Appearance:
Bea McPherson has always been beautiful – there’s no denying. Even during her awkward teen years where she felt like she was two feet taller then every other girl in her grade, Bea still turned heads in that ‘she’s beautiful way. Standing at 5’8, she’s always been tall, rivalling the height of her brothers. It’s never been a problem for Beatrice and over the years she’s embraced that fact that she’s tall. However her weight has always been an issue. She comes from a history of big boned woman and for years wished she could be that tall skinny girl and become a model – just like everyone told her she should. She’s never been overweight and has always been classified as “healthy” but when you’re fifteen and twenty pounds heavier then your best friend, it’s difficult to deal with. She became exercise obsessed and learned how to eat healthy but developed an eating disorder. She thought about, and would never lie about that, but her mother raised her to be strong and she toughed through her insecurities.
It seems all the McPherson family inherited the golden blonde locks that both parents seemed to have run in their families. Beatrice has long, blonde hair, that she now colours to keep it’s hue, but it has been the same colour throughout her entire life. She’s not too big on change and even things like changing her hair colour take months of consideration before she decides not to do anything. She has the same complexion as her younger brother Charlie and they actually share quite a few of the same features. Their skin, although Bea’s has always been a lot clearer, their eyes are different shades of the colour green – they look like siblings.
Beatrice has always had the same style – classic and reserved while always being up on the trends. As she graduated high school and began University for medicine her interest in getting up every morning ad looking good decreased. Sweat pants and ponytails were what she lived in, while shuffling from class to class, studying and attempting to having a mild social life. Her closet was still full of the designer clothes she owned, pieces of her mother’s collection, the cute tops and form fitting jeans, Bea just didn’t feel like dressing up. Now however, as she’s out of school and has time to wake up every morning and get dressed Bea usually wears nice sweaters and shirts, jeans or slack or nice causal dresses.
Personality:
HOW SHE NORMALLY IS/WHAT SHE USED TO BE:
Strong | Loyal
Sophie has always encouraged her daughter to be strong and stand up for herself and Bea has always tried to do her mother proud. Throughout her whole life she’s tried to stay true to herself while doing what’s right, standing up for herself and those around her while being honest. Bea always tries her hardest to stay true to her decisions and not back down from anything. She puts on a hard face when it’s needed and as she was working towards a career in medicine – surgery specifically that hard face would have been very important. As well Beatrice is loyal. She’s faithful to the people she loves and likes to think she is the type to stick it out through whatever problems. When it comes to romantic relationships she doesn’t give up or stop fighting until it is obvious that no matter how hard one works there’s nothing fixing it.
Ambitious
While Beatrice has proved herself to be intelligent, she isn’t the smartest one out there. She’s average. However, that’s never faired to well with the girl. Tired of being just another girl with the same old grades, the same old desires, she started to take pride in her studies and what she did in order to work towards greater expectations. She comes from a family of businessman and lawyers – most of which rely more on chance and luck then brain power and studying and in a male dominated family which has grossed millions of dollars throughout the past and has struggled to make her own name in the legacy. After being accepted into Oxford University she set her sights on medicine and becoming a doctor. She studied, passed every class and was well on her way – until she dropped out.
Friendly | Optimistic
She’s always been the type to look on the bright side and share that bright side with anyone around her. It can often be annoying, and every once and awhile Bea realizes that, but really she just likes people to be happy and hates the worry factor so she is sure to find the silver lining of every cloud. She’s friendly and likes to get to know people. She’s grown up in a gated community, surrounded by other kids who had parents just like she did, with million dollar a year salaries, vacation homes in the tropics and someone to do everything for them but she doesn’t on those who are less then her. Bea doesn’t see them like that and gives everyone a chance. She’s friendly and accepting.
Nice | Compassionate
Now she’s not overly nice or a push over in any way, she’s simply a decent person and knows how to act politely around people. If there is one thing she learned from her grandmother it was to have manners and actually use them. In the classroom and among those who are her competition she’s tried to shelter the goodness in her in order to avoid looking weak, but Bea is human and full of compassion. Although she hasn’t had a hard life, until this point, in any way, she feels as if events in the past have allowed her to connect with people – or so he thinks. Beatrice believes that this is another reason why she’ll be a good doctor however she’s the type who tends to get too involved.
WHAT SHE’S BECOME
Beatrice has come to California in an attempt to get over the death of her professor and fiancé, the father of her child and love of her life. He passed recently after a heart attack and as a result Bea has fallen apart. She’s in Valkyire, where her father and brother live, to restart her life. It’s only been a couple weeks since Dennis’s passing and she’s no where near getting over it, but being around her home where he would spend the night, going to the classroom where he taught was way too much and she had to get out of their. Moving across the world seemed to be appropriate, but there’s no doubt that she’s different, no longer the happy, friendly women she was before.
Defensive | Uncaring
To put it in the simplest terms, Bea has let herself go. Whether she’s stuffing her face with cupcakes she just made, or laying around until two in the afternoon, she is no longer the go getter, up at seven, kinda girl who considers day a success if she’s completely memorized her study cards. She’s in a funk that she can’t get out of and every morning it’s the same. As well, she completely denies this. At every mention at how different she is or how much she should really get out of the house for a few hours, she retaliates, claiming she’s fine. Bea doesn’t like anyone brining up the instance of Dennis’s death and gets defensive at the sound of his name.
Moody
This could just be because she’s pregnant and her hormones are out of control, but Bea’s mood swings are out of control. She goes from crying one minute, to be ecstatically happy the next. Always the one to be calm and composed, Bea has been flying off the handle a little more often then usual. Her family has been going along with it, although concerned, they’ve tried not to push her buttons or bring up the sudden change, but they’re aware.

Flaws:
- Her normal self is sometimes quite annoying. She’s very optimistic and has no problem sharing that with anyone, whether or not they want to hear it.
- She’s indecisive – decision making has never been something she’s good at and to this day it’s still the same.
- She doesn’t think she’ll ever go back to the way she was. She doesn’t believe in herself anymore.
Secrets:
- She’s pregnant with her dead fiancés baby. No one knows as of yet and Bea is unsure of the direction she wants to go. Part of her wants to keep it not only because it’s her baby but because it’ll be like having a piece of Dennis always with her, while the other part can’t even bring herself to look into the eyes of a child who will surely remind her of the man she loved. Most of all she’s just scared to become a mother.
- She realizes that dropping out of University was probably one of the biggest mistakes she’ll ever make.
- The idea of even thinking about being with anyone who isn’t Dennis scares the shit out of her.
History:
Beatrice McPherson is the second and middle child born to Carl and Sophie McPherson (now Clinton) on August 16, 1985 in Newcastle, England. The McPherson’s hadn’t planned on expanding their family so soon after the birth of Edward, their first born. Carl was busy moving up the ranks of Sophie’s father’s company while she was getting her fashion career of the ground. Actually having kids was conversation had millions of times before the couple actually began to try. They were ‘career people’, determined to be successful and if meant delaying the family process they were okay with it. Of course, when Sophie discovered she was pregnant and nine months later delivered a baby they were ecstatic and fully ready to raise that baby.
Beatrice was the first granddaughter born into the family and has been spoiled since she was born. When she was four and her brother, Charlie was born the attention was split between the three of them which meant Bea wasn’t getting as much as she used to. She put up a fight and according to her parents recalling those years, she hated her baby brother. It’s funny nowadays as the McPherson children are rather close but as child their sibling rivalry was one to rival even the nastiest of children’s fights.
After the birth of Charlie, the marriage between the McPherson’s was coming to an end. They were both ambitious people with busy careers who hardly ever saw each other and they divorced when Bea was eight. They remained civil for the children and they didn’t part on horrendously bad terms, but they didn’t remain the best of friends either. Carl soon left Sophie’s father business and moved to California, where he had lived for his entire life before moving to England to go to school. He started up his law career once again and moved on to become a successful politician. Bea and her siblings remained in England for their schooling. They attended the best schools and were generally very happy. They flew to the states for certain holidays and school vacations to visit their father. Bea always missed him, but England was her home and she couldn’t leave.
Charlie moved to the states for his grade nine year which was the same year Beatrice began University at Oxford University. She was driven and wouldn’t accept anything besides success. Bea had always been smart – her father used to tease that she got all the brains, but she wasn’t a genius or anything. She got distracted easily so it took everything that she had in her to put all her focus into her studies. She was determined to make it through with honours, and eventually become a surgeon.
That was the plan, and it was working until her third year, when she entered the lecture hall of Dennis Nichols, a professor of Bea’s and the man who would ultimately be her downfall. She was the type who frowned upon teacher-student relationships, who lectured her friends on the stupidity of even risking it, and then it happened to her. She went to his office a couple times, for help, and found herself enjoying his company more so then his teaching. He was funny, sarcastic, attractive and nice to her. He had a way of brightening her day in ways Bea thought underneath. She had always believed in love, but never thought the kind of love she had with Dennis would happen to her.
It was whirlwind and quick, lustful and fun and Bea was never happier. For someone who had previously been engrossed in her studies, blowing of her friends to guarantee her success, it was not something anyone expected. And that’s why she told no one. It was Bea’s idea to keep it under wraps. At first she thought it wouldn’t last but as the weeks turned into months, months into a year and she found herself still in love for him, the notion that he was the one became even more real.
December of her fourth year of University, Bea discovered she was pregnant. The news was met with different emotions. Her relationship with Dennis, who was about thirty years older then her, was still quite secret. Besides a few trusted friends, Beatrice worked hard to keep it under wraps. When she told Dennis he was so happy. Previously married with no children, he had always claimed that he missed his opportunity to procreate. He didn’t meet the situation with the same caution and as big a deal as she did and with that he proposed. Guaranteeing her it wasn’t just because she was pregnant with his child, it was because he loved her and wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. He assured her that a career with medicine would still be able to occur, but she didn’t need to be convinced. She loved Dennis and eagerly accepted.
And then he died.
It was unexpected and Dennis had a heart attack. Emergency surgery was preformed and he died on the table. Beatrice had never been more upset, more heartbroken, more unsure of what to do with herself. The relationship was out in the open and she didn’t even care. She was devastated, like anyone should be and no one knew what to say or do. After sitting around her flat for two and a half weeks, she booked a flight to California and dropped out of school. Everyone told her to take some time off, and go back when she was ready, the school was willing to comply with whatever she wanted. No one expected her to fully end her career as a medical student, give up three and a half years of her life and leave the country. She called her father from the airport, told him she was coming, and with two suitcases full of her most important possessions, she boarded a plane and moved into her father’s house.
Death is difficult, and Bea has no idea what to do with herself. She hadn’t seen her father, brother, step mother or half siblings in over a year and all of a sudden she was sleeping in their guest room, baking mountains of cupcakes and plastering a fake smile on her face, telling everyone she was fine. Now she’s been in Valkyrie for about a week and has yet to bring up her pregnancy. At first it escaped her mind and she didn’t think about it, she was too wrapped up Dennis’ death. She’s unsure of where she wants to go, confused about her feelings towards the unborn baby growing inside of her. Part of her wants to keep it, have a piece of her dead fiancé for the rest of her life, while the other part can’t seem to cope with notion of looking into (what she assumes will be) same eyes of Dennis everyday while knowing she’ll never be able to see him again.
No one knows and at this point she doesn’t want anyone to know. She’s getting to know her brother again, hanging out with him and meeting up with those she met on her visits way back when and just trying to get her mind off of Dennis. It’ll be a long road until she’s okay again, and some mornings Bea isn’t sure she’ll make it. She’s trying though, and right now, that’s all that matters.
