the ocean breathes salty, won't you carry it in?You’ll have to try real hard to mend this emotional mess. Baby I’m not as easy as I look… WHEN THE OCEAN MET THE SKY , CHARACTER BASICS ,you missed when time and life shook hands and said goodbye FULL NAME: Brandee Elizabeth Makenzi NICKNAMES: Brandee, Mak, but Dee is the most common but whatever people really feel like calling her. GENDER: Female AGE: 21 UNIVERSITY YEAR: Sophomore MAJOR: Performing Arts (Dance) MINOR: None JOB: None yet PLAYBY: Mischa Barton (And yes I did do some major editing)
YOUR BODY MAY BE GONE , CHARACTER APPEARANCE ,i'm gonna carry you in my head, in my heart, in my soul ETHNICITY: A little bit of English, Spanish, Irish, German, Ukraine, and a bunch of other little things. HAIR COLOR: Light Brown/Dirty Blonde EYE COLOR: Grey HEIGHT: 5'10 WEIGHT: 120lbs BODY TYPE: Slim DISTINGUISHED FEATURES: Scar along her right ankle bone but otherwise she's simple and clean. No tattoos and no piercings besides the single holes in her ears. PERSONAL STYLE: Brandee is the kind of girl who can go all day in her pajamas and still have the motivation to get dressed up for a fancy dinner at night. Tell her it's formal and she'll dress to the nines. Tell her it's casual and she wears just that. She doesn't necessarily enjoy dressing up but she sure as hell can put on the game face and sucks it up. Jewelery is something she doesn't wear on a day to day basis. She does, however, wear a hemp anklet that she got from her brother before her first visit to the rehab center. Make-up is something she doesn't go all out wearing, just your average amount I suppose; nothing to extravagant but it's not nothing at all either. OTHER: --
IN YOUR MOUTH, IN YOUR SOUL , CHARACTER PERSONALITY ,the more we move ahead the more we're stuck in rewind STRENGTHS: Hard working, determined, honest, quick learner, and well organized. WEAKNESSES: Public speaking, tends to go to any limit for her friends, low self esteem, and can easily get her emotions in a mess LIKES: Dancing, reading, sleeping, taking long walks on the beach, running, watching movies (her favorite is a tie between action and romantic comedies), pizza, popcorn, ice cream, cooking (even if she totally fails at it), friends. DISLIKES: Burnt taste, horror movies, pitch black rooms, sea food, rats, raisins, loneliness, betrayal, feeling like a failure, drunk drivers, being sick, awkward situations FLAWS: Runs away from things she thinks she’ll get hurt from(relationships, situations, etc.), her emotions can sometimes get the best of her HABITS: Twirling her hair in awkward situations SECRETS: Went to rehab at only sixteen. (although it has been rumoured, she’s never told anyone or confirmed anything) BEST MEMORY: Having a family to call her own, those Friday dessert nights where the four of them would go out and get sundaes or banana splits and just be a family. WORST MEMORY: Waking up on the librarie’s front steps after drinking so much she couldn’t remember how she’d gotten there or why she was there. OVERALL PERSONALITY: Brandee has always been nice. Some might say too nice. That’s the first thing people usually notice about her; her kindness. All through high school she was known as the ‘sweetest girl you’ll ever meet’ and she hasn’t ditched the good girl act, yet. She feels for people and has a way of putting herself in others’ shoes. Acting like a bitch is weird for her because it's just not…well…her. She always smiles and her mood is often very happy. Which is weird considering all that she’s been through in life, you’d think she’d be in some sort of depressed state but even she knows better than that. She’s an intelligent girl and her past has just made her a better person all around.
With her low self esteem she prefers to make the life of other’s better and tends to keep herself out of the spotlight as much as possible, but given her history that hasn’t always been the case. She absolutely hates being put on the spot and will stutter and twirl her hair till something comes to mind. Usually that something is so totally irrelevant and ridiculous that she’ll run away in embarrassment.
Which brings us to one of her flaws. She’s scared of commitment and will most often be seen running away from situations that need her fully. Although she’s been working on this and with her determined attitude she’s sure to come through…sometime, eventually. It’s hard because of what she’s been put through and trusting is one thing she has a hard time doing with people around her.
She isn't good at a ton of things but even she will admit she's a whole lot smarter and intuitive than she looks. She loves anything to do with art and creativity - and is usually pretty good at it. Of course, on the flip side, that means she is horrid with anything math or science. That isn't really that hard to figure out. She's very protective of those she loves and if there's anything you can count on it's her tenacity. Brandee is one of those friends that you would just die to have. Once you’ve befriended her you’ve got a friend for life. She’s honest with you, but never too honest because she would hate to hurt your feelings, and she’s till death due you part loyal. She’ll stick by your side till the very end.
Getting drunk is something she doesn’t do often. That being said when she does drink she can get tipsy, fast. It’ll only take two or three drinks to get her stumbling and mumbling. When she is drunk she tends to talk, a lot. Usually about nothing in particular too, just talking to talk. She doesn’t like to go to parties because usually she doesn’t remember them. She tends to get a little out of control. But it’s not like it’s entirely her fault, she just gets drunk…really easily. Like I said before, she intelligent, so most often the people she does happen to go out with are close friends that she can trust.
AND WE'LL BOTH GROW OLD , CHARACTER HISTORY ,well i don't know, i don't know, i don't know, i hope so HOMETOWN: Portland Oregon PARENTS: Mother- Rain Christina (Macie) Makenzi- 50- High School Social Studies teacher Father- Lukas Don Makenzi- 51- Lawyer SIBLINGS: Brother- Nathaniel Don Makenzi- 21- Currently unemployed. OTHER: Grandmother- Elizabeth Lee (Jankus) Makenzi- 84- retired Grandfather- Markus Harrison Makenzi- 90- retired Grandmother- Daniela Marie (Valos) Macie- 86- retired Grandfather- Gary Mac Macie- 88- retired And the usual aunts, uncles, and cousins, but I’m not going to list them. LIVING SITUATION: Dorms HISTORY: April 24, 1989. The day had been beautiful but as soon as the sun had set the rain had set in and a spring thunderstorm struck the city of Portland Oregon just before the birth of Brandee Elizabeth Makenzi. It was exactly ten minutes after her brother Nathaniel was born. As the twins grew they began to look more and more alike. The two shared their mother's shade of chocolate brown eyes but what differed was that Nate’s hair was thick and dark, similar to their father’s, while Brandee’s was unlike either of her parents’. Her hair was the same shade her grandmother’s had been when she was younger. Which was odd seeing as her middle name was the same as her grandmother’s as well. Anyways, the two Makenzi kids lived a normal apple pie life. Rain had put Brandee into dance when she turned five and Lukas had pushed Nate into sports. It was all good until their sixteenth birthday.
Unlike some parents, Rain and Lukas Makenzi were around for their kids and were quite happy together. It was when the kids started high school that things started to dwindle. It was like everything had been being held together by only strings and those strings eventually just snapped. The twins had just turned sixteen and in a matter of weeks a whole bunch of whacky things happened at once. Nate was caught and charged for the possession of drugs at school, Brandee was sent away from Portland to help with anorexia, Rain caught her husband in bed with the maid and a mutual decision between the parents split them in a divorce.
Brandee had always been closer to her dad than her mom. It seemed like her mother only ever wanted the best for her daughter but it seemed that sometimes she thought that Brandee and she were more similar than they really were. So most often she was doing what she thought was best but that was for herself, not for Brandee, but Brandee never spoke up she would just smile and nod waiting for the day she could move out and just be her own person.
While away in rehab, Brandee was not told about her parents divorce or her brother’s situation. She was hurt deeply when she returned to Portland a year later to find that her parents were divorced, her brother had a track record with the cops, and on top of that her mother was suing their father for full custody. Emotionally and physically she couldn’t withstand the amount of pain she was going through and turned to alcohol and partying. It was after one of these parties that she got so drunk she blacked out and woke up on the libraries front steps. Luckily the morning had been still young and not a lot of people were out and about when she had come to. All of her friends had wondered about her but she brushed it off saying she had headed home, nothing to it. In reality she had phoned her brother and he had come and picked her up.These parties also led to her first boyfriend, who was, for lack of better word, a man whore. Yes man whore Chuck. She really had the lowest of standards at that part of her life. He’d taken control of her life, literally, telling her what she should do and when she should do it, that sort of stuff. They had been together six months when Nate finally stepped into his sister’s life and took the reins back for her. The two had a brawl, which Nate proudly won of course, and Brandee dumped him a week later after finding him in a corner, making out with someone other than herself. Chuck tried everything in his will to get her back, but it was to no avail. Brandee was forced to quit her nightly escapades after a year and a half of screwing herself up all over again and was sent to rehab for alcohol abuse.
After returning she found out that she was allowed to live with her dad and when she showed up at his apartment he gave her a car as a homecoming present. She vowed from then on to never do anything to hurt him again, it hurt too much already to see that he was willing to give her, of all people, a second chance. Her brother also was living with them but he hadn’t screwed up quite as much as his sister. Sure a few speeding tickets, a few run ins with the cops. Oh and did I mention the drug dealing? Yes he was, once again, caught with drugs but it wasn’t just weed this time, I mean he was older now of course it wasn’t something so harmless. It was heroin. Once his sister had caught drift of this she immediately got him out of it. He had never actually done anything, just sold some on the side, for extra cash.
Brandee lived happily, alcohol free and with her father and brother for a year (so she’d be twenty now). She’d graduated high school with grades all above failing and hadn’t had an ounce of trouble in her life for a long time. She'd stuck to concentrating on her dance. It was one place she could go to 'get away'. Totally loose all the problems she had in the world and take it out in movements. Along with that she’d been on a few dates after Chuck but none really stuck. She just couldn’t find it in her to let anyone into her life. They all seemed like vultures looking to pick sex out of her at any minute and she definitely didn’t want another one of those relationships. When she had turned nineteen she had gone to the university in Portland and had enjoyed her stay there for a year. It was just after her twenty first birthday that she knew that she needed to get out. Things may have been going well for her but she couldn’t live with her dad forever. Her brother was already moving to New York to attend university there and once he was gone she’d have no one. Obviously the two siblings were really close seeing as they both had been there for each other when things were rough. She had contemplated going with him but decided on California. She had always wanted to go to a real beach. Not just some man made one around a lake. She had only been thinking of going when one event in her life decided her fate.
She’d already sent out her application to Valkyrie Academy and a few along the cost when her mother caught wind of her possibly moving away. She hadn’t seen her daughter for a year so when Brandee had suddenly decided to take her up on a lunch date one day she was surprised to see that her mother had brought a friend to their date. Not just any friend, a therapist. Brandee hadn’t known it at the time of course, if she had she probably would have just ran away at the sight of the lady, but because she hadn’t known she had joined them for lunch. Her mother finally spilled the beans on why she had brought her ‘friend’ and it hurt Brandee to hear some of the things her mother was accusing her of getting into. She was all wrong; her father wouldn’t have let her get away with drinking again, let alone the accusation of drug use! Politely Brandee had excused herself to go to the washroom but instead she quietly made her way to her car and went back to her father’s to pack. She was going whether the school accepted her or not. She couldn’t stand that woman any longer!
COLLECTED MY BELONGINGS , ABOUT YOU AND FOR THE ADMINS ,and i left the jail, well thanks for the time YOUR NAME: Cassie GENDER: Female AGE: 17 RP EXPERIENCE: oh I don't know somewhere around three years OTHER CHARACTERS: None here. ROLEPLAY EXAMPLE:
At Brae’s comment her face softened slightly. Nothing he had said was new to her but bringing it up, he had made some good points. But it wasn’t just him she was worried about though. It took two to brawl. That being said, Payton wasn’t ever going to let the two of them ever come within striking distance of each other again. She just wouldn’t allow either one of them to do something so unnecessary to each other. As suddenly as she had come up with the idea it clicked just as quickly that they were living in the same frat house. God did that change plans a little. Maybe if she begged…no…ha, Ty would still find some excuse to show him who was boss in the family. He always did.
He caught her at the word ‘unconscious’ and she looked up from the floor quickly with a firm look. Her mouth was set in a fixed line and her eyes clearly told him she wasn’t impressed. As he raised his hands, however, she closed her eyes momentarily and mentally reminded herself not to get upset and to not start picking sides. That could lead her into some trouble and trouble wasn’t something she wanted to be in at the moment. She let out a breath before speaking in a soft tone. ”Please just let me talk to him before you start throwing punches. Ok?” she raised her eyebrows questioning. Although right now she was willing to let it slide because she simply didn’t want to argue with him with a headache present. However if it were to come down to a fist fight then she would merely put herself in between the two and pray to god they would stop before anything came her way. Her chances of that happening were pretty good seeing as they both seemed to care about her an awful lot.
Then she began to apologize for the whole situation she had put him in and all that had happened in the last few minutes. She couldn’t help but scold herself for being so stupid. How could she have thought that hiding Brae from her brother would ever turn out to be something simple and harmless? He said he wasn’t mad at her but she didn’t believe him. How could he not be a little bit angry? She hadn’t told her brother, pretty much the only family she had, about their relationship. Payton shook her head as he led her to the couch. ”No, you’re only saying that…” she stated stubbornly, her eyes refusing to engage in any contact with his. She couldn’t allow herself to even think that he wasn’t mad at her. But unfortunately there was more that he could be angry with her for; she just wasn’t aware of it.
After he had finished talking about how he had found her at the club, her gaze couldn’t stray from his for any longer. A wave of recognition washed over her face as her eyes darted to his face swiftly. Now she knew why she remembered the orange and red lights. Down in SoHo, that’s where she had been and she remembered being with Natt and Haley but what they were doing still wasn’t clear and nothing else came to mind. I guess she’d be considered lucky if she did remember anything more. It wasn’t until just after meeting Natt that she had been slipped the unknown substance. ”I was with Natt and Haley” she stated, lifting her pointer finger to prove a point. Meanwhile her gaze had stopped on something on the other side of the room. ”We were down in SoHo” Her head slowly swivelled to get his confirmation. What had suddenly triggered the memory was beyond her and she listened as Brae began to speak again.
With this new information Payton could fully understand now why he had felt frightened, even petrified. All she could muster out was a quiet ”I’m sorry…” to apologize for causing him to feel that way. She felt so awful, so guilty, and so violated with this new information. She had never thought of herself as one of those girls that got hit on every time they went out. No she was just plain ol’ Payton Cose, nothing special ‘bout it.
Alas the news from last night wasn’t about to get any better. ”Brae, please, I’ve never felt overcrowded by you in any way.” she paused and moved closer to him on the couch, placing her hand on his. ”I’ll admit I spend more time with you then I do some of my other friends, but I don’t mind in the least. It keeps me out of trouble” She winked and her mouth turned into a small smirk. Oblivious to how ironic she was about to sound with Brae’s next words. Then he leaned forward and she looked at him a little concerned. His voice then filled the room and she froze completely. ”No…” her voice trailed off while she shook her head and her hand retreated to her own lap and she sat back slightly, her stomach dropped silently; like it would on a roller coaster ride. ”No, no…wait vulture dan-?“ she cut herself off, scrunching her face in disbelief, refusing to let her mind picture anything of the sorts ”No that doesn’t just happen to anyone, especially me of all people. Brae, of all people! Me? ” She was shocked at what he had concluded but deep down she felt her stomach turn in uneasiness. He was in pre-med and she knew that he knew what he was doing so how could she give a reasonable rebuttal to what he thought had happened? She scanned his face and instantly knew that he wasn’t kidding around, he seriously thought that she had been slipped a date-rape drug. But why her? Of all the attractive women that she guessed had been in the same place as her why did she get targeted? Payton couldn’t figure out a valid reason and it made her frustrated and angry. Without warning she jumped from the couch and ran to the closest bathroom.
Her stomach had decided that it had needed to purge again. Payton had made it to the bathroom, on the first level, in time to empty what was left from within her stomach into the toilet. God she couldn’t take any more of this. Luckily she had been able to keep the mess to a bare minimum but she couldn’t expect her lucky streak to last much longer. Grudgingly she fell into an awkward position at the base of the toilet, allowing her head to rest against the wall as her mind, and completely empty stomach, began to settle. Ok so he was right, she couldn’t deny it any longer. What did she do now? It disgusted her beyond what anyone could think, but really what could she do?

hi cassie and welcome. i like what you've got so far. the only i see is with the personality. we like to get really deep into our characters so i'd like to hear a little more about her personality. what exactly about being a "bitch" doesn't sit well with her? and what is her definition of a bitch? there are the verbal abusers, the physical, the ones who tear you down for enjoyment. what exactly does she picture when she thinks "bitch." how has her past influenced who she is? have things been so hard that it's just broken her? how exactly did it make her so depressed and self conscious? has she had a bad experience with men that has lead her to be terrified of relationships or is that just a fear from childhood? also i see that she went to rehab for anorexia. what lead to that? did people say or do things to her to make her think she needed to stop eating, was it something she came up with on her own when she looked in the mirror one day? it usually has to do with underlying issues. if you could elaborate, then we'd understand her just a little bit better.
so work on that and then we'll revisit this app. other than a little more definition to her personality, she's very well done. i look forward to reading the modifications.

the ocean breathes salty, won't you carry it in? IN YOUR MOUTH, IN YOUR SOUL , CHARACTER PERSONALITY ,the more we move ahead the more we're stuck in rewind OVERALL PERSONALITY: Brandee has always been nice. Being stuck up, snotty, spoiled, and foul by nature just wasn't her. She didn't attack people verbally, or physically for that matter, and had no intention of ever do anything like that to anyone ever. Maybe her actions had hurt her family at one point but she didn't consider that bitchy, those were just mistakes. No, instead you'll always see her with smiles and her mood is often very happy.
Although naturally a little shy about herself, after word got out about her first trip to rehab she had become more self conscious and had actually lost weight after coming home but her brother had stuck by her side through the whole process and her very best friend Lisa had also helped her remember what she had learned through the process of rehabilitation. She had learned to live somewhat isolated and alone until talk had quited and people were a little more accepting of who she was.
Which brings us to one of her flaws. After her poor decision in picking a boyfriend, who turned out to be one of the biggest players in the school, she’s been scared of commitment. As a child she was always a little bit sketchy with letting people into her life but after he had used her just for sex, it made things a little more complicated. Most often you'll catch her running away from situations that need her completely and although 110% loyal to all her friends, she still has that trust issue with guys after being burned when she was younger. Alas she has been working on her trust issues, and with her determined attitude she’s sure to come through…sometime, eventually, but for now she prefers to stay away from commitment. It's just easier that way and she's less likely to get hurt.
She learned the hard way how people can totally desert you for a simple mistake and doesn't intend on doing that to anyone of her friends.
Brandee had always been closer to her dad than her mom. Her mother always tried to do the best for her daughter but what was best for her and what was best for Brandee were two different things. She pushed Brandee away more than anything and caused her daughter to become confused inside about what was best for her. Through this time of confusion and her already self conscious self Brandee would refuse to eat on many different occasions. Skipping out on meals meant she was just like all her friends at school. Skipping out on meals meant she had more time to become who she wanted to be and not who her mother wanted her to be. She wanted to be that figure on all the bill boards and even though she was already thin, somehow all those pictures got to her head. Not eating made her feel like she was doing something about her weight and it made her feel like she was accomplishing something in life. And that was how she got sickly skinny and was shipped away.
While away in rehab, Brandee was not told about her parents divorce or her brother’s situation.
