sweetheart » although he can have quite the temper at times, haldan is really all in all a big sweetie. he can be very caring and compassionate when he wants to be and is a great listener if you need someone. he is also trustworthy and honest and just a big sweetheart. i mean come on, look at him, his looks alone make him adorable! XD
outgoing » haldan is a talkative and confident guy. he isn't afraid to make new friends and talk to others no matter who they are. this also means he isn't afraid to speak his mind sometimes, which gets him in to trouble, and he isn't afraid to stick up for friends and himself. he likes to boost other people's confidence too.
humorous » he can actually be quite the comedian. it's usually best when he doesn't even try, but he uses this skill to help someone that may be down in the dumps. he hates to see others depressed and does what he can to change that.

HISTORY: There was nothing special about Haldan's birth. It was just normal. No complications, nothing intense where the mother's water breaks just out of nowhere they have to call a taxi and she ends up having the baby in the back of some random taxicab on the way to the hospital. He was born in some little hospital in Phoenix, weighing seven pounds, and twenty inches long. He was born on August 12 at nine o' clock in the morning, on the dot. That was all there was to it. Haldan James Gregory was born.
He was a very happy and amusing baby. Always giggling and bouncing around when he could, holding his parents' attention for hours on end. At the age of four, his mother took him to his first day of preschool, which he loved. He made friends easily, and absolutely loved being able to get away from home at such a young age. Soon, kindergarten came and left just as quickly as it had started and he grew through the years, forming into the person he was going to grow up to be each and every day. Finally at age six he pleaded for his daddy to teach him how to ride a two-wheeler because he hated stupid training wheels because they slowed him down. His father agreed to help him and immediately Haldan grabbed his nearest hand and dragged him out to the garage and handed him his toolbox so he could pop off those training wheels. His dad just laughed, taking the toolbox so he could begin twisting off the training wheels. Once Haldan was suited up in his helmet, knee pads, and elbow pads, his dad wheeled his bike out and Haldan hopped up onto the seat, a smile planted on his face, his eyes bright with joy and curiosity. 'Are you ready?' Dad had asked him and he nodded. After getting going, falling off and getting a few scrapes, he tried again, and at long last, took off, leaving his father behind.
He was at home with his aunt who was up for Christmas and sister when he heard the horrible news. He was only eight years old when the tragic death of both his parents occurred. They were driving home two days before Christmas doing some late, last minute shopping. It was rainy and storming, and just terrible weather out. The roads were slippery and it was dark out. They were coming up to an intersection, their light reading green, telling them to go. Even though they were cautious, it didn't stop the semi-truck from smashing into them. The semi tried to stop, but road was just to slippery and it had started hydroplanning and caused the horrific incident to happen. There were no survivors.
Aunt Trisha stayed with the children until after the funeral, where she took them home to Valkyrie, a town just outside of Los Angeles, where she lived. At the time, Haldan didn't understand, for goodness sake he was only eight years old! In his mind they were just sleeping or it was all a big dream, a misunderstanding, anything that would bring his mom and dad back to him, but that never happened so he had to face the facts. He grew up and protected his sister as best he could, and took care of Trisha, Emma, and himself.
The first few years living with his aunt were hard on Haldan especially. He loved his mom and dad with all his heart and they just slip away out of his reach when he wasn't ready. That was why he felt so guilty about the accident. In his gut he felt guilty and depressed. He felt guilty not because he thought it was his fault that they died, but because he didn't get the chance to say good bye, to really say good bye and let them go. Although it wasn't like he really knew that his parents were going to be gone forever after that night. At first all he could think about was that night of their deaths, he even dreamt about it. He was quiet, never really spoke to anyone at school, or even at home. Trisha was scared, not sure if he was going to turn out okay. The boy didn't have any friends, just basically went to school, came home, did homework, ate, and went to bed.
When he was eleven, his aunt got a call from the school principal saying that Haldan got into a fight with some other boy. She rushed down; Haldan was never the violent type, a lot like his father in that way. He had one day of in school suspension, and after his aunt and the principal talked, she asked him why he got in to the fight in the first place, as she drove home. It took a while for him to speak up, but after a moment or two, he explained that they were talking about family, and when he had to share with the class that he didn't have a mother and father, the kid sitting in front of him snickered and made a rude comment and he just got mad so he punched the boy. His aunt talked about everything with him, and after that, Haldan seemed to brighten up a bit, revealing more and more of himself each and every day. Aunt Trisha was glad to see such a change in his behavior because it was beginning to have an effect on little Emma.
When he turned fifteen, he began going to Valkyrie Academy. At first he was a bit shy, nervous because of the change in routine and people. But over the years, he began opening up more and more, and was able to make friends easily. Sure there were days that didn't go so well, but he still tended to like the school all in all. It was a very good school and he was lucky to get in to it.

ROLEPLAY EXAMPLE:James couldn't believe that he had practically spent the whole day at the pier. He remembered arriving some time between three and four o' clock and it was now beginning to get darker outside and the entire pier was lit up. You could probably see the ferris wheel lights if you were on a boat coming in from the middle of the ocean. He was bored so that was why he had decided to come down and goof around at the pier, although he never imagined he would stay almost all day. He had gone on a few rides but they only hold your attention span so long when you're all alone without a buddy to ride with, considering most of the rides required two-seat carts and whatnot. James usually ended up getting stuck with either some chubby man that smelled like chili dogs or some young teenage girl that wouldn't stop staring at him. After those ones, he would sometimes feel like he was being stalked or watched her something. He also had to sit by a dude who looked him over and then smiled and nodded at him. That guy made him shiver and he definitely had to label him as a creeper. Not that he didn't like people just because of their sexual preferences because that was their choice not his and a person can't change that but he wasn't into guys looking him over. It was just creepy to a straight person.
So now after his long carnival-type day, he was sitting on an empty bench eating some blue cotton candy he had just bought because it was a snack he'd been craving. He was located some where in the middle of all the action going on on the pier, but a little closer to the entrance. He watched as families and couples, random people slowly began exiting as the time edged closer and closer to nine o' clock. Most of them were heading out to go snuggle in their beds and fall asleep with dreams in their heads but James was not sadly, although he wished he could. Having a sleeping disorder wasn't always fun, yet it does have its perks. For instance, you can drive around on empty streets, you can usually find the best twenty-four hour places to go to, all kinds of fun stuff you can do late at night rather than trying to fall asleep when you know for a fact that you can't. Lucky for James, he's been an insomniac for quite a while now so he was pretty good at finding ways to entertain himself without getting bored. He knew he was bound to be up late tonight so he planned on finishing up his cotton candy and then maybe walk around if the rides and stands started closing down before he finished. He figured that he'd probably finally fall asleep at five in the morning and possibly sleep till eight or nine maybe, but that was just a guess. There was also a possibility that he wouldn't get any sleep at all, even if he was tired. You see, once you get used to not sleeping until a certain time in the night/morning, it gets harder and harder to get to sleep in between that time frame. Most of the time he conked out at around five or six am, but there were some mornings that he wouldn't fall asleep at all. He's pretty good at getting some daily naps in though. Those are the times when his mind stops running. That's another reason why a person can't sleep; because you're mind keeps working and doesn't wanna shut down. It's like he's thinking of one thing and trying to get everything out of his head but then he's got something else crammed in there, it's like constant thoughts and trust me, it gets pretty annoying.
The twenty-year-old shredded big fuzzy pieces off of the fluffy and sugared snack and popped them into his mouth, feeling it all dissolve on his tongue. He thought that was so cool and felt weird. He stuck out his tongue and attempted to see if he could check to see if it had turned blue yet. He probably looked like an idiot, but he didn't care. If people wanted to think of him like that, then whatever. They had no clue who he was anyways and he didn't know them. As he extended his tongue out as far as it would go he looked down, trying to catch a glimpse. Yep, it was confirmed. His tongue was a tint of blue. He smiled as his tongue went back into his mouth. He thought it was cool, although, sitting there eating cotton candy and trying to see if his tongue had turned blue yet made him feel like a little kid again. But, he was an odd one that was for sure and he didn't mind that much because that was who he was.credit: format by lainey, lyrics by modest mouse
