Benjamin Victor Demtra:
Ben has always been taller than his twin, Emilia. Not that that was a hard feat to manage. He was larger at birth, and remains that way to this day. He has the same brown eyes as his sister, although without the bags, for he enjoys getting more sleep than his twin. His short brown hair is normally combed back with a small handful of gel in the morning, although if he is feeling lazy he is perfectly willing to leave it down.
Generally Ben doesn’t spend a lot of time on his looks. In the mornings, he finds something that seems remotely clean, takes a shower and goes. Only on occasion does he actually take more than ten minutes getting ready to go out.
Like his sister, he’s fairly simple, although he can be aggressive if you mess with him too much. His pride and sarcasm can get the better of him sometimes, so his mouth can run away with him. But if you take the time to get to know him, he’s an alright guy. Loyal, polite, and hilariously sarcastic, he makes friends easily.
Ben is insanely in love with his music. He makes a habit of carrying both his guitar and a pen around with him almost anywhere. He can pick up inspiration from even some of the simplest things. He started playing the acoustic during the fifth grade, while walking the streets one day. It had seemed something just clicked with him.
The History and Other Things:
With the birth of the Demtra twins on August 7th, 1990, Benjamin was eleven minutes older than his sister, Emilia. That’s something he never lets her forget. Although he was born perfectly healthy, his sister had severe heart problems. For his whole life, he’s been extremely protective of her. He wants his sister to be safe and happy; he’ll do anything to keep it that way.
When his father decided to go back to school instead of working his pathetic, night shift of a job, Ben found himself many different hobbies. Video games, comic books, and finally music. It was hard to keep up these hobbies, considering that they lived in the Shaks at the time, but somehow he always kept himself busy.
During the time that his family lived in a small apartment, Ben decided he needed to shape up and protect his sister and parents. He decided he, in a sense, needed to be the man of the house. This could be when his aggression towards others started, especially if it involved his sister. It’s an older brother thing.
He found solitude in the form of music however, shortly after the start of the fifth grade. He had a habit of roaming places where he didn’t belong, which was why he was in the Valks in the first place. That was when he spotted it. Later, he’d call it the love of his life. But back then, he just named it a calling. What was this item? A guitar. Ever since, that has been his life.
Unlike his sister, Ben lives in the dorms. His room has things you would find in a normal guy’s dorm, but a few other things as well. His naturally cold blood requires him to keep a thick black comforter, and his mom requires his sheets to match with them. Posters of random bands were hung on the wall, and bookshelves were filled with his favorites. Hey, he was his sister’s twin.
The Awkward Flaws:
Ever since he was small, Ben has been a fighter. He finds something he believes in and goes after it, not stopping until he gets there. His dreams become his reality, and almost engulf him. He’s been known to lose himself in what he thinks he’s doing right, and what is actually going on.
Very much like his sister, Ben is not very outgoing. He has his own perspective on people in general, and keeps to himself unless the time comes to throw in a comment or two. Those comments are either rude, or sarcastic. It’s not very easy for him to make friends unless they somehow find his comments funny. Although he has his moments of unusual kindness.
Example:
Experienced fingers plucked at a set of guitar strings, playing a soft melody. Normally brown eyes were closed, letting the tune sink into his very being. He played this way often, letting the melody take him away. He was sitting in his silent dorm room, books and clothes scattered across the floor around him.
The boy’s name was Ben. Benjamin Victor Demtra. But if you called him anything but Ben, you’d probably lose a tooth or two. He had what he called his ‘lazy day’ hair, where he showered, and then left it as is. Naturally, it stuck out in different places, and –like the rest of his clothes- was a little disheveled.
It was days like these that he didn’t feel held back at all. He just felt himself, and that was all he needed to be.
