REED LEE ,BACK HERE YOU NEVER LOST YOU SHAKE THE SHIVERS OFF YOU TAKE A DRINK TO GET YOUR COURAGE UP CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?----------------------------- ----AND THIS WAS WHAT SUCCESS felt like. it had been about a month since supposed screw-ups reed turner and seth malinda opened up 'bad seed.' appropriately named, the bar was not like the other ones in valkyrie. there were the strip clubs, the dance clubs, and the sports clubs. reed wanted to bring a coyote ugly bar to the city of valkyrie. he got this brilliant idea from when he and riley road tripped it back in april to nevada to see regan, their rehabbed little brother. on the way, reed made riley stop and they found this coyote ugly bar. then the dream settled in the then-eighteen year old's head. this was what he was going to to do to valkyrie. he was going to be a high school graduate going no where, and probably never was going to go beyond valkyrie's city limits. he was going to die a lifer, so he might as well make the most of it along the way. hence, bad seeds. and to his excitement, five months later bad seeds was busy every night.
reed always thought that nonsense was busy with a constant flow of people and bands playing on stage, but that was nothing compared to what bad seeds had every night. this was reed's full-time job. he wasn't enrolled in any school, and to his mother's dismay, he wasn't taking any classes at the community college. his father, was convinced this was going to fail and even scolded riley into signing the lease. 'don't give into your brother's stupid fantasies. you're better than that, riley.' were his exact words. the truth was, if this bar was to fail, reed had no back-up plan. he put his entire summer into this bar. what a wasted three months of his life if it was to not do well to the public. not to mention he would be right back where he started with being unemployed, unmotivated, and any other 'un' word. the first week of it's opening, it did very well. gained some popularity among locals as reed and seth worked out all the kinks in managing a bar.
then. they got really popular. by about the third week of opening, the popularity was unreal. college kids and adults flooded the high-energized bar where girls danced on the bar while serving alcohol. it was like the perfect combination of sex appeal and booze. but it wasn't even like it was only men that came in. though the bar was attracting a lot of men, bad seeds had it's fair share of women too that came in for drinks. one thing was for sure though. every night was like a new show at the bar. it opened it's doors at 7 pm and closed tentatively at 3 am. 'tentatively' because though that was their close time it took at least a half hour to an hour to get everyone out and another hour to clean up. though reed loved the adrenaline he got every night.
tonight was just like any other night. it was busy with everyone shouting, yelling, and singing with a song that was playing on the stereo. reed could look out in the crowd and pick out a dozen people he had seen already this past week alone. reed was stationed where he usually was most nights. behind the bar. taking money, filling drinking, and helping girls on and off the bar top. some night he was back in his office going over paperwork, making more orders for alcoholic beverages. sure, reed might see all reckless and uncaring. ok, well, he was, but he also took this business seriously. no way was he going to take all this stuff lightly because he could get it taken away from him in a heartbeat if he didn't manage it right.
reed was putting money in the cash register when he felt hands on the back of his shoulders. he slammed the drawer shut and turned to see brett kennedy looking at him. "what?" he asked her, as she eyed him suspiciously. "have you fucked her yet?" reed was taken aback for a moment. "i don't know what you're talking about." it was a honest statement, however the question she asked him wouldn't be too out of the ballpark for him if he knew who she was talking about. "bullshit you don't. that little brunette you hired?" reed rubbed his chin with a hand. he then looked at the bar, at least a couple of them were brunette. "you're going to have to be a little more specific than that." brett raised both her eyebrows. "ok... the one you hired that's underaged?" oh, ok, this was in fact true. the only dirty thing the bar did was hire someone who was seventeen. "oh, carly." he said. brett narrowed her eyes, "right, that one." reed shook his head though, leaning his body against the back counter. "but to answer your question nooo. i did not fuck her." brett placed her hands on her bare hips, her stomach exposed by the midriff shirt she was wearing. "reed... what are you doing then?" the way she said it puzzled reed. like, he was doing something bad. and it also didn't sound like brett at all. "aww, you a little jealous," he jokingly said to her, pretending to pinch her cheek. she swatted his hand away and shook her head. "no. i am not jealous. i am just looking out for you."
reed sighed and rolled his eyes as he looked over at the bar's entrance. he spotted the redhead entering the bar and he broke into a genuine smile, bringing his hand up and waving towards her. brett whipped her head around locating what reed was waving to. she turned back and rolled her eyes. reed knew for some reason that brett didn't like mary. maybe it was because she was younger than her but farther in life than brett would ever get, or that reed pretty much drops anything for his childhood best friend from ireland. "you should wash that goofy smile off your face. you look like such a girl. your taste in women in truly puzzling." brett shook her head and reed countered back, "hey, be careful there. you're talking about yourself." brett shrugged and poked his chest, "but, i'm not your woman, am i? i'm just here when you get bored with your women." she smirked and turned around, sauntering off down the the bar. also probably get away from reed's approaching friend. not wanting to say hi or make any conversation with mary was one of brett's m.o's. "mare, hey!" he yelled over the noise as she edged her way closer to him. they were at the end of the bar, where it wasn't as busy. "i didn't know you were coming tonight." he pulled some beer from below the counter.
one thing reed was doing less of was drinking. strange, right? well, he wasn't going to drink on the job, and he wasn't one for breaking open some corona at noon the next day. the beer wasn't for him though, it was for mary. wondering it she'd take it, he twisted the cap off and tipped it towards her, "let me guess... you're going to take that offer of being a coyote tonight?"

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Mary Q. Connor Can't explain all the feelings that you're making me feel My heart's in overdrive and you're behind the steering wheel
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ----------- SO NOW ROSALYN SUMMERS WAS AT BROWN, and Haley and Mary now lived on their own in a slightly smaller apartment in the same Hitten Building. Now, it's not like Mary and her graceful blonde cousin were super similar. And Rose and Haley were always at each other's throats but now that she was missing from the grouping, it felt strange. It was like their annoying prudish conscience was missing, their own jiminy cricket had disappeared to the east coast. If Rosalyn had been there, perhaps should would be here to stop Mary from making the same mistake over and over again. Mary could just see her now, the tall, leggy blonde standing with elegance and poise, her nose held up in disdain, lips pressed together and her head moving from side to side ever so subtly in her silent way of saying, "you're better than this, you're better than this situation.' Now, whether or not Mary would have listened, or believed her in anyways, right now, it would really be nice to at least talk to someone who seemed to have everything in life figured out. Yeah that would be very nice. Rose was just that type of person and while she was not the only reason Mary was in a foul mood, missing her cousin and roommate was part of it. She kind of just wanted a night hanging with Rose and Hales. You know, them all trying to watch a movie together, Mary laughing as Rose and Haley go at each other's throats about the main female lead and whether she is refined enough.
----------- SO I SUPPOSE MARY WILL JUST HAVE TO settle for a night alone with a movie. Haley was out with Matteo or working on her line or something or other. Mary was alone for the night. She supposed she could go find Tim but seeing as that was the situation Rose would be scolding her for, she figured she didn't want to make matters any more sticky you know? That was one of the issues she was having with herself recently. Timothy Surresh. Dark, Broody and sexy. Sort of Mary's fantasy type more than the type she usually dates. They had initially went out for the fun of it and out of jealously and honestly, simple lust they ended up sleeping together. And now, she couldn't seem to make herself tell him no. It's not that she didn't want to sleep with him, she enjoyed it. She just didn't like the fact that she was now one of those girls that slept with the same guy over and over but with no commitment. She wasn't a fuck buddy, I mean, she was now and that's what she was taking interest in. But while Reed was screwing around with a new girl every night, she was alone. That's why she went to Tim, he made her feel sexy. She was almost certain Tim did like her, just not enough. And honestly, she didn't know if she even liked Tim enough. She just needed to keep herself busy. School was back and she had stacked herself with 16 credits on top of a 22 hour work week.
----------- THE BEST THING TO DO IS JUST TO NOT think about these things. That is how she dealt and it had always worked for her in the past. Right now, as Mary was stepping out of the shower since she was one of those weirdos who showered at night, she heard what sounded like the song Up the Creek by Cheap Trick playing in a dull tone. She quickly wrapped a towel around her body and shut the bathroom fan off and listened, Yep there it was again. Mary clutched the towel under her arm and ran into the main room of the apartment, hair dripping, legs still wet and leaving small droplets of water onto the carpeted floor as she reached into her coat jacket and pulled out her buzzing cell phone. The number was unknown to her. She flipped it open and placed the phone to her ear, "Hello?" She answered. There was a long pause of silence on the other end, Mary furrowed her brow in confusion when she finally heard a familiar female voice respond. "Mary?" The voice said softly and unsure of itself. Mary felt all the blood drain from her body as she forgot how to breath, "Cory?" Cory was short for Coreene. Cory just so happened to be Mary's sister. A woman who Mary had never connected with. They had never gotten along, they had never... just... there was a lot of rough history. In fact, the last time Mary had seen her sister in person was at their father's funeral at which Mary told Cory to get the hell out of her life. That was five years ago.
----------- MARY HAD NO CLUE WHAT TO SAY OR DO as her sister hung on the other line. She heard her fellow red head take a deep breath, "How have you been?" Mary's breathing caught up with her and reality set in. Her sister was calling her, after everything and all she's asking is what's up? Argh! Mary licked her lips before shutting her eyes so she wouldn't gain a head ache. "I am... confused, why are you calling Cory?" "I heard you had come through Dublin, why didn-" okay okay, Mary had to interrupt here. "Yeah, I came through briefly, and we haven't talked in five years and so no--" Mary paused and took a deep breath as she looked around the apartment, her legs and hair still dripping onto the carpet, "Look Cory, I am a little busy right now, I jut got out of the shower, I have to go." but her sister insisted, "Mary, please I just want to talk to you." "I can't do this right now." Mary replied before shutting her phone shut on the older Connors girl. Mary took a deep breath. Great, her sister. That's a pandora's box waiting to be opened. Mary almost felt bad but with everything else going on she just couldn't handle her on top of it and now.... now being alone would mean festering on everything. She just wanted out. And there was only two people she really wanted to see right now. Reed Turner and Jack Daniels.
----------- MARY RUSHED BACK INTO THE BATHROOM AND dried herself off before getting herself ready. Reed would be working tonight. He had opened a Coyote Ugly bar in Valkyrie, which while it wasn't quite her style to get up on a bar and remove her bra, the Coyote Ugly bar was more her style than say Bare or Underneath. The place was called bad seeds and as she pulled on her black knee high stockings, she just wanted to get there and throw her troubles to the side wall for a little while at least. Mary grabbed her black jacket from the table and pulled it over her arms, buttoning it up for warmth before she locked up and made her way to the bar, hopping on the city bus at the stop down the street. As Mary entered the bar, she kept her eyes peeled for one Reed Turner. They were busy again, the bar was a hit. Good for him. She wandered through some people, ducking slightly until she heard her name called out. She saw Reed more towards the end of the bar. She gave a small smile as she walked over to him, "i didn't know you were coming tonight." He stated as she reached the bar. "I didn't either." He pulled out a beer and tipped it to her. Reaching out for it gratefully she took a large swig, yeah, she wasn't in the best mental place at the moment. "let me guess... you're going to take that offer of being a coyote tonight?" Mary forced a small laugh and shook her head, "No, never. But I'll take a stiffer drink if you've got one." She replied with a shrug.

REED LEE ,BACK HERE YOU NEVER LOST YOU SHAKE THE SHIVERS OFF YOU TAKE A DRINK TO GET YOUR COURAGE UP CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?----------------------------- ----SO, ACTUALLY, THE SECOND ONLY dirty thing bad seeds committed was serving alcohol yo a minor. reed saw mary as a friend so if the bar got busted, he'd just throw her in his apartment a floor above. taking care of one drunk friends was easier than a drunk stranger. besides, mary was really smart. if you're a junior in college and can't have a beer, something was wrong there. mary didn't look like her normal self either. reed had known mary for a long time. long enough to something was bothering her. still. after all the years of being separated. she was probably the only person in valkyrie that knew the turner clan in simpler times. before finn went to jail, regan became a drug addict, and reed got emancipated from his parents. yeah, when they were normal. when reed's family first moved away, it was toughest on reed to leave mary because she really was like his best friend. sure, she knew everyone else but, reed and mary were the closest in age, so they just seemed to get each other. rachel, reed's mother, really like mary too. mary was a 'cute little irish girl' according to his mother. rachel was one of those typical mothers where she'd tell people that reed and mary would get married. the statement closely followed by staying in ireland and growing up. well, then reality came and everyone separated. ironic that mary came back into his life when he was going through a very tough time in his life. you know, the time when reed found himself divorced. he was glad he had some friends and brothers that helped him after that. but, your past defines who you are. the only good advice his father ever gave him. well, it wasn't intended to be good advice, but reed decided to take it that way.
"i didn't either." reed tipped his head slightly back and nodded. "tough day...?" he asked, leaning towards her, elbows against the bar. even if he wasn't good friends with her, he would have been able to tell something was wrong. he had been a bartender for a long time now. nonsense and that small stint in underneath. when you come to get a drink, alone, something was wrong. "no, never. but i'll take a stiffer drink if you've got one." reed smirked a little. every time he saw her, he offered her to go up on the bar. and every time, she said no. someday, he swore, he was going to get her up on there. "you say that now, but one of these days, mary..." he trailed off as he grabbed a glass for her and started mixing some harder liquor together. the typical old reed would also start mixing himself his own drink, and he even reached for a second glass but stopped himself. reed wouldn't have called himself an alcoholic. maybe he was because he really didn't believe three months could have made him find alcohol less-appealing by just merely spending time on making his bar. and prior to those past few blurry months consisted of him getting wasted. almost every single night. he was still immature, still a teenager. why did it feel though, that he had graduated three years ago versus three months? it was a weird feeling for him. he had heard from some other neighborhood kids that daphne was drinking again and it made him sick that he'd been so busy to help her out. it was a shame too because daphne was actually doing good. he kind of wanted her to have some self-discovery and realize this was no good for someone of her age. she'd look back at this point in her life and ask why. reed was definitely in that phase now. probably because he was finally happy, in some form at least. reed removed his hand from the second glass and finished mixing mary's drink. he slid it towards her saying, "don't pass out on me now."
the bar was busy and noisy, but he was able to communicate with mary without raising the volume of his voice too loudly. he glanced down the bar though, to see if anything was going wrong. you never know with a bar like this. girls dancing on the table pouring shots down people's throats. he actually didn't know how dangerous it could potentially get until one night brett broke some guy's nose. yeah... don't ask. but a piece of advice, don't try pulling brett kennedy off the bar and into your lap or else you're going to get a very nice foot in your face followed by getting kicked out and walking your ass to the hospital. it was a good laugh to everyone else but they all took note. when reed looked down he didn't see brett breaking anyone's nose. instead, she was drenching the entire front row with some beer, spraying the through the nozzeled hose. they wasted so much alcohol. thankfully they were getting a lot of business to not really worry about it.
reed reached back and itched the back of his neck, right where the hairline ended. "so, uh, how is what's-his-face?" he tried playing it off cool, but of course mary knew exactly who he was talking about. tim suresh. reed didn't need much reason to not like the kid; he just didn't and that was that. he saw them first at a party. kind of struck a chord with him. jealousy? maybe. but reed quickly found out that they were not dating at all, they just hooked up. but who was reed to judge? he didn't, but he thought mary deserved better. not that he was the next best eligible suitor. no way. mary was too good for him too. reed himself had a lot of growing up to do before that. "i'm just saying... you can do a lot better than him." they were friends so, reed had every right to tell his friend that she was sleeping with a jerk.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Mary Q. Connor Can't explain all the feelings that you're making me feel My heart's in overdrive and you're behind the steering wheel
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ----------- IT HAD BEEN MANY YEARS SINCE MARY HAD even spoken to her sister before this night. God, what had been so important that had needed their plan of pretending not to be acquainted, let alone sisters. Although, Mary was more the one who had decided. Cory had more bitterly agreed to respect Mary's distance but an awkward and forced call on the phone was not respecting the distance so Mary had to wonder why the change? The two redhead Dublin born sisters had never gotten along, ever. Everyone who knew them knew that. They all think something huge had to have happened to break them apart and separate them. People always think that they had done something horrible to each other, stole boyfriends, mocked a dead friend, some sort of flat out betrayal, etc. But the real reason why they hated each other so much? Well, it was nothing like the above listed. Nor was it a stab in the back or any event that could be pinpointed really. It was a slow, gradual process and it was unfair because the hatred didn't spawn from anything either of them did specifically but more of a general disdain and resentment. The first of which is going to sound bad but here goes. When Mary was born, her mother died in labor. And Cory didn't handle her mom's death well. Cory was always more of a mama's girl. And while Mary looked like her mom's clone, Cory looked like their father. Cory hated it. Mary was more of a daddy's girl but she didn't care she didn't look like him. So she didn't get it.
----------- WHAT SHE DID GET WAS THAT CORY WAS THE PRINCESS of Dublin. No matter where she went, Mary was just Cory's little sister. Cory's so pretty, Cory's so driven, Cory's so sweet, yadda yadda yadda and while Cory was little miss popular, she comes home and all she does is fight with their dad. Dad and Cory had horrible fights. They just clashed and the way Mary saw it, even if that wasn't quite how it happened, Cory was just a spoiled brat that wanted the special attention she got everywhere else. But no, their father loved Mary too and that pissed of Cory, at least in Mary's eyes. And then when they had to move, Cory abandoned them! She begged their dad to let her stay in Dublin and stay with their Aunt. It nearly broke their dad's heart but he let her. Mary hadn't really forgiven her for it. On Cory's side of the story, she would tell you how she felt like an outsider in her home since Mary and dad were like a club of sarcasm no one could enter and that her friends were all she felt she had so the idea of leaving them felt like leaving her real home and family. After their dad died, Cory came to New York for the funeral and at the wake Cory was upset of course, she just lost her father but the fact that she was upset got Mary more angry at her. How dare she live her life betraying him and then "pretend" to mourn him to keep up her image? Cory never cared about dad, she cared about her popularity. And that was when Mary told her to get out of her life. She hadn't seen her since. Not even when she passed through Dublin and heard that she was in the hospital.
----------- OKAY, YEAH THAT SOUNDS PRETTY BAD BUT HERE's the thing, Mary did go. She went to the hospital and asked the doctors if she was going to be okay. They said yes and Mary figured it wasn't necessary then for her to literally see her or speak to her. So she left. She sometimes felt a bit of guilt but really, she was still just so resentful to her for what happened with their dad. Mary hadn't taken his death well. Her heart still ached for him every time she read Treasure Island or listened to a Cheap Trick song. She missed him more than she knew was possible beforehand and you know how people say, it gets easier with time? or the pain does go away? Yeah, well, they're liars. It gets worse with time, you miss them more, you hurt more. The only reason it seems easier, is because it gets easier to handle without flat out crying. You learn to ignore the ache in your heart, but it never leaves and it never dulls. The sad truth was, deep down, it wasn't Cory that made her so furious, it was her dad's death and how alone it made her feel. "tough day...?" Reed's voice broke through Mary's deep thoughts as she took another drink of the beer. She looked up at him looking at her, leaned over onto the bar. She nodded slightly before looking down at the beer in her hand, "uh... yeah" Mary tapped her finger against the bottle and cocked her head to the side slightly, "My sister called." She added forcing a hint of a smile, so it didn't seem as such a big throw off as it was.
----------- SHE SHOULD ALSO PROBABLY ADD "OH AND I FEEL LIKE a complete whore for sleeping with tim." but she figured that was one problem she might be able to keep to herself tonight. "you say that now, but one of these days, mary..." Mary smirked slightly, amused. And nodded, "Whatever you say, mr. turner." She replied nonchalantly. She watched as he made her a drink and slid it over. "don't pass out on me now." Mary laughed slightly, "Hey! I'm still Irish. I can still drink like one of us." Although, that was a lie, Reed should even know that's a lie, Mary was a light weight. And a fairly light light weight. When she was in Greece she had gotten drunk off of two shots of vodka and one and a half beers. And not like tipsy drunk... wasted drunk. She was Irish and associated herself with New Yorkers but she was not the type who could be drinking for five hours straight and still be standing. "so, uh, how is what's-his-face?" Mary looked up sipping her drink at Reed. He had to be cute didn't he? If he wasn't, she would have been able to handle a striking glare in his direction at that question, but noooopppeee, couldn't do it. She shrugged and took another gulp, before taking a deep breath and shaking her head slightly, "Tim Surrrrrrreeeesshhh." She responded, emphasizing his last name slightly, already feeling a bit of a buzz. Told you she was a lightweight. "And he's fine... I think" She added, honestly. "i'm just saying... you can do a lot better than him." Mary squinted slightly, obviously she couldn't do much better. She shrugged, "And you could do better than a girl you're not even into, but you don't hear me lecturing." She replied looking down at her now empty beer bottle, peeling at the label. She sighed and put it down on the bar. Mary looked up and met Reed's eyes, "Sorry..." She said sincerely, "I'm sorry. It's non of my business." she added, shaking her head slightly.

REED LEE ,BACK HERE YOU NEVER LOST YOU SHAKE THE SHIVERS OFF YOU TAKE A DRINK TO GET YOUR COURAGE UP CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?----------------------------- ----HE LIKED STANDING HERE TALKING with mary. sure, the bar he owned was overflowing with people. but did it mean anything when as loud as it was at times, it all went mute and he was able to have a conversation with the redhead in front of him. brett was right, he probably looked like a total girl sometimes. what? it wasn't his fault that close friends and family got him like this. reed was a softie at heart. though it took awhile to chip away at his exterior and get down that far.
"uh... yeah. My sister called." reed tilted his head back a little and said, "oh." he did know if he should press that anymore but he tentatively said, "how did that go?" reed never really talked to or hung out with mary's older sister, cory. even when they were kids, she was just kind of like the older sister, so reed didn't really intentionally hang out with her or try to be her friend. and he didn't really know the backstory, but he knew enough that he knew mary and cory didn't get along at all. so when mary said that she called, he was a little surprised since he knew they weren't on speaking terms. "so you're ok, then?" he asked. since he didn't know what was said, he didn't know if cory said mean things or anything like that. he gave mary a half smile. and amongst the busy coyote ugly club reed tried to have a sentimental moment with his childhood best friend. "''cause you know, i'm always here... if you wanted to talk... or something." he shrugged a couple times when he said this, because it felt a little awkward coming from reed. since it wasn't like him. but he was a loyal friend when it came down to it all, so if mary wanted to talk, he would listen.
reed was very proud to be irish. so were the rest of the turners that resided in valkyrie. though maybe not every family member got along swimmingly with another, they all had that boisterous irish quality that made them the stereotypical irish family living in america. reed could be loud, arrogant, and an angry drunk. riley was a little timid, so he's the outlier of this situation. but even if reed didn't get along with finnegan, he was one of those crazy irish drunks you saw on tv. the one that gets drunk, someone pisses him off, and the next thing you know there's a bar fight. then again, finnegan was a hot head anyway. that kid probably watched some stupid irish shit on tv and started acting like it. "Hey! I'm still Irish. I can still drink like one of us." reed stood straight up and crossed his arms across his chest. "yeah, but can you handle it like one of us is the real question." he rose an eyebrow and cocked his head to the side like it was a big deal. he started laughing though and leaned back forward on the counter. "but if you want to pretend to be a baddass irish drunk tonight, i'll let ya."
so one minute, she was ok, the next she was droning out tim suresh's name like a class a drunk. ignoring mary's growing drunkness, he continued on. "oh that's his name," he mused, nodding like the name sounded familiar after all. when she added that he was fine... or she thought he was fine, it made him wonder if she was even still seeing him. or, then again, reed would be saying all his hook-ups were 'fine' too. he didn't really talk to most of them outside of the bedroom... or living room, or car, or - well, you get the idea. "And you could do better than a girl you're not even into, but you don't hear me lecturing." drunk or not, she definitely got him there. he smiled a little, because it was one hundred percent true. nikki held a fascination with for awhile there. then he got to lazy and busy to really break-up with her. maybe she got the hint? because honestly, reed didn't see them as a couple anymore and neither did the other girls hitting on him. he should probably call her or something. clear the air and make him stop looking like such a douchebag. "Sorry...I'm sorry. It's non of my business." reed laughed. "it's fine. you're right anyways. i can do better than a girl i'm not into." he nodded and gave her another drink. "i have a couple girls lined up after this one. but like you said, i could do better." yeah, reed could be a little bit of a jerk. flat out saying that he regularly hook-up with shallow girls that throw themselves at guys. guys like reed who didn't mind that. he was watching mary get more and more intoxicated, and becoming genuinely concerned for her he asked, "hey, are you going to need a ride home tonight or something?" a couple minutes later, brett walked over to them. she looked like she was about to say something but instead, she looked at mary. did the whole 'up-down' stare, then turned to reed and shook her head, "you're friend can't handle her alcohol." reed exhaled, "i know, brett, what do you want?" remembering why she came over, she said, "oh, right. so, shelia got a call, and i guess her kid is throwing up and shit at home so she had to leave early. so we'll be down one coyote for the rest of the night. unless..." reed followed her line of vision and saw her eyes on mary. reed tried to protest and say, "no, she doesn't-" but brett swatted his arm away and said to mary, "hey, drunk girl. yes, you. how about you get up on this counter with me and we'll serve some alcohol to some people that are drunk past the legal limit in california?"

•• Mary Connors ••
CAN'T EXPLAIN ALL THE FEELINGS YOU'RE MAKING ME FEEL My heart's in overdrive and you're behind the steering wheel ------------------------------------------ ------ There was something so... pure? Maybe, I don't know if that's the right word for it but whatever, but there really was something so rare in Reed and Mary's friendship. And much to Mary's disappointment, it was partially due to the lack of romance between them. They were real friends, they had been almost their entire lives and still weren't bored with each other yet. They hadn't really even grown apart. I mean, obviously they weren't as close when she lived away from him but they had actually been able to keep up with letters and emails, which is something Mary has never been good at. She is not the type of girl who is good at the "keeping in touch" thing. Ever. Every single pen pal she's been set up with school things has failed. Even for the assignment because she just doesn't care about friendships when the friends not around. Like she will miss them but what's the point right? But no, Reed she was keeping. He was close to her heart, no matter what happened he still would be. It was both extremely terrifying to care about someone like that and extremely freeing to know she could. Now if Reed died, she doubted she could ever get past the loss of her mother, father and him. She just couldn't lose everyone she loved. It wouldn't be right, it wouldn't be fair.
------ She was alone. No parents, no sister really, and the only real, REAL friend she had was Reed, who while he made her feel great, he also was slowly breaking her heart without even knowing it. Needless to say, Mary was not his type. I mean, she never met Ashley but all the girls she had met that he was either banging or dating were far from her style. Just look at this Nikki Malinda girl. Apparently she used to be a tom boy and then turned into a barbie for him. She sold out. Mary wasn't a sell out. Although, oh god maybe she was, after all she was sleeping with Tim... ugh. She took another drink from the glass. "how did that go?" Mary looked up at Reed's words with a confused look on her brow, "How did what go? OH!" She exclaimed, her brain had already jumped subjects, damn depressive drinking syndrome, she needed to get happy. Happy thoughts, Mary, Happy thoughts... ooo maybe she could fly! oh wait no... she would need a pixie... "Yeah, that, it didn't. I hung up on her." She said nonchalantly looking around at all the people briefly. "so you're ok, then?" "pfft, yeah." Mary responded with a nod, "I'm- I'm happy.... like pixie dust. Alone and happy." She added trying to take another drink, the glass was empty though, she looked at it with a frown and her bottom lip stuck out before grinning and Reed and holding it out. "I'll love you foreeevverrr" She said as though she were bribing him. Like she wouldn't anyway... fuck god.
------ Mary hadn't even registered his sweet, though slightly out of character offer had she needed to talk. She had been too busy watching the people in the bar dance like idiots. She could dance. she never did though... hmm wonder why? She could dance. They looked like floppy fish... hee hee alliteration is fun. Fun Floppy Fish and Reed's Family member named Finn. heh heh. "yeah, but can you handle it like one of us is the real question." She watched as Reed stood up straighter and cross his arms all superior like and she gasped and sat up straighter, pointing at him accusingly, "I find that offensive..." She nodded as though she had given a magnificent rebuttal, laughing a bit as he laughed... he had a pretty smile... and leaned back onto the counter. "but if you want to pretend to be a baddass irish drunk tonight, i'll let ya." Mary smiled warmly and nodded, "That's better." She replied looking at him. Great, even drunk she liked him. She looked at him with a smile and her head and her hand before nodding, "Besides, I handle it fine. Iiii'mmm not an angry drunk or... or... a de-depressive one." She added matter of factly, sitting up a bit, "I mean, does this look angry or sad?" She asked before smiling widely and using both her hands to point at her face. "I'm charming!" She concluded, dropping her arms.
------ Could Mary do better than Tim Surresh? God, that's a mean thing to ask. If she said no, it implied that she was pathetic and if she said yes, it sounded like she was better than him and she wasn't. She wasn't and she didn't think she was, drunk or not. Perhaps she was better than "friends with benefits" but she wasn't better than him. He was a good guy. He had a shell, who didn't in this city. Oh wait no, strike that. Who didn't on this planet? "it's fine. you're right anyways. i can do better than a girl i'm not into." Mary nodded in agreement repeatedly with her eyes closed for a moment. Of course she would agree with that. She was crushing on the boy! She took another gulp of the new drink he handed her. "i have a couple girls lined up after this one. but like you said, i could do better." Mary kept nodding for like a half second before registering what her said. She looked up from her cup at him with squinted suspicious eyes and just kind of looked at him. "you're a penis." She said plainly, her drunken way of calling him a dick(aka anna's way of drunken calling guy's dicks). She shrugged, "But a penis I love so... whatever" She added nonchalantly but a moment later she froze and thought about that one. "No no, that came out bad." She said with a disappointed look on her face. "But you knew what I meant right?" She asked Reed, concerned.
------ My lord, had sober Mary seen drunken Mary with anyone BUT Reed, she would have found herself funny. But with Reed, she would have wanted to die, right there, right then. Even drunken Mary was blushing from that blunder. "hey, are you going to need a ride home tonight or something?" Mary shook her head, "I waaalked" She responded putting emphasis on the 'a,' sounding very proud of herself. She had walked right? Yeah... no, bus... counts as walking. It was a public bus... Mary thought about it for a moment before she heard another voice echoing the idea that she couldn't handle her drink, "Heey" She mumbled in a slightly offended tone, quietly, letting them talk. Reed's friend. Another one. Another girl. And of course she had to look like a sluttly high fashion model. "no, she doesn't-" "hey, drunk girl. yes, you. how about you get up on this counter with me and we'll serve some alcohol to some people that are drunk past the legal limit in california?" Mary looked at the blonde and smiled... aww she was being included. Mary looked at Reed, "How do you know? Maybe you were right Reed. I should try new things. Besides I am already sleeping with a guy I'm not dating, might as well try the slut way -- no offense." She added putting a hand up to Brett. Mary hopped off the stool, only to use it to climb up onto the counter, but standing straight swished her head a bit, but as soon as she looked around, Mary's eyes widened, "Woah high." She put her arms out. She put on a smile as she got used to the height, lowering her arms and looked at Brett for the lead. What? Like she had done this before?

REED. LEE. TURNER.( YOU TAKE A DRINK TO GET YOUR )( COURAGE UP CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? ) ----THE BARTENDER IN HIM said it would be time to cut her off and call her a cab. but this was reed turner and the drinker was his best friend. he did find it funny though. she barely had anything and she was acting like she already had several drinks. oh, how the tables have turned, haven't they? usually, it was the other way around. reed stumbling drunk, picking fights and insulting people. sometimes, he was kinf od selfish in these situations. because he just assumed someone would be there to help him along or clean up his messes for him. he grew up always having someone like that. first it was riley. then riley went to college and it turned to his friends. now it was back to riley. yeah, he was definitely selfish and he never really thanked his older brother for saving his skin time after time. when riley wasn't around though, mary kind of filled that spot. another selfish move on his part.
"I'm charming!" reed laughed when she described what kind of drunk she was. "ok, so you're the charming drunk and i'm the... the dangerous drunk. remind me to never get drunk when you are. that would never end well." even sober, reed was making comments that it would take him two drinks to say. publicly commenting about being a player and cheating on his girlfriend. and even if mary was his best friend, she was still a girl. nikki was a girl. so telling mary about cheating with girls on the side is kind of wrong. mary wouldn't want that to happen to her, and here reed was telling her what guys sometimes do. if that made sense, bravo. but in reed's twisted little mind, he understood it. "you're a penis." ok, he got dick a lot, but penis? that was a first. mary immediately took it back though, stammering around before she settled on, "But you knew what I meant right?" reed shrugged his shoulders, pouring her another drink. he slid it to her saying, "yeah, yeah, totally. you love my penis. i get that all the time." oh, reed you need to stop. but, it was too easy teasing the drunk redhead.
and then brett had to come along and ruin everything. he had a feeling this might end badly. anything like this usually did. reed looked at mary from brett. brett always had alternative motives up her sleeves. that he did know about her. and besides, wasn't brett just shaking her head at mary no more than a hour ago? yeah, that's what he thought. reed could even see the bemused line sublty across her lips. so mary was ready to do something new? he knew brett must really be into this idea when she didn't even make a comment towards the 'slut' thing. as mary started her drunken sway of getting up on the counter, brett did the same. she turned and faced reed as she hopped up on the bar, butt first. before she could advance any farther, reed grabbed her wrist. "don't do anything to embarrass her. it's in your nature. or i will fire you." brett rolled her eyes and pulled her wrist away. "i'm not like that. well, actually, i am, but tonight i'm deciding not to be. now turn up this song!"
of course, of all the songs, it was 'cherry pie' by warrant. reed rolled his eyes and turned around to turn up the volume as brett turned to mary. "ok, this coat needs to go," she yelled over the music to her. taking control, brett quickly unbutton the redhead's head and tossed the black coat at reed, who put it behind him and took his place directly behind mary. with the music loud, and some new random chick on the counter, some people started whooping and hollering. brett bent down quickly and grabbed two bottles. one was tequila, the other was some jack. brett handed the tequila to mary and yelled quickly into her ear. "basically all you can do is kind of bounce to the beat and pour some tequila into guys' mouths. it's pretty simple because they're all pretty eager. ready?"
reed watched as brett whispered into mary's ear. each holding a bottle of booze. he pretty much planted himself behind mary and would follow her up and down the bar, in case she needed some help or something. he watched as brett walked a few steps away from mary, rolling her body in her barely-there outfit, (reed never really had a dress code. kind of, wear something you didn't care if beer got on and something you could easily move around it.) brett was wearing a pair of those jean shorts that daisy duke chick could have worn and a shirt cut at the midriff where if you were standing on the ground and looked up, you just might see something there. honestly, if reed didn't know brett despised strip clubs, he would have thought she was a stripper before she got this gig. even if she hated strip clubs, she basically grew up in them. with her mom and everything. reed looked up at mary and touched her leg, getting her attention. "you don't have to do this you know!"
he yelled up to her, not sure of how much she could hear him. ______________ STATUS, complete. •• Mary Connors ••
CAN'T EXPLAIN ALL THE FEELINGS YOU'RE MAKING ME FEEL My heart's in overdrive and you're behind the steering wheel ------------------------------------------ ------ Come on Mary, stop. think about what you are doing here! She always thought about her actions, she always thought about every issue that her ears, eyes, nose or mind picks up on. Yeah she usually doesn't seem to think before she speaks because when she has an opinion, it comes out, you can always count on her to be honest about what she thinks about a certain issue. But her actions tend to be very thought out. But maybe that meant it was time for her to act on a bit. Maybe it was about fucking time she just chilled her overly saturated opinions and let loose for a night. Perhaps this next drink she was downing would bring her enough of a spark to get her life off this path of complete and utter nothingness. And it was nothingness. Reed and Haley and some of her other friends might look at her and think "wow she's in college and younger than her given classmates" and that because of this fact think that she was on track with her life, but Haley wanted to be a fashion designer, she knew it and she could work for it. She had something to focus on that wasn't her sex tape or her lack of a real family. And Reed, well, he had his issues but he was on a good path. He had Bad Seeds, and it was doing awesome for a new business. He has his friends, his bar, his scene. Mary? What did she want to be when she grew up? Nothing... and everything. She wanted to be an Anthropologist, an Engineer, a writer, a politician, a reporter, a new anchor, and animal behaviorlist. All she knows for certain is that she wants to be able to travel. Whether its for her job or just in life, travel has to be there.
------ These are not really the only life path issues she has been getting lately, though. Mary hated that she was one of these girls but let's face it people... Mary was not really crazy about Timothy Suresh. She liked the guy, sure. He was fun and made her feel sexy which rarely to never happened. It's true what they say about guys not really wanting smart girls. They want the girls that seem smart but aren't too opinionated and if they do want them, it's for a night NOT for a relationship past friendship. But back to Tim, he had something in him that was extremely unique and almost gentle. Mary could not really put a label to it but it was there. He was better than he thought he was. He was better than the world thought he was but he wasn't for Mary. She's not saying for sure that Reed was, just that if someone like Tim who really is her type couldn't make her stopping thinking about her friend in the romantic sense, he wasn't for her and something was wrong there. Her and Reed are just soooo different. They were, lets not lie. But they were still best friends. And Mary still adored him and wanted to be around him first when something bad happened. To tell you the truth, Mary wasn't sure about anything anymore. Her brain was failing her and because of this disappointment, she was giving her brain a much needed night off. So Prepare yourself Mary Connors, prepare yourself to not judge and to let what comes natural happen.
------ Mary was probably going to be in over her head getting up on that strip stage bar. Mary ignored the comment Reed made over her wanting his penis because, vulgar or not, it probably had more truth to it than he knew. Her mind was spinning though as she stood, tossing her jacket on the seat and feeling like ridiculously conservative in her short black and white school girl skirt and black tank. Probably because every other girl up there looked like they were picked up off the street. Nor was she as thin as these girls. Now Mary wasn't fat by any standard but she was more of the curvy with teensy bits of baby fat here and there. These girls, Brett in particular had the body wished they could have, leggy, very thin and she still manages to keep her boobs. Mary saw something in her peripheral sight, "don't do anything to embarrass her. it's in your nature. or i will fire you." Mary shook her head, laughing slightly, "Reed, Reed, Reed, Brett would nevvvvere." She slurred, even drunk knowing Brett was more than capable of it. She patted him on the top of his head gently, "But its sweet you care." She added with a smile before turning away from him and turning towards the music and massive crowd of people. Turning the brain off for the night, right Mary? Alcohol had done half the work for you already.
------ Mary's face gained a mischievous look she could only achieve during drunken stupor as she bent down grabbing her drink, standing straight up just to down it as the song Cherry Pie has that very short beat oriented musical intermission near the beginning before the first verse really gets the song going. She raised her arms and cheered along with some guys right below her and handed one of them the glass when she heard Brett's voice in her ear. "basically all you can do is kind of bounce to the beat and pour some tequila into guys' mouths. it's pretty simple because they're all pretty eager. ready?" Mary laughed and nodded, "Sounds like a plan!" She replied, taking the bottle Brett handed her. She began to step across the counter, about to get a feel for the music and the new height the very small Irish girl now had on the bar when she heard Reed's voice once more. "you don't have to do this you know!" Mary raised an eyebrow at him, as if to say "i'll show you what I can do" Screwing any stage fright at that point she stood back up and spun around, kicking over the head of the bar goers(high enough that it wasn't like she almost kicked someone in the face), pretty much just giving a great upskirt shot before crouch down onto her spread knees and pulling a guy in back to her leaning back on her between her knees and pouring a double shots worth of tequila into the guys mouth before pushing him away as he cheered. She stood back up straight in an easy bounce and began dancing with a few of the girls to beat. Classic rock was a great choice as it was something she was familiar with the dancing style, hip hop would have fucked her. One of the other coyotes, Mary hardly payed attention as to who grabbed her hand pulling Mary back into her arms as Mary kicked high, again giving another great leg shot because the short skirt was her only skimp aspect. She laughed as the dancing continued, taking another shot as one guy offered it, slithering a bit to the beat as she stood straight again. But about thirty seconds before the end of the song as she spun she may have sort of kind spun off the bar. Luckily Reed was following her like a puppy and she fell right into him as he caught her. All she did was let her head fall back and laugh a bit, "See.. so much fun." She giggled, "apart from the bar being like a large balance beam..." She said slightly more mumbled.

( REED. LEE. TURNER. )( YOU TAKE A DRINK TO GET YOUR )( COURAGE UP CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? ) ----MARY WAS HIS BEST FRIEND. to the point where he felt like she could be another bevin to him. obviously there was a big difference in that fact. like, how bevin and him shared blood while mary and he were just childhood friends. they had moved away from each other, sure, but their friendship never faltered from that. he remembered his douchebag cousin, finn, called him a pussy when reed felt bad that he was moving away from mary. this of course, was followed by finn telling reed he had a crush on red, and being a young boy, reed threw a fit like any boy his age would. even if finn decided to be a jerk about it, reed wanted to continue that friendship, so he did, and he felt great about it. but, back to the fact that reed kind of didn't want to see mary get down and dirty on his bar. not because the thought of that repulsed him (because it defintiely did not) but she was his closest friend. would you want to see your childhood friend dancing on a bar serving alcohol to men that would like to take her home? yeah... right. a little twang of jealousy entered his bloodstream and he really didn't even know why.
the fact that mary trusted brett revealed just how drunk she was. brett promised him she wouldn't do anything, even reed couldn't fully trust her. he said he would fire her with ever ounce of seriousness he could muster. but they both knew, he wouldn't. mary popped right on up there and took the bottle of booze. brett moved easily, and reed probably looked like a little bit of a freak following mary up and down the bar like her keeper. if mary was sober... well, no. they wouldn't be in this situation if she was sober since a sober mary always told him she would never do it. that's why reed continuously teased her about doing it. now he wished he hadn't. he normally didn't let wasted coyotes dance on a narrow bar. that's just stupid and a safety hazard. he did want any of his girls to get hurt, twist their damn ankle or hit their head. aww, reed cared. or maybe he just thought the coyotes brought in 90% of the profits. if he lost the popular ones, he'd have to replace and less people would come. reed was turning into a business man. thinking like one and shit. he knew what his cash crop was. eliminate that and his bar would fall.
reed watched mary dance. it was kind of hard not too, since he was standing directly behind her on the ground. he couldn't help but raise his eyebrows at mary's new found confidence and she twirled, kicked, and served. things he definitely didn't know she could do. but that's what happened when you were drunk; you weren't yourself at all. he didn't know she had this in her and he nodded to the beat of the song. right when the song was coming to a close, it happened. thankfully, reed was still attentive despite what was going on in front of him and when mary took her tumble, over guessing the width of the counter, she fell onto him. or more, into him since reed's reflexes caught her in time before she actually fell to the dry-alcohol ground. he heard a few people in the first few rows echo a 'oohhh.' you know, like in the movies, but seeing that she didn't fall let out a couple cheers. he had caught her like a cradle and she threw her head back, laughing. "see.. so much fun. apart from the bar being like a large balance beam..." reed shook his head. "you're crazy, mare." he looked up at brett, who looked at him and shrugged. the song ended a few seconds after that and she hopped down the bar herself and sauntered her way over to mary and reed. "wasn't me," she said and shrugged again. "yeah, i know. for once, you listened to me. look, i'm going to take lightweight here upstairs. can you handle working down here by yourself?" he talked to brett like mary wasn't right there. brett nodded. she wasn't completely by herself. there were still a few coyotes working. if he'd leave any of them in charge, it would be brett since the girl was ruthless. "you got it," she said and turned away and hopped up on the bar again, shouting orders.
reed looked back down at the redhead in his arms, finally giving her some recognition. "mary, i'm taking you upstairs. you can crash at my place tonight." he never did this. taking some drunk chick up to his apartment. hm, well, let's say in this kind of situation. reed wasn't really what you would call a 'hero' or 'a knight in shining armor.' hell, no. he was more, 'i don't care if your drunk, get the fuck out of here.' or, he'd just sleep with her. but mary was different and he didn't want her walking around drunk, probably getting taken advantage of from some new fan she acquired from tonight. reed felt partly responsible for mary's little show tonight. it was the least he could do. it did actually come in handy that his apartment was right above his bar. he could stay up late working as late as he wanted and not fear about driving off the road driving back to his old apartment building. damn, that old place... he was glad to be getting out. not that his new place was any penthouse suite or anything, but it was a lot nicer and all-around cleaner. and, he didn't have any annoying as fuck neighbors that made meth. reed was still surprised he wasn't blown up while he lived there.
he removed his arm that was holding her legs up at the bend of her knees and let her get her bearings back on the ground. "you, ok?" he asked, his other arm still holding her upper body up. "we'll take it slow, i don't want you puking all over my dirty floors," he joked, pulling her arm across his shoulders so she could lean into him. he walked her slowly out of the bar and immediately around the corner, leading down the hall where the bathrooms and his office was. however, one of the doors on the left was normally locked, so reed had to fish in his pocket for his key. opening it up, they were greeted with stairs that led up to his pad. they took the stairs one at a time. it was a little tight going up due to the narrow staircase, but reed was able to work with it. once he successfully got her up the stairs, he eased her down onto the couch. once that mission was successful, he sat down next to her. "you need anything? water? aspirin?" he asked.

•• Mary Connors ••
CAN'T EXPLAIN ALL THE FEELINGS YOU'RE MAKING ME FEEL My heart's in overdrive and you're behind the steering wheel ------------------------------------------ ------ One thing Mary didn't get, even when sober, is how surprised people were when they found out how close Reed Turner and her were. Haley was especially shocked when she found out that Mary was head over heels for the boy. It's just no one seemed to think Mary and Reed should click. He had too rough a history, he was too loose with the girls, he wasn't going to college. While Mary was a fairly good girl all the the time, didn't date too often and had gone to college three years early and would be graduating with a bachelors at Nineteen. Many people she had met had thought it was totally possible for them to be friends but not close friends or more than friends because Mary wants to see the world and travel, loves different cultures, reads the classics and Reed owns a bar where girls in skimpy clothes dance on the counter. Mary wasn't completely self hating, she may not think of herself as one of the hot girls that swarmed Valkyrie but she knew she was smart. She liked that she had opinions on almost everything and knew enough on a lot of things to be able to hold conversations with a lot of different people. But she was not a snob, or at least she didn't think she was. She liked people with a bit of edge to them. She loved Reed's attitude a lot of the time. She loved his bar. She was the girl who's favorite shit was Johnny Cash giving people the finger. Not to mention, Reed had down something amazing, he had taken a chance, spending his money on a broken down wreck of a place and building it back up and turning it into a successful business. All before he was twenty? That's amazing. Yes, girls got onto the counter and danced but people let that distract them from really seeing what Reed had to do, without thinking about what he had accomplished. She only hoped he could see that.
------ Haley and Tim were the only ones whom she admitted too about her feelings for Reed, oh and Rose. Rose thought it was repulsive. We all know Rose, she was kind of a prude bitch. WHen she heard Reed got married in Vegas, AND before that was a bit of a player AND was now rebounding with the type of blonde Rose takes as an insult to her own blondness AND was opening a coyote bar... lets just say Vegas was all it took for her to form a view on Reed. Haley didn't care so much, she was just surprised since should thought Mary's type was more the well traveled, cultured guy with an accent. In general Haley was right but that didn't mean she couldn't like other types. Heh. She defended her crush even though she didn't want it. Reed was no where near interested and they had such a good friendship that even if he were she didn't know if she would be able to risk the friendship for it. Of course all the worries in her mind about her lack of a future, her family and just everything was far out of her mind at the moment. At that moment, all she could do was try hard not to get too dizzy from the tilt'a'whirl Reed built his bar on top of and think lightly about how it was kind of nice that Reed caught her and she got to be close to him for a bit. "you're crazy, mare."
------ Mary smiled and shook her head slightly before realizing that was a bad idea and stopping. The blood swirls in her head distracting her as Reed spoke to Brett for a second. Mary just kept her head still, resting it against Reed's shoulder as she became very tired. She smiled fairly content with right now. "mary, i'm taking you upstairs. you can crash at my place tonight." Mary mentally nodded, not wanting to risk the blood flow. Good plan. She did manage to lift her right hand and point it like a gun, and make the approval clicking sound through her teeth on the side of her mouth as people do. She watched her feet as Reed set her down helping her stand up, keeping his around her so she wouldn't just fall. "you, ok? we'll take it slow, i don't want you puking all over my dirty floors," Mary looked at the ground as they walked towards the stairs to his place, "Shows sss ww-what you know-w." She slurred, "I'm-m not even nauseated." Leave it to Mary to use a longer word and make sure she used the right form while drunk. She really wasn't though. She was just really sleepy, she was past puke, straight to bed was her body's desire. The next thing she knew she was being eased down onto a couch which felt great by there way.
------ Reed sat down next to her just a second later and she turned towards him, bending one leg up onto the couch to face him. She really did feel just very calm and floaty. She shut her eyes slowly as she was still sitting up next to him. Everything quiet, and even though sitting there had on happened a moment ago, it felt like a long time had passed for her. "you need anything? water? aspirin?" Mary opened her eyes slightly and smiled, she leaned forward and hugged him, "You're so much nicer to me than you should be." She said quietly, staying there for a half moment before pulling back and looking at him again, her arms still around his neck gently from the side. "All I need is sleep." She said even quieter than before. She gave a grateful closed mouth smile and without even thinking leaned forward again but instead of giving him a hug like it was a normal everyday thing they did, she kissed him softly on the lips. It was not a lust filled kiss. No tongue or fierce pressure, just a small, gentle, loving lip lock. Before she leaned back and let herself fall into the couch, she twisted so her body was facing the back of the couch, bending her legs up into the fetal position and yawned, already beginning to fall asleep. "Night Reed." She spoke incredibly softly in an exhaling breath, but just loud enough to be heard, before being out like a light.
