All in all, it’s pretty much just your typical beach bum look.

+he was a former assassin, so he has killed many people, though he left that life.
+he had a wife, and a son, who died because of him.
BEST MEMORY:
+he has three best memories by far, all of them involving his family.
The first one would be when he married his wife, MaryAnne. After that he thought there was nothing more in this world that could bring him more joy. She was the love of his life.
Second, would be the birth of his daughter, which made him happy beyond his wildest dreams. And third was the birth of his son, which produced some of the same feelings. He never really knew or was aware you could love somebody that much.
WORST MEMORY:
+His worst memory is tied between two horrors. first would be when he walked in to see his wife and his son shot and dead. It was heartbreak and he probably will never be the same after that. That event is what caused him to turn to alcohol. The second worst memory would by far have been before his wife and son died, when he and MaryAnne were told that Lily had leukemia. He was torn as to why something like that could happen to a little girl, and of all little girls, his little girl.
OVERALL PERSONALITY:
Shane is not exactly who he once was, and will probably never be that person again. Before the death of his wife and his son, he was a much more bright… sober person. He was also a lot more tough. He stood up for himself and was fiercely loyal to his family, he was smart and the dad any kids would look up to and call a hero. He was very secretive and protective, and usually able to remain calm, cool, and collected through any situation. He had been graceful and stealthy, kind and warm. He was like the teddy bear father at home and stealthy killer at work. He was loving and charming when it came to his wife and always there for anybody who he cared for. He’d been a big family man, and he probably still would be had not two of the most important beings in his life been taken away from him. The only thing that probably keeps even a little bit of happiness with him is his daughter, Lillian.
These days, Shane is typically drunk. He isn’t an abusive drunk, or an angry one. He is usually fairly light hearted and a goofball when he is wasted. Happy and carefree. Sometimes he’s a mope-y little alcoholic, but those are only on his really bad days. When he isn’t sober is probably when he is in his best moods. He never gets so bad that he can’t watch out for Lily, but sometimes he can be a little scatterbrained with her. Sometimes it’s almost like she’s taking care of him, and she’s the sick one. He isn’t exactly helpless. He’s functional enough to work and whatnot, never really getting completely wasted except for every now and again, and when that happens Brandee typically steps in and causes and intervention for a while. He typically just stays on the tipsy side, otherwise teaching sail boating and scuba diving would be pretty difficult.
When sober, the guy is pretty much a sarcastic bastard. He is rude and lacks any sort of filter (which is the same as when he is poisoned by alcohol, but just a bit more harsh). He makes jokes and isn’t really all too friendly. He’s a lot more professional in his work when he is like this, and the only person he even shows any sort of happiness to his Lily herself. He’s even a bit snappy with his cousin and sister when he’s like this, which isn’t really a good thing. They seem to be pretty immune to his distasteful personality most of the time though, so he’s never really left alone. Lily isn’t every very happy with him when he’s rude to people and insulting, she tends to lecture him like she was his mother. Sometimes it baffles him exactly how mature she can be for such a little girl.
Shane would do anything, absolutely anything for his daughter. He would jump into a molten volcano is that meant taking away her leukemia. He sometimes even prays to God that he will just cure Lily and take Shane’s life. He believes he is the one who deserves to die, not her, and right now she is seeming like a more likely candidate for heavens gates. He already has his will written out that if he died, Brandee or Eliza will get custody of little Lillian, whoever the court deems better suited at the time. He believes either one of them would be a better parent to her, and if he weren’t so selfish he would let them have her now… but Shane knows she’s the only thing keeping him alive right now, the only thing keeping him from falling into an abyss of darkness and despair. Plus, with the possibility of her getting worse… of the unspeakable happening… well he just isn’t willing to give up the last precious hours he has with her, though he is fervently praying they will be years and that she will outlive him.
Though he is an alcoholic, you can’t really underestimate Shane’s parenting skills. He really does everything for his little girl and does anything to spoil her. He’s never really shown her his bad side. She’s seen him show it to others, but he’s never unleashed it on Lillian herself. He is still the heroic dad to her that she’s always remembered, though maybe a bit more scattered and less responsible. Lily loves him though and she wouldn't trade him for anything, so that must mean he's been doing something right all this time.
Shane is a charmer. He is pretty smooth with his words, whether it be an insult or a compliment. He knows how to wrap a girl around his finger, though he really doesn't try that all too often. He will dish out compliments, but he hasn't been on a date or opened himself up to a woman since his wife was killed only a year ago. It's something he figures he will never get over or be able to forget about. Shane is pretty positive he is destined to die alone without anybody to be there with him or helping him out. He figures that is what he deserves in the end, so it doesn't really frighten him. It's almost like he isolates himself out of guilt.
The young man is very witty and sharp-tongued. He can always think of a come-back to anything anybody says to him if he cares enough to respond. However, he tends to say things without thinking of the consequences, so he doesn't really ever consider other's feelings or how hard he might be hitting somebody with his words. Pretty much, he's an ass. This is usually when Lily steps in and lectures him about his actions. It's not that he really wants to hurt feelings, he is just so careless and disinterested that he doesn't really pay attention to the affects it may have on people.

LIVING SITUATION: shaks
HISTORY:
Edgar Harkin had always been a handsome young man, liked by everyone and from a wealthy family. He grew up happily and loved by all, and with his best friend by his side, Isadora West. He and Isa were practically inseperable as children. The grew up as next door neighbors and family friends. Their parents had always been friends, so they'd known each other since as long as they could remember. They went through grade school together, their early teenage years, and well into their teenage years, but they had a falling out. Isadora wasn't exactly the most beautiful girl around. She wore large glasses and had braces, she was the girl who wore button up shirts and knee length plaid skirts with knee-high plaid socks even when she wasn't wearing a school uniform. Edgar began to fall away from her, hanging out with a crowd more his speed and dating girls he considered at his level. Isadora was hurt, but moved on as well.
A few years later in college, Isadora had long forgotten about Edgar. She had just wanted to prove to herself she was good enough, and she was beautiful enough, and she really did blossom into a lovely girl. She was tall and beautiful with sunkissed skin and a slim figure. She'd gotten a job as a model and was quite successful in that industry as a beginner. Edgar met her again while she was studying fashion design in college, and realized he'd missed out on his opportunity. She, of course, was still in love with him, but refused to give herself up so easily. He courted her for months, and finally covinced her he really did love her and that he was sorry. So they were married in a big, happy, family-filled wedding, and their first child, Shane Harkin, followed soon after.
Shane was adored by his parents and was a happy little child. He never saw much of his father because apparently his work kept him away. He was the president of some big, important company, but Isadora was always around to spoil him, and spoiled he was. His parents adored him and they gave him everything a little child could possibly want in life. He loved the ocean and spent a lot of time on the beach. When he was around five, his sister Eliza was born, and he was already very protective of her. He and Eliza were very, very close growing up and practically best friends. They fought here and there, but they always made up. They were a happy little family, and always were until many years later.
Shane was into a lot of sports and whatnot as a kid and teenager. He loved surfing and even performed in competitions as a kid. He was also pretty good at sailing and scuba-diving was something he always did because Eliza loved it and she loved when he went with her. He took her scuba diving a lot and their parents would often come with them, and then Eliza would go sailing with him as well. They did practically everything together even with their age difference. Shane also had his own best friend growing up, and her name was MaryAnne McAdams. She was a year young than he was, but they got along swimmigly, and Eliza loved her as well. So they were like the three muskateers, Eliza sort of a tag-along, but Shane and MaryAnne didn't mind her.
Shane and MaryAnne were always crushing on each other. In high school they dated on and off, fought and made up, but in the end they were still best friends. High school was when Shane's life changed forever. One night, he, MaryAnne, and Eliza were watching a movie togeher. MaryAnne's parents were out of town, and since they were good friends with Isadora and Edgar, she was staying with them and sleeping in Eliza's room for the weekend. Shane was sixteen at the time, Eliza was eleven, and MaryAnne was fifteen. It was a normaly night untilt he police showed up on the Harkin's Residence doorstep with some rather shocking news.
Shane's parents had been murdered that, and everything had been stolen from them except for the clothes on their backs. Each one was shot. Shane was devastated. MayAnne's parents came back and took in Shane and Eliza for the time being... but Shane ran away without a word to anybody. He disappeared, dropping out of high school. He didn't tell Eliza or MaryAnne or anybody where he was going, he simply left. Eliza was a wreck after that, feeling like she'd lost everything. That was when she reached out to her cousins in America, the Makenzi's, and became very close to an older cousin of her's, Brandee. She was only eleven at the time and needed a friend. Brandee was two years older and she was there for her.
A year later Shane came back, secretive and silent. He didn't tell them where he'd been or what he'd done. In reality he'd left and traveled and trained around Europe and Asia under different people. He became an assasin, a professional fighter, and was now a cold blooded killer. He was back to find the people who murdered his parents. He didn't tell Eliza why he'd left, nor anybody else. They were all furiouswith him, and yet overjoyed with his return. He was different than they remembered, darker, but they were still happy. Shane practically ignored MaryAnne though. She was shocked, confused, and hurt. Over the next year, Shane devoted all his time to finding who these people were. Apparently they'd been caught in his absence, and were rotting in prison. Well, they weren't going to continue to rot for much longer.
Shane managed to poison the two men who'd robbed his parents, sneaking into the prison, unseen and unheard. They were dead and Shane wasn't even suspected when the morning came around. After that he'd became an assasin for hire, working freelance for whoever could pay. Yeah, he was young, but he was tall and strong. He was talented and had room for more improvment as well. A year passed and he was beginning to develop a reputation for his little talent. MaryAnne had given up on him completely, or so it seemed. She caught him alone one night, and they had a heart to heart and Shane finally opened up to her. He'd never stopped loving her. So he was eighteen by the time and they'd decided to get married since she was graduating.
MaryAnne's parents were wary at first, but they still adored Shane, so they consented and the weddin was extravagant and beautiful. Shane was beginning to heal, and feel as though is parents were avenged. He never accepted jobs to take out innocent people, only those who truly wronged somebody. He was happy. He felt heroic in his work, he had the girl of his dreams, and they had a child on the way. When Shane was nineteen, his first child was born; A little girl they named Lillian Rose Harkin. Shane adored the little girl. He'd never imagined so much love or happiness in his life. She was his little girl and he would have done anything for her and MaryAnne. Not long after, his son, Robbie James followed. Shane loved both his children with all his heart. He and his wife and his two children lived happily in their home on the beach, they were living in a world of bliss.
Four years of peace passed, and then Shane accepted a job that would only bring more tradgedy into his life. A mafia hired him to take out somebody who was apart of a rival mafia. He didn't get much details, but he did the job. It caused a ruckus amongst the opposing mafia though. They were furious. Shane figured they'd just blame the other side of the opposition though and moved on. Ony a few weeks after this job did he and MaryAnne notice Lily was not looking very healthy or acting as she normally did. They took her to the hospital and were informed that Lily had Leukemia and it was pretty far along already. MaryAnne was a wreck, and Shane was worried sick. Lily stayed in the hospital for a week afterwards to run tests, and Shane stayed with her, telling MaryAnne to take Robbie home and get some sleep. It was a mistake.
When Shane went home a day later, he walked into his home to silence. When he got upstairs he found horror waiting for him. MaryAnne and Robbie were dead, lying together on the floor. MaryAnne had stab marks all over her body, and a bullet through her heart. Robbie had a bullet through his head. That was when Shane fell into depression. He couldn't let go completely, he still had Lily, and he couldn't give up on her. He had to protect her. He was devastated by the incident and retired from his work. He knew who'd done it, and he couldn't risk his occupation harming the last thing he loved in his life. Lillian Rose. She was all he had left and he couldn't risk losing her. He packed up and left. He decided to move all the way to America to Valkyrie, California. It was near UCLA and Stanford, two places where he could get good care for Lily, and Valkyrie's hospital was considered a very good one.
Eliza took the liberty to call up their cousin, Brandee, who also lived there and tell her to keep and eye out on Shane until she could manage to move there herself. He turned to alcohol and opened up his own rental shop on the beach and teached sailboating and scuba-diving. Lily's been struggling, but he's been sober enough to help her out. So they've just moved to Valkyrie, and who knows what life will bring them.
