HAIR COLOR: natural blonde. she does dye it brown sometimes.
EYE COLOR: bright blue.
HEIGHT: 5'4
WEIGHT: 90 pounds
BODY TYPE: quite petite. she's recently lost a lot of weight due to the cancer treatment and depression so she looks very fragile these days and is very skinny.
DISTINGUISHED FEATURES: very big blue eyes that can capture anyone's attention, her hair is always a stunning feature whether it is light blonde or chocolate brown. She knows how to style it.
PERSONAL STYLE: Bridgette always has a very stylish appearance. She loves dresses and pretty blouses and skirts and will always turn to those over pants and jeans any day. Recently however, due to her cancer, she doesn't always have much energy to look her best and is more likely to be seen wearing whatever she picks up from her wardrobe. Bridgette is very fashion-conscious and always has been so she tends to follow the latest trends but makes sure to put her own unique spin on it.
OTHER: she is very conscious of the scar on her neck (a result of her cancer operation) and wears scarves nearly all the time, no matter what the weather. She tries to hide her neck at all times.
IN YOUR MOUTH, IN YOUR SOUL ,
CHARACTER PERSONALITY ,
the more we move ahead the more we're stuck in rewind
STRENGTHS: very confident, highly trained several forms of dancing, does what she can to win, works well under pressure, ambitious, good at public speaking,
WEAKNESSES: chocolate, self conscious about her cancer, anyone who says they have a great part for her on broadway, the big lights of broadway, applause,
LIKES: singing, musicals, broadway, being up on stage, all eyes on her, compliments, having fun, cigarettes, ignoring the fact that she's ill, parties, attention, hot guys, roller-coasters, adrenaline rushes, broadway tunes, chocolate, applause, having people talk about her, her laptop, scarves, headbands, ABBA, dancing around in her room without any judgments, reading her performance reviews, her iPhone, mandarins, good mascara, after parties, philosophy, making new friends through theatre,
DISLIKES: her father, insults, being told she isn't good enough, being pressured to speak, bad choreography, singing really high notes, being interrupted, pineapples, homophobics, hospitals, having competition, losing, rap music, people who don't understand Broadway, stuck-up performers, bad directors, paparazzi, the 'c' word, oranges, clumpy mascara, hangovers, doctors, sympathy, this whole twilight craze, fantasy novels, the blonde stereotype, having to sign everything to her translator so they can say what she wants to, not having a voice,
FLAWS: extremely critical of herself, now has a scar on her neck from the surgery, very selfish, insecure, very withdrawn ever since the cancer diagnosis and even more so since the depression sunk in, quite the little drama queen,
HABITS: fidgets with her fingernails when she's stressed, also bites her nails, watches musicals when she can't sleep, has to read all the reviews on her performances even if they are bad, still goes to speak unintentionally when people talk to her but then remembers and has to mime or write out what she wants to say (unless her sign translator is around),
SECRETS: Tries to make herself talk every night but can't bring herself to make a sound.
Sabotaged another girl's audition for a part that Bridgette wanted by switching her CD to a very inappropriate song when she was fifteen.
Barely remembers her mum anymore but misses her incredibly.
BEST MEMORY: bridgette's best memory was her first night performing on broadway in front of a massive audience. No one really knew who she was but they all went home raving about her amazing performance. She didn't have a lead role but her lines and delivery definitely stood out to people and as she stepped forward for her applause, the rush she got from everyone cheering her name and screaming was just exhilarating.
WORST MEMORY: without a doubt, bridgette's worst memory is that awful day at the hospital when she was officially diagnosed with laryngeal cancer. she had been expecting perhaps a minor throat infection or a cold or something insignificant but instead, the doctor folded his hands on the desk with a very serious expression on his face before saying those awful words: 'you have cancer'. nothing else beats that horrible memory and bridgette actually doesn't quite remember what happened after that because she went into shut-down mode, refusing to react to the news, refusing to process it until later on in her room when she was free to cry alone.
OVERALL PERSONALITY:
attention please!
Something that is extremely obvious in Bridgette's personality is her love for the spotlight. Ever since she could walk, Bridgette has been totting around her lounge rooms to the beat of whatever music was playing and ever since she could talk she was babbling along to the songs on the radio. You know the kids that you see and just know that they're destined for something special because they have that 'spark'? Yeah, that's Bridgette. She just has that presence and that look that makes people give her double takes and if she starts talking, for some reason people are always inclined to listen to what she has to say. Not that she can talk much anymore but before the cancer this was certainly the case. Although she never really had a say in her career, it seems that she suits the spotlight just fine. Bridgette can be quite private too though and tends to stay away from paparazzi. That isn't the type of spotlight she's after. Bridgette wants people to leave her shows raving about her to all of their friends. Sure, the occasional paparazzi may catch her out and she's more than happy to chat but she's glad she's not in Hollywood. The Broadway stage gives her just enough spotlight to keep her satisfied and to keep her fans happy too.
self-critical.
As a result of having a very critical and strict father when it came to performing, Bridgette has become extremely critical of herself as well. She always reads all the reviews of her performances and watches everything back if it's been taped. This is all fine except while she does this, Bridgette spends the entire time criticizing herself. She picks out the smallest flaws like how long she pauses between words, the tiniest slip in a dance number and even the way she speaks her lines can be all wrong in Bridgette's eyes. She'll often get quite down about this too for several days until someone snaps her out of it and reminds her to look at the positives. Even then though, Bridgette finds it hard to find good things about herself since her father has unintentionally drilled it into her that she will never be good enough. She's aware that she looks a lot like her mother and that's probably why her dad pushes her so much because she is a constant reminder of Alicia's last wishes. Still, being extremely critical about herself is quite the downer. She can give the best performance and win a Tony and she still shakes her head and points out several flaws in every performance.
competitive.
Bridgette is also extremely competitive when it comes to the stage, and well anything else actually. Whenever she sets her eyes on a goal, she'll do whatever it takes to take it and if she has competition then she'll take them down. Bridgette hates the idea that others could be better than her and she knows that some of them probably are but that doesn't make her any less deserving of the roles she auditions for. Watching Bridgette before an audition is always fairly amusing because the first thing she does is size up everyone else in the room. If there's anyone who could pose a threat she'll often go up and talk to them and try to psyche them out. Funnily enough, this tactic has actually worked multiple times. It helps that she has a lot of experience in theatre and performing so she can use this to make the other girls feel inferior. Of course if this doesn't work she's happy to do what she has to do to sabotage other girls. She'll switch cds to inappropriate songs, stick her foot out and trip girls, offer to share some chocolate which of course is a big no-no before singing or even bag them out to the casting directors. Sure she may be completely lying but Bridgette has a way of sounding very convincing when she wants to be.
immature.
Now let's get this last bit straight. Bridgette isn't immature in the sense of the word that people usually think. She doesn't act childishly and run around super hyper all of the time. She doesn't giggle at stupid toilet humour jokes either. Bridgette just struggles with responsibility and a lot of other adult concepts since she never really got the proper chance to grow up. Bridgette has spent basically her entire life doing whatever her father told her to do. Or whatever the stage director commands. She's never really had a chance to make her own decisions. As soon as Bridgette started to really make a name for herself on stage, her dad made himself her manager and basically decided all of the roles she would go for and get. Bridgette didn't really get a say and still doesn't. She barely even got a decision on how to handle the cancer situation and it definitely wasn't her choice to end up in Valkyrie. Bridgette follows orders. It's what she has been trained to do and it's just instinct now but it means that if she is ever alone, she really struggles on figuring out what to do. She is a little like a child who just sits around waiting to be told what's next and lately it seems like no one else really has any answers for her.

LIVING SITUATION: valks but currently a patient in valkyrie hospital. Doesn't leave the hospital much any more due to her condition.
HISTORY:
The year was 1986 and Alicia Stevens was just a small actress trying to make it big which seemed nearly impossible. Little plays and pantomimes in downtown New York were all she could really get but it paid the rent and was slowly getting her name known in more places. Adam Halliwell didn't have a career plan. He just took whatever he could get to pay his way through college and university so any job was a good job. His ideal job was a doctor but he simply didn't have the patience to go through with it so he'd ended up dropping out of college. Eventually he found himself working as a lighting technician's assistant in a theatre in New York. This lead him to meet one of the most beautiful girls he'd ever met. After the show, Adam made sure to go and introduce himself to Alicia Stevens and immediately asked her out. She was just a young girl and the fact that a guy was interested was enough for her so a week later, they headed out for coffee which resulted in several more dates and eventually a marriage proposal and a wedding. It happened extremely quickly, all in the span of about six months. Adam certainly didn't wait around when it came to meeting the girl he had decided was the love of his life, and Alicia was thrilled that someone was taking an interest in her and not just on stage. It had been a while since she'd had a boyfriend, much less a fiance.
After the very quick wedding, Alicia fell pregnant not long after. Yes, Adam and Alicia were the couple who wanted to start their family and life together right away. They had fallen in love very quickly but very deeply so there was no chance of a accidental wedding and divorce. They were in it for the long haul. Alicia almost missed the signs of her pregnancy, having been quite busy with a new role that had popped up. It was pretty good, paid well, and had the potential to really get her noticed. Adam was stoked for her too until one morning during rehearsals, Alicia found herself bolting to the bathroom and throwing up for no particular reason. This happened a few times so she finally went to the doctor and discovered there was a little baby growing inside her. This was a shock but she was very happy about it. Alicia continued to perform though to help pay the rent. After a few months, a new, bigger role popped up, specifically asking for Alicia. This was it. This was her moment to shine and become famous. It was now. Problem. Alicia was having a tough pregnancy and was due soon so she did the most heartbreaking thing she'd ever done. She turned down her big break for her baby. This was a big deal to her and she spent many hours up late thinking about it but the fact was she couldn't keep up her acting and have a healthy pregnancy at the same time and right now a baby was more important. There would be other big breaks.
Roughly eight or so months later, Adam woke up at three am to find his wife standing beside the toilet screaming about her water breaking. He rushed her to hospital and a few painful hours later, Alicia gave birth to a beautiful baby girl later to be named Bridgette Nicole Halliwell. The perfect name for a star as her parents both agreed. As soon as Bridgette was born she was automatically deemed a star and her parents spoiled her to pieces, especially her mother who wanted to give her everything that she'd given up for herself. If she couldn't be a famous actress, then her daughter could be instead. Luckily Bridgette was quite happy with this idea and adored the spotlight at a very young age. As soon as she could walk her parents threw her into dance lessons of all kind. By the time she was four she was doing ballet, tap, jazz and contemporary lessons nearly every day. Not to mention she was put into acting school at the age of four too. On top of dealing with the usual things children go through, Bridgette definitely had her hands full but she learned to cope with it all quite easily. Eventually Bridgette thrived on it and she found that the multiple pressures on her just helped her to push herself toward success.
Unfortunately tragedy struck the Halliwell family when Bridgette was just five years old. Her mother had driven down to pick Bridgette up from her Thursday night tap dancing lessons and she got a phone call from her old agent asking her if she was still interested in acting because a role had just come up. Alicia was so excited by the prospects of resurrecting her career that she stopped paying so much attention to the road and we all know where this is leading. Sure enough, another car pulled out in front of her and Alicia just didn't see it in time. She was going fairly fast so the collision was pretty brutal. The ambulance was called immediately and Alicia and the other driver were both taken to the emergency ward of the local hospital. Bridgette had to go to her friend from dancing's house since the hospital was no place for a five year old but as soon as Adam heard, he was at the hospital in a heart beat. But irony has it, just as Adam arrived, Alicia's heartbeat stopped. She received pretty bad head trauma and it was just too much for the doctors. There was nothing they could do. But one of the nurses told Adam that the last thing Alicia told them to tell Adam that a) She loved him and b) to make sure Bridgette got her chance to be a star unlike Alicia. So what did Adam do? He made sure his deceased wife got her final wish. Bridgette's dance classes were doubled, her dad made her practice extra hard, doubling her practice hours after school. By the age of seven she was going to dance class for roughly two hours a day and then rehearsing back at home for another three or four, depending on what she needed to work on. And don't forget the singing lessons which started at eight years old and only made everything even more hectic.
So life went on for Bridgette and her dad without Alicia and Mr Halliwell became a stage-dad. He was almost worse than the stage-mums and in some ways he was. He was extremely critical of his young daughter and forced her to do the best she could possibly do. She didn't have much time for a social life because of this so she really didn't make many friends as a young girl. She was too busy practicing her dancing and singing and acting to worry about having friends over and too dedicated to being a star to worry about the latest Barbie dolls. By the time she was ten she started getting some roles with her local theatre company. It started off with just little background characters but soon she began getting some bigger and better roles with actual lines and blocking and scenes and rehearsing. It was exciting and the first time Bridgette got out onto the stage and heard the applause for her, she became addicted. She began auditioning for any part possible in all the acting groups nearby and her roles got more and more significant. Eventually when she was twelve years old she scored the lead role of Annie in a major production of Annie in an off-Broadway theatre. She was super excited and performed her little butt off every night. One night, luck was in her favour. There happened to be a few Broadway producers doing some talent scouting who came to watch her show. They liked what they saw and spoke to her after the show. Everything happened pretty quickly after that. Before she knew it, Bridgette was the next big star in Broadway. As she got older she got more impressive roles but at just fifteen years of age she played Wendla in Spring Awakening which really helped people take her seriously. You may have also seen her as the lead role in big musicals such as Hairspray, Mamma Mia (her favourite so far, partly because she had a minor fling with her co-star), West Side Story and several more well known performances.
There was a problem brewing though. Despite the fact that Bridgette's Broadway career was taking off like a rocket and everyone seemed to love her, she was slowly suffocating. Her entire life was becoming even more controlled than it had ever been. Her father appointed himself as her manager so he had even more control over her life, deciding what roles she would take and where her career was heading. She was being told what to eat, where to go and when and barely had any time to herself. At sixteen years old this was not a nice feeling. Plus a lot of people from school were all out living their lives and she felt the isolation. She didn't like it. So Bridgette began to find ways to rebel. She started to make more of an effort to make new friends and started hanging out with these new friends more, even skipping rehearsals to do so. This lead to her being punished of course but now she was finally feeling something she hadn't in a long time. The thrill of rebellion. It was fun so she kept at it and before you know it she was out partying all the time. She still treasured her career though so she made sure to show up to rehearsals even if she was still hungover or God forbid still drunk. After reading a review about one of her performances that stated she was 'lacking something' though made her cut down slightly. She kept the partying to times when she wasn't desperately needed for rehearsals. It didn't matter though. The partying was only the beginning of her problems. See, during this time, Bridgette picked up a nasty smoking habit. Initially it was only at parties with chain-smoking and all that but she started smoking outside of the parties too. Her father was furious of course, terrified that she could get lung cancer and die and there goes his income since he didn't work anymore. He needed his daughter to be a star, for his sake and for the sake of his deceased wife. He warned Bridgette time and time again that smoking was going to give her bad consequences but of course Bridgette ignored him. What did her dad know? So her voice was a little huskier now, who cares? In fact she managed to pull off the husky-voice quite nicely.
So time went on and Bridgette continued to smoke, enjoying the compliments on her husky tones when she sang up on stage. At the young age of nineteen she was a Broadway star so nothing else really mattered to her. Being the compulsive self-critic that she was, Bridgette got her hands on any review of her performances that she could and took on board nearly every piece of advice. She craved the applause and the attention. Of course she wasn't paparazzi famous but that wasn't the kind of fame she was after. Bridgette just loved coming out of the stage door after a show and having fans run up to her, swooning over her. But remember that husky voice? Well it kept getting husker to the point of hoarse. Then she developed a cough over the summer which refused to go away. Of course Bridgette kept ignoring this too. It was just a cough. She was probably just run down from all of her intense performances. However when her make up artist noticed a suspicious lump on her neck and brought it up, Bridgette finally dragged herself to the doctor. She then went under a series of tests and exams. She didn't panic though. It was probably some weird infection but Bridgette trusted the doctors to find the right antibiotic to fix her. She'd be fine.
She was wrong. Eventually the doctors had a diagnosis and called her in with her dad. Adam had considered the possibility of cancer but he, like Bridgette remained optimistic. But then the doctor folded his hands on the table, gave Bridgette and Adam a grave look and uttered those deadly words, "Miss Halliwell, I'm afraid you have Laryngeal cancer." Bridgette went into shock mode after that. It was impossible to digest. She was Broadway's big star. She was set to make her big movie musical break soon. Things were supposed to be going right. Cancer wasn't part of this plan. Cancer didn't fit in with Bridgette's life and it was impossible to fit it into the equation but there was no way around it. Being the little trooper that she is though, Bridgette was determined to get better. She thought everything through, talked to her father for hours, phoned every doctor and specialist she knew for advice and finally began the road to recovery. This meant pulling out of her current role of Louise in 'Gypsy', handing over the role over to her understudy while she began treatment. This was no fun ride. She undertook surgery several times despite knowing it could affect her voice and began chemotherapy as well. During the treatments, she was advised to speak as little as possible to allow her voice to recover quickly. Bridgette took this advice quite literally and as a result she hasn't spoken a word in about two years now. Of course she spoke briefly after the first treatment began but she was shocked by the sound of her wounded voice that she clammed up and refuses to speak for anyone. She's learned sign language now, as did her father and they have a sign translator with her nearly full time now to help her communicate with others but it's tough. Bridgette has tried to speak, sometimes in the middle of the night when no one is around but she simply can't bring herself to say anything now.
But that's not the worst of it. After a year of continuous treatment in and out of hospital, Bridgette was eventually diagnosed with Depression. She refused to get out bed for several weeks because she was so exhausted and although this was initially looked over since fatigue was an effect of chemotherapy, she never got any better and began showing more symptoms of depression. Once she was diagnosed with this, it only made things worse. She'd been making great progress with the chemotherapy and was preparing to be cleared of any signs of cancer which was going to be a great relief. But after she became officially diagnosed with depression as well and found out, her body seemed to slowly shut down as though it was giving up. At her next chemotherapy session, the doctors noticed that her body didn't seem to be responding as it had been before. In fact, it was barely responding at all. The doctors called every hospital and specialist they could think of in the country, searching for answers and a solution. They adjusted the dosages, ran more tests but it seemed impossible. Finally Valkyrie Hospital responded with the news that they had some specialists who believed they could help. So that was it. Bridgette was transferred across to Valkyrie Hospital to undergo more treatment and she was not happy about this. Plus she was on limited medication for the depression because of the risk that it could affect her chemotherapy. All she can do now is wait for someone to find an answer. Her father came along to Valkyrie to stay by her side but he isn't at the hospital as much so she gets quite lonely. Meanwhile she's terrified that the cancer could make a return and she might not make it this time. She's come a long way from the bright eyed and peppy Broadway star Bridgette Halliwell of just a few years ago. Now she's just all skin and bone with a half-dead look in her eyes. The spark has officially gone out.
