full name: Alexandra Leslie Suresh
gender: female
age: fifteen
school year: sophomore
art interest: theatre (loves music and singing etc)
portrayed by: demi lovato
appearance: ( decent couple paragraphs )
Looks are a particularly touchy subject for Alexandra. From a young age she always loved performing but whenever she tried to get somewhere with her music, the rejection always came with the same line. 'You just don't have the right look we need.' Of course Alexandra takes this to mean she isn't pretty and thus she is fairly insecure about her appearance, constantly finding something wrong with herself. But in reality, she is fairly pretty. She isn't drop dead supermodel glamorous or anything like that but she is pretty in her own quirky way.
So let's start with her hair. Alexandra's hair isn't particularly exciting. It is chocolate brown and fairly straight, in fact forget fairly; it is straight. Alexandra, like any other teenage girl, is always playing with her hair and changing it. She has been growing it out for the past few years much to the displeasure of her family. We all know that the longer your hair, the longer your shower and considering Alex washes her hair twice, that's one long shower. Much longer compared to her two brothers who are in and out in less than five minutes. Alex's hair is currently pretty long and falls down about half way down her back. She occasionally curls her hair because we all know girls with straight hair want curls and vice versa and Alex is no exception but most of the time she prefers to keep her straight locks. Although Alexandra likes to wear her hair down a lot, she does like putting it up too and tends to pull her hair into messy buns or low ponytails sometimes but if she is bored she will try new hairstyles.
Now we come to Alexandra's face. She has the same features as everyone else: two eyes, two ears, a mouth and nose etc, etc. But there is so much more to her than that. Her eyes are a deep shade of chocolate brown and she has fairly long eyelashes that she inherited from her mother. These long lashes come in handy when she spots a cute guy nearby and she has no need for mascara which saved her a lot of money so that's definitely a plus. She plucks and waxes her eyebrows so of course they are well shaped although she's had a few mishaps with them and had to wear big hats and arrange her fringe very carefully for a while but thank god they grew back eventually. Her nose is something that Alex is not a big fan of because to her it is much too big and long but most of the time it looks perfectly normal, although perhaps a little longer than some people's but then again we're all allowed to have different noses aren't we? And then we have her mouth, her least favourite part of her entire body. While her lips are normal enough, the usual pale pink and fairly plump, she has fairly large teeth that she despises. They aren't something that braces could fix - not that she can afford braces anyway - and she is always very self conscious when she smiles for photos, always worried about how bad her smile will look. Usually Alex tries to take the attention away from her mouth and up to her eyes by wearing a fair bit of eyeliner and eyeshadow. Some have called her emo because of this but she brushes it off easily.
Last but certainly not least, let's go over Alexandra's body. She isn't exactly tall but she isn't really short either so she is sort of an average height, perhaps a little taller than that though. She does love her heeled boots so she often looks taller than she is but in reality she is only about 5'6, give or take a few inches. Alexandra is a healthy girl and has a decent appetite so she is well built but still fairly skinny. She isn't skinny enough to be called anorexic though and she's quite happy with her weight. Alexandra is most often seen wearing her favourite pair of skinny jeans. She is a bit of a shopaholic but her lack of money means that usually she is just window shopping. She does make some of her own clothes when possible though. Alex loves dresses and pretty outfits but overall she is most comfortable in her skinny jeans and a loose top. She also loves her shades and has been known to wear her dark sunglasses inside sometimes. oh, and don't forget her obsession with converses. As I did mention before, she has been labeled 'scene' and 'emo' by some stupid people but Alex considers herself unique. She has many different styles, constantly changing and has far too many hats but she likes her wardrobe because to her, it reflects a little bit of who she is.

character personality ,
personality:( carefree )
Alex has always been a very bubbly girl, never letting the bright smile on her lips disappear unless it was absolutely necessary. Although a lot of things have changed and Alexandra is definitely a lot wiser and mature than she used to be, she still loves to smile and enjoy life. There isn't much that can get her down when she is in a happy mood and it's almost impossible not to smile when Alex is around. Alex considers herself to be very carefree and loves to make every second special. She doesn't worry about much and is often quite oblivious to all the problems going on around her. She does know that the world isn't perfect but she doesn't like to think about all of that and remains as positive as possible. Alex doesn't worry about much. She knows that everything will work out somehow and stressing over things you can't change isn't really going to help much.
( naive )
Along with her carefree nature comes a fairly naive side to Alexandra. She has grown up in a fairly small town and hasn't been very exposed to the things that happen to most teenagers. While most of the teens in Valkyrie are partying it up hard and into drugs and drinking, Alexandra Suresh is obliviously sipping her green tea and having cheesy sleepovers with her best friends. Alex tends to assume that everyone is as nice as she is and can be taken advantage of very easily. Plenty of boys have tried to take advantage of her and often they've almost succeeded too but they always forget that Alexandra has two older brothers who can be very overprotective. They know what Alex is like so they know what could happen to her.
( sweetie )
Like her cousin and like her brother can be sometimes, Alex is a sweet girl. she is always willing to help out people in need and despite being poor, she has often given things away to beggars and homeless people because although she can't really afford to give to charity since she almost is charity, she feels sorry for the people. Alex has always been a friendly child and rarely says a bad word about anyone but she has a bad side. Of course she does, who doesn't? Alexandra just knows how to control hers and only brings it out when absolutely necessary. Niceness is just part of her nature. Alex loves smiling and regularly smiles at strangers on the street because just a small smile can brighten someone's day. Have you ever had someone walk past and smile and it's made you feel just that little bit happier? You know the feeling, it's like we're all helping each other when we're down. Well Alex knows that feeling and wants to spread it around everywhere.
( strong )
You have to be strong to grow up in Alexandra's situation with an alcoholic father and barely any money. She didn't really understand her father's problems when she was younger but as she got older she figured it out and it was almost normal to see her dad passed out on the couch surrounded by bottles. She has had to help take her dad to the hospital sometimes when he's unconcious or had alcohol poisoning. both of which have happened several times but Alex stays strong, barely crying at all. These things have taught Alex a lot and made her a lot stronger and wiser. She never wanted to cry in front of her parents because she didn't want to upset her mother anymore than she already was and Alex never knew what her dad was going to do so she saved her tears until the lights were off, late at night.
( secretive )
Despite being a very bubbly and seemingly all-round happy girl, Alexandra has another big flaw. She is very secretive. Having the alcoholic father that she does means that Alex rarely has friends over because she's terrified that they'll see her drunk dad and disown Alexandra and we all know that the one thing every teenage girl hates the most is rejection and being left out. Of course Alex is too embarrassed to tell her friends about her dad's drinking problems so she's forced to tell lies to keep people away and always finds a reason to make sure the party doesn't end up at her house. Alexandra hates that she's become ashamed of her family but she can't help it and is very secretive when people ask her about them. Despite being quite the chatterbox most of the time, it doesn't mean that Alex can't hold her secrets and she does so very well. So well that she's managed to go through her entire school life so far without anyone being suspicious about that fact that what she has been telling people might not be entirely true and there might be more to those unspoken words than everyone bothers to pay attention to.

history:( pre - alexandra )
Harry Suresh was never a high achiever. He left that job to his older brother Frank who was clearly the brains of the family and always had been. Harry was used to it and while he got pushed to the sidelines, he found his own thing to do. He drank. And he drank. And then he drank a little more. Yes, Harry turned into an alcoholic much to the dismay of his parents and his brother. Frank was disappointed to see his little brother turning out like he was at such a young age but Harry didn't care about what his family though because he was simply too miserable. To him, they were only giving him sympathy because they felt they had to, not because they actually cared about him like he wished they would. In all honesty, the rest of the family did love him but it was difficult to show it when the person you love was constantly drunk and throwing fits at the most oddest of times.
Eventually Harry moved away from his family and ended up in the tiny town of Hinesville in Georgia, right in the Southern area of USA. It was here that he met Catherine Hicks who was only a few years younger than him and fairly pretty. Pretty enough to catch his eye around town several times anyway. Of course Harry still loved his alcohol a little too much so he didn't get around to getting to know Catherine but one day night when Harry was getting nice and drunk at the local town bar, Catherine took pity on his sorry figure and offered to take him home since he clearly couldn't drive. After that, Harry felt obliged to go and thank her and that thank-you somehow led to a date which led to another date which eventually led to an engagement. The wedding was fairly small and Harry did invite his family after Catherine insisted it would be rude not to. He was in no position to disagree with her and honestly he had no idea why she'd actually agreed to marry him but none the less, they had a perfect wedding and couldn't have been happier - well unless Harry wasn't the alcoholic that he was but he managed to keep his drinking to a minimum with Catherine around.
After a almost a year, Catherine started getting clucky and it wasn't long before she gave birth to their first child Jackson Suresh. He was a fairly easy going child and a delight for both Catherine and Harry, but he wasn't enough but they wanted to dedicate their time to raising him properly before having another child. Of course they couldn't wait too long and only two years later, Catherine found herself pregnant again. She was overjoyed of course although Harry was unsure of how he was going to continue paying for the family's needs on his small postman's wage but none the less, on the Seventeenth of June, Catherine gave birth to her second boy Timothy Lucas Suresh. She was hoping for a girl though but was delighted with Timothy all the same. Harry was ecstatic of course. Now he had two boys to help him out when he got too old to work (or got too drunk to do anything). As the boys got older, Catherine still wanted a little girl. She adored her two boys but they were reckless and constantly getting dirty. At least if she had a girl, maybe they could teach their brothers some control. Well, luck seemed to be with Catherine and it wasn't long until she fell pregnant again, this time by accident, and it was a girl which made Catherine just over the moon with joy.( hey baby )
Alexandra Leslie Suresh was born in the Hinesville local hospital. Hinesville is a very small town so everyone in it was delighted to hear that their local postman Harry Suresh's wife Catherine had given birth to her third child, this one a baby girl. Alexandra grew up with her two brothers Jackson and Timothy and she was fairly happy. She didn't get many toys and nice things because of the family's lack of money but Alexandra didn't know what she was missing out on so she was happy. After all, how can you miss something if you've never had it? So Alex went along just fine without the latest toys and baby outfits. With two older brothers, of course Alex grew up to be a bit of a tough cookie. There was no way her brothers would let her cry if she slipped over. A grazed knee was something regular for them so why should she make a fuss? Alex soon learned that crying got you no where with Timothy and Jackson. If she did cry they either ran to get their mother or laughed at her. What nice brothers eh? But Alex loved her brothers all the same. They looked out for her and eventually they figured out how to comfort her if she was crying or upset.
When she started school, of course Alex realised the difference between her second hand things and everyone else's new uniforms but unlike Timothy, Alex had a big personality which made up for her lack of money so she went through her first few years of school with plenty of friends and was completely oblivious to her father's issues. Alex had a way of making friends fairly easily. She wasn't shy and felt no shame in going up to complete strangers and saying hello. In fact that's how Alex befriended almost half of her class before the first week of school was over. People often said that Alex had that 'spark' that made you want to get to know her better.( when i grow up )
This was just elementary school though. As Alex got older, she had her first boyfriend. His name was Daniel and he was in the year above her. He was cute, he was nice to her and to Alex, he was her first love. Of course the relationship only lasted a week or so but never the less, Alex enjoyed it while she could. Daniel may not have been her 'special someone' but he was the first of several boyfriends for Alex and part of her inspiration in several songs she wrote later on. Speaking of this, Alex took up music out of pure interest when she found a guitar in her garage at the age of eleven. She found the guitar and was curious and it turned out that her friend's dad played guitar and once he heard that she was interested in taking it up, he offered to teach her. Alex was delighted and it turned out she was a quick learner. To sum things up, Alex was living a pretty good life. She had her music, her brothers and her parents. Sure, she didn't have a lot of money but she was content with how things seemed to be going.
But then Alexandra started to notice things. She noticed how Jackson was rarely home anymore and Timothy barely spoke to anyone unless he had to. And then when she was just twelve Alex came home late from a party one night and spotted her dad lying passed out on the couch with several empty bottles of alcohol next to him. A little more observing for the next few months confirmed Alex's fears that her dad was an alcoholic and a bad one too. He wasn't just hurting himself, he was destroying the entire family. She began to be embarrassed about her dad and his drinking only got worse so Alex started closing up to her friends and became a lot more secretive. It wasn't too obvious at first but it didn't take long for her close friends to notice the difference in the normally bubbly and open Alex. She always found a way to stop the party from being at her house and never had friends over anymore. She hated it but she didn't want anyone to see her dad wandering around drunk or passing out. Who wants to show their friends that? Over the next few years, Alex became used to finding her dad drunk at home and several times she had to help her mother get Harry to the hospital because of alcohol poisoning or because he has fallen unconscious.
This was something no thirteen year old should have to go through but Alex coped. She knew she could never cry in front of her mother because Catherine had enough to go through but late at night, Alex started a new habit of creeping into Timothy's bedroom. She knew he would be up because he was a night-owl like her and despite the fact that he was a jerk, Timothy always let Alex stay in his room. Sometimes they talked, sometimes she brought her guitar in and sang softly with it while Timothy read or wrote and sometimes they'd just sit or lie down until Alex fell asleep and Timothy would carry her back to her own bed. This was something her parents never knew about but Jackson did because she'd come to his room a few times too but he fell asleep earlier so he'd ended up being useless. Clearly things had changed drastically for the once completely oblivious girl. But miraculously, Alex's personality didn't change much. She kept her cheerful smile on her lips as much as possible and tried to forget what was going on at home whenever she could. She knows she can't do much to change things and never stopped being herself. Unlike Timothy, Alex didn't let her dad change who she was. She continued to be that carefree, naive sweetheart.( just a teenager )
Now at fifteen years of age, Alex is a slightly tainted soul. She's seen her dad at his lowest point and had to watch her mother go through this too which she hated but she couldn't help either of them because these problems were out of her reach. When Jackson moved out a few years ago, Alex missed him heaps and called him almost every night. Although she wasn't as close to him as she was to Timothy, she still loved him. He was her eldest brother and had always made a big effort to look out for her, no matter what the situation. Jackson missed her too of course and Alex visited him as often as possible but he was living with several of his mates now and it just wasn't possible for her to live there, as much as she wanted to. But she still had Timothy so Alex went on, sometimes going into Jackson's old room just to sit and think. It became her comfort room when her dad was particularly drunk and Timothy wasn't around which wasn't too often thank goodness.
But when he ran away from home, Alex realised she was alone in this place now. She started sleeping at friend's houses more and avoided home as much as possible. Her dad was furious with Timothy after the big fight but Tim was gone so he couldn't take his anger out on Tim anymore. Or Jackson. Harry had lost both of his sons and it was because of his drinking. If he was a better father, chances were, Jackson wouldn't have moved out so early and might have been more willing to help out and the same goes for Timothy. But they were both gone. So what did Harry do? Well, he turned on his little daughter. He became a lot more aggressive and yelled at Alex for the smallest things. Her life was turning into hell. She turned to music more and she never told anyone what her dad was like.
But it wasn't until one night after about a month or so of this torment, Harry was yelling at Alex as usual and crossed the line. He hit his daughter for talking back at him. Twice actually. First there was the slap across the face which sent her into shock which was why, in his drunken state, Harry had time to lash out again, reaching her arm this time. It was then that Alex knew she had to leave too. Alex was horrified. Her own father had hit her. Sure she knew he was out of control but she never thought he'd actually lash out on her but the red mark on her cheek and the rising bruise on her arm confirmed that she wasn't imagining things. So Alex packed a suitcase with as much as she could fit, grabbed her guitar and ran to the nearest bus stop. Her parting words to her father were "Good luck explaining this to Mum." Her mum was still at work while this was going on and by the time Catherine got home, all her children had left home. Alex didn't know where to go since she had no idea where Jackson was living anymore because he'd moved a fair bit recently but Alex knew where Timothy was. He was staying with their cousin Nina up in that rich town Valkyrie. She was sure of it. Alex hadn't been there for a while but she knew Tim loved it there and the last time he called her, the number had been a California number so it was obvious. Catching several buses and trains with the money that she'd brought with her, Alex found her way across the country to go and find her brother and find comfort where she knew she would. Valkyrie was to be her home now.
