Parents: Seamus and Rachel Turner

Regan - Younger Brother - 16
Appearance:
Label him what you want but girls seem to peg him a cross between ‘jock’ and ‘tall dark and handsome.’ Reed is just what they say he is. Through-out high school he was the ladies’ man. He stands about six foot and weighs a toned 150 pounds. Reed has chocolate brown eyes that stand out and brown hair. His skin has a usual all-around tan from out on the beach most of the summer and he played many outdoor sports through-out his high school years. Such as, football, basketball, and swimming. Reed works out... a lot. That six-pack didn’t work itself. He is athletic and loves to do any out-door activities.
Reed would most likely be seen in jeans and a t-shirt. Comfort comes before anything. He doesn’t dress like a uber prep, but he wouldn’t be caught dead in over baggy pants and a shirt three sizes too big.. He dresses like most boys (to some degree) his age.
Yes, he’s Irish, born to both Irish parents. But you wonder why he’s not sporting red hair ? Well, the truth is he did have red hair as a kid. But after being teased in elementary school continuously in seventh grade he put his foot down to his parents and started dying his hair since. As for his eyes, they were always such a pretty intense brown. Reed had always had the Irish charm and the accent.
Personality:
Reed loves to have a good time. You ask him to describe himself? Passionate, competitive, romantic, and goofy come to his head immediately. He says he’s passionate because he really does put all his effort into whatever he’s doing, or whoever he’s with. He’s competitive due to the fact that he was in sports almost all his life. He can get competitive over anything. Games, sports and even at times...girls. Romantic should really be Reed’s middle name. If he is in a serious relationship, (which have only been a few,) he really does give the girl his soul. Call him a true romantic but he truly gives a girl his full attention. And last but not least you have goofy. Reed can really be funny, even without knowing it. When you are with him, you will laugh and enjoy his company. Roll those four things into a ball and it makes Reed.
History:
Born in Dublin, Ireland, moved to California when he was ten, Reed had a pretty normal childhood.
His parents were both Ireland natives and lived in Dublin all their lives. High-school sweethearts Seamus and Rachel got married almost right after they graduated. A year later, out popped Riley. They lived in Ireland, Rachel as a stay-at-home mom, and Seamus as a lawyer of a small firm. Six years after living in Ireland, Reed was born. But shortly after the birth of Reed, the firm relocated to the states where the family moved to Valkyrie. As said before in elementary school Reed often got teased and formed the name ‘big red.’ But, his parents refused for him to get his hair colored. When he got to jr. high he finally got his wish and died it from red to brown.
As much as he tried he hadn’t rid himself from his Irish accent. He had often mimicked his friends’ voices to talk with an American accent but it hadn’t worked. Leaving his less than thick accent stuck, but it seemed to work on the girls. By high school, the girls seemed to swoon over him. Caught by surprise, but not complaining Reed was busy almost every weekend filled with dates. Yes, he began to become a ‘player’ due to the fact that he had a girl around his finger every week. Many of his classmate thought he was a cheater but, he /never/ cheated. He just wasn’t that type. But from word-of-mouth he got the reputation of being a cheater. Surprisingly though that just wanted the girls to want him more.
Of course there were a few girls that he had a long term relationship with. But, one ended up moving, another just flat out left poor Reed for another guy, and the last one Reed just broke up with her because she became a little to ‘needy.’ So, his love-life wasn’t like his parents, but, that didn’t bring Reed down. The summer is here and that means he may find the girl he has been looking for.
He and his brother had been pretty close, but once Riley finished highschool, he moved to L.A, and attented UCLA where he is going to become a teacher. He talks to Reed often and comes to visit him about once every other month. He doesn't think Reed is a 'failure' like their father thinks, but that doesn't been he is against his father.
As for the future, Reed actually has no clue. He hadn’t applied to any college. He really didn’t know what he wanted to be when he ‘grew up’. He couldn’t see sports outside of leisure time and high-school. That alone caused his Dad to get furious with him. His parents nagged him about his future and what he should do and how he should do it and this and that until Reed couldn’t take it any longer and moved out. Now, his family wasn’t the richest as some of the people were in Valkyrie so, left with little money and no job Reed was forced to move into a shabby apartment building in Valkyrie’s lower side of town. As for work, he is working at the Nonsense, a hard-core club that only attracts the “bad kids”, as an assistant to the manager. Though it seems like Reed is doing it all himself. The manager often leaves it up to Reed to book local bands and make sure everything is working smoothly. For all his work Reed just barely makes the cut for rent. Even with his poor living conditions rent and taxes on the apartment are high, and on top of that school. But, Reed sees it just one day at a time.
Flaws:
Everyone has them, no one’s perfect. Reed has them just like everyone else is Hawaii, (or the ones that haven’t had work down on those things you grow to hate.) Reed often gives into bribes, pressures, and pleas. One of the reasons of pressures was smoking and alcohol. The result was cigarettes in his pocket and the occasional beer when he is stressed. At a party one of his friends talked him into having a beer. He did say no, but that friend nagged him the entire night. Reed eventually gave in against his best judgement.
Reed also leaps before he looks. Sometimes he ignores the little voice in his head that says, “Wait, Reed, will that get you in trouble?” or, “Reed, I’m pretty sure that will hurt their feelings.”
But, he says, or does, it before he can stop himself. In other words: he tells it like it is.
Living Situation:
Explained in history. Lives in apartment in the Shaks.
A Roleplaying Sample:
With a Corona held loosely at the neck and a cigarette in the other Reed felt pretty shitty. It was five in the morning and he was sitting in a crummy lawn chair located on the small, rotting wood, patio of his cruddy apartment building. He wore flannel pajama bottoms and no shirt. It was a bit chilly for the slightly foggy morning of Valkyrie but, Reed was just too pissed off to even think about the temperature at the moment. He brought the beer up to his lips and took a swig. Yeah, he was already drinking this early. If you had the night he had you would be drinking too.
First, the band Reed had booked fell through at the last moment. As you know, Nonsense is nothing with out its live shows. So, Reed called the fall-back band. Their “music” is basically screaming into the microphone and stinging to chords on their guitars. This band is always the last resort. After just barely making the rider list on such sort notice Reed put them on. BIG mistake. As Reed knew, all they did was scream nonsense in the mike and got the ‘boos’ from everyone in the crowd. Now, most people would get through tomatoes to get performers of the stage right? Well, not /this/ crowd. They threw the beer at them. Oh yes, beer. Before Reed could do anything all hell broke loose. The band was throwing their instruments at the audience and soon everyone was hitting everyone. The police were called and since the manager wasn’t there Reed got slapped with the damage charges. The manager was going to be bad he could say that once he found out. The rest of the night was pretty much a blur he could just barely remember what happened /after/ that.
“I was looking all over for you.”
Reed turned his upper half body around to see who stood there. Oh, yeah. Now he remembered. A very pretty blonde came over in a white t-shirt that was probably Reed’s. It was about 3 sizes to big for her body but, she pulled it off.
‘Damnit. She’s already going through my shit already. Next thing I know she’s picking out fucking China patterns. Goddamn, what was it with girls? You say you like them and they think you’ll be getting married.’ She. What the hell was her name? Caroline? Or was it Carrie? This was not like him at all. And it wasn’t in his agenda to bring over anyone last night either. He must have been a.) Too wasted, b.) Too wasted, or c.) Both.
She came over slowly before splaying her hands against his bare chest and kissed him on the cheek. Then, she found her way to his lips and kissed him more. As they kissed Reed remembered her from the week earlier. ‘Oh, yeah.’ She had been at Nonsense before, she was a regular. They had flirted yes, and last night had gone a little more than flirting. But, sadly Reed couldn’t see their relationship past the one night stand and he knew it was going to be tough to break it off with her. Well, read already knew not to began any sentence with, “We need to talk,” and never end the sentence with, “It wasn’t you it was me.” So, how else was he going to tell her? He felt bad, really he did. This girl just isn’t the girl he wants to spend time with for the summer.
After the early morning make-out session Reed sat her down on the opposite lawn chair. He inhaled his cigarette and exhaled slowly. It was either now...or...well, now.
“Caroline, look...” he began.
“It’s Carrie,” she said a cloud over her face. Reed winced, whoever said to go with your first instinct was either high or never confused one girl with two names. “Right...Carrie. Look, this thing between you and me...I don’t think it’s going to work out.” Ok, so that wasn’t the right use of terms he had thought of. He took another swig of his beer and looked at her.
The cloud over her face seemed to disappear, replacing was red cheeks. She was either pissed off, humiliated, or both. “But, I thought....” she trailed off. Humiliation it was.
They sat their for a few moments in silence with the occasional sound of beer swirling in the can. What was he suppose to say, ‘Lets just be friends?’ After another couple minutes the blonde green eyed beauty got up. “I guess I’ll change and leave then.” All Reed could do was nod.
Five minutes later he heard his door open and close. That was a record. Fastest time dressed and left. Reed finished the can and threw the unfinished cigarette. No way he was going to sleep anymore. Might as well go down to Nonsense to see all the damage done. He was certain it was going to be different when he was not wasted. It was pretty bad last night. He was sure it was going to look worse today.
