CHARACTER BASICS ,
you missed when time and life shook hands and said goodbye
FULL NAME: Ana Isabel Katarina Bailey
NICKNAMES: Anabel, Annie
GENDER: Female
AGE: Twenty
UNIVERSITY YEAR: Junior
MAJOR: TESOL
MINOR: Psychology
JOB: none
PLAYBY: Avril Lavigne
YOUR BODY MAY BE GONE ,
CHARACTER APPEARANCE ,
i'm gonna carry you in my head, in my heart, in my soul
ETHNICITY: Spanish-American (presumably Irish)
HAIR COLOR: Blond
EYE COLOR: Blue
HEIGHT: 5 foot 2 1/4 inches
WEIGHT: 106 pounds
BODY TYPE: Slim
DISTINGUISHED FEATURES: Ana has been inked, seven times total. Her first was a big black star on her left inner wrist that she got when she was seventeen. She got a black star outline on left hip next, followed by a small blue star on her outter left calf. Then came a tiny reddish star on her right outter forearm and not long after a little blue star on her inner right forearm. She considered stopping at six with a blue star on her right shoulderblade, but ended up getting a seventh. Eight months into her relationship with Jason she got a black J with a pink heart surrounding it on her outter right wrist.
As far as piercings, Ana has two piercings in her left earlobe, one in her right, and a navel piercing that most people won't see unless they run into her at the beach. At one point she had her nose pierced, but her mother made her take it out and now there's just a tiny dot that can't be seen when she has her make-up on in its place.
PERSONAL STYLE: Ana has a very feminine taste in her clothing to match her rather girlie personality. She has an excessive fondness for high heels of no less than four inches to enhance her petite figure, but on her lazier days she prefers a nice pair of sandals. Like her fiancé, she wears skinny jeans almost exclusively and switches to rather short shorts on the warmer California days. With this she wears tank tops or tee shirts, often form-fitting, with a nice hoodie when necessary. Her eyeliner is always heavy, but otherwise her make-up is usually rather calm, aside from the occasional fire engine red lipstick. Her jewelry is typically silver and in a heart or star shape, though she owns a lot of other pieces she enjoys wearing as well. Regardless of her other accessories she won't be caught without the rather impressive rock on her left ring finger. She occasionally dyes a strand of her blond hair hot pink, only with temporary dye so she doesn't have to commit to it. Occasionally she straightens it, especially when it is frizzy, but often she leaves it somewhat messy, in a rather sexy way. On her especially lazy days she can be seen in a pair of blackish purple plastic framed glasses, but there aren't many of those.
OTHER: Annie has a bit of a thing for sexy lingerie, but only her fiancé ever sees that.
IN YOUR MOUTH, IN YOUR SOUL ,
CHARACTER PERSONALITY ,
the more we move ahead the more we're stuck in rewind
STRENGTHS: unreserved, able to hide her every emotion, virtually fearless, in no way naïve, excessively confident, practical, knows how to get her way, big hearted, independent
WEAKNESSES: can be a bit harsh with people, says exactly what she is thinking and not always in a good way, judges on appearance, complete sucker for chivalry and romance, tends to hold grudges, blames everything on herself, holds all her emotions in until she snaps, can't bring herself to express weakness, chest hair and Jason in doctor clothes sort of make her melt
LIKES: Her fiancé would be number one on this list most definitely. She loves being with him, even if they're not doing anything special. She's especially fond of cuddling with him though. She likes the rain and the sunshine; they are polar opposites but they both make her happy. She enjoys sunbathing with tons of sunscreen so her porcelain skin doesn't burn. Though she never has lived in a place where it snows she has an obsession with it. She's really very fond of vacations, the trip she took this summer to New York among her favorites along with her senior trip to LA with her mom. In general she just plain loves to travel and is really looking forward to her honeymoon to Mallorca, Spain this spring. She adores her dog. He's a harlequin great dane named Dozer and she thinks he's just awesome, despite his sometimes troublesome behavior. In general though the tiny woman just plain loves big dogs. She always has a camera out and she regards shoe shopping as the best therapy there is. Christmas is her favorite holiday and she loves to cook so big holidays like that with her mean a lot of food. Eating is among Ana's more favorite things to do, probably why she is no longer under a hundred pounds. Oh yes, and she loves star gazing. She always has, but now especially it brings back a really great memory.
DISLIKES: Ana can't stand getting in trouble. She gets really embarrassed, even if it's just something little. She's more of a goody two shoes than she looks. Ana is also rather unfond of headbands; the way they squeeze her head the main reason for this. She finds chunky jewelry really ugly. She doesn't get why people wear it. Though she frequently puts a pink streak in her hair she hates hair dye, the smell, the feel of it, and the general messiness. She can't stand fighting with people. She always ends up feeling guilty, even if she really didn't do anything. Though she isn't above a manicure, fingernail polish is on her list of gross things, for pretty much the same reasons as hair dye. She hates pants that make noise when she moves; it's just irritating. One of her biggest pet peaves is having things whispered in her ear. She has her fiancé well-trained to murmur whatever he has to say. That tickly feeling just ruins the mood and even if it's just something from a friend she shivers. She's not one to kiss in public, though she has no opposition to slipping her hand in her boyfriend's pocket or holding hands. A peck or a kiss on the cheek she is fine with, but actually kissing she finds rude and she doesn't really want someone else to see her with her tongue in Jason's mouth anyway. And on the topic of kissing, she has a real aversion to razor stubble. Having her face rubbed raw she obviously finds unenjoyable.
FLAWS: Anabel is a very vain girl that puts quite a bit of time into her appearance, maybe too much. She also has a tendency to come off as seductive without really meaning to, especially when she is trying to get something she wants and would be called by some manipulative.
HABITS: Annie tends to tap her nails when she is bored. Her eyes roll without her thinking about it when she considers something stupid. As far as just general habits she tends to play with a strand of her hair and shrug rather frequently.
SECRETS: Ana doesn't really talk about Jason's infidelity at all. She prefers to just keep it between the and the few people that have found out the real reason for their split. Her main reasoning is just to protect him; she knows people can hold grudges and she'd just as well let people think what they want about their break-up, even if it means they think she was the cause. Something else she never intentionally shares is what her dad did to her mom. When she was thirteen he told her mother that he'd been sleeping with prostitutes for a while and that ended their marriage. It really hurt Anabel on a deep level and she keeps it in. Even Jason didn't know until she accidentally blurted it at her mother in front of him a couple months after they'd broken things off. Also she keeps the one night stand she had after she and Jason were officially over to herself, though she's explained it to her fiancé. Lastly, she doesn't exactly go around proclaiming that she was a complete slut in high school or that she lost her virginity when she was fourteen.
BEST MEMORY: The night Jason proposed to her officially Annie would have to say is her best memory. It was a complete surprise to her as he'd done it on a trip to see his parents in New York and they'd just been cuddling after dinner with his parents when he started saying all this weird stuff that didn't make a lot of sense to her. But the moment she saw the beslendid little platinum ring that she had during their break-up twice refused to take it had to be simply the best moment of her life.
WORST MEMORY: Though quite a few memories could vie for this position, Ana would have to admit that the worst was the night her father admitted his infidelity to her mom. It hurt when she faced it herself seven years later, but seeing the person that at the time meant the most to her racked to tears while her father tossed things into boxes before storming out of their little house hurt so much worse, to the point the girl seemed intent on ruining her life throughout high school.
OVERALL PERSONALITY: The first thing anyone will notice about Anabel is her excessively friendly demeanor. She could almost be compared to a Golden Retriever, never afraid to say hi or meet someone new. Part of this would have to come from living in the deep south for thirteen years where not saying hello makes a person look like a rude fool. The rest though has only come since college when she stopped dying parts of her hair black and letting half of Valkyrie get in her pants. Annie sort of has a way of instantly making you her best friend, giving her a rather large circle of friends, though only a few she regards as her close friends. Perhaps the greatest testament to just how friendly she can be comes from the story of how she met her now fiancé. Within five minutes she'd asked him out.
The girl can be quite the chatterbox once she does know you, or frankly, even if she doesn't. Which isn't to say she randomly accosts strangers, but she can hold a conversation with a cashier at the grocery store. Especially though when she's around her closer friends there can be times when it seems like she will never shut up. Even during movies she keeps a running commentary of often smark alec dry humor comments and if her fiancé can be believed she talks in her sleep as well. For all her conversing though it is, admittedly, rather trivial topics she discusses, generally something or another about John and Kate or what will happen to Nicki on the next season of Big Love. She can be kind of funny in her own way though and can get a laugh out of most anyone with a decent sense of humor without even meaning to be particularly witty.
One of the things that will either make someone love or hate her is her vanity and rather vocal conceitedness when it comes to her appearance. She puts quite a bit of time into how she looks, from her clothes to her make-up and everything in between. She keeps with the styles, evident by her rather large collection of girlie magazines, though without losing her own unique taste. Because of the amount of effort she puts into her appearance she naturally expects others to do the same and doesn't have a lot of respect for people that don't take the time. But in general Annie knows she is hot, even without make-up and in a pair of sweats. To her, that is just fact, and she isn't ashamed to take compliments on it, often responding with something other than just a mere "thank you." She doesn't see any point in putting herself down and while some might call that stuck up, she merely considers in confidence.
The last major part of Miss Anabel is her passionate and romantic nature. This she undoubtedly gets from her mother's hot Spanish blood. She can be very passionate about everything, especially her goals in life. Though it might not seem it by her apathetic attitude toward school she genuinely does care about her future career because of things in her own life. She also cares a lot about her upcoming wedding and the family she one day hopes to have. As far as the other ways in which Ana is passionate... well, you'll just have to ask Jason about that. On that similar topic she can be a bit of a romantic at times. She's only been in love once, but she makes her love known and tends to do a lot of sweet things for him. Often though, her fiancé is the same way and she is a complete sucker for a few sweet words and a spontaneous bouquet of flowers. She now very much believes in true love and the existance of soul mates, despite her once very cynical view of such sentimental things.

CHARACTER HISTORY ,
well i don't know, i don't know, i don't know, i hope so
HOMETOWN: Morgan City, Louisiana
PARENTS: Isaac Avery Bailey (deceased) and Mariana Francisca VillalobosBaileyNarvaez (forty years old, works at her lover's restaurant, Los Vasqueros Grandes)
SIBLINGS: none
OTHER: She considers her mother's lover, Eligio Alberto Quirós Aquino (forty-four years old, owner of Los Vasqueros Grandes), to be her step-father, though Eligio and Mariana are not married and have no intentions of becoming anything more than friends with benefits.
LIVING SITUATION: Valks
HISTORY: Anabel's story begins with a young recently heartbroken young man and a young Spanish vixen. Her father, Isaac Bailey, had just recently broken things off with his fiancé when he met the lovely Mariana Villalobos Narvaez at Louisiana State University. The two met in Spanish class and just plain had chemistry, fast becoming more than just friends with the intelligent Isaac easily bored with basic Spanish and the fluent Mariana finding the class a complete joke. They remained a couple throughout college, eloping with their familys' blessing two years later. On their first anniversary Hurricane Jerry hit and stuck in their apartment with nothing but candles for light and only the wind and rain outside the window to watch they chose to celebrate the day on the air mattress in their living room, neglecting protection in the spontanaity of the moment.
On precisely her due date nine months later, a blond haired blue eyed baby girl was born to the couple. They named her Ana for her mother and chose the Spanish middle name Isabel to celebrate Mariana's proud Spanish heritage. The Katarina was merely Isaac's choice for a middle name that they gave her as well. Though Isaac had graduated that spring from LSU, his wife was a year behind him and Mariana was forced to forfeit her education to care for the little girl she came to call Anabel, a combination of her first and middle names.
Her childhood was relatively uneventful. The family had moved to Isaac's boyhood home in Morgan City, Louisiana shortly before Ana was born, settling into a small apartment in the small riverside town. Mr. Bailey found a job teaching Spanish at the local high school while Mariana whose hopes of any real career were dashed settled into the role of housewife and mother to her baby girl. Because of Mariana's aversion to English, a language she still struggles to speak in properly, she spoke to her daughter in almost all Spanish. She learned English only from watching Sesame Street daily, however her mother's thick Spanish accent lingered in her voice. When she began school it was obvious that though she looked like everyone else she was different and instantly she became the object of teasing.
By the time she was thirteen though she had lost her accent and had been adopted by the more popular kids in her middle school. She was fitting in, accepted, and things were in all honesty going really well for her, until the night her father announced he was taking the family clear across the country to Valkyrie, California. Ana never knew why they moved and still doesn't know, only that the move ruined things for her. Her father found work at Valkyrie Academy giving his daughter the opportunity to attend the school, but before high school ever began for her, less than six months after their move, her father came out about having slept with prostitutes for the past year, ending her parents' marriage.
That was when things got messy for Anabel. With her father gone it left just Ana and her jobless mother who fast had to pick up a job as a secretary as well as washing dishes for a new friend of hers, Eligio Quirós Aquino. Disillusioned and without any real guidance from her semi-absent parents her teen years became an experiment in mistakes. Though she had for years drank wine as is simply went better with Spanish cooking and was not perceived by her mother as "drinking," Ana turned to drinking for the sake of blocking out the pain of her disinterested father when forced to spend the weekends with him. It was fine for a while, in and of itself the drinking wasn't really harming her, at least until she got pulled into the lie of sex. In her alcohol flooded brain it made her feel special, a feeling she'd lost when her dad had traded his wife and his daughter for cheap prostitutes and beer. She just never felt special enough and so she kept giving herself away to anyone that wanted her. Looking back, she loathes herself for it.
She didn't lift from the pattern until she turned eighteen, the summer before she began college. From that point on she neither saw nor spoke to her father and it made things easier for her, not dwelling on his crap or being stuck with him every weekend. A different Annie began to emerge after that. She stopped sleeping around and began to really pay attention to her studies. This wasn't to say things were perfect for her; college was a stressful adjustment that led her to pick up smoking and as a cheerleader she still occasionally went to parties, but overall she had changed and the real Annie had come out of it.
One evening, early in her sophomore year, when she found her dorm room too cold and the only hoodie she'd brought with her to school was stained with tomato soup, she found herself, out of desperation so she could get back to studying, walking down to the school bookstore to buy one of their overpriced sweatshirts. As she was pushing through the racks for a size small she looked up just in time to see a tall dark haired man trip over his own two feet and for some reason, it made her laugh like nothing else. "Chicks dig that," she'd teased him with one of her sweet toothy little smiles and only five minutes later she found herself asking him out for coffee and they just clicked. He was addictive, funny and sweet and she would have sat there all night if she hadn't realized it was already eleven after what felt like no time at all. From that point on she wanted a relationship with him, something she'd never desired with anyone before.
From there they kept seeing each other, pretty much exclusive a month or two after meeting. For Ana, love was in no way on her map. She had resolved when her mother's heart had been broken that she was not about to give in to the lie she saw love as. It was nearing Valentine's Day though and they were on their last date before the romantic holiday. They'd seen a movie, a romantic comedy she would guess, though Ana honestly doesn't really remember because they'd spent a good portion of the movie trying to keep their hands off each other only to get rather hot in the backseat of his car later before they'd broken it off. About an hour after he'd left she was sitting on her bed flipping through some flash cards when her phone started ringing. She nearly didn't answer it but after a moment she did and her already pale face lost all color at what the nurse of the end of the line explained to her. The words critical condition scared her and as she found herself sitting in the waiting room with absolutely no way of knowing if he was going to be ok she realized she definitely did love him, despite herself and she completely lost it when she saw him after his surgery, sobbing into his chest for what felt like forever. After that she was with him every day he was in the hospital and moved in with him after he was released. She had to do everything for him once they were on their own, from cooking for him to helping him bathe. Even after he was better she just sort of stuck around. Her quad mates had found a replacement for her and they had gotten closer living together. She didn't really want to be anywhere else at that point.
Everything was good for a while between them, but slowly Ana found herself cracking under the pressure of dealing with his behavior since the wreck. She'd expected him to be affected mentally, but she had expected it to get better, and yet when it didn't she began to get worried. She'd wake up in the middle of the night to find him tossing and turning and once even kicking out and hitting her. She tried to avoid the issue, until it reached the point that he pulled away from her touch and she didn't feel she could avoid it any longer. What started rather simply though escalated fast and when he decided he'd be best just to sleep in a seperate bed from her it seemed clear in Ana's mind that they needed to take a break, no matter how badly it hurt. She had never meant that break though to be an end.
When she went to talk to him a few days later, ready to talk it over and consider not making their break so complete, she finally realized the pain her mother had felt with her father, only worse as she'd been forced to see it with her own two eyes. Instantly she broke down with a slow moan, falling to the floor unable to stand. He tried to apologize but she didn't care at that point, she just wanted to get out of that house that she'd once called home. She refused the ring he'd tried to give her, it meant nothing anymore. All she wanted to do was curl up and just die. Before she could leave though she made one last offer to take him to get his wrist fixed, but when he refused she left for the final time.
Not long after she screwed up and had a one night stand that in no way made her pain any less. The next two months of their seperation were pure misery for her that didn't ease until she ran into him at a back-to-school beach bash. Unintentionally she put her towel next to his and though she hated herself for it she couldn't bring herself to move even after she realized he was sitting next to her. As they slowly began to talk again she realized just how badly she had missed him. From there things got a bit better between them and though Annie still swore she could never love him again she was willing to be his friend. A few weeks after the beach bash he had come over to take her apartment hunting, after she'd mentioned the drug dealers outside her window to him a few nights before. Just as they were getting ready to leave her mother called to let her know that her father had died that morning. After turning to him as she had many times in the past for emotional support she accepted his offer to take her to her mom's and it was there that he learned why his cheating had affected her much more deeply than if that had never happened to her before.
Holding her mother as she cried in vain regret over never doing anything to save her marriage changed Ana; she didn't want to be that same way if something were to happen to Jason. When they headed back to her place she opened the conversation up, stepping carefully onto the minefield and making sure it was what she wanted before asking him to give starting over a try. Around six weeks after that, while on a trip to meet his family and friends in New York he asked her, officially, to marry him and she gave him a very definite yes.

with a humored look when he sarcastically asked if he'd mentioned the beds and she nodded, "You did." She smiled as he looped a long arm about her thin shoulders with a laugh and dipped his head, knowing something enticing was about to come from his lips by how close he had lowered himself. A light blush rose up her neck and a silly giggle escaped her at his words, "Oh, you mean like watching tv and stuff," she responded innocently, winking at him. It wasn't the answer he had expected, she was sure. She brushed a lock of straight blond hair from her eyes as he gave her a less taunting answer, laughing at the image. She couldn't say she was surprised though; he was just that way, an even bigger kid than she was. She grinned at him when he said he hadn't gotten any stitches, having been about to ask about that. "Maybe we'll have to test both when we get back to the room," she tempted with a little smirk of her own. She didn't like to plan that kind of thing so she hadn't really meditated on how she'd feel about taking that step, but if it felt right then she wasn't going to stop it from happening. The chance wasn't really going to come up much once they were back in school and she was back to living in her apartment.
ANABEL SNICKERED WHEN HE REMARKED IT WAS
only the shoes she loved. She shrugged a bit, looking back at him as she picked the dainty shoe boots up with a fond look, "You're right," she said, pulling out a pair of size sevens and sitting down on a little bench to try them on, "It is." Slipping her left converse and sock off, replacing the sock with a little footie, she slid the shoe onto her dainty little foot. She sighed dreamily, teasing him as she gazed adoringly at the shoe and said the words she would only ever seriously say to him, "'Till death do us part." She giggled at his response and pulled the shoe off, setting it carefully in its box before gravitating toward another pair that caught her eye, sure she was in heaven.
THE BLOND STARTED A BIT AT THE YOUNG MAN
that appeared before them, stopping them in their tracks. She gazed at the red, white, and blue piece of latex as he turned his attention on her, tossing out catchy little slogans. This was quite the city, wasn't it? You'd certainly never see this kind of thing in Utah. She personally didn't really care that he called her baby, she was used to hearing it from guys that thought she was easy, but she could tell Jason did care as he put his strong arm around her waist. She didn't blame him for it, she could be just as possessive; it visibly annoyed her when anyone else called him Jay. Her eyes widened at Jason's words and she just smiled at the man as her boyfriend led her away. She burst into laughter once they were far enough from the vendor, glancing up at him with silent curiosity as they weaved through the crowds. Trying to start a family? She found it interesting that was the excuse he picked to get out of that situation, though she knew he hadn't meant it. At least she hoped not. Shrugging, she set her head on his shoulder reassuringly in hopes of unfurrowing his perturbed bushy eyebrows. The man was just doing his job; it had meant nothing to either of them. If he didn't want guys saying those sort of things to his girl he should have picked a less attractive woman to date.
HANDING THE PAIR OF YELLOW PANTS TO HIM, SHE
rolled her eyes. "Only 'cause I feel bad for throwing the old ones away," she said before telling him to go try them on. She walked a bit slower behind him, shaking her head and mumbling to herself, "Which isn't to say that won't happen to these." No, she wasn't fond of them, but he liked them and that was what mattered. She was past her trivial hatred and she didn't want to be one of those pushy obnoxious wives that wouldn't let him do things he wanted to. Leaning against the wall next to the door he'd disappeared behind, she waited for him to come out. A single eyebrow rose when he stepped out, rolling her eyes when he said they fit nicely. "Oh they fit nicely alright," she replied sarcastically, staring at the skin-tight fit of them. And he wondered why she'd never wanted to be just friends. Not that she could say much since most of her jeans were skinnies, too. She snorted when he said he was going to get a pair in purple as well, "Just don't wear those when you want to get laid," she advised as she followed him back to the colorful piles of jeans, counting her blessings that he didn't reach for the hot pink ones.
ANNIE LAUGHED AS HE TOOK HER BAGS, NODDING
her head when he said they were going to need an extra suitcase. In addition to the four pairs of shoes she'd gotten earlier she had since added a light pink silk tiered dress, a super soft sweater, jeans, and a purse. She stared as they walked by what had to be the biggest toy store she'd ever seen, laughing as he pulled her inside with quite a bit of enthusiasm. Her eyes widened to see a ferris wheel of toys in the middle of the entrance, grinning at his words and squeezing his hand, "Definitely." Joining the long line of people waiting she gazed around, staring at the life-size Barbie house and animatronic T-Rex. "This place is awesome," she said as she looked around at the kids there, thinking of how much cooler it would be if she were five and not twenty. Leaning against him a bit she smiled, deciding they would have to take their kids here someday.
