Happy days is my favourite theme song

BEST MEMORY:
- She has a lot of good memories. She really does. Her best was probably her first internship while at Georgetown University in Washington DC. Got an internship at the Smithsonian and the whole time there was amazing.
WORST MEMORY:
she has two distinct worst memories, but the second is the actual worst. Her first worst memory was the look on her father's face when she was a kid. She was weird and to rationalize how alone she felt she looked up to the sky and truly believed for a few years that she was from another planet, an alien refugee and that her parents were just foster parents. And one night, when she was eight, after a fight with her Dad telling him she didn't belong here, she told him she wished a different family found her, she called her father dumb and that she wished someone else found her. The look on his face after she said it nearly killed her. And later that night she spied on him and her mom on the top of the stairs, she had never seen her father look so broken.
The worst memory of all was when she was 16, working on her masters at Yale when she got the phone call telling her to come home to Seattle because her father had a heart attack. He was in the hospital for three days before the plug was pulled and he died in his sleep.
OVERALL PERSONALITY:
Billy is very awkward, that'll be the second thing you notice about her. The first thing you'll notice is that she's beautiful but then as she starts to speak everything changes. She loses her appeal to a lot of men, mostly because she has the habits and soul of the worlds biggest geek. She's weird and she can be hard to talk to because of it. She was always the skinny kid with braces and reading glasses in school and she still see herself like that. She has no idea of the cards she holds now that she is the social world's definition of attractive. She's nice and all but she just has a hard time connecting with people. She really good at connecting with people who seem as strange to American society as she does to other people her age, She's the type of girl who is more comfortable and charming when eating rattlesnake with a tribe in South America that's only met a handful of white people than she is eating at noodles & company with someone she met in highschool. Of course, she was in highschool at twelve so it was hard to make any friends. She's always excelled. She's always been incredibly intelligent. Its not that she was that far fetched, at least in her mind. I mean, it's rare but there are some kids who graduate college at 12. She only graduated college at 15.
But another reason some people can be turned off by her is that she is so intelligent. She can seem at moments to know everything. She's not ashamed of her brain, its all she has in her mind so she's unashamed to correct people. Billy doesn't mean anything mean or conceited by it but if a fact is stated that is wrong, she corrects it. Some think she's too good at everything. She's a black belt, she has more degrees in her first 22 years than most in their entire lifetimes, she's not scared to try things, or scared of anything so it seems, never been afraid of bugs or messes (although she likes her home to be kept very clean), she's traveled, she knows every question on jeopardy, she speaks english, danish, portuguese, spanish, swahili, french and ASL, AND she's beautiful? Too others that is very very intimidating. Again, she doesn't mean to be though. The truth of the matter is is that Billy is an extra-ordinary type of woman but she has no idea. She thinks of herself as weird and that no one can understand her, and no one ever will. Sometimes having a high IQ can be more confusing than an average one. Her brain has made her feel isolated. Despite having a large, loud, loving and supportive family, she can be in a crowded room with them and feel completely alone.
Remember when I said she seemed not be scared of anything? She is. She's scared of being hurt. I wouldn't say she shuts people out. No, people shut her out but part of her, subconsciously doesn't try to fit in anymore, except for on a professional level. When it comes to her work she is professional. Her field is competitive and she works hard. Its not everything is easy for her to pick up. She never had any friends growing up or ever really. She works to fill the time. Her life is her work, her work and her family. Family is incredibly important to Billy. She grew up the youngest of five, all four older are brothers too. She had a million cousins and aunts and uncles around, plus her mom and dad, her big Danish family. One day she wants to settle down and have a family but she doubts it'll ever happen, after all, she's 22 and so far had only kissed one guy. Obviously she wasn't considered desirable to men. Billy's not the type to notice when she turns guys heads or pick up on small tendencies when a guy or another female, depending, is hitting on her. And she doesn't exactly know how to flirt to show her own interest. She's a sucker for a smooth talker though. She's an easy target to be walked on by a guy with a white smile. Not that she's charmed by him but she feels like she doesn't have a right to stand against him. Her low self esteem keeping her down yet again. It also doesn't help that she's a complete sweetheart who doesn't want to offend anyone or put anyone out.
I also just want to be clear, she is a sweetheart and she's goofy and dorky and awkward but she is not the type of person who is happy 24/7 or can force happiness 24/7. She has emotions and she can't always control them, like most of the human population. She's cried, she feels alone, she feels like a freak, she wants to fit in, all the normal things a person wants and feels, she does. She's been tested for high performing autism and she doesn't have it. Unlike some, she is very capable to having a broken heart.

HISTORY:
Hagen and Ada Friis were married at 19. They had been friends since childhood. You'll remember them always saying there never was anyone else, they were each others first and last loves. They had been together since age 15 for goodness sakes. They were in love. real love. They both grew up in Copenhagen, Denmark. They were both from fairly large families and there wasn't a lot of drama with them. There really wasn't. People were happy. Each extended family had their own personalized issues but at the core, they were all very loving people. When Hagen and Ada were 22 they got the news that Ada was pregnant. There was a large party celebrating, showering her with gifts. It was the baby shower, she was maybe 8 months along. Lots of food and lots of drinking although not by her of course. One image of the two young lovers that just defined them as a couple and their values is a picture of them at the party, Ada's sitting in a lawn chair, all glowing and beautiful, her belly the size of a large balloon but just as beautiful. She was looking down at Hagen, her eyes shining in the most honest, tearfully happy smile, while Hagen was crouched down beside her looking up at her lovingly as she held his hand to her belly. That image defined who they were as people. They were kind, loving, simple people who held family at the highest importance. I don't mean simple in a "simple minded" kind of way but Simple as in they didn't need fancy degrees and high paying jobs to be happy, they just needed each other and knew that there were things far more important than technology and money.
This baby would be one of five to come. The first came out a boy. Vilfred they named him. And they adored him. Showered him with all their attention until he was two years old and they got pregnant again. Another boy, Peder. Followed three years later by Poul. With three growing boys, things were getting crowded. And one dream of Hagen's was looking like they would never make it true. And that was to live in the United States. He had always wanted to see the Space Needle and Hagen was just intrigued by the mixture of all the cultures, not that he didn't love his home in Denmark. So Ada surprised him. She used her personal savings and bought him store space… in Seattle, Washington, USA. So he moved his store to the US. And they moved themselves and their boys across seas, and on followed their own brothers and sisters and their spouses and kids. It was like the whole clan of Friis's moved. Their parents were still in Copenhagen. A separation that tugged on their hearts but the move felt right. After about a year, two years after Poul was born, Bruin Friis was added to the family. Yet another boy, Ada and Hagen had their hands full. They found it amusing they had so many boys but it didn't bother them. They didn't care about their children's gender as long as they were happy and healthy. And after Bruin's first birthday had already passed, on January 1st, 1986, Ada gave birth to their first girl. Blonde hair blue eyed little angel child. They named her Willow Lane.
Willow was a special child right off the bat. Not that they didn't consider all their children special but Willow seemed to pick up things a lot faster. She was speaking better than Bruin and she was a year younger. When going to school in her younger years, she kept having problems paying attention because she knew it all already. She read books faster than her own parents. It was like she was starved for knowledge. The four year old would sneak away from the playground at preschool and run into the school's library and read encyclopedias. At five her favorite author or was H.G. Wells. A five year old reading Wells! She could calculate large numbers in her head. Instructors suggested that she be switched into an accelerated program at a specialty school. It was hard for the family. They were fairly well off financially but a private school was a bit draining. It resulted in her mother taking a few extra shifts. At home Willow had gained the nickname Billy. She was just like on of the boys. She was tiny, skinny and a bit gangly but she ran and rough housed, she was not scared to get dirty. She had a good relationship with all her brothers growing up but mostly with Poul. Bruin was a bit resentful of the girl, she was too good everything and he felt like everyone except his parents compared him to her. He was the only one who cold shouldered her but as they grew older, the treatment got better. But when she was 5 almost 6 years old the real issues began to arise.
Billy had read everything in the house, she was more well spoken than half her family. She grew up speaking English and Danish but had learned Spanish and a fair amount of Portuguese at this point. Everyone in her school mocked her, called her a freak, called her a man. They all hated her. And when at home, as much love as her family tried to give her, there were somethings they just couldn't wrap their heads around. She was different and instead of embracing it, they ignored it. She felt separate from all of them and as high as her intelligence was then, she was still just a child, an imaginative one. And she convinced herself she was from a different planet. She was certain of it. It would explain why she felt so alone and why she was so different. How even when her family was kind and loving, she didn't feel like a member of the family. She started telling people this too. Her parents didn't know what to do. Billy was sent to the school counselor whom Billy just ignored completely, she would throw horrific tantrums when she was told she was in fact human. She would scream and sometimes claim to be kidnapped by her parents while she was in public. Her parents were lost at what to do. Billy spent a lot of time alone, She found a way to get on the roof of their house and watch the night sky instead of sleeping, waiting for her real family to come and find her. And this delusion in her head continued for years.
It wasn't until she was eight years old when her father was able to get through to her. Billy was acting up again, and when her father told her she needed to be respectful she told him that he didn't get it, he would never get it. her words were "You're human, I'm not. I'm of an advanced level of intellect, you're just a dumb human. You're plain, average, mediocre. I wish someone else had found me." Before she stormed off. It wasn't the first time she said they weren't her parents called them mere humans but it was the first time she ever dared say she was a different human family. The look on his face after she said it nearly killed her. And later that night she spied on him and her mom on the top of the stairs, she had never seen her father look so broken. She snuck out onto the roof again, feeling guilty when her father actually joined her on the roof, saying he knew she came up here, even if she thought it was a secret. He promised to tell anyone, it was a flat part of the roof anyways. He sat next to her and looked up at the sky with her. She apologized for saying she wanted a different human family to live with, she didn't mean that. She just wished her own people would come back from her, she wondered if they forgot about her. Her father shook his head, "No, there's no way they forgot. You're too amazing to forget." He told her that if they did come for her and she had to go, it would be the saddest day of his life because alien or not, he loved her no matter where she was from and that she would be unique no matter what part of the universe she was in. He repeated that he loved her once again before adding that he was pretty sure she loved him too, even if she was from Neptune and that as long as she knew that, she wasn't ever going to be alone, or without home. After a brief pause she looked at him with teared eyes and changed her life by saying "I'm not am I?"
All her dad did was wrap his arm around her and shake his head slowly before calmly telling her, "No, you're just a normal girl with an extraordinary mind." She cried most of that night but that was the beginning of her recovery. From then on she did her best not to cause trouble but instead of hiding away who she was in order to try to fit in with her school mates, she let herself excel. They still taunted her, teased her. She was too smart and brainy and skinny and awkward with braces but she began to find it funny when she raised the bell curve. She became dedicated to her work and thrived. Soon she was graduating high school at 13 and off to college at Georgetown University in Washington DC. Her oldest brother went with her. She might be a genius but she's still very young to be on her own and by this point he was 22 and got a scholarship to go to a college in Maryland right next to DC for law school. She very rarely if ever met people her own age, which didn't improve her social skills. She got an amazing internship and the Smithsonian while there. Changed her life and helped her realize what she wanted to do with her life
When she was 16, and beginning to work on her masters at Yale, she and her brother got a call saying their father was in the hospital. Fear set in immediately. Billy had been very close to her father ever since he "brought her back from Neptune" as they put it. He may have just been a small hardware store owner, but he was an extraordinary man. He found a way to connect with her when so many gave up. He saved her. They rushed back to Seattle quickly but all they could do was say their goodbyes before the man died in his sleep after fighting a heart attack. I don't want to say it tore the family apart because it just brought them closer together but it emotionally tore each individual to shreds. Hagen's funeral was a large one. Vilfred then decided that instead of going back to the east coast to finish up his degree. He finished up law school in U of W: Seattle. Billy went back to the east coast alone to finish getting her two master degrees from Yale in Xenoarchaeology and Anthropology. Xenoarchaeology for those who don't know is the study of the possibility of alien life. fitting right? After she got those degrees, she missed her family too much and came back to the west coast in order to attend Stanford while attaining her doctorate in order to be able to go home on long weekends, and see her family more. She still wasn't much of a socializer. She tried at moments but people found her too strange. When she was 18, one of her professors whom she was the TA to, was handsome and charming. But she was basically teaching his class. She did all his work. He would smile and she wouldn't argue, part of her thought it was okay for him to treat her like this because, he was handsome while she was… still the skinny awkward girl in her head, except she wasn't.
When she was like 18 she finally developed. Late but she did bloom and she began getting male attention, she just never recognized it as such. She didn't know how to receive it. So they would give up. She was too busy. And others when they found out about her degrees were too intimidated by her. She has had one kiss on a date that was set up by on of her brothers. She hadn't wanted to go but she did. And she followed her brothers rules, no talking about area 51, don't bore him with random facts, never admit that you went to africa while getting your masters and ate rat. Let him do most the talking. It was hard for her. He was wrong about a lot of things but it did work, he seemed to like her and kissed her as he said goodnight. SHe kept her eyes open and felt weird about it. She gave him and awkward smile and nodded before rushing inside her apartment of the time. She hasn't been on a date sense. She didn't want to change herself for anyone. So anyways, back on track. After she got her doctorate she worked in a museum in seattle for about two years, being with her family again was wonderful. But she was just gaining up experience for her dream job which is to be the museum curator for a natural history museum. When she got an assistant curator and Sector head of Astronomy and Xenoarchaeology in the Valkyrie Museum of Natural History, she had to take it. So she moved to Valkyrie. She moved there only a week or so after her 22 birthday. Brand new. Still has boxes to unpack. But she loves her job so far.
