----THE ONLY THING THAT SEPARATED RAOUL CORINTHOS from the rest of the people he worked with was that he had a visa. his employer's were actually surprised when raoul showed them that yes, he was legally in this country. it alarmed him that he actually had to remind them if they needed to see it. of course, he was actually really confused at the time why they seemed not to care. first say on the job, he knew what was up. raoul was hired at la fleur violette. a rather ritzy and fancy restaurant. the mexican boy of twenty was here as a bus boy. picking up the dishes and taking them back to the kitchen... the kitchen which was about eighty percent mexican. nice, america. nothing like hiring a bunch of illegal immigrants to serve the precious rich people of the city. he was also hired as part of la fleur violette's catering service. though he had yet to attend some party with a plate of caviar set up on his hand, he was waiting for what would probably be the funniest day of his life.
he had been in america for about a month. keeping low, off the map. considering that his brother and his two half-sisters had set up shop here, raoul wasn't planning on running into one of them. at least not yet. he'd been working a lot. raoul was all about making his own money. he didn't want any of his father's drug money to support him whatsoever. not that the great juan sr. would have lent the forgotten son any money as he moved to america. in fact, when he told his father that he was going to america juan told him he should be useful and bring his brother back. it was always like that for raoul. when talking to his father, it was inevitable that raoul's older brother, (by like a year) j.r. would be brought up into the conversation. once again, raoul just flat-out refused what his father told him to do and when he got to america, he didn't do shit. he'd see his dear old brother eventually though, since in january, when the semester starts back up again at valkyrie university, raoul corinthos will be a student.
though he swore off from being any type of solider for his father's army, raoul did have a few investigative skills he picked up over the years and before long, it wasn't hard for raoul to creep on his siblings. like j.r. doing nothing in the least bit interesting. maggie though was causing just as much trouble here in valkyrie as she had been back in tijuana. she went from dealing to associating herself with a giovanni. later, he found out she was engaged to him. though they both shared a father, they weren't ever really close, and raoul wouldn't say anything like he knew her. but, at least back in tijuana she seemed a little too... free to get engaged to someone, being she was younger than him. to say he came for the education would be a complete lie. raoul was sick of being the forgotten one. the one who never got any love as a child. the one who was always in second place, never good enough. raoul definitely had himself a sinister side. he came to cause some trouble. and trouble was exactly what he did. he called some... old acquaintances to his family. he called the castillos. took awhile and a lot of people, to talk to someone with a little more authority in the castillo drug cartel. he gave a tip. that juan corinthos sr's drug-dealing daughter was in valkyrie, california. he told them to do what they wanted with the information and now he had been hearing whispers about some of them in town. guess he could now just sit back and watch everything go boom.
he'd been working at la fleur's violette for about three week now and somehow he had managed to befriend about fifty percent of the said eighty percent of mexicans he worked with. one of which was manny. he was raoul's age, twenty, but was a few inches shorter, bald, and had facial hair. he was a bus boy with raoul and he pretty much told raoul that he was going to be his boy. that night, they had gotten shit-faced at the beach and nearly got picked up at the cops for public intox. raoul deemed manny a good one. he still had been showing raoul around valkyrie a lot. telling him places he had to go and the places they should stay away from. "don't go to any of those high school beach parties, man. the girls are hot, but they are more trouble than they are worth. they charged a boy of mine with sexual harassment. be careful raoul, the mamacitas here will cut you. they are el problema, amigo." well, raoul definitely liked trouble.
tonight it had been a slow night. there was more downtime where raoul was back in the kitchen screwing around with manny and some others. sucked though, because tonight raoul was on clean-up duty. he had to say after the restaurant closed to help clean the tables and sweep the floors. every night a few employees were instructed to stay. according to their employers, they didn't care if you were a hostess or a chef, everyone should learn how to clean up after everyone's messed. the only plus side of this was that they got paid extra. though he had been working here for a few weeks now, la fleur violette must have quite a bit of waitresses, because while he was clearing a table, he noticed a blonde girl pass him. he knew it was a waitress because of what she was wearing. well, shit. who the hell was she? maybe manny would know? he piled the left over dishes into the tub he was carrying around and sprayed the table down quickly and started wiping it up. he looked around the restaurant, surveying that there weren't many parties left in the dining area, and all of them looked to be wrapping things up. once raoul cleaned the table he took the tub of left over food and dishes back into the kitchen. "manny, manny." manny looked up from dumping food into the trash can. "si?" raoul put his tub on the counter. "who's the blonde chica out there?" manny furrowed his eye brows. "i don't know who you're talking about, amigo. but if chica's a blonde, that mean's she's white, right? what do you think your chances are with her?" manny had no faith, and he didn't even know who she was talking about. "muy bien, manny. i can get any chica." manny shook his head. "ok, who are we talking about here." raoul and manny both walked over to the kitchen doors. two circular windows were on each, both boys took a window. "her," raoul stated and nodded towards the blonde waitress. manny whistled lowly, which then turned into a chuckle. "andie wallace? you think you can get andie wallace? amigo, you are loco." as if she heard the two mexicanos talking about her, raoul saw the blonde stop for a moment and turn around, looking directly at raoul and manny. there was no way of covering it up either. two guys looking out the kitchen's doors? it's not like they were admiring the fake plants around the dining room._______________________
