The Sirens;; what goes on behind closed doors The Sirens: Elizabeth, Wendy, and Orion Hughes, Donald and Isabel Davis. This is a thread, not just for childhood memories or what happened a few years ago, no, this is a thread for memories that are just being created in Valkyrie. This is a board for the conversations, the fights, the moments that happen when the characters aren't in someone else's company. Orion's arrival, Widow and Liz fights, Donny and Widow heart to hearts, etc. All would be here. There will also be memories from the distant past and they will be clearly labeled and not in order. I will probably have an intro of the prominent character flashbacking. For the record, Liz and Orion are siblings, their oldest brother(side character) Darren is the father of Widow. And completely non-related to them are the Davis, an allied family, second in command to the Hughes.

MAY OF 2007--- ENTER ORION M. HUGHES ---
She hated it, she hated it all. She hadn't... she felt like she couldn't breath. Liz knew when she was a kid that one day, she would be expected to pull a trigger and take a life. She had avoided it as long as she could, even pretended to be a bad shot which believe me, for her, was hard. Not like she was a perfect shot but she was always a tad competitive with people so for her, having the control to pretend to suck at something that her siblings and family and friends would get on her ass about was an issue, but the idea of actually killing someone had always scared her a bit. She would never admit it. She was fine with a bit of torture for information, she was fine scaring the shit out of some ass-whipe but death was so final. But even avoiding it, part of her knew the day would come where she would have no choice but to pull the trigger and take a life. She just never fathomed the gun in her hand being pointed at the side of her oldest brother, and the future leader of the Sirens. When someone kills their own mother, it is called matricide. Well now, Liz Hughes would like to know what it was called when you kill your own brother. What classification of sicko did that make you? Did that make her? And she hated it, she hated it all.
He hated it, he hated it all. He had always been that perfect little soldier for them, proving to them his strength, his power, his ability to get the job done. But to them Orion was a drone. He was a tall man, towering at 6 feet 4 inches, he had muscles and a broad frame and he was a brute. That was his job. Follow orders so there he was, following them all the way across the country. Driving from New York City down and across all the way to Valkyrie, California in a stolen car. He had a job to do and he would find a way to do it. He had killed before. He had killed a few times before and while part of him hated himself and tore itself apart from guilt with every breath of air his living shell of a body inhaled, the hardwired brain of the Siren Soldier ordered him to ignore it. Nothing exists but you, it told him, none of it matters, how could you? How could you be such a bastardized excuse for a human? the kind that hides like a coward in a alley before sneaking out and killing. Only killing. Stealing, scavenging. He was a rat. And he knew it. Rion, pronounced Ryan, as many called him, had new orders. These orders echoed in his mind and while he was never really a family man the idea of murdering his younger sister was eating at his brain more so than any other command had previously. And he hated it, he hated it all.
His name had been Kenneth Samspon Hughes. She called him Kenny. Tall, lanky and a skilled knife fighter with a crap shot with guns. He had killed three, each of who were murderers of the innocent. He had protected Liz, he had known her secrets. She had watched him die. She had attempted endlessly trying to shake him awake as her only true companions blood poured into her hands, escaping from his flooding lungs. The bullet had come from the gun of a rapist named Darren Hughes Jr. She called him Junior. He was her oldest brother, the molester of Izzy Davis, the father of Widow, the future leader of the Sirens, and her own rapist from when she was fourteen. To say she had hated the man was an understatement. The hell he had caused and the things their father allowed him to do in the name of Siren tradition. Junior had turned her into the thing she hated the most, a victim. But no longer, she had pulled the trigger while Junior was attacking and about to kill a good man, an innocent named Riley Delrick Turner. She called him Riles. And he was just trying to protect her, over and over, no matter how often she spit in his face, figuratively. He simply didn't seem to understand he couldn't. She had not been planning on killing Junior that night she stole Zack Holtz car. She brought a gun for her own protection. She had kept it in the glove compartment and he got in the car, Riles. He got in and refused to get out. She had to talk to Junior, she had to know why Kenny was murdered by the eldest of his own brothers. She told Riley to stay in the car. Junior attacked, his gun dropped. He was killing him. She grabbed it and shot, she hadn't meant to.... she hadn't wanted... She was as bad as him. She had murdered her own brother.
His name had been Darren Hughes Senior. He called him Dad. Smart, cold, stern, stuck in his ways and he was the man all the Hughes siblings called father. Orion's siblings, some of the older boys at least, set Rion up as a kid. Rion was small so they thought they could. So from Dad he received lash after lash from belt across his back, forming the large scars in lines that could be seen even in dim lighting. Dad was a man of rules and power. He was to be obeyed and he was going to teach young Rion if it took a lifetime. He turned Rion into the soldier and the killer he was today. Dad was the father of thirteen children, the oldest of which was a psycho named Darren Hughes Junior. He called him Junior. The Sirens pretended like they did not know they type of man Junior was because the truth was, he was evil, even by their standards but traditions. Rion never argued. He kept him mouth shut but they all knew what Junior did to his sister. Junior was in Las Angeles when his body was found in the back alley by some freeway, shot through the side. The bullet had come from the gun of a broken girl named Elizabeth Sirena Hughes. He called her Liz. She was his younger sister. Orion didn't know all that much about her other than she was very close to Kenneth who was killed earlier that year. He knew what Junior had done to her though. Everyone did. Orion couldn't blame her for killing him, she hadn't killed like Rion had in the past, trying to prove himself. She was the one he was supposed to be after. She was not as bad as him. He couldn't murder his own sister.
Liz walked down the alley way as she was making her way back to the apartment, she had went out to clear her head. The night sky helped her. Rion was walking down the street. He turned into the alley way expecting to go into the apartment from behind as he saw a familiar practically eighteen year old girl walking down the center of the crease in the alley. It was one in the morning and this was the first time he had seen her in a good few years. She had grown. She looked... damaged. Liz kept her gaze alone the cement ground as she stepped forward before hearing oncoming footsteps. She tilted her head up to a sight that made her pace slow to a stop as she stared at the darkened eyes of her brother. Another one. One she hadn't seen in years, and one that could only have one purpose. She hadn't really expected to be forgotten. She knew this was going to come. She simply didn't realize they would send a Hughes. My god, eventually all the siblings would kill each other off wouldn't they? She held her chin high as she watched him step forward and she could see him better underneath the street light. After a moment of silence, Liz pulled a switch blade from her pocket and tossed it to the side and put her hands up. "I honestly couldn't care" She said to him, almost in a whisper.
Orion watched the sister he never knew as he stepped into the light a bit further. He watched as she tossed aside, presumably, her only weapon. He looked down at the dampened ground as she spoke. She wanted to die and he knew the feeling. It was the feeling of guilt, worsened by the idea of what family should mean and what family within the Sirens became. He stood perfectly still, "You know why I'm here then?" Liz nodded, his voice had become deeper. Orion nodded back, he knew his next words would confuse her. He was a Siren too. The idea of someone being kind, showing mercy, or showing compassion was foreign and when it happened, the act was not trusted. "I can't complete the order." As he suspected, the girl furrowed her brow inquisitively. "I can't do it." Liz didn't understand, what did he mean 'he can't'? What did he want in return? "You've never had an issue with an order before." "I have, just never said anything. I followed it to save my own ass. You didn't" Liz shook her head, guilt rising in her throat, "I've killed a brother... family. Not even you have the stomach for that." "Believe me, if the order was against Junior or Marcus, I would complete it in full without blinking." He snapped back at her. He wasn't here to listen to her guilt, he had enough on his own shoulders.
Liz was a bit taken aback by it all. She didn't know to trust his words. She did not know Rion well. She had what she heard about him, brainless, brute, big. He was big, he was not brainless and the jury was still out on the brute part. She watched him closely as he sized her up as if determining if it was worth it before he opened his mouth again. "We fake your death, stay low and out of sight here." This had to be the first time in a long time Liz was happy to let some one else take the reins in her life. Look where her fierce independence had led her. "They all want you dead Liz, all of them. You understand what happens to me if I help you, so you need to tell me the truth. Did you act alone? Was anyone else there?" Liz looked at Rion as he asked what he needed to. If he helped her, his head was on the chopping block too. And Riley. He wanted to know about Riley. "No." She stated clearly. "I found out Junior killed Ken and I left immediately to see him, no one else saw anything." So maybe Riley had failed to protect her, and it would be a lie to say she didn't partially blame him for getting out of the damn car, but where he had failed in protecting her, maybe she would succeed in protecting him from Siren Whiplash. Rion nodded. "OKay...." Now what? What was he supposed to do? Hug her? She's attempt to kill him too. But when he looked up he saw that Liz had already entered the Hitten apartments back yard area and opened the door, holding it out for him. He knew she was right. No more words. They had barely spoken and it felt like a lifetime. He walked into the shak apartment building and followed her up.
There was a time for words and a time for action but now, now was a time for restless sleep. "Where should I crash?" He asked as they walked up the stairs after long moments of silence. Liz stepped up the stairs, her hands in her pockets as her eye lids felt heavier than ever before. She yawned, "You'll like it, it's called the floor."

NOVEMBER OF 2007--- TIME TO OWN UP ---
It had only been a few hours since she had made a decision that would change her life forever. She didn't know what to do, or she hadn't before. She was lost and spiraling and she couldn't shake this feeling of guilt, this heavy pit in her stomach that just made her feel sick twenty-four/seven. Something had to be done. She had to pay for what she had done to her brother one way or another. She had killed a man. She had killed her own family, her oldest brother. And while she didn't pull the trigger, her other brother had died because of her. Ken was dead because of her and Darren Juniors obsession with her. Riley was almost killed, scared shitless he drank and got Coco pregnant... Orion's life, Donny, Izzy, even Widow's were all in danger now because of her. She caused so much pain and no one seemed to blame her except for her father and the other Sirens back in Chicago or Detroit but they would kill her if they knew she was still alive, so... perhaps that was one reason that option wasn't as ideal but at the same time, she was beginning to care less and less as long as she was able to atone for what she had done. But death would mean Orion and them put their lives on the line for nothing. So this morning, she had done something. Something a little crazy. Elizabeth Hughes had decided to confess.
I know you probably think she is being stupid or weak or pathetic or any other multitude of other things but she had to. Liz had to change something and this was the only thing she could come up with. She knew that there was an FBI agent in town, and had looked him up online. She had to admit, his last name being Giovanni threw her a bit. But maybe, if he was somehow related to THE Giovanni's, it would make him a bit easier to talk to. Or it'll just make everything worse. It was a risk, she knew it. And she knew Kenny would probably be against what she was about to do, but he was gone and this was her life. Liz reminded herself to breath as she stood across the street from the Craftsmen style home, watching it with a waring eye as she second guessed herself repeatedly in her own mind. It's not like she was going to confess to everything. She would not tell him about Widow, Or Orion, or Donny or... or even Riley. She had talked to him a few days ago, it had been... tense? to say the least. But Riley hadn't done anything wrong. And yes, she shot Darren while he was killing Riley but in the court of law, killing in self defense is considering the same as killing in the defense of others, so she'll say she was there alone and not mention Riley. After all, this was her decision. If he wanted to come forward, that was up to him but seeing as he had a baby on the way with a minor, she doubted that would happen.
God! She couldn't just stand here all day. Liz shut her eyes and took a deep breath before stepping across the street, holding the crumpled scrap of paper with his name and address on it in her hand. She took the few steps up to his sidewalk and made her way up to the front door. She leaned to the left to look through the fragmented glass on the doorway before taking yet one more deep breath. Reaching out her hand she pressed the doorbell and had to fight every urge in her body not to take off running down the street. This was it. Tony Giovanni was just a person. He was not a super hero, he was not a genius of any kind. He wasn't part martian and he was not a god. Putting trust in him was the same risk you took with anyone else and it was hard. Tony was a young hotshot FBI agent and he had the same issues with trust many of the people he helps put away do. If there was one thing he, and the scared young girl outside his door, had in common, it was mistrust. Tony saw things everyday on the job that just go towards making him less and less trustful of the planet and human beings as a whole. And Liz's family put her through similar things everyday to cause a similar effect. Both had seen things others couldn't dream off and they had hardened up because of it. But when Tony stood up from the chair his had pulled towards the kitchen counter and headed towards the front door, he had no idea that the ring of the bell was not going to be just girl scouts selling cookies, but the daughter of one of the most dangerous men in the country.
Tony opened the door onto a pretty but nervous looking girl on the porch. From her attired he could tell she probably was not the sweet and innocent type, large oversized leather jacket, form fit pale purple that showed slight mid drift, baggy dark blue jeans, fairly dark eye make up, etc. Liz raised an eyebrow at the sight of the young fbi agent, not quite what she expected. For one, he was very good looking, and young. Plus he wasn't wearing a monkey suit or anything, no stern look, just a guy in jeans and a t-shirt with a baseball cap. Not exactly the first image in your head when you think FBI. But she should probably speak instead of standing and starring blankly. "Are you Special Agent Tony Giovanni?" She asked plainly, hands in pockets. Tony looked at the girl standing in his doorway, He nodded, "Yeah, may I know who's asking?" Liz shifted on her feet slightly, how was she supposed to say this? Just walk up to him and say plainly, my name is Liz Hughes, I killed my oldest brother, may I come in? I mean how ridiculous would that be? How would that look? How would any of this look? Tony watched her as she seemed to be nervously questioning herself. He opened the door a bit more and gestured inside, "Would you like to talk about it inside?" He asked stepping aside as Liz nodded and tentatively came into the primarily wooden home. And that's what it was. It was warm and friendly inside, not cold and distant like many modern houses. She turned around as she heard Tony shut the door behind him before gesturing her into the living room.
"Here, Have a seat." He said in a kind voice. Tony knew to control his confusion. The more disorganized or unprepared he sounded, the more worried she would get. Liz sat down on the edge of one of the couches keeping her hands in her laps and he eyes down until he sat down across from her. "Now, whatever you're here for, I want to help, but I do need you to talk to me. After all, that's why you came right?" Tony added, hoping to pull her out of hiding a bit. Liz looked up at him, she nodded. "I've never liked cops or the feds, law enforcement in general. Always thought they were same corrupt jerks throughout." She began. Tony simply listened. "That's what I was taught. Never trust 'em." She paused taking a deep breath as she prepared herself. "My name is Elizabeth Sirena Hughes." She stated with a forced calm as she claimed her full birth name out loud for the first time since Darren's death. "I am one of twelve kids that share one father. A man who goes by DS. Also known by the name Darren Jonathan Hughes Sr." Tony sat up slightly straighter, his ears perking up at that name. Of course he knew who they were. He had never worked on a case relating to them but many of his colleagues had. "Wait," Tony stopped her as she was about to continue, "You're telling me you are one of the Sirens and not only that but the leader's precious daughter. If that's true than, what would you be doing here?"
Liz rolled her eyes leaning forward slightly, "Look I'm not lying and to dad I am anything but precious seeing as he wants me dead."
Tony shook his head, "Is that why you're here? Protection? because you would have to give us so-"
"Some proof, I know" Liz interrupted, "I'm not an idiot, nor am I pathetic, I can protect myself. I am here because..." Oh damn it and she was doing so well. "Because..." Why the hell was she choking? it didn't make any sense. Just spit it out all in one sentence. "I'm here because I killed my oldest brother, Darren Jr. He was... He had killed our other brother Kenneth when I found out, I confronted him, he attacked, I grabbed his gun and shot as he came towards me." True to her words to Orion, Widow, Donny, Iz and to Riley himself, Riley was not there. He never got into the car. He didn't see a thing. "I Murdered Darren Jonathan Hughes Jr. in Los Angeles, May 17th 2007"
And all of a sudden Tony realized this girl couldn't be lying. Or at least, he could feel that she wasn't. Her rigidly placed body, tense in all muscles. Breathing shallow, solid eye contact made for a point. extremely forced control of the voice. If it were a joke there would be an easier air in the confession. But no, she had basically kicked herself in the gut to get it out. And when her words stopped and her breathing quickened the only look in her eyes was pure fear and guilt. This was real. He nodded, and stood up, "Stand up." He instructed her. Liz obeyed. He walked over to the table against the wall and opened the bottom drawer pulling out cuffs. He was off duty so no, he hadn't kept them on his person. Liz looked at them before looking down at the ground and turning around, knowing the routine. Tony sighed slightly as he placed them on her wrists. "Just a confessions not enough to get you arrested, but it is enough for restraint and questioning, but done properly in LA Headquarters." He held her wrist and guided her towards the back to the garage. He put her in the back seat of his car before coming around and getting into the front seat. He pulled out his cell and pressed the number two speed dial, "Hey Anya, I'll be in LA for the night, somethings come up. see ya tomorrow kid."
Liz raised an eyebrow at his message, "Girlfriend?" She asked plainly.
Tony shook his head and smirked, why did everyone think that? Gross, "Family." He replied plainly.
Liz nodded, "I guess that word has a different meaning for you and me."
"Maybe..." Tony paused slightly to pull out of the driveway, "You would be surprised."
"So you are one of THE Giovanni's?" Liz asked, "A mole? rat? what?"
"Runaway. I'm loyal to the Feds, both sides know it." and no, he didn't really mind talking about it. They couldn't talk about her confession yet. Not until he had brought her in for proper questioning.
"So you betrayed your family..." Liz took a long pause before slouching down and looking out the window as the sun began to set, trying he best not to put strain on her wrists. "... guess we have that in common..."
Tony looked back at her in the review mirror. Completely calm. She was not fighting it. He couldn't help but be curious about everything. If she was who she claimed to be, she has probably been through a lot and seen even more. It was strange to know so little about someone and the little you did know was that she was probably a killer, and yet the young FBI agent saw himself in her. He saw the feelings he felt at 16 when he ran away reflected her guilted exhaustion. He shook his head pulling onto the highway, "I hope you know what you're doing Elizabeth Hughes."
Liz kept her eyes on the scenery moving past them before replying softly, "Me too."
