PERSONAL STYLE: the clothes luca wears in an everyday basis are quite plain. jeans, maybe a layered shirt and a jacket and he's good to go. however, when he's on official mob business, such as a meeting, he'll wear a suit. he's actually his father's son, because if you saw both of them getting out of a car, suits on, sunglasses on, walking into a building, well, you can't help but feel a little scared. his dad and uncle are teaching him everything they know. other than business and family gatherings, he wears normal things. when he wants to break someone's knees with a baseball bat because they didn't pay, he'll where what normal people do, because he likes to blend in when possible.

WORST MEMORY: luca is very close to his hardly younger cousin, violet. he definitely looks out for her and her son, who is also his godchild. so whenever he thinks of something bad that happened to him, the day violet told him what happened in the basements sticks out as the worst. now, he is the only one that knows to date all the details of what happened down there when violetta was kidnapped. sure everyone knows what happened, obviously, but they didn't know how it happened, what it was like down there. violet shared these details with luca, and he'll never forget it. he's never told anyone and he's not like that. yeah sure, he's dangerous and does some not so legal things, but rape? he truly things the lowest of criminals like that.
OVERALL PERSONALITY: luca is very serious and determined. he takes his life extremely seriously because he knows it could end at any possible second. he's never been that much of a joker, so he has a dry sense of humor. luc's a good listener and takes directions well. anyways, it's not like anyone in the mob can be joking around and being uncareful. he views his uncle both as an uncle and as a boss. even if he is the 'mob leader's nephew' he doesn't get any special treatment, he wants to impress everyone so much that it's taken a toll on his health, his stress, and attitude. but, this is one thing luca is really good at; working under pressure. well, he'd have to with what he goes through everyday. he never cracks or caves in under the pressure, he probably works better since his mindset is in a whole other mindframe.
simple and plain, luca is cocky. he believes he can do it all. he's a very over confident young man. even if he can't, he'll pretend he does do it all. he's always been like this since he was growing up in italy. he'll say because he's one of the older cousins. maybe that is true, but upon starting to work for his uncle at eighteen, he just felt a little more important than ever before. with three successful jobs he completed with little to no problems, fausto was pleased his nephew was all for this. fausto paced luca though, he didn't want luca crashing and burning out quickly. but luc? he was always hungry for more and sitting here at twenty-one, he's been getting more responsibilities and more important jobs, and wouldn't you be getting confident that you were one unstoppable force?
luca is also very isolated though. he works alone more than half the time. he doesn't share his feelings, so he closes himself off a lot. like any giovanni soldier, it's hard having a relationship with him because he won't tell you where he's going and he won't explain the big gash on his arm. don't get him wrong, he likes the female companionship, but it's hard for him to be in a relationship since right now in his career, he has to be in a million places at once.

LIVING SITUATION: loft in valkyrie, gio mansion in los angeles
HISTORY: santino giovanni is not the oldest giovanni, nor the youngest. he falls somewhere in the middle, but it's still all the same for him. being the middle child, he often was caught in the middle of common fights with his siblings growing up. when he was twenty, he was introduced to mona wellington by his mother. they started dating, and within two years, they had a big family wedding celebration in naples, italy, the giovannis' homebase. another year gone by and mona gave birth to luca. they were young, but that was sort of the the family motto; marry young, start a family young. another year gone by and mona was starting to get homesick, because she was from liverpool, england. she hadn't been there in over four years and she missed her family. though the giovannis' wanted santino to move to los angeles to help the mob, he wanted to first concentrate on his family, so santino, mona, and luca moved to liverpool.
for the next fourteen years, luca was raised in england. he grew into the giovanni trademark looks - dark hair, even darker eyes, a hint of mystery in their gaze. he knew early on that his family was 'the' giovannis of italy and los angeles. he was pretty neutral about it, he was young too. it didn't affect him since he was in england. but he knew he would stand by and support his family no matter what - it was just how he was raised. when he was eleven, they did visit los angeles for his grandfather's funeral. fausto tried to convince santino to move to los angeles now, but santino said he still had to square some things away in liverpool, and mona still wanted to stay there. it was hard for santino since he is such a people-pleaser, when he can't please everyone, he gets upset. fausto gave him three years to tie up loose ends in liverpool and have luca and mona move to los angeles.
luca attended a boarding school in england. it was one of the stereotypical england boarding schools. he flourished academically, but photography was something he quickly became passionate about. still life, people, he did everything and anything. when he was thirteen he received his first camera, boy did that kid run through so much film. i wouldn't say he was overly talented in all things art, but he sure had an eye for things to capture. luc had dreams of having his own studio to take pictures and just live a carefree life. though his growing fascination with his family's history made him put his passion and his destiny in perspective. he wanted to take pictures, but he also wanted to join the family business.
not a day after the three year anniversary of fausto telling santino, they moved to los angeles. into the big mansion that housed many of the giovannis and their off spring. though a lot of his cousins he never really knew, it didn't take long for him to become close to. specifically, fausto's kids (alberto, paolo, angelica, and constantino) and vito's daughter, violetta. they were all generally in the same age range, which caused them always walking to school together. oh the giovanni children. somehow, they were like the unattainable, good looking kids in the school. the kind where you never saw one without another one close behind. they all had other friends, but they just preferred to be together, since they were constantly dodging rumors and hiding secrets, it was just easier to hang out with each other. violetta and him could have been considered brother and sister since out of them all - they were the closest, both sharing a love for art. though they were a year apart, they were in the same grade. he wasn't even in los angeles for a year when violet came to him and told him she was pregnant, and what happened to her in the basement when she was kidnapped. he was so surprised, he didn't even know what to do, but he was able to convince her to tell her parents. violet later told him that he was the only one that knew what fully happened down there, and to this day, he has kept the secret.
after violetta gave birth to rocco, the giovanni school days weren't the same. fausto's kids and wife moved to valkyrie, violet decided to be home schooled, and alberto graduated, leaving luca to be pretty much friendless. he started hanging around a rougher crowd, which was easy to be accepted into with his last name. however, that was short lived when santino and fausto discovered luca hung with the 'bottom feeders.' luca stuck it out with school, he graduated a year early so at seventeen, he didn't really have anything to do. he couldn't become a real gio yet so he decided to travel back to his hometown of naples, italy and visited a lot of his family that never moved to america. it was a great experience for him as he sort of back-packed around italy and it's surrounding countries with some of his other cousins. he always sent post cards back to los angeles and the occasional trinket back to rocco. once luca's eighteenth birthday came around, he travelled back to los angeles to start his training.
he never got special treatment, he had to start out just like everyone else did but he slowly moved on up in the ranks. with a pleased father and a happy uncle, he got an ego-boost and really started getting into his element. photography would also be his passion, but this? this was going to be his job. now at twenty-one, luca has rather a big set of responsibilities. fausto always likes keeping it in the family, and he does really trust his nephew with big jobs or tasks because he knows luca will do it. so far, luca has travelled all around the globe on certain tasks. mostly new york and europe, with the occasional africa because yes, the gios have some business going on down there.
fausto has entrusted both luca and alberto jr. to train his middle son, paolo into the family life and as of right now, luca has been dividing his time between los angeles and valkyrie. fausto has been planning to get more business going in valkyrie with underground gambling rings, horse races, prostitution, and racketeering. he appointed luca to oversee a lot of what is going on in valkyrie and what they can do to get more money. luca has become a collector in valkyrie. he's been at this for several months now some people downtown know exactly who he is and what he's capable of. he comes by on fridays to collect the money people lost while betting. he don't want him visiting you on saturdays. he hates people who can't pay up on the designated day. when he's not busting knee-caps, luca has his own loft in valkyrie which serves an art studio as well. it has become his home away from home because for a couple hours he can just relax and paint or take pictures and not worry about certain things, which he has been doing a lot of lately.
