped. That Chase and Laura spent that first month hoping every police car contained Dean and that they were going to get out but by the second month they had given up, realized Dean wasn't coming back and Joe got worse, laughing at it almost. No longer did he have to be drunk to touch laura and beat the shit out of them. And he no longer cried himself to sleep out of guilt. How Laura slept in the school's theatre and how Chase spent a lot of nights at his best friend Luke Summitt's house. Dean felt bad about leaving but when Laura confronted him, telling him that he was coward and that he left them for dead, leave is what he did, again.
The next few years Dean spent mainly on his own but almost never on his own. He used the money and took Thelma's advice, "See as much as you can and Live as well as you can." He took off and went everywhere, gaining friends, more girls, adventure, rock climbing. He went to the middle east and saw the war first hand, he met Tony Blaire, he snuck into concerts and met celebrities, he walked for Darfur, he protested Bull fighting in Spain. He lived in the Amazon, exploring, among a tribe near the river. He had been inside some of the pyramids in Egypt. He lived his life, got a lot of friends but never fell in love. A lot of women, a lot of fun. And every year, maybe a couple times for a few days at most he would go back to Valkyrie to check up on Laura and Chase. He and Chase had spoken a few times but they never even told Laura that he was around. To Laura he was dead, emotionally at least. Dean even hooked up with a few girls in Valkyrie, there were a lot of girls in Valkyrie, he had become friends with people there, but he never stayed and Laura never knew. He was in Japan when he checked how the swim meet valkyrie was in went((always a fan of the Falcons)) and in the article it stated that they Swim captain Chase Stillings was put into a coma after him and his sister were in a car crash. Which cause Dean to make his way back, once again, to Valkyrie, this time planning to stick around a bit and try to rekindle his relationship with Laura, hoping to make things right and perhaps even get those last few credits needed to get his highschool diploma.
