A big, king size bed with fluffy sheets and a fluffy comforter, mountains of pillows on said enormous bed, and of course the luxury of lying in it at any time time you damn well pleased, unless your name was Emily Blackburn, then you didn't get the luxury of staying in bed as long as you wanted, whenever you wanted. Hell, she did need the sleep, she was up all night, most nights. She wasn't really a partier, but she was someone who liked to stay up all night doing absolutely nothing before realizing it was 5 o'clock in the morning and that maybe she should go to bed and get some sleep, and then, finally, she would wake up a couple hours later at whatever time she was required to be up for the day. It worked out nicely.
The bed was messy, white sheets were everywhere, some of the pillows had ended up on the floor, and from under the covers, a head of messy hair could be seen just from under the duvet, where a hand was holding it over the sleeping person's face. Emily had rolled, only temporarily waking up, and yanked the covers up over her face to block out the sun. Who needed sun so early in the morning? Not her, that was for sure, as she snored on, though the sun was shining in and lighting up the whole room. She was just dead to the world. The girl could sleep through a damn bomb going off in her room, and had slept through many a hurricane visiting her grandparents in Florida growing up. Not to mention one of the shuttle landings that could often be heard there in the middle of the night all the way in Tampa. She'd never heard one, even though they tended to rattle the windows. Or the fact that she had probably slept through a few earthquakes in her time
The iPhone sitting on the nightstand next to her bed went off. It seemed electronic noises were the ones that always tended to wake her up. All of her alarm clocks always had to be digital, so the electronic noises would actually wake her up. Making angry noises as she stirred, she rolled over, taking the sheets with her, curling into a ball while pillows fell off the bed. Sighing to herself, she got comfortable once again and froze as her phone beeped at her once again. Grumbling and very upset, she reached out of the warm covers, patted around on the bedside table and pulled it under the covers, squinting as she was blinded and her eyes harassed from the light.
Emily Blackburn, get up. You've got to be at work in a while, babe.
It took her a moment to get her mind to work as she realized it was from a friend and coworker of hers at the Starbucks. Well, at least it was her interrupting her sleep after a late night of screwing around on her piano watching a few Star Wars movies back to back. Stretching, she groaned, and dropped the phone on her tank top covered abdomen, arching her back and sighing as it slipped from her body, out from under the sheets, and landed on the floor. She sunk back into the mattress, slowly letting her mind come back around to the fact that she was wanted up and at 'em and down at the Starbucks to get some work done, give some overpriced coffees to snobby morons, and earn a pay cheuqe. Finally, she pushed the covers back and reached down to grab her phone, sending off a quick text back to her; You're a lucky fool. I'll be there in a bit.
Within twenty minutes, Emily was up and dressed in her most comfortable pair of black work pants, work t-shirt, and her most comfortable work shoes with a light amount of makeup on her face, sticking her sunglasses on her face as she grabbed her purse and her keys and headed out the door, trying to pull her hair up in a pony tail, but failing at making it look nice. It was still too early for neat hair or an overly made up face. Much too early. Walking out, she headed out to the car, hopped in, and headed the short distance to Starbucks, pulling into the lot, parking it at the front and grinning to herself at her badass luck at getting that spot, and in the morning! Fantastic. She was just going to ignore that as an employee, she was not meant to be parking there. Glancing at the time she frowned. She didn't have to be there for quite a while. They were just...ugh. How she hated people sometimes.
Walking into the shop, she pulled off her sunglasses and threw them into her ridiculously huge tote bag hanging off her shoulder, spotting Kaden almost immediately. Grinning, and looking very much like she hadn't just rolled out of bed, she made her way over toward his table. "Good morning, Kaden," she chirpped and swooped down in the chair across from him, grabbing one of the muffins rubbing her eyes and yawning again. "You're a doll, seriously," she commented, taking a huge bite out of the muffin, sighing, and putting a hand up over her mouth as to not show off what she was chewing. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - LITTLE DARLING, I FEEL THAT ICE IS SLOWLY MELTING little darling, it seems like years since it's been clear - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - tagged; Kaden =D lyrics; here comes the sun by the beatles listening to; American Eulogy by Green Day word count; 912 credit; to brooke from caution; banner by PRETTY GIRL ! @ caution

"Thanks," she muttered again, grabbing it by the handle and lifting it up to her mouth taking a tiny sip to assess the temperature. Deciding it was too hot yet, she set it back down and took another bite out of her muffin, this time smaller and easier to eat in a more civilized manner.
"I know, I look fabulous," she agreed jokingly, looking down at her outfit. "One of my very sweet coworkers texted me way too early, I'm not supposed to even be here for quite a while, so...you're lucky I even got dressed and put makeup on," Em informed him with a slight grin and informaning nod of her head. "You look pretty hot, yourself," she added, gesturing with a nod in his direction, flicking her eyes to infer his appearance. But on the contrary, he had actually woken up and gotten dressed that day, whereas she really hadn't.
She had never been the stuck up sort of girl that was too good to show up in less than fahsionable clothes, too good to eat properly in public, and so pompous and self-important that she felt the need to put up a perfectly polished, ice queen exterior. Rather, she was the type to offer a smile and used terms of endearment and pet names on absolutely everyone. She had grown up in Los Angeles, she knew more than her fair share of those girls, and she had always vowed never to become like that. Even though she was rather spoiled being the youngest child, and accident, to a rather wealthy couple, she wasn't the girl that was going to suffer from a superiorty complex. She quite imagined she'd get her ass beat down good by her parents if she had ever tried to act in such a way toward other people.
Catching his smile across the table at her, Emily smiled back. Luckily for her and her hunger, quiet moments between them were always quite comfortable, a top sign of being very, very comfortable with the person you were with. So close to each other that they didn't even need to speak, although speaking was often more entertaining than silence. Emily just wasn't the type for silence. It freaked her out, in all honesty.
"Don't I always?" she remarked with a smirk, picking her mug back up and sipping from it slowly. Coffee was actually sort of gross, but it had caffeine, and she needed it like people need to breathe in oxygen and keep their bodies nourished.
Emily's eyes flicked up to Kaden as he told her that she should have gone over to see him, that they could have had a study session. Her stomach twisted slightly in her belly and there was a single butterfly for a moment. Sure, those feelings were entirely inappropriate when applied to one's own best friend, but it wasn't something she could help. Granted, it also wasn't something most people would be able to understand, but she knew him in ways that they didn't and more than likely, probably never would.
In Emily's mind, Kade was someone who was...well...she certainly wasn't under any impression that he was perfect, but he was still amazing. Underneath what everyone else saw, she saw a guy that was caring and fun and smart and funny. She saw him as a shoulder to cry on, a source of protection, and someone she was sure she could always count on. Other people thought what they did of him only because they were shallow, judgmental fools, in her own opinion. The only thing she saw that wasn't overly amazing was the fact that he just seemed to be stuck in a rut, that was all. But she was confident he'd get out of it. She simply adored him. As friend and then some. The 'and then some', however, was a bit of a secret.
"A study session?" she repeated, sounding quite scandalized and revolted by the idea. Studying was not her idea of fun, and she wasn't even all that academically oriented. She just...showed up and did well, because she wanted a job and to not be in deep shit with her parents, which was always nice. "Baby, I love going to see you, but studying is where I draw the line." She motioned her hand in a 'drawing the line' sort of motion, with a big smile on her face and a soft laugh. Sitting back to look at him, she shook her head, eyes lit up with amusment.
After a moment, the current blonde shrugged her slender shoulders, making a scrunched up face. "I was finishing up a new piece that I've been working on for a while, actually," she told him, referring to a piece of music that she had been working on. Emily was a music composition major and the type of girl that always walked around with her head in the clouds, but her feet still planted firmly on the ground. Idealistic with enough realizm to function and keep others in check. "It actually turned out much better than I expected," she gushed, nodding her head enthusiastically, taking another bite of her food and another sip of caffeine, aka God's gift to the world.
"Oh! we could totally hang out today or tonight, once I get off work," Emily said abruptly, slamming her hand down on the table and using the other hand to tuck a strand of long blonde hair behind her ear. "You're not busy, are you? I don't know like...what we could do, or anything, but I'm sure we would have fun throwing rocks at a boulder or watching pain dry," she added with a grin and chuckle, illustrating that no matter what she did with him, she always seemed to have a blast doing so. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - LITTLE DARLING, I FEEL THAT ICE IS SLOWLY MELTING little darling, it seems like years since it's been clear - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - tagged; Kaden =D lyrics; here comes the sun by the beatles listening to; shuffling papers and annoying mumbling by co-workers word count; 976 credit; to brooke from caution; banner by PRETTY GIRL ! @ caution
