- - - - - - - - - the theme this year was 'roaring twenties.' vastly different from the previous year's egyptian theme. the year at the infamous academy had yet been tamer than most years. but of course, a lot of the big players at the academy graduated this past may. the student council this year wanted to stay in the past this year and decorated the gym quite well with glitter and shine. they insisted the dj to use one of the old-time microphones. academy staff were scolding students that insisted on calling the gym a 'speakeasy' for the night. but mostly, the staff were just relieved that the school year had been running rather smoothly thus far; something they wanted to maintain as long as possible.
so once again, girls tried to find dates while the boys saved up on cash for dinner and corsages. students quickly formed big groups to go with and have fun at the dance. others have been gossiping about which after party they were going to... or which one they were invited to.
but it's the first official academy event that needs to start out, or end in a bang. because if this homecoming isn't as crazy as last year's then this could possibly determine the rest of the year and we already no that crazy blogger following some of the students around isn't going to like a boring school. so, time to grab your date, your friend, or yourself and head on down to the academy and start having some fun.
- - - - - - - - - note: another equally lame intro. i can't win. a reminder that we had posted in the info thread for this: it might be easier to not post as much as we usually do. to quickly get through posts, complete plots, and keep the thread active, you can post lower than the usual 1000+ word count, but not lower than the site's 600 word min. thanks and have fun =D

SOPHIE. PERSEPHONE. HAYES.( EVERY SECOND COUNTS )( ON A CLOCK THAT'S TICKING, GOT TO LIVE LIKE WE'RE DYING ) ----SHE USE TO JUMP school to school. or sometimes, she was just homeschooling it. being a model, traveling around the world. valkyrie had been her way of... being a normal teenager. that ensued sophie to go to her very first high school dance. yes, she was a senior. she knew she was probably just as excited to go to this dance as freshmen who were barely breaking fourteen. she felt great since she returned to valkyrie and everything was sorted out with milo. she told him one day that he was taking her to her homecoming so he should pick her up at the condo around seven to go out to dinner followed by going to the dance. sophie had seen enough american high school movies to know that this sort of was like a big deal to people. the dresses, the dates, the music. the naive senior was so elated nothing could mar her mood.
that was until the morning of, she woke up feeling sick to her stomach. petros took it as a sign for her not to go with milo in which she told him that was ridiculous because she was going to this dance even if she had a temperature. but, it was really her stomach that was causing her problems. she took some pepto to maybe settle it as she started getting ready. in greece, sophie sort of chopped off her long hair so it was slightly hard for her to style it, but she swept it up anyways. put in her long earrings that matched the 'disco-ball' type dress. or, at least that was what petros called it. black tights and high heels, sophie made sure she was finished at least a half hour early. because finishing her make-up or whatnot when milo came wouldn't be such a good idea since petros was on the premises. and even so, when there was a knock on the door, sophie beat her brother to the door and slipped out, not even inviting him in but started already dragging him down the hall as petros yelled from the doorway that if he hurt her, he would kill him. typical older brother trash talk. sophie reassured milo that he wouldn't and also informed him that she wasn't feeling the greatest but they weren't leaving for anything.
at dinner, she didn't eat as much, because her stomach was feeling queasy again but she told herself she was probably just nervous and that she'd feel better once they were at the dance. by the time the two got to the academy, the parking lot was already packed with a lot of cars. she held milo's hand tightly as they got inside, showed their tickets, and followed the long stream of kids to the gym. "i'm so excited, aren't you? this has seriously been the best night so far." she gushed as she squeezed his hand and edged herself closer to him. they weren't even inside yet and sophie knew she was going to have the best time. she was wearing a pretty dress, she was back in america, and she was with her boyfriend, milo. with her adrenaline up, she temporarily forgot about her upset stomach. they reached the doors to the gym that were propped open displaying to all the students the dark interior and flashing lights.
the dancefloor was already packed with kids dancing to a britney song. sophie's eyes twinkled like a child's face on christmas day. yes, it was the new things that amazed her. her first high school dance. better late than never, wouldn't you think? "so i want to dance." she stated to him. she left his side and stood in front of him. she reached out and held both of his hands now. sophie didn't know if he would use that lame excuse like, 'i can't dance.' because she could see milo saying something like that. "don't worry about that actual dancing part. trust me, from what i read and tv shows i watched, they don't really dance anyway. just kind of sway back and forth and bounce to the beat." she started pulling him towards her as she walked backwards towards the mob of students dancing. she smiled as she stopped but continued pulling him towards her. since she was wearing heels, she wasn't as short as she usually was to him. it didn't take much for her to put her cheek to his and whisper in his ear, "thanks. for taking me. i'm really glad we came."

( MILO FREDERICK ELLIS )VALKYRIE ACADEMY GYM, SEPTEMBER 15, 2007, EVENINGi'll follow you for any cause i'll fight for you in any wars and all to say that i am yours. . . . . . . milo ellis was not the same person he had been the day he had first set foot on valkryie soil. that day, he had been a guy who was pretty much completely afraid of life, with very little confidence and a trademark stutter. today, he was a guy who was still a little afraid of life (and he figured that he was only being sensible here; for anyone to claim that life wasn't scary in the least seemed, to milo, quite illogical), and who could now walk into a public place without feeling self conscious unless given an explicit reason to, as well as carry on an entire conversation without stammering so hard that he ran the risk of creating fissures in his jaw. the changes had been subtle and slow moving, and he was pretty sure he could trace them all back to when he and sophie hayes-castellanos, the most beautiful and wonderful girl in the world, had started going out. some things had just started to fall into a place after that. his stutter had slowly begun to dissipate, which had inspired him to start focusing on speaking clearly, which had helped a lot. and so many of the things that had previously scared the crap out of them had just lost their bite. he now really didn't care if his peers thought him pathetic and no longer felt the need to retreat within his shell at the slightest provocation. life just felt more natural and less like some sort of punishment. he was happy now, the happiest he had been since he was a kid, he was pretty sure.
he was also a college student now, attending vu (it wasn't nearly as psychologically scarring as he had anticipated it would be; university was, in fact, turning out to be insanely better than high school), though he was still living at home with his aunt, uncle and cousin. however, on the night of september the fifteenth of 2007, he still found himself getting ready for the high school dance being held in the gym of the academy that evening. and it was because sophie was still a senior in high school and had never been to a school dance before, so she was very much looking forward to attending this one. artie had helped him pick out his tux and assured him that he looked quite dashing in it after he had put it on. that was actually pretty much the extent of his "getting ready", besides making sure his hair didn't look too insane. he then slunk out of the house with the keys to his uncle's car, intent on avoiding his aunt, who he knew would want to make a fuss over how he looked like such a gentleman or something like that. he felt a little bad that he was leaving artemis to go through that along with her mother, but he figured that she was tough and would be able to take car of herself. he arrived at the hayes condo and knocked on the door with a little bit of trepidation, hoping that it wouldn't be petros answering the door, because he didn't feel like dealing with death threats at the moment. thankfully it was sophie who opened the door, and she slipped out immediately, without inviting him inside or anything. good. she dragged him down the hallway, though petros was still able to get his two cents in from where he stood in the doorway. so much for trying to make it a death threat free night. sophie then told him that petros would probably not actually kill him, which milo was a bit skeptical about, and informed him that she felt a little under the weather, but it wasn't an excuse to miss the dance. dang. just his luck.
dinner was good, of course, because sophie was there, and the time passed quickly and soon they were on the grounds of valkyrie academy, approaching the gym. it felt weird to be back here, knowing he wasn't a student. really, just weird. kind of almost gave him the creeps. "i'm so excited, aren't you? this has seriously been the best night so far." she squeezed his hand and milo returned it, then wrapped his arm around her shoulders. he couldn't say he was very excited to be here or anything, he would have much rather stayed in and watched a movie or something, but this was making sophie so happy, so he was fine with it. so he simply said, "yeah." the gym had been transformed into a world of flashing lights, loud music, and dancing students. milo again felt just how weird it was to be back here, seeing some of the kids who had been underclassmen to him last year, dancing away and huddled in groups, possibly gossiping about who was going to spike the punch. milo had barely had the change to take it all in before sophie was standing in front of him, about to speak. "so i want to dance." oh man. milo had been kind of hoping, though he knew that, knowing sophie, it was very much in vain, that he would be able to get through the evening without dancing. hah. he opened his mouth to use that half assed "i can't dance" excuse, but sophie beat him to the punch. "don't worry about that actual dancing part. trust me, from what i read and tv shows i watched, they don't really dance anyway. just kind of sway back and forth and bounce to the beat." he smiled crookedly. dancing was apparently a neglected art in high school these days, that was pretty true. "okay. if i must." she pulled him forward, toward the mad throngs of dancing students. once they had lost themselves within the mob, he wrapped his arms around her waist and she brought her head up towards his to whisper in his ear. "thanks. for taking me. i'm really glad we came." he smiled and kissed the top of her head. "no problem. i didn't want to deny you the chance to get excited at a chance to get all dressed up." he paused. "you look beautiful, i mentioned that, right?"
