BEST MEMORY: “i’d have to say my best memory would be real recently when my father said i could go to college in the states. it was to keep an eye on magz but i get the chance to play soccer so it’s kind of a win/win for both me and my father. i get to play, he gets to sleep at night.
WORST MEMORY: “my worst memory would have to be when i was about seven years old. i got really curious about my father and what it really was he was doing. i followed him one day and a pair of guard dogs found me before the guards did. they attacked me, didn’t cause too much damage, but i’m still secretly afraid of dogs now because of it.”
OVERALL PERSONALITY: there is no one in the world more like juan corinthos sr. than his son j.r. when kids pick a role model to idolize most pick a superhero, a sports star, a celebrity on the big screen, or even a family member. not much is different for j.r., except for the fact that his father is a mexican drug lord specialized in all things that could be considered evil. j.r. takes after his father in just about every way. he has the same acquired attitude as his father from the womanizing and scandals to the bipolar disorders and the mood swings. j.r. is the spitting image of his father both in looks and personality. as an individual he truly lacks focus. there’s just about nothing the twenty-one year old can’t do, but he won’t unless given some reason to act. be it money, sex, or anything else for that matter, j.r. has to have some sort of motivation before he’ll do a single thing.
the only exception to that is family. j.r. was raised to believe that family is the most important aspect of a man’s life, and he should be so lucky as to find that out for himself one day. in the mean time, j.r. makes up for it all by taking care of the family he’s got now, meaning his step mothers, brothers, and sisters. the closest he’s to his family, aside from his father, is his oldest step sister maggie. he loves just how passionate about the business she is, and without any reason to be so dedicated. j.r. knows just how unlikely it would be for her to run the business not only because she would be third in like to inherit it, but also because the business is predominantly a male-run business. women rarely make their way in unless they are close to the head honcho, which may be the only reason why magz is so close. he finds it fascinating that such a brilliant girl could choose this life over something else, especially when he would choose otherwise on any given day.
if he could ever choose to be something else, j.r. would immediately choose sports over this business, soccer in particular. the boy was born with a god given talent to kick a ball, and the game is one of the only weak spots he really has. because of his father’s reputation no agent or club will touch him, he learned that from an early age as a child in school in mexico. he’s a great talent, but he’s damn sure he’ll never play. soccer would be the only thing that would turn him away from his father and the business. it was something his mother had given to him before she died. even as a two year old, j.r. had still remembered the things his mother had said and what she’d taught him. still, when his father honed in on him to become his predecessor in the business, j.r. let go of his other dreams in order to follow in his father’s footsteps. though it bothers him to not play professionally, he still plays and he still makes a ton of money from what he does. he doesn’t regret letting it go as much as he would if he had nothing to fall back on.

LIVING SITUATION: valks.
HISTORY: “let’s see. where to begin. well parent’s first i guess. my mother is mexican born and bred, as is my father. she was a middle class woman, which in mexico basically means you’re better than the majority and lucky to be, i can’t remember what it was she used to do for a living. from what i remember hearing i believe she wanted to be a teacher but hadn’t gotten that far before she met my father. he was a kid from the slums. he’d grown up on the wrong side of town, lived a rough life, and was very used to having to resort to violence to solve his problems. but hey, why guy doesn’t right? anyways somewhere in between here and there, they met and fell in love. my mother wasn’t around long enough to tell the story and juan, fuck the man doesn’t even talk about her. he’s all business now, but we’ll get to that.
anyways from that ‘epic’ love story bull, they apparently got married and had me. i was named after my father, just one little more stamp on my head that said i would be heir to his little business. even way back then it wasn’t a little business. a few months after i was born, my father confessed as to how he managed to get so rich from what little he had. and this is part of the story he did tell me. when he was a teenager he’d pretty much been on his own. his father was an abusive drunk and his mother was either too poor or too stupid to leave, so he kept away from the house. he knew of this kind of gang in the slums of tijuana, i don’t quite think you could call them a mob, but they were the kind of people who hurt others to get what they wanted. he knew this group used teenage kids to do a lot of their dirty work. he weaseled his way into the business, worked up the ranks until he was one of the most trusted under this guy’s control. juan rallied the other workers, mutinied, killed the guy and took over the business for himself.
rival gangs in the area didn’t particularly like hearing about juan’s hostile takeover. they didn’t want someone around them who they couldn’t trust not to kill them as well, so they put a hit out on him. by this time my brother raoul was born. what juan hadn’t anticipated was the fact that his family could be a target. you could call it a rookies mistake though i think he just wasn’t thinking. anyways my mother got kidnapped because of his dumbass mistake and was eventually killed to retaliate against juan and his gang. after that my father was a completely changed man. his house went on lockdown with guards everywhere surround his house and my brother and i, and he went on a rampage against the gang that killed my mother. once they were taken care of he took over the territory, gained some key dockside estates, and turned his little gang into a drug shipping/smuggling industry with a coffee importer cover.
my mother’s death really brought out his bipolar side. one minute he’d be some family man who cared about what my brother and i wanted, and the next he was off somewhere around the city sleeping with some woman he’d just met. that was how this whole thing started. he knocked up some woman, some american who was in tijuana for a little vacation, and wound up taking her home. now i knew the woman was a ditz, even as a four year old i could tell that not all of the lights were on in this particular attic. she couldn’t figure out why there were so many people around the house and why he was one of the richest men in tijuana, and what this white stuff was that people were bringing through the house. honestly this bitch was dense as a fucking tree. so about eight months into her pregnancy juan finally confesses what it really is that he does and this american takes off. he tracked her down across the border and apparently brought her back, new family and all. he married her for some godforsaken reason that i’ve yet to figure out. after a frigid first year of marriage he wound up getting her pregnant i believe it was the second time he’d ever slept with her, not good for a man like juan corinthos.
juan got really, really bored after isabella’s birth, cheated, and got maria pregnant. now i like maria. the woman has a decent head on her shoulders and she doesn’t let anyone really push her around like sophia did. sophia’s now an ex and i have one more half sister, which really goes to prove a point. about a year ago my sister came up with the brilliant idea to head up a branch of the organization on her own, which is a stupid idea might i add. i talked my father into letting me go to college in the area so i can bug her, but mostly so i can keep an eye on her. she is family after all. plus, i get to play soccer.
