Carlito has always had rather crazy hair that refuses to be tamed. Having an afro is something that Carlito has become accustomed to over the years though. A bit of hairspray and some random product from under the bathroom sink and Carlito is ready to go. He doesn't bother with it much since a lot of his friends, particularly the girls, enjoy pulling the strands and watching them spring back. His wild afro coils into dark brown locks and always has. Carlito isn't the type of guy to go and get tips or anything. He likes his hair the way it is. Well most of the time.

face
Carlito has dark brown eyes that almost look black and when he's smiling, you can always see a friendly twinkle in his eyes. He has dark skin, from where, no one is quite sure but it's most likely the combination of his father's Spanish and Filipino heritage and his mother's heritage which is unknown. Carlito does have very strong features and a good strong jaw. He is eighteen so facial hair has obviously arrived and he is extremely proud of his growing beard and mustache. The rest of his face is basically like every other face. He has two eyes, two ears, a mouth and a nose, just like everyone else. But of course he still manages to look unique.

body
Carlito has a very athletic body, having played sport for his whole life. He has developed nice strong muscles which are certainly appealing to the ladies. He isn't very tall, coming up at only about 5'7 or so. He doesn't really measure himself so he's not quite sure of his exact height. He is taller than most of the students he knows but he's not considered a giant or anything.

style
Generally Carlito has a very casual attire when he goes out. He doesn't like to get too dressed up when he goes out and is most comfortable in a pair of jeans and a daggy shirt but if he is going out of the house he does make an effort to at least wear a decent shirt. Being in a family of fairly decent wealth means Carlito does have a lot of nice clothes so his idea of a 'daggy' shirt tends to be considered quite a nice shirt to other people. But he doesn't really noticed this, unless his friends tell him off for complaining which he rarely does.

laid-back and calm
Carlito is definitely a laid back guy and doesn't really get riled up easily. He likes to cruise through life without too many problems apart from perfecting his basketball. Carlito has always been the guy that you know you can talk to and he won't judge you. Carlito doesn't really like conflict and prefers to stay on good terms with everyone. A lot of people try to get him involved in their pety arguments but he doesn't like getting involved so he tends to use the same advice that he uses on his sisters: 'Just talk to her.' It's simple and doesn't always work but its just the type of advice Carlito figures should work. He's a very calm guy and if he's not working on his basketball hoops, he's usually just sitting and chilling with his friends.

Carlito is very athletic and is obsessed with basketball. He's been playing since as long as he can remember and its all thanks to his dad, who is also a fan of the game and introduced Carlito to it. Carlito has always has a lot of energy, despite being a calm person. He likes to be on the go and loves getting involved in all the school sports. Now that he's eighteen, he's played his fair share of sports and seems to be naturally gifted at a lot of them. He is a very active guy and likes to be on the ball 24/7. You can often find Carlito on the basketball court practicing.

passionate and confident
Carlito is very passionate about what he does. He knows how to get in the zone when he wants to do something and when he wants to do something, he does it. He's not afraid to go after things he wants but when things or people stand in his way, he has a habit of slowing down and halting his plans. Carlito doesn't mean to but he can think a little too much about things too much. Never the less, he is a passionate person and also quite confident. When he is certain about something, he has no hesitations.

nice and honest
Nice pretty much sums up Carlito's entire personality. Unlike quite a few of the jocks and basically all the guys at his school, Carlito is a genuinely nice guy. He doesn't like to hurt girls feelings and rarely tells lies. Even when he's drunk as hell he's still a good guy. The worst he's ever done when he was drunk was kiss another girl. But once his girlfriend realised he was drunk, she forgave him because he was extremely sorry and said so several times. Of course being nice has its bad sides. Carlito is the sort of person who never really learned how to say no. He will willingly do almost anything people ask of him and sometimes hates himself for it.
He is also an honest guy and really doesn't like lying. Little white lies are fine but its always possible that these little white lies will grow into big black lies that make everyone miserable. So he tells the truth almost all the time and almost looks down on those who lie and deceive people. Considering what happened with his friend and girlfriend, this isn't surprising.

competitive and hot-tempered
Carlito does have a strong competitive streak in his bones and likes to play to win. When he's playing basketball, he's playing to win and he plays hard. He doesn't really like losing and is always practicing his sports, whether it's basketball, running or soccer etc. He wants to be perfect so he can do his best at every game he does. Losing is not an option for Carlito.
He also has a very hot temper when he wants to. Carlito isn't proud of this and tries to keep this part of him hidden but there are moments when he can't keep his cool and 'loses it' so to speak. It doesn't happen very often but one can only remain calm for so long before something happens to make that crack. When he gets fired up about something, he will usually try to bottle it up and remain cool but there is always a moment when he can't take it anymore and he ends up bursting and when that happens, it's never a pretty sight.

History: 5+
Maria and Roberto Bagalayos hadn't been married for very long when Maria fell pregnant. Nine months later, on the ninth of March, Carlito Junito Bagalayos entered the world. He was the first child for the newly wedded couple but unfortunately the only child. Maria had been having a lot of problems health wise both before the pregnancy and during the pregnancy and died only a few hours after giving birth to Carlito. Naturally Roberto was devastated but before Maria died, she made Roberto promise not to grieve for too long and to find love again because she didn't want Carlito to live his life without a mother. Roberto promised but grieved all the same. It was impossible not to!

Only a few months after Carlito's birth and Maria's death, Roberto met Christina who had only arrived in the Philippines a few weeks ago from Spain so Roberto was able to help her out a little. He showed her around the town a little and became close friends with her. Although the two couldn't see it at first, there was a spark between the two. In the end, Roberto's sister got sick of watching them like a high school soapie and organised a date for the two. Well the first date led to a second, and a third and after only a few months, Roberto proposed. Of course Christina agreed and the wedding was only a few weeks after. Things were happening very quickly and thankfully Carlito has no problem with this new lady in his life. Of course he was only a baby and didn't have much of an opinion but he seemed to take to Christina quite easily. But after nine months, Carlito was no longer an only child as Roberto and Christina gave birth to a baby girl, Leti.

After Leti there were a few more kids to come. Carlito never had a problem with his siblings. He loved being the oldest because it made him feel important and was always the responsible one. Of course everyone looked responsible compared to Leti who was a wild thing when she was little. But her big innocent eyes meant that Carlito often got the blame for anything naughty that Leti did. This really did make Carlito a little distressed sometimes since he was a good kid and wouldn't dare doing anything Leti accused him of. He was a good kid and for the first few years of his life he was able to just cruise along without too many dramas.

Leti and Carlito have a funny relationship. They are only half-siblings but they are as close as any normal siblings. They do fight an awful lot and argue about the pettiest things. But they have bonded very closely over something quite serious. It was just a normal day for Carlito. The middle of the term, half way through in his junior year. When he started noticing some odd things about Leti. It started on this normal day, just after tea, when he heard Leti in the bathroom, throwing up. When he asked if she was okay, Leti brushed it off a little too quickly, saying she just had something funny for lunch. But after that, a lot of things started to stand out to Carlito. For instance, she was always in the bathroom after tea and he heard her throwing up several times when he walked passed. But whenever he questioned it Leti always assured him she was fine. But he knew she was lying. She lost a lot of weight very quickly and Carlito clicked. His little baby sister had bulimia. Of course he confronted her but she refused to listen, making him promise not to tell Roberto and Christina anything he had seen. Being Carlito, he couldn't say no and to this day still holds his sister's secret, constantly worried for her health but sworn to keep it a secret.

Growing up, Carlito was always very athletic. He was a fast learner, especially when it came to basketball, his passion. He was always running around the court and getting involved in the game. Although he is a calm person, that doesn't mean he isn't one to sit around. Carlito has never been the type of person to just sit around and keep quiet, no he always wanted to get involved. Perhaps it was all the sugar in his food but Carlito has been described as very 'on the go' and is rarely sitting still. He acclaimed plenty of friends as he went through his school years. Being a genuinely nice guy meant that he was the sort of guy people couldn't help like. He is also slightly responsible for helping his little sister gain her fast popularity. Carlito has always been the type of guy that just got along with everyone.

Going through high school was a smooth process for Carlito. He made lots of friends in all his classes and was lucky enough to never have to worry about spending lunch time alone. By the end of his junior year he was doing pretty well. He had a tight group of mates, he was vice captain of the basketball team, and had a great girlfriend. So what happened? Well most of this stayed the same except for the great girlfriend and the friends. One of his best mates Nick had had his eyes on Carlito's girlfriend Alisha for quite a while and managed to seduce her somehow. Much to the horror of Carlito, he walked into Alisha's house one day on the weekend, as he had done many times before, he walked into her bedroom to see every person's nightmare. His beloved girlfriend making out with one of his best mates on her bed.

This was one of the worst days of Carlito's life. He thought everything was going so well until that night. Feeling a rush of anger, Carlito threw a punch at Nick, furious at him for stealing his girlfriend. When Nick returned the punch, a fight ensued and it was lucky that Alisha's parents weren't home or they would have heard the two boys fighting furiously and Alisha standing over them screaming. Carlito was in such a rage that he just kept throwing punches blindly until one of Alisha's screams woke him up from his hot temper and he realised what he had done. Both he and Nick were covered in bruises but there didn't seem to be any broken bones. With a few last words, Carlito left the house, determined to wipe Nick and Alisha from his life entirely, and promised himself not to get into such an awful fight again. He knew that if he had kept fighting, he could have ended up killing Nick and that was just too awful to imagine.

Carlito has been lucky enough to have a very close family though. Despite the fact that his family is spread out all over the place, Carlito managed to form a close friendship with one of his cousins Nina who was the same age as his sister Leti but a lot tamer. The kids were only young but Nina and Carlito were almost inseparable and both were upset when Nina moved to America permanently. They still do call each other occasionally and there is the odd email every now and then but apart from that they barely talk anymore. When Carlito found out that his parents wanted to take him and Leti to America to visit his favourite little cousin, he was more than excited and couldn't wait to see her. He has no idea what she's like anymore and even what she looks like so its going to be one awesome reunion for the two when Carlito arrives. As for Leti and Nina's reunion? Yeah, we'll see about that.

Roleplaying Sample:

It was hard living in a different country than her family. Sure, she had her father's side of the family who were all around America but she had grown up with her mother's side of the family and had gotten close to her cousins over in the Philippines, especially Carlito. He was a year older than her but as kids they had become almost like best friends which was why Nina had been so devastated when she had to leave him behind. She had lost contact with him almost completely, apart from the odd email and phone call but it was rare. But considering she was supposed to be going back to the Philippines soon anyway, she was sure the friendship would pick up again. It was like Nina and Nikki really. They could leave each other for several years but when they were together again, they picked up the friendship easily.

Nina bit back a laugh as Nikki raised an eyebrow at her answer but when Nikki's voice dropped with a slightly creepy tone to it, the laughter escaped and she covered her mouth with one hand as she controlled herself. Calming down, she spoke in the same mysterious voice that Nikki had just used. "And if I'm not kidding?" she asked with a raised eyebrow, but there was a twinkle in her eyes as she took a sip of her coffee, keeping her eyes on Nikki as a smile spread on her lips. "Well I have a few favourites but I suppose I'll let you be on top of the list for now." she said playfully. Of course Nikki was always going to be one of her top closest friends, unless they had a big fight or something which was highly unlikely.

"But you know I'm the biggest sweetheart of them all."

Nina twisted her lips to the side in mock-thought, as though it was a hard decision. "I dunno, you're all pretty big sweethearts." she said with a smirk. Indeed, Nina knew almost all the Malindas in Valkyrie and they were all nice. Natalie, Sam and Brianna were just a few of the Malindas that Nina knew were definitely classified as sweet although she was sure they had their moments when they weren't so sweet. It was still fun to joke around with Nikki. She loved mucking around with Nikki and being silly. Of course all the caffeine she was taking in with her coffee probably wasn't exactly helping. Nina tended to get hyper and excited very easily if she had coffee and being around one of her best friends didn't really help that either.

Unable to hold it back, Nina let out a small giggle as Nikki perked up at the mention of the power failure. "It didn't matter whether I was there or not. You still ran out of the room; Completely left me in the dark." she said, poking her tongue out at Nikki. "At least you didn't make it to the front door. Didn't you walk into a wall or something? Or was that me coming after you?" Nina furrowed her brow slightly as she tried to recall the terrifying but hilarious night. Horror movies really weren't Nina's thing, especially after that night but it was always fun when she had her friends with her, especially Nikki. It seemed like whenever Nina and Nikki caught up, they were always having fun, no matter what the situation.

But moving on. Nina had a feeling that Nikki would know Logan. After all, Nikki was quite a friendly girl and had a lot of friends so she was bound to talk to Logan at some point since they were in the same year. "Of course I know Logan. But it doesn't matter if I know him..." Nina raised an eyebrow as she waited for Nikki's next words and sure enough Nina could clearly hear the teasing tone in her voice. "Shuuut up..." she threw Nikki a mock-glare with an embarrassed face. Obviously she wasn't really annoyed at Nikki but she was still a little embarrassed. "I don't know..." she trailed off shyly, glancing down at her coffee. "I only met him like last week. He seems nice but..." Nina bit her lip hesitantly before continuing, "Well you know my luck with guys." Nikki would have known Nina well enough to know that Nina had a bad habit of going out with guys who just ended up hurting her. "But like I said, we've only just met so who knows what will happen." Nina had no idea if Logan was even remotely interested in her yet anyway so she was just going to have to wait and see.
