Appearance:
One thing you should know about Chanel is that she really does not like changing herself. When it comes to fashion, well yes, that does change. She use to think that changing herself to be 'accepted' into a fast-pace world she put herself in was do-able, but, she began to realize that it wasn't fun not being yourself and began to do things the way she wanted them to be done in. So, after many years of changing herself, she finally was able to accept who she was physically and now she is more confident in herself, and boy, does that shows through on her personality as well as her physical presence.
Her hair is one of those colors people envy; she is a red head. The myth goes that if you have red hair, you want another color, and if you have any other color, you wish you had read. Chanel use to be one of those girls growing up. She use to spend days on days begging her parents to let her change it. But every day her mother would say no. Years passed, and Chanel still had her red hair, with a growing need to change it up a bit. When she was fifteen she moved to New York, to the all-girls boarding school. Now, she had felt a little bit free, so what does she do within a week of getting to New York? Colors her hair, of course! And so the red hair her mother always told her that her red could never be bought in a bottle, was gone. In the place of it was a darker brown. But, when she had visited her family on one of her breaks when she still lived in Iowa, it did not sit well with her mother, and some how Ree-Ann was able to convince Chanel to wash it all out. So, she was a red head again. But, the summer before she became a Senior, she became a brunette again. But, just a few weeks ago, she got it back to her original color. Why? Because she knew how unique she looked with her red locks. Her mother, over-joyed with Chanel finally finding her satisfication with what she was born with. When it comes to main-taining her hair. She isn't one of those girls who are like 'hair, hair, hair. Oh my god, hair.' No, she does let it get a little wild, but not to the point where it looks greasy and gross. But, she doesn't spend hours on her hair to make it look perfection. She's ok with the 'messy on purpose' or 'wind-blown' hairdos. But, she still knows when you have to look pulled together, and the hair does it all when presenting yourself, so it's not that she doesn't take pride in her hair, she just thinks one of those things aren't as important as your other appearance qualities.
The girl is pale. One thing she did not get in the gene pool of her Brazilian father. She got her mother's skin of gorgeous white skin. She was very cautious about her skin in her early ages. Always putting on sunscreen, even if it was just to go on a walk. But as she grew older, she got a little lazier, only putting on sunscreen when her parents forced her too, and even that wasn't enought. Every summer since she was twelve she slowly stopped using sunscreen altogether until she was full of freckles all over. Even if she hadn't, somehow, red head are more prone to getting freckles, especially on their fair skin. Chanel was never horrified when she got all these freckles. They never mattered to her. It was just another thing to add to her uniqueness.
As for the rest of her body, well, it's much like any other seventeen year old. She's got the curves. She's not scary-skinny. But, she is one of those girls that when she gets stressed, she does loose some weight. Chanel is also an athlete and dancer, so she does keep up with staying healthy and staying fit. She is very concerned in what she puts in her body, meaning food. Now, you might think that she would be borderline eating disorder, but no. She likes to watch what she eats, because she does want to stay healthy. Speaking of watching what she eats, Chanel is a vegeterian. She hates killing animals for food, and she eats nothing with a face. She doesn't wear or eat animals, and is an activist for animal rights, she was president at her school for the animal rights club.
Style. Well, Chanel is quite the fashionista. She loves clothes, and with her parents' wealth, is was never hard for her to get the designer clothes and accessories that she always wanted. One of the reasons why she wanted to move to New York City was because all of the fashion there, New York City being one of the fashion capitals of the world. Chanel was always apart of being in the nightlife of the city. She was becoming quite the socialite there with her group of friends, hitting all the nightclubs trying to get the attention from the photographers, as if they were the stars. All this was planned with great fashion statements. Again, with her parents' wealth was she able to splurge on the latests dresses, shirts, pants, skirts, anything, she was able to get. She loves fashion and everything that comes with it. High-fashion couture, or vintage threads, she's all for it, and is always walking around with the presence of a model from Elle.
An odd thing to focus on but her voice. Her voice isn't like a lot of girls her age. She has a raspy tone to her voice when she talks. It's just one of those unique voices that would make you stop talking and listening it just has that sort of attention to it. Her eyes are naturally green, but do sometimes come off as a blue color, it just depends what day you catch her with one or the other, or even both mixed together. She has an average height of 5'4" which she has been for the past couple years, and she's convinced she won't grow any taller much longer.
Along with her appearance, time to talk about the permament marks on her body, and that is not including her freckles. Yes, this girl has quite the little collection of tattoos. The first one she got was a small little heart on her hand. This was done without her parents knowing. This also caused her sister Bianca to get one, even though her parents found out Bianca wanted one and refused. So, once when Chanel and Bianca were at a party they went to get another one. Bianca, was drunk as hell, but agreed since Chanel wanted another one. Bianca got a black rose and Chanel got the words 'breathe' on her wrist. The next day though, Bianca was pissed she got such a gaudy looking one. Lastly, Chanel got a star on her other wrist, but this one is also small, like the heart she got. She wants to get another one, but just hasn't figured out what she wants this time.
Personality:
CONFIDENT, CLASSY, SPIRITUAL, CARE-FREE, STUBBORN, SMALL-MINDED, INTIMIDATING, BOSSY, RUDE, INSULTIVE
The Good;
Confident & Classy; confidence has always been with Chanel. Even from an early start, she would always volunteer to answer questions in class, because she knew they were right. Of course though, being confident isn't exactly the same as being outgoing. Chanel use to be on the shy side. Making friends in elementary school was hard for her, and she always seemed to befriend the kids that no one really liked. You may think that she did this out of being 'nice' well, no her mother told her later on that Chanel did this because she never wanted people to be 'above her'. As in, Chanel didn't want people 'higher up' than she was. With that, Chanel backed down on that a bit and would start to befriend anyone, because she never wants to be better than anyone else, but sadly though, this girl has a very strong impression to everyone that she does think she is better. Though her confidence was with her since...forever, her classy side came through the minute she stepped off the plane in New York. The sophistication there was overwhelming to her, and she soon found her self trying to lose her accent from the midwest and trying to talk like a 'New Yorker'. Well, that she wasn't able to change, since she was failing miserably, but her posture, was a little straighter. Her clothes completely changed, trading in her flip-flops for stilettos.
Spiritual & Care-free; ever since Bianca became a spiritual freak yapping about karma and meditation, some of it rubbed off on Chanel. Yes, she does meditate time to time and does believe in karma. She does yoga and even attended classes in New York. This girl is also very care-free. She does like to do things without thinking of the outcome, wheter it be good or bad. This also being how much she loves to party. Though she won't admit it, but she does think California parties are more wilder than the ones that she attends in New York.
The Not-so-good;
Stubborn & Small-minded; well, to say in short, Chanel hates not getting her way. Boy, does she show it too. She has always been stubborn since she was only a little girl. If it wasn't her way, it was the wrong way. She has a 'one-tracked mind' which means that she doesn't like other's opinions in the matter or any situation. She just thinks her's is the best and only option. But sometimes, she doesn't get her way. This is when her stubbornness comes out and she gets moody and crabby. Pouting in her own little corner with Ben&Jerry's. Even if you try and open her mind to other options, it doesn't work and she won't budge. Sometimes this gets annoying to other people, but that's just something you have to deal with when you are friends with Chanel.
Intimidating & Bossy; because of her confidence and stubbornness, this results in her bossiness. She always thinks she is right, like stated before. There is no other option of way, it's hers. So, this is why she is bossy. She is one of those natural-born leaders. She was, born to lead. She loves taking charge and giving orders, which could be another reason why you could hate the girl. Some girls find this intimidating, or even the guys, not liking someone so in charge. But, sometimes she is not aware when she sounds like this, though most of the time she does and smiles while doing it.
Rude & Insultive; She actually wouldn't care if you called her a 'stuck-up rich bitch.' Really, she wouldn't. Even though most the things you'll say about her is true, she'll just counter it all back at you. She'll gladly point out what you called her and why she is, or why she isn't what you called her. She'll insult you and be incredibly rude while doing it only to smile at you sweetly at the end and pat herself on the back for doing great work.

History:
Her father, Mario Rivera, was a above-average income business man to a company that not even Chanel really knows about. Her mother, Ree-Ann Hayes, was, believe it or not, his secretary, being in Brazil for the summer. Cliché as it sounds, they soon fell in love and got married. Both over seas at Mario’s company in Brazil they started a family in Brazil and Frank and James, were the first two born, the older brothers. Three years after James was born, Chanel was born. A year later, Bianca was born. The youngest girl only a year old, Mario’s company was getting relocated to the states and they flew to Iowa, were most of the kids remembered all of their childhood. Little Demetri was born three years after the family settled down in the small Iowa city which was in a small town outside Des Moines, a heavy populated city where the company now stood. Living in a small Iowa town had its pitfalls... everyone knew everyone’s business. Knowing everything, about everyone. Secrets were hardly kept. Gossip was the town’s middle name and that alone could be deadly.
Chanel had been the first born girl in the Rivera Family. Getting most of her mother's Greek traits, she never looks Brazillian. They named her Chanel because Ree-Ann always wore that perfume and that's what Mario always remembered her by. Sweet, huh? Well, only when she was older did she notice that her full name (Chanel Avalon Rivera) spelled out the initials of CAR, which was sometimes the butt of jokes, and had the nickname of 'speedy' when she was younger, which she thankfully kicked when she hit her teens. Growing up in Iowa. Wow, how boring as hell. Chanel had always dreamed of gorwing up somewhere else. So she would write stories about herself being someone else in the popular cities of the United States. She even started to dream of becoming a MTV VJ, or a E! news anchorperson.
She got along with all of her siblings fine, it was easy to talk to them. There were five kids, so they were quite close, Chanel and Bianca being the only two girls, their bond was tightest. Sometimes, Chanel felt like the younger sister. But, things started to change for the worse. After Bianca's boyfriend, Brian, was killed in a car accident, Bianca changed. And right when Chanel knew it was getting worse, she was accepted to the all-girl's boarding school she had applied for that previous summer. She begged her brothers to watch over her as she left for New York. Her parents cared. They did now. Bianca went to rehab and then they moved to California.
California. Ew.
When Christmas came around, the school's break was let out quite lenghty for the students to return home to family, and Chanel had booked the first flight to Valkyrie. Mistake. Though she was dying to see her family, she was trapped in this hellhole city that she found out she hated soon after coming. But she couldn't leave. That would be stupid. So she stayed those long weeks of December. Hanging with her recovering sister and her two favorite cousins, Daphne and Diem. She was introduced to a lot of Valkyrie kids these visits she would take to California during holidays. So, she isn't a complete loser for not knowing anyone except family.
But after Christmas was over, it was back to her 'homeland' where she would celebrate New Year's with her friends, before school would start back up again. Life was good like that. Chatting with her siblings whenever possible as their parents started growing farther apart from their five kids. This was, all up until her brother Frankie, who has also been living in New York told her Bianca had died in a car crash. So, this is why Chanel is back in California. She is actually is leaving before school gets out for the break and is helping her parents arrange the funeral and spending, what she can, of Christmas with what is left of her family.
Living Situation: Valks.
The Riveras' live in a mansion with huge windows covering what seems like every square inch of the house. Chanel will be living with her Mother and Father, her younger brother, Demetri, who is 12, and her older brother James who is 21. James is on is second year of college at the local college, he wants to become a art teacher he lives in the house with Demetri. Knowing that his parents are always gone, he lives in the house with their younger brother. Frankie has moved to New York City, with fiancé Jackie.
Mr. & Mrs. Rivera are hardly ever home anymore. Her father is always on business trips around the world leaving for a week, Ree-Ann leaving as well to keep a watchful eye on her husband. But the children aren’t home alone. They have a housekeeper, Inda, that comes every Saturday and Sunday to check on them and to see if they are all right, cooking them dinners and playing games with them. But, Chanel has been living in the dorms with her friend at the New York Boarding School she has been attending.

Roleplaying Sample: Oh, my god. First tiem since Reed. I am actually going to give you a roleplaying sample! Haha, no, this is just an intro of her.
"Hello?" Chanel said into her phone as she held some of her books close to her as she walked across the courtyard of her school, her boots, clicking on the stone with her cellphone pressed to her head. "Chanel. It's B, it's...It's I'm so lonely. And it's Brian. He's dead..." Chanel looked down at the path below her as she heard her younger sister crying on the other end, three-thousand miles away from her, even though Chanel felt like she was standing right next to her. "Honey...I love you. You really need to just take a few breaths. If James there?" she asked. Maybe James was there to calm Bianca down. She could have sweared that she heard glass on glass so she was silent and heard Bianca drink something and start coughing. "Bianca, are you drinking?"
"Of course not," came the answer on the other line. Chanel narrowed her eyes as she neared her dorm room building. "Give the phone to Mom," she said, wondering if anyone was with Bianca. "Chanel, are you high? They are fucking gone. Always fucking gone." Bianca nearly screamed that in her ear, and Chanel knew something was wrong. "They are? I thought they were going to stay in town for awhile," she asked stupidly, she knew the answer. "No, they are never around anymore. Maybe they got sick of California like you did and are really living somewhere else. Coming here is a fucking vacation." Her sister was right, down to the bare bones. They parents were almsot a no-show now-a-day, not that Chanel had to deal with it, since she didn't live there. "You're right. Who would like California anyway? Summer all year-round? It snowed today here. I enjoy my season changes," she said with a smile on her face.
"Maybe you should go out tonight with some friends. I’m sure Daphne would want to hang with you." The one thing Bianca needed right now were people, and who better than their cousin? Bianca was silent for a moment before she said, "Yeah maybe. I’ll call her. Thanks Chanel, I love you." Chanel smiled again as she opened the door with somewhat difficulty. "Love you too. I’ll call you tomorrow, bye." she disconnected and smield the rest of the way down the hallway knowing that her cousin wouldn't be alone at a time like this.
She opened the door to the door she shared with her best friend, Heidi, and flung her books on her bed and hung her coat and hat up on the coat rack the two bought at a pawn shop the previous weekend. Heidi was sitting on her bed with the lamp on, reading a book. "Coming in late?" Chanel laughed, "If studing counts as 'being out late'." See, she liked this New York style. Where, sure, they all liked to study, but they all like intelligent conversations about the top story on The New York Times over coffee and bagels at Starbucks. Chanel swore, talking to California girls was like talking to a Barbie. Barbie never had anything itneresting to say. "I, am beat," Chanel said as she started changing into boxer-shorts and a tank. "What are we doing tomorrow?" Heidi asked as she closed her book. "Besides school? Want to go to the mall? Or maybe we can get into TRL again." Heidi clapped her hands, "Yeah, I swear seeing Justin Timberlake preforming was literally the highlight of the year." Chanel started laughing when Heidi said that as she pulled the covers over her. TRL sounded alright.
--------
"Chanel, open up."
Chanel opened her eyes as she looked to her left to see what time it was. The clock read 12:00 am. Though the lamp next to her wa already on, she flicked on Heidi's. She moaned and groggily said, "What's going on?" Chanel shrugged as she staggered to the door, and flung it open. Standing there was her brother, Frankie, one of the campus security, and the headmaster of the school. She was awake now, "Frankie? What are you doing here?"
Frankie looked torn up, and she wondered if in the back of her mind, it had something to do with Jackie, Frankie's fiance. "Is everything alright?" Frankie shook his head and took her hand. "No, Chanel, it's Bianca....Chanel...Bianca's been in an accident." Chanel looked bewildered at her brother, "What? Frankie squeezed her hand, "Nel, she didn't make it." Chanel's jaw dropped, tears filling her eyes.She shook her head, "No, that's that's in possible. I, I just talked to her around nine..." Frankie just shook his head. "No, she didn't make it. She's...she's gone."
Chanel fell into her brother's chest and started to cry. Her sister. Her baby sister. She couldn't possibly be dead. No, it wasn't possible. She looked back at her brother, "I'm going to California."
