ANDROMEDA WALLACE *HAVE I BEEN ON YOUR MIND? WHAT'S A VOICE WITHOUT A SONG? SOMETHING IN YOUR HEAD YOU'VE BEEN FIGHTING ALL THE LONG---------------------- to say that neither andromeda wallace or donny davis would have seen this common in a million years was an understatement. and a rather gargantuan one, at that. just look at the two of them. donny was a freaky smart, cynical, computer genius who apparently put that talent to use as a hacker. andie was a lonely greek bombshell who attempted to appease all her insecurities with attention from the opposite sex. they were nothing alike and they had nothing in common and they were probably the last two people anyone would imagine together. especially if they knew that andie beheld people of donny's stature of intelligence with contempt and irritation, and that donny was not the type of guy to possess a large tolerance for someone who put as much emphasis on her looks as andie did. they just didn't seem to go together. which was one of the reasons andie kept wondering why this just had to fucking happen. why was it that donny davis was occupying so many of her thoughts these days? why was it that she got an odd sensation in her stomach when he looked her in they eye? why was it that she cared so much about him when there was less than no possibility of anything ever happening between the two of them? why was it that she had fallen for one of the very few young men in valkyrie who wouldn't even think twice about her when considering potential partners? why exactly was it that she had feelings for a guy who would never ever have feelings for her? it fucking sucked. even more so because she had realized that these were not feelings she could push back and forget about, with a few shots of whiskey if necessary. they were just there and, try as she might, she couldn't deny that they weren't going away, nor could she just forget donny davis entirely. hell, thinking about the concept forgetting donny entirely actually sent a pang of sadness through her.
which was what confirmed to her that she was pretty much royally screwed here, because it seemed as good an indication as any that this was really happening. that these goddamned annoying feelings that would probably wind up being the death of her were real, and that she was apparently stuck feeling this way about donny until she figured out a way to get the fuck over it, or life would finally realize that the scales controlling the realms of possibility had been tipped and fix it. the latter seemed quite unlikely, because, let's face it. when had life ever been known for the kindness and fairness bestowed upon those living it? exactly. normally, where it almost any circumstance but this one, andie would be able to deal with it, as she had been dealing with it, albeit unhealthily, for years. because she had arrived at the conclusion that life was sucky and unfair a very long time ago. it was old news. but this... this was just different. she had heard before that opposites supposedly "attracted" but her and donny? they were just so irresutely different that it seemed like the fact that they couldn't possible be attracted to one another was something permanent enough to have a law of nature written about it. and yet, here andromeda was, attracted to donny davis. what the fuck.
in response to her question about what exactly it was he did to people with his computer geeking skills, he gave a have smile that made her stomach turn in a good sort of way, which annoyed her. damn it all to hell. he shrugged and turned his computer on, revealing three windows. one was professional looking and the text on it indicated that it was probably some sort of website for some sort of an american bank. the other two didn't appear to be websites; for one was simply a black abyss filled with zeroes and ones scuttling across it which kind of gave andie a headache, and the other was just some sort of clock with a bar about a quarter of the way full. oh boy. "when that is done, i will have transferred about three point five pennies from one hundred thousand different accounts, approximately 3,500 dollars. most people aren't going to notice three pennies missing, and it surely won't ruin them but it'll mean rent and food for me, izzy, liz, widow, orion, etc. now, it's harder to do that without getting caught than for me hack into a few databases and empty one person's account completely along with falsified debt into the thousands and set them up to look like they're committing credit card fraud and get them sent to prison."
it was just so weird; having to see him like this, as a badass. now that she thought about it, she really could have invisioned him with this trait before finding out about this whole gang thing. he wasn't the typical nerd. "this one guy, i made his identity look falsified and that his real identity was a serial killer from dallas. heh, been in sing sing ever since." sing sing, what the fuck was that? andie couldn't recall ever hearing of it before... oh wait. duh. it was probably a prison. where else would a supposed serial killer be sent? wait a minute. she was about to open her mouth incredulously to ask if he had seriously had an innocent man sent to prison, but he beat her to the punch and started speaking again. "dont worry though, the guy deserved a life sentence anyways." she was going to ask what the guy had done, but she decided against it. she had been given more than enough information to absorb already today, she didn't need any more. so she simply nodded slowly, eyebrows raised. "well... that's impressive i guess," she said, because she really couldn't think of anything else. at this point she really didn't know what she was supposed to be thinking at all. things were so damn weird lately. "yeah because punching a cop who can see you and therefore gets a personal and most likely testosterone based vengeance against you is the most intelligent route." andie scoffed. "i never said it would be a smart thing to do. i just said i would be impressed." there was a big difference, see.
as she strode hurriedly through the parking lot, her clothes getting drenched and her hair getting sectioned off into slick tendrils by the rain, she thought that she really should have expected this. she should have known she would have said something stupid like what she had said just now upstairs eventually and that she would wind up bringing this on herself. she really should have just kept herself from hanging around the davis apartment building, because it really was just like her to let some dumbass thing like that slip out. stupid, stupid, stupid. "ANDIE! wait!" andie froze, her eyes wide. donny had followed her. what the fuck was he doing? ... oh no. he knew. he fucking knew. damn it, damn it, damn it. had he come down here just to ridicule her or something? oh god. she was about to just start walking again, but he had caught up to her and was suddenly standing in front of her, cutting her off. damn, he was faster than he looked. he put out his arm and she just looked up at him, slightly out of breath and already quite wet from the rain. what was he doing? "i need for you to say it, andie." oh god. what... what was he getting at here? her eyebrows creased in confusion and distress. "i don't know how to explain it in a way for you to understand, but i do, i need to hear you say it out loud." well, way to not be slightly cryptic about it. he wanted her to admit that she liked him? that she had feelings for him? oh man. "what us?" she opened her mouth and breathed in heavily, the tears that had previously welled up in her eyes now closer than ever to breaking free. how was she supposed to explain this when she all these feelings and shit were so completely alien to her? how was she supposed to say this? "i... i don't know." she was sorely tempted to just push past him and leave, but she knew she couldn't. she bit her lip. why did he want her to say this? did he... did he feel anything for her? no. that was impossible. how could she just say this, when most of her life had been spent making sure things like this were not said? andie didn't have the words. "um, i think that i... i might..."
god. she couldn't do this. she just couldn't do this. she blinked furiously to beat back her tears, biting down harder on her lip. she cast her eyes downward, to the wet concrete beneath their the feet. but she also couldn't just stand here spitting out half, trailed off thoughts. fuck, maybe she could just blurt it out. because even though it seemed completely impossible that he could reciprocate her feelings, telling him seemed kind of unavoidable at this point, even if it was proving to be a herculean task for her. "i really like you. that us," she said softly, keeping her eyes glued to the ground. fuck.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Donny J. Davis Like Jessica Rabbit she collects bad habits gets her drinks for free Animated vixen stole Cupid's arrow and came to rescue me In the blink of an eyelid my lid opened up and I could see That she'd come to rescue me
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ------------ WHAT KIND OF HUMOR DID THIS WORLD LIKE TO play by? Andromeda Wallace and Donald Davis, stuck. It was hard for Donny to like a girl. Really it was close to impossible simply because he knew how to protect himself. He wasn't a fan of having someone else one up him and believe, when it came to women in a romantic sense, they did every single time and he had felt... had, dooped, pathetic. Basically the way most nerds feel on a day to day basis, a feeling he was proud not to have very often. He was proud of his strengths, he was proud of his agility, he was proud of his intelligence, he was proud of his attitude and cynicism. He was proud of the walls he had built up. He was thankful for them. But this? He didn't know what to do about it. He had thought about what he was ignoring on the outside and because of it these feelings came pouring through and he didn't know what to do with them. All he knew was he was terrified of them, but had to give them a shot. He could not believe how he did not see it before. Not Andie possibly liking him, that he would not believe until he heard her say it. But his feelings for her. YEP, that's right, I said it. Donald Davis had feelings for Andromeda Wallace. And it was not her appearance. And if he was going to tell her, or if, by some miracle this was actually in the process of happening, he had to make sure she knew why he liked her.
------------ HE LIKED HER FOR THE WAY SHE ROLLED HER EYES at things. He liked her for her little half smirk she did. He liked her for the way she would always fight back, even if she didn't think she was that smart. He liked her because she was incredibly smart but couldn't see it. He liked her for the scowl she had adorned when Widow had pecked him on the lips. He liked her for how no matter how confident she seemed, she always was more human than the girls he grew up around *cough*liz and widow*cough*. He liked her for a million reasons and one but not one of them was because she was physically attractive, although that did not hurt at all, more like an added bonus. And as evidence to all this, all this commotion and the bickering and the insults and everything that had gotten them to this point, there he was. Outside, in the dark, as rain soaked him through to the bones, waiting for her every word, not even feeling the cold that would undoubtedly come later. Donny was not think about pushing these emotions down, he had not had to deal with them long enough which was probably a good thing. Knowing Donny, had he known of his feelings for her the past couple months, he would have found a way to subdue them. That is just who he was. He would have over thought things, rebuilt the walls and not thought about it. But no. Not this time. He couldn't have. It was happening all of a sudden and without warning. Right now, all that he could think of was listening. Listening for her to either break him or save him. He watched her in the rain in front of him, just as wet as he was and looking more than terrified. Come on Andie. Now is the time, Break him or Save him.
------------ DONNY WATCHED HER EYES CLOSELY AS THEY SEEMED to tear up even through the heavy rainfall. This couldn't be nothing. It couldn't be. Whatever this was, it was big and probably in all objection to the cast system set up in Valkyrie because really, Donny and Andie? It sounded, to all right minds, absurd, ridiculous, and yet right now, Donny was not in his right mind and he didn't care. He noticed her take a breath about to speak and he held his. "i... i don't know." Donny furrowed his brow, what? She made a half assed attempt to keep walking which he stepped in front of her again, "No!" He exclaimed semi-frustrated, not really a yell, but much more than just a statement. He looked down at her and shook his head, calming his voice down, "No Andie, you know." He began, "You know exactly, It's me who's out of the loop here." Not a place he liked to be, for the record. He liked to know everything before everyone else. "So just tell me what you meant." He added, he voice not quieter but softer. "um, i think that i... i might..." Donny watched her as she struggled for the words. He needed her to say it. You don't get it. There is a point of being rejected so often that even if acceptance is starring you in the face, you won't believe it. It can seem like a cruel joke. He can't say anything first. He wanted to, god how he wanted to, but he couldn't. Because whether she knew it or not, she held all the power here.
------------ HE COULD FEEL A SORE IN HIS THROAT GROWING AS he nervously waited for her to continue. He quickly swallowed it down and took a deep breath as her gaze turned towards the ground. She wasn't going to say it. Donny, after a moment, let out a silent sigh and followed suit looking down at the cement. So, she couldn't say it, or she didn't feel it, or something but it wasn't going to happen and he knew it - "i really like you. that us," - - - He knew NOTHING. Donny's gaze snapped up from the ground and stared right at her eyes as she looked to the ground, her words had been soft and quiet but he had heard her loud and clear and his heart was pounding like mad as he looked at her wide eyed. There it was. Andromeda Wallace, the blonde bombshell, the girl who dated or at least slept with the likes of Finn Turner, Petros Hayes, etc. But here she was in front of a computer hacker, a nerd, in the cold rain, telling him she liked him. She really liked him. Donny blinked and took a deep breath, nodding slightly as he looked away to the side for a moment. He didn't know what to say. For the first time in a long time, his voice failed him and so he didn't speak. He took a moment before he looked back at her to see her eyes matching his sight. And then he did something very un-Donny. As she began to say something, instead of listening he stepped closer to her and in the same swift motion put his hands on her cheeks and leaned down, kissing her.
------------ HE KISSED HER. HE KISED HER LIKE HE HAD NEVER kissed another girl in his life. As he did so, he dropped his hands and wrapped his arms around her waste, holding her close to him as his lips stayed locked with hers. And all of a sudden, he felt the rain. He felt her lips and the rain, and all he heard was that down pour and his heart beating. Time stopped in that moment. And instead of pulling away as their lips finally parted he kept his arms around her, looking her in the eyes. He gave a slightly nervous chuckle, "Guess I'm not the only one with secrets." He commented softly. Part of him still nervous she would pull away from his arms and slap him across the face, tell him she was kidding and call him pathetic. But deep down, he knew that wasn't going to happen. Deep down, he knew, everything had just changed.

( ANDIE AINSLEY WALLACE )HITTEN APARTMENT BUILDING, JUNE 24, 2007, EARLY EVENINGbut our guards are down, defenseless, and our walls have cracked, so my heart is beating faster than a heart attack, kiss the way we were goodbye. . . . . . . it was kind of funny how much things changed simply throughout the course of a life. andie had gone from being the little girl running around annoying the customers at the local little restaurant her father had often dumped her at, to the lonely preteen with hardly any friends, searching desperately for some indication suggesting that her father didn't think she was a complete waste of space after all. and then she had become the well developed young teenager doing boys' chores and feeling almost high because of the way the local guys started looking at her. and yeah, now here she was, in the united states of america, soaking wet, standing in the parking lot of the hitten apartment building, almost crying, in front of donny davis. at pretty much any other point in her entire existence before she had departed greece's sunny shores, had she been told that this was where she would be soon enough, she would have fixed whoever had shared the information with her with a very odd look. who the hell would have guessed that she would have wound up in america? who the hell would have guessed that the cute little girl growing up in a small fishing town in greece would have grown up into... this? a blonde bombshell with some rather intense self esteem issues. that "who would have known" question had undoubtedly been asked a countless amount of times about a countless amount of things throughout history. like when the titanic sank, or when that one guy from that one movie - andie was blanking on names - was a total nark.
it seemed quite apparent that life didn't really play by any rules. or, if it did, they were pretty sucky ones. so many unspeakable things happened to people every single moment of every single day, things of such a horrific caliber that most people couldn't even begin to fathom living through them. so, really, andie sort of hoped that life had no official rules it followed, because otherwise the obvious conclusion left to arrive at would be that there was some sort of very sick, very twisted, manic force running things. and that thought was obviously far from comforting, but most of the time it did seem like the most plausible one. because andie really wasn't sure how she felt about the whole concept of god. though she had grown up in a small town with traditional values, her father had kept far away from all things pertaining to church, despite holding on to some mild claims of being greek orthodox, so she had not been raised very religiously. in her days of childhood and helping out around the local little restaurant that had basically served as her day care center, one of the workers, the same one who had originally taught her english, would sometimes read to her out of the bible, but all the stories had seemed strange and distant, and that god character had seemed rather unpleasant. he was full of wrath and always smiting people and turning them into salt... andie really didn't see why so many people were so head over heels for him. however, she had heard a lot about how god supposedly worked in mysterious ways, which did add a bit to the credibility to the concept of his existence, seeing as life was very often one big and weird mess. though if he was supposed to be so merciful and love everyone so much, the fact that unimaginable amounts of suffering went on in the world daily didn't really seem to compute.
even some of the stuff that had gone on in her own life. she had been born to a dead mother and a father who had never wanted her, who had never loved her. couldn't she have at least been able to have a mother at all? andie had spent a good deal of her childhood wishing fervently for her mother to have never died, for her to somehow be able to come back again, because, even if she was actually unlovable, didn't children have rights to have both of their parents? it didn't seem fair that she had been robbed of that right. it didn't seem fair that she was so stupid when other people were so smart. it didn't seem fair that the only guy she had ever truly fallen for was someone who put very little value on her outward appearance and therefore couldn't ever like her for much.
and it really, really didn't seem fair that donny had followed her out into the parking lot and was making her stand static in the pouring rain, trying to get her to spit out how she felt about him. why, why, why was he making her do this? why couldn't he just let her go home and try to avoid every seeing him again until her goddamned, traitoreous feelings did something useful and went away? really. not fucking fair. it was truly a wonder that she had been able to make the words come out at all, because pretty much every single fiber of her being had been screaming for her to just shut her mouth, find a way past him - resorting to force if necessary; she was pretty sure she could take him - and just get the fuck out of there. she simply stood there for a moment after the accursed words had finally stopped just being thoughts in her head and taken on a verbal form, gazing at the rain soaked pavement, raindrops falling onto her eyelashes and mixing with the tears she was still desperately trying to beat back. however, she then cleared her throat and attempted to voice her intentions on just leaving and proposing that they just forget all of this. "but i think th - " however, she was promptly interrupted, because he was kissing her. her mind was temporarily wiped completely blank. what the fuck, what the fuck...? after a moment or so, however, her thoughts were once again capable of being something other than that three word phrase, and his hands moved down and her wrapped his arms around her waist. her arms flew out slightly to her sides, a little involuntary movement caused by the shock, and she dropped her purse onto the wet pavement. but she was far from giving a flying fuck about that at the moment, because this was actually happening. she was standing here, kissing donny davis in the pouring rain.
she threw her arms around his neck, her thoughts, previously nothing but a chorus of "what the fuck" were now a swirl of excitement and happiness and simply astoundment at how this was happening. she had heard a couple of times from various sources that in one lifetime, there was one kiss that was just... the kiss. and andie was quite sure that this one was it; a statement not to be taken lightly because, believe you me, andie had plenty of experience in kissing guys. he broke the kiss but didn't remove his arms from where they were stationed around her waist, which she was happy for, because it just felt right. "guess i'm not the only one with secrets." she bit down on her lip and looked up through her lashes at him almost apprehensively, though she couldn't help but grin. "this is really happening?" she asked, struck momentarily ignorant of the cold and the rain and of how sopping wet the two of them were.
