Valkyrie's 2006 Annual Cotillion Ball jason, babydark blue, dark blue have you ever been alone in a crowded room, well i'm here with you "Son, you're going to serve the Lévesque family a good name." Jason's father said, as they stood in Jason's walk in closet, looking the mirror and adjusting his purple tie. Jason coughed, as he straightened up and fixed his hair a bit, while his neck felt pressure from the tightening of the tie. His father was a tall man, with glasses and a bastard appearance. Something that Jason had got from the gene pool. "As long as you stop fucking little girls in clubs and country clubs, maybe I'll let you take over my business. But seeing your grades, well, maybe you're just a waste of time." His father said coldly, as Jason closed his jaw shut, his eyes filled with annoyance. You wonder where Jason got his ways? Look at the king of jerks - his own father. "Now, honor our family and don't embarrass us with your antics. Or else."
"Of course, father." Jason said in a plain tone, with no meaning what so ever. His father nodded and left the closet, as well as Jason's room. Jason glanced back at the mirror and saw different things. Druggie. Rapist. Alcoholic. Womanizer. Brother. A Son. He shook the thoughts out his mind, as he left the closet and walked toward his nightstand, where inside a locked drawer he had many things that probably would make parents rethink having Jason around their kids. But out of all that, Jason only took some condoms and a pack of cigarettes. You never know if some drunk debutante wanted some loving tonight, despite that he couldn't stop thinking about Brianna Malinda at the basketball game. Maybe she'd look for loving tonight.
He then closed his room, locking it and looked across the hall at Anne's room, which was open. He could hear a lot of action going on inside, but ignored it. He glanced over at Garrett's room and found it absolutely empty, which surprised him. Garrett had a life? Who knew? So, Jason slunk his way down the stairs and into the marble foyer, where his parents were waiting for Jason and Anne to make their debut into society. For Jason's third and last time. Garrett would not be attending, obviously. He noticed Anne finally make her way down the stairs in her dress, looking, well very pampered. He stuck his hands in his pockets, ignoring her prissy presence and walked out the door to the limo that was waiting in the circular driveway. This was bound to be an interesting night.
[/blockquote][/blockquote] miss. anneyou know me oh you think you do but you just dont see that ive been waiting all my life to be something i cant define Anne
had spent most of the afternoon, December 13th, getting ready for tonight. Cotillion. She sat in her room while her stylist finished curling her hair and she straightened her dress. The afternoon had been spent by getting lunch at a little cafe downtown, then coming home text messaging Oscar Lyon most of the time. Then, she had got her dress ironed and her make up done by her stylist, which then consumed her time with curls in her hair. She wanted to look good, because as it was her second time being a debutante, and this year was different. Very different. Not like Valkyrie hadn't been dramatic or lush before.. but this was a whole new zone. "Finished, Ms. Lévesque." The scrawny, bird like featured woman said, as she turned off the iron and moved out of the way for Anne. Anne dismissed her and ignored her as she stood up and walked to her full length mirror, looking from each angle. Insecurities arose, which you wouldn't find some a girl like Anne, but believe it or not, sometimes she had them. She bit her lip as she walked over to her queen bed and snatched her simple, white Oscar de la Renta purse. Snatching a lip gloss, she reapplied before the stylist even made it out the door. Before she knew it, she was making her way out the door with her family. Well if you could call it that. The mother whom was in love with another man. The invisible bastard father. And her brother the rapist. In a family portrait, they'd probably look happy, but in reality, well, it wasn't that way at all. Except, for once, Anne was actually getting better. Sure, everything around Valkyrie was getting worse, but for now, Anne was doing great. She made school class president, she was now with Oscar Lyon in a peaceful 'arrangement', and so far Jason had stayed out of her life. She was getting it all back together - which was hard to do in this town, but so far that was how it was. She glanced out the window of the limo, her father and mother on their own phone and Jason drinking whiskey. Their parents didn't mind them drinking, as long as they didn't insult the family name. The sky was cloudy, and chilling with possible rain. The country club was already crowded with people, and lights were lit up around the building. It looked absolutely gorgeous. The limo dropped them off at the front as they made their way into the lobby. A flashy big sign was in the front lobby, that read 'Valkyrie's 2006 Annual Cotillion Ball'. And near the sign it read specifically this; 'All girls are to be led to the left backstage corridor of the grand ballroom with their fathers. All gentlemen will be in the right corridor to wait to be called out. The ball starts at eight o'clock sharp. Everyone is to be seated at the round tables. No late entries.' Anne sighed, as she briskly walked past Jason and her delusional parents. Jason made his way to the balcony, smoking a cigarette and eying a foxy thirty year old getting drunk by herself. Oh yes, it was definitely Cotillion alright. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

Emilia DemtraBaby you're all that I want. When you're lying here in my arms I'm finding it hard to believe We're in heaven. Emilia sighed, chewing on the side of her lip as she watched her mother work a curling iron on the back of her head. Her mom and done hair for a few weddings in the past, so she knew what she was doing. That wasn’t what worried Emilia. What worried her was the event that was coming up in just a short while. Cotillion. Where her fellow classmates would be looking to impress, and looking like they just walked out of a store catalogue. But hey, that was Valkyrie for you; there was always someone to be impressed.
“Thanks for doing this, Mom.” Emilia repeated for the eighth time that day. Her mother had spent the entire day working on Emilia. Doing her hair, her makeup, and, most importantly, teaching her to dance. Her clumsiness had kept her from doing it in the past, but now, Emilia found that it wasn’t that bad. Actually, it was pretty fun. That was the part of this whole shindig she was the most excited about. There would be tons of drama, and tons of people trying to hook up with each other. But then again, at least Emilia had a date.
Eric Faden. Really, you couldn’t ask for a better cotillion date. This kind of thing was right up his alley. He had said that it would be like they were in Camelot, and Emilia didn’t doubt that it would feel exactly like that. After all, it was better than being with Luke Summit. Not that she would be thinking about going with Luke anyways. But at one point, that might have been a possibility. Faden was right about comparing him with Lancelot. Eventually, all the stupid shit that Luke did was going to catch up with him.
It’s no problem, sweet heart. Emilia’s mother answered as she set down the curling iron. And I’m done now. You can turn around. Emilia had been determined not to look in the mirror until her mom had finished. She wanted to see the whole product. Not what it took to get there. Turning, Emilia couldn’t help but smile at herself. She hadn’t been this dressed up since…Well…Never. The make up around her eyes was subtle, but still dramatically set out the irises. The pale pink on her lips set out the slight blush on her cheeks as she smiled, shaking her head. “This is amazing, mom.”
Elizabeth just shrugged modestly, then went back into her daughter’s room to get her dress. Emilia stood slowly, still not quite believing what she was seeing. The sudden movement made her wince as her heart gave a painful throb. She gripped the edge of the bathroom counter, rubbing her chest. What in the hell was that? Shaking her head, she stood straight again as her mom came back in. Changing quickly, Emilia mulled over the pain for a few moments before pushing it aside. Nothing was going to ruin this night.
Going slowly down the stairs so that she wouldn’t trip, she rolled her eyes as her brother complemented her, but smiled. “Oh come on, Ben. You really should have taken Laura.” Nah. I didn’t know if she was gonna be up to it. “Riiiight…Whatever, Ben.” Shaking her head again, Emilia took her father’s arm as it was offered to her and went out to the car and slid in, chatting with her dad as they drove along. As they approached the country club, Emilia looked at the lavish decorations and smiled a little.
Here goes nothing.
Claire Bartnett Been some bad times I've been through, Damage I cannot undo. Some things, I wish I could do all all over again, Claire picked up her hair brush, clicking off the straightening iron that lay on her side table. Twisting her hair up into an elegant pony tail, she awkwardly pushed bobby pins into their rightful positions, her left arm making the whole situation difficult. Really, at the moment, she wished that she didn’t have the stupid arm at all. Now her wrist could hardly move, and her brace itched like hell. She wasn’t allowed to take it off though; it did keep the thing from hurting too much.
Her dad came up behind her, helping her push the last pin into place. You look great, Claire. He commented as she fussed over a few more things. Smiling, she stopped and stood, hugging her dad. “Thanks.” She said in reply. Walking across her room, she picked up her pill bottle and spilled out a couple of the tiny pills. They were pretty much the only thing that kept her going as of right now. Without them, she doubted that she could continue to hold a camera with her wrist in the condition it was.
Putting one into her mouth, Claire thought about the cotillion, as well as her date. She and Elliot had been dating since Vegas, and, for a while, everything had been fine. Ever since the car accident though, they had both been kind of distant and irritable. It might have been because of the medication they were both taking; Elliot had broken ribs, and Claire’s wrist had been smashed to pieces, but she doubted that sometimes. She felt bad for having to wonder if they were really meant to be together, but she couldn’t help it. Sometimes her thoughts just crept up on her.
But now, she felt like shit about the whole thing. Guilt creeped into her system like another drug. Before the basketball after party, Claire and Elliot had gotten in a fight. Not that it mattered anymore. Claire had been kind of hurt by the argument, and she spent most of the beginning of the night drinking. The rest of the night was spent with Charlie McPherson, shut up in his bedroom. But she hadn’t told Elliot what had happened…Not yet, anyway. Besides, Claire and Charlie had made a promise that it was a one time deal. Maybe Elliot wouldn’t have to find out.
Shaking her head slightly, Claire followed her dad outside and got into the car. They spent the ride in silence, now and then commenting on a few things. As they reached the country club, Claire and her dad followed other girls to the left hand corridor, where they were to stay until the beginning of the ball. Waving to a few of the people she knew, she sighed, glancing around for Elliot. She just hoped he wouldn’t find out about what she did. It would mean the end of their relationship. Which was something that she most definitely did not want.

♥ b r i a n n a_______________ Getting ready was the thing Brianna spent of the time on December 13th getting ready for Cotillion. The time had finally come. The time she has been waiting so long for. And finally, she would be spending time with her father. This can't get better... Brianna thought to herself. Things were going bad for her, but it turned around and now everything was going her way. She couldn't have been happier. The car crash had made everything horrible for her. Her happiness seemed to be drained from her entire body, and all hope for anything seemed to be lost. But then, Brianna thought about how she had changed Andrew's appearance. She thought about how Jason was going to be her date for cotillion. And now, her father was actually going to be there with her. Brianna's mother was busy, and didn't really even know that Brianna was going to Cotillion. The moment Brianna told her father, though, he seemed delighted. Like he actually wanted to spend time with her. It was like the old days - something she had missed.
Not quite done yet. Brianna was still working on some last minute details. Her make-up was almost done, and her strawberry blonde hair was tied up neatly in a bun. She still had to put her dress on, and would soon be done. Brianna was wearing her new earrings that she had bought in the mall not so long ago. She looked at herself in the mirror. The happiness that had been drained was back. The hopes that were lost seemed to be finding their way back to Brianna. The cheerleader had gained her spirit back. Brianna had showered, and she absolutely made sure that her hair was neat. The sink, however, wasn't the cleanest thing. It didn't have any stains, but stuff like eyeshadow, lip gloss, and whatnot were everywhere. Once again, Brianna looked at herself, and she gave a little smirk. Today was the day for Cotillion.
Minutes later, Brianna was done. The dress on and she walked down the stairs and over to the hallways where her father's room was. "Dad!" She said, excitedly, "Come on! We're going to be late!" Her father soon appeared from behind his door, and replied, "Honey, we won't be late. It's all- Oh my goodness." Brianna's father looked at her like she was the most amazing thing anyone's ever seen. "Is that my little princess? My little Brianna?" Brianna smiled. It's been so long since her father has ever called her his 'little princess' (as cheesy as it was), let alone, call her anything at all. "Dad. It's nothing." Brianna said with a smile. "Are you-" Her father seemed to know what she was already going to ask. "Yes, darling. I'm done. Now let's take some pictures." Brianna's father went into his room and came out quickly. "Into the living room." He said, already going down the stairs. "Daaaaad." Brianna said. Her tone showing that pictures didn't matter. "Come on pumpkin." Brianna let him take a picture or two, and got up. "Come on!" She said, her excitement showing again. "Alright, alright." Her father said, and before she knew it, they were at the country club.
The two entered the country club, just in time for the little announcement. "All girls are to be led to the left backstage corridor of the grand ballroom with their fathers. All gentlemen will be in the right corridor to wait to be called out. The ball starts at eight o'clock sharp. Everyone is to be seated at the round tables. No late entries." Brianna led her father to where they were suppose to be. She knew this country club very well now. "We're not late!" Brianna said happily. "How could be? You wanted to get her as soon as possible, " Brianna's father said, chuckling a little bit. Brianna thought she saw Jason when she looked around, but then, couldn't find him the second time she looked to see if it was really him. "Dad?" Brianna said, trying to get her dad's attention. "Yes, honey?" Her father said, turning to give his attention to her. "I really missed you." She said smiling.
"I missed you too, Brianna." And with that, the two hugged.

Eric FadenIt’s happened before With a common natureOver and over Losing wealth and stature. But I love you.
“REERRICC!!!! You’re gonna be late!!!”
“No I’m not Rach, calm down.” Eric Faden told the screaming six year old who stood in his room as he straightened his tie. He, Eric Faden was going to the cotillion. Him! Of all people. These were the sort of events he always wanted to go to but never got a chance to. These were the things of fairy tales but this time he was Cinderfella. Okay that sounded a bit… strange. But it didn’t stop him from being happy about going. Nothing was going to keep him down. Doug was watching the kids as the Hamins worked all night…again. And Faden took off work for the night and he was going. And to Doug’s everlasting surprise Faden had a date. Not just a date, but THE date. She was strong. She was imaginative and kind. She was beautiful and funny. She was Emilia Demtra. God, he couldn’t believe his ears when she had said yes. “I’d love to go with you to cotillion.” Emilia had laughed. “But it might be the only time you’ll ever see me that dressed up.” He had been in shock, a happy shock of course. An ecstatic shock.
“ You look great kiddo.” Came a soft voice from the doorway. Faden turned around and smiled at his friend.
“It’s a really old suit Laura, my grandfathers. And it’s slightly too big.” He said turning back to look at the mirror, tugging slightly on the suit. But Laura was right, for being so old the suit looked rather good. Besides, it suited him nicely. Laura wasn’t going to the cotillion despite her social status, it wasn’t her thing. It would be something strange to see Laura in a dress. He looked back at her as she walked over to him and fixed his tie that was giving him so much trouble. “Thanks, I’m afraid I’m a bit incompetent when it comes to formality.” He said as she then straightened out the shoulders of the suit.
Laura smiled and shrugged, “No problem, I am too, at least when it comes to having a formal attitude.” She grinned and stepped back slightly looking at her friend. Emilia better see how lucky she was. Although, out of all the girls for Faden to fall for she was glad it was Emilia.
Faden laughed, “Yeah true I guess.” He replied. He turned to Rachel and Lucy who were sitting on the bunk beds that Faden shared with Doug, “So…what do you guys think? Galahad worthy?”
Rachel nodded right away but Lucy sort of grimaced before grinning and nodding, “Sorry Eric. I had to mess with you a bit.” She said. Lucy out of all of them probably liked his suit the most since she loved old things, whether they looked super old or not. Faden smiled ruffled her hair as he sat down on the bed between Rachel and Lucy to put on his shoes. As he pulled the strings tight Rachel grabbed his arm and Lucy Laughed, “Aww our little boy’s growing up.” Lucy said with a smile. Laura grinned from the doorway.
“Be quiet you’re nine.” Faden said with a grin as he finished, he stood up again and walked over to Laura, “Hug for luck?” He asked, knowing even with him he needed to warn her. She nodded and gave him a hug before he blew kisses to Lucy and Rachel and darted out the door, grabbing the keys to the car as he left and a small circular box. It was a gift for Emilia he had gotten her. In the car Faden made his way to the country club, slightly in awe of the place. Of course he had been there during the rehearsals and all but this was different with the lights and the decorations. He grinned, excited as could be and chose to ignore the look the valets gave him as he handed them the car keys to a rather old, beaten car. So what if they sneered, poor or not he had the same right to be here. He looked up at the large clock outside the club, he should be meeting Emilia soon, outside the club. So he leaned against the wall of the club until he saw her face in the window of a car. He stood up straight making sure his suit was still placed right and hadn’t shifted strangely on his body, holding the gift wrapped in aqua tissue paper in his left hand.
No Matter How Many Tears. No Matter How Many Years. And so many fears So many sneers. But I love you.

Elliot Davis ‘cause when I'm with you there's nowhere else that I would ever wanna be, no I'm breathing for the next second I can feel you loving me _________ The things a guy will do for a girl. That’s all he could think about as he stood in his condo’s living room with his mother straightening out his tie for the millionth time. Elliot smiled brightly to humor her as she moved away, clapping her hands in delight that her only child was finally participating in some of the traditions she thought only a daughter would. He was doing this for Claire, and his mother, that’s what he told himself the whole time he was getting ready and throughout the whole drive to the country club. It was for the two most important woman in his life and it would soon be over. Anyways it really wasn’t that big of a deal, all he had to do was wear a suit and smile a whole lot.
Except smiling wasn’t so easy these days. Ever since the accident, Elliot and Claire’s relationship had been a little iffy and now he was hearing rumors that she had hooked up with Charlie McPherson at the big basketball after party. Claire sweared it wasn’t true and Elliot believed her flat out, but a part of him felt a little betrayed that there was even rumors. Why would there be if nothing happened? He told himself to forget about it and simply believe the girl he loved – which was what he did, but Claire and him seemed to be so on edge and paranoid he feared it was nearing the end.
He loved Claire and the last he wanted to happen was have them break up, but he kept getting the drift that maybe she needed some space. He had refused to go the basketball party and now there were rumors about her cheating on him. She had kinda snapped on him on the phone beforehand anyway after a little fight, but at the that time Elliot told himself it was nothing. Maybe he was too cling, maybe he just wasn’t cut out for a relationship like this. Sighing as his mother pulled into a parking spot, he hopped out of the car and began to walk towards the front door, his mother only a couple steps behind him. ”Just relax Elliot,” she came up beside him, placing a hand on his back and nodded. She had noticed how tense he seemed the last couple days, but of course she assumed it was simply nerves.
Entering the main foyer his eyes quickly looked around for Claire, he was itching to see her no matter how worried he was about what she was thinking. Noticing the rather large sign after he couldn’t see her, he figured she was gone already down the left corridor or simply not there yet. Stuffing his hands in his pockets, he joined the group of guys already forming down the right side.
Charlie McP left your desperate spell on me say you feel it too I know you do __________ He was beginning to dread this night. He could see the whole thing simply going up in flames before his very eyes. Cotillion was the last place he wanted to be and of course the only thing he had to do. If he didn’t have a date and it wouldn’t be a problem, he wouldn’t even have had to attend, but of course he couldn’t say no when someone asked. Charlie stood in front of the floor length mirror in his bedroom and adjusted his tie. He was looking pretty good if he could say so himself. ”Hey champ, you ready?” His father’s voice rang from behind his bedroom door, using the name he had been calling Charlie since he was a little kid. With a roll of his eyes, Charlie nodded, before remembering that his father wouldn’t be able to see the nod from behind the door. ”Yah, just give me a second,” he fluffed his hair once more by running his fingers through it and opened the door. Heading down the stairs, his father and step-mother were standing there all dressed up themselves. Of course they were attending and Charlie forced a weak smile as his step-mom let out a squee and commented on how good the suit looked on him.
After taking enough pictures to last anyone a life time, they got into his father’s BMW. Charlie had wanted to drive himself, but his parents insisted on giving him a lift. They only problem was now he’d have to leave with them or find his own ride home. It probably wouldn’t be that hard, but still he felt a little lame pulling up to the Cotillion in the pack of his dad’s car.
As they pulled into the parking lot, his eyes scanned amongst the girls in white dresses heading inside to see if his date was here yet. He was escorting a girl from his French class. A cute little brunette who he had been flirting with a lot at the beginning of the school year. They were coming as friends, which was fine with Charlie as he was still a little lost with what was going on with him, but part of him was really excited to be her date, in a date kinda way. He needed a distraction to get him over the she-Charlie, to help get it out of his head that there was nothing there. Cotillion may not be the best way to start, but hey he was trying.
Walking into the main foyer of the Country Club, Charlie read over the sign posted, noting he had to head right. ”See ya later champ,” his father called, slapping him on the back before leading his wife inside to mingle with the other adults and fellow members of Valkyrie’s finest. Sighing, he hung back slightly waiting to get this night over with.

Emilia Demtra Never knew I could feel like this Like I've never seen the sky before Want to vanish inside your kiss Every day I love you more and more
Emilia stepped slowly out of the car, very conscious of the fact that Faden had seen her. Smoothing down her dress, she turned and smiled slightly as her dad came around to her door and took her arm, giving the valet the keys to the car. As they approached Faden, Emilia’s smile widened as she looked shyly down at her feet. Her father looked at her for a moment, smiled, and turned to Faden. They had met once before, when Ben, Emilia, Laura, and Faden all went to hang out. “Nice to see you again, Eric. Emilia, I’ll just…Step inside for a minute and check things out.” Leaving the two, he strode indoors without a backwards glance.
Folding her arms so that the white sash around her arms stayed in place, Emilia looked up at Faden. “You look..." She thought for a moment, to find the right word. "Fantastic.” She said, toying with the white fabric that hung across her shoulders. Geeze. She had been fine just a second ago, now she was acting like her old self again; shy and introverted. Next she’d be tripping over her own feet or somehow managing to land flat on her face, which would not only be humiliating because many of her classmates would be in the building, but also because that gave her the potential to tear her dress, which she bought with her own money.
Not really sure what to say next, she shifted slightly on her feet and chewed on the side of her cheek. “So um…Laura and Ben are hanging out tonight, aren’t they?” She had known that Laura wouldn’t want to go to cotillion. It wasn’t exactly her thing. Besides, it wasn’t up Ben’s alley either; her brother in a tux would be hilarious. So Ben had asked Laura to meet him at the pier to hang out for a while. A good idea in her mind. Maybe Ben would finally get up the courage to talk to Laura about how he felt.
It was then that she noticed something in Faden’s hand. Arching an eyebrow a little, Emilia gestured to it with one hand. “What’s that?” She asked as her smile softened. It might not be fair to assume that the item in his hand was for her, but she couldn’t help hoping that maybe it was. Not that she had been expecting something from him. Taking her eyes off the bright paper, she looked Faden over again. He really did look amazing. Very Galahad worthy. She had been right to tell him before that he was the only dashing guy she’d met at Valkyrie. And tonight, it was very apparent that he was.
Claire Bartnett Looking in your eyes Seeing all I need Everything you are Is everything in me Claire’s foot tapped in a slightly impatient manner, watching every guy that walked by. Finally, after standing for a few minutes, she spotted him as he walked through the door. Tentatively, she waved a hand at him and smiled. After a moment though, he walked away. Claire bowed her head, not quite sure if he’d seen her or not. He did look great though, she had to admit. Not that she had expected him to look bad in a tux; he looked great in most anything.
The next person she saw made guilt and anxiety grip her stomach like a vice. Charlie. Fuck. She had expected him to be here, but not to actually see him. Then again, she would probably see most of her classmates tonight. Why would Charlie be any different? Ducking behind a pillar as he looked around the club, Claire rolled her eyes at her own pathetic-ness. Apparently, she was going to hide from him the entire time. Well, that was better than Elliot finding out about the basketball after party.
Glancing at the clock, Claire thought for a moment before walking back to her father. “Um, dad? I’ll be right back.” “Alright, hun, but don’t be late.” Nodding, Claire strode to the other corridor, to the way that Elliot had gone. Pushing past a couple groups of guys, she smiled as she found Elliot once again. Walking up behind him, she put her arms around him from behind. “Hey there.” She said, resting her chin on his shoulder.
Letting him go, she walked around so she was facing him. “I swear, with all these James Bond look-alikes, finding you was harder than I thought.” Kissing his cheek lightly, she smoothed down her dress a little. “But you do look fantastic in that tux.” Putting her hand in his and twining their fingers together, she laughed slightly. “Way better than anyone else who is wearing the exact same thing.” After a moment’s thought, Claire wrapped her arms around him again. “Thank you so much for doing this, Elliot.”
And I’m so, so sorry.

Hope you don't mind I hope you don't mind That I put down in words How wonderful life is now you're in the world
Faden still couldn't believe he was here and had a date with Emilia Demtra of all people. She looked like a Princess from the faerie tales that he read. It was strange. He had always been a romantic, always. He would always fall for a girl and fawn over her. Making outlandish declarations, of course most of the time he had been kidding. He had never declared real love before. But usually, with those girls, after a week or two he had meet a new girl and was fawning over her. And believe me, NONE of those girls ever liked him back. So his expierience in the dating world was little to none. But with Emilia it felt natural. He didn't have to be outrageous or outlandish and super theatrical, even though he liked to keep an element of the dramatic involved. That's why he kept the gift, that's why he had gotten the gift. And as she stepped out of the car all thoughts that connected him to the world flew away. She was beautiful and Luke was an idiot. Faden didn't grin, he didn't speak, he didn't notice her father was with her until he spoke to him. He only watched in awe. "Wow" was the only thing he could say until her father's voice snapped him out of it. He nodded, "Good to see you too Mr. Demtra." He replied with a small wave as her dad walked off past them.
He finally was able to grin a bit as she complimented him but he shook his head, his hair swishing slightly by the movement, "No, you look...." He couldn't just say great or beautiful. So after a short pause he looked her in the eyes and smiled, "You look awe inspiring." ((And she does because Natalie Portman is stunning)). And then he was lost again. It was as though those past crushes of his had never existed, it was as though the Cotillion was a ball put together for Emilia and him. This was their night. He didn't notice others passing him to get inside and there was no such thing as time, it didn't exist to them. They were above time. He just hoped the clock wouldn't strike twelve and she disappeared leaving behind only a shoe and a stampled pumpkin. And he very much prayed that he father didn't turn into a mule.
“So um…Laura and Ben are hanging out tonight, aren’t they?”
"Who?" Faden asked, absent mindedly, really his mind was still wrapping around being here with her. But then the words clicked in his mind and he gave an embarassed smile, closing his eyes for a moment, "Heh sorry," He replied with a small laugh, "Ben and Laura, right." He shook his head slightly. He actually hadn't known they were going to hang out tonight but he wasn't going to say he wasn't glad. Although, he had a feeling, even now if she thought something serious was going to happen she would go runnning. Faden smiled at Emilia, "That's a good thing though...right?" He said, not sure how Emilia felt about it. Although she hadn't said it with any distain.
Faden then looked down at his hand at the small box that he held. A small cornflower blue, circular box that had on, simple dark purple ribbon wrapped around it, twisted into a bow at the top. How could he had forgotten even for a moment? He took a deep breath, he had been so sure she would like it when he bought it but now was scared. He wasn't a wealthy guy, he couldn't buy her diamonds and emeralds. But Emilia wasn't the type to care about that. She was above all that. Faden handed it to her gently. "It's for you, actually." He watched nervously as she opened the small box to reveal a simple silved chain with a small sterling silver charm attached to it, laying gracefully on a small felt cushion. " I mean, it's not diamonds or anything but... it's because you made me remember that the fairytales we read when we were younger are always there, close to our hearts." He gave a tiny nervous smile as he watched her closeley. God he hoped she liked it. He had seen it and thought it screamed Emilia, after all, the conversation they had in Vegas that night, one of the ways they had bonded and realized they were alike was through the books they had read. Also that was the night he really began to feel for her. And they night they had become good friends. It was a night, Faden considered to be a turning point.

Listen to my heart, can you hear it sing Telling me to give you everything Seasons may change, winter to spring But I love you until the end of time
A light pink blush blossomed on Emilia’s cheeks as he complimented her, and she looked away for a moment, smiling widely. “Thank you.” She said softly. Really, Faden had to be the greatest guy on the planet. She’d been known to have bad luck in relationships before, often ending up with people similar to Luke somehow. Never before had she met, much less dated, a guy that could take the breath from her lungs like it was nothing. In all honesty, Emilia didn’t know why it was that he had been having bad luck with girls. Well, that’s what Laura had told her at one point anyways. He was so much more amazing than any of the other guys here.
Laughing softly as Faden appeared confused, she looked back up at him. “You know, your best friend and my brother?” She teased lightly. “But I think so.” From what she knew about Laura, she also knew that it wouldn’t exactly be strategic for Ben to tell her how he felt right now. She’d probably hit the pavement faster than anything. But also knowing Ben, that was most likely exactly what he was going to do. Emilia knew that the kiss was driving him crazy, but still, it was Laura.
As Faden set the small box in her hand, she carefully unwrapped it, smiling slowly. Folding the paper as it slid off the small box, she set it underneath as she opened the lid. Her breath caught in her throat as she bit down on her lip. Most girls would have scoffed at the simple looking charm, but to Emilia, it was as beautiful as any diamond. She knew that Faden wasn’t rich or anything, but none of that mattered to her. Faden was still Faden, and he had a heart that, in her mind, was greater than the richest man’s wealth.
“Faden…It’s…I…” She couldn’t seem to put two words together that would properly explain what she was feeling right then. “Eric, you should know by now that none of that matters to me. I don't care about having diamonds or anything like that.” Fairytales…Why did she feel like she was in one now? Probably thanks to Faden. After all, he had pretty much saved her from evil… Or Luke in this case, and won her heart like any fairytale prince might do. "What do you know? Some fairytales come true after all." She said quietly. Looking down at the small charm and its delicate chain, Emilia smiled up at Faden again. “I love it. Really.”
Emilia’s heart gave another painful throb, and she suppressed a wince. Clamping her teeth together, she took a second for the pain to go away. No. Tonight was her night. She was not going to let this get in the way. Looking back at the charm in her hand, she turned her thoughts away from the pain and back to Faden. She wondered for a moment how she could really explain how much she loved it. Then, an idea struck her. It was a little daring, but she wanted to give it a shot. Taking a small, shy step closer to him, she leaned up and kissed his lips lightly for a brief moment before stepping away. Her cheeks turned red, and she smiled nervously up at him, waiting for a reaction.

you were the one that brings the weather you were a dream I've had forever you know exactly what I'm wishing you’re gunna love me in to submission _____
This suit itched. He seriously felt like a five year old waiting to get his school picture done, antsy at the fact he was being forced into something. But Elliot wasn’t being forced into anything, he had told Claire that if she wanted to go he’d be more then honoured to be her escort. This was why he was here and why he wasn’t going to complain at all. Claire had wanted to come and therefore Elliot wanted to come. No matter how uncomfortable he felt being so dressed up, a bit of confidence seemed to surge his body as he did really look good. Not that Elliot would ever admit that, but he was enjoying how his tux fit so well and complimented all the right spots.
“Hey there.”
Her arms wrapped around his body and all of a sudden Elliot felt at ease. A smile came over his face, no matter how unsure he was about their relationship; she could still make me smile without even trying. ”Hey,” he replied, as she came around to face him, kissing his cheek as she did so. He laughed at her James Bond comment and lightly pecked her lips with his. This what he missed: the carefree them. Ever since the accident it seemed that all they could ever be was tense and slightly angry. The tension between them always seemed to be mounting and although Elliot hated it, he wasn’t doing anything at all to make it better. Maybe not going to the party was a huge mistake. They hadn’t had much time together lately and maybe it was his own stupid fault that now he was all paranoid she had cheated.
But Claire could never cheat. It just didn’t make sense, especially lying about it afterwards. Her word had to be the truth, and the fact he was doubting it scared him a little bit. Hadn’t they talked about lying and how both of them hated it so much. Wasn’t that the understood downfall of their relationship? Honesty was a trait Elliot valued immensely and knew for a fact he’d never been dishonest with her. Except for that one time she accused him of getting high all day before hanging out with her, he lied and said he hadn’t, when it was probably really obvious he had.
“But you do look fantastic in that tux.”
Any doubting thought he may have been having made no appearance on his face as he smiled back at her, blushing slightly. ”Thanks. You look gorgeous Claire, even more beautiful then usual,” he was never the best at giving compliments, and usually he got a little tongue tied at times like these, but the words flowed nicely out of his mouth. Her arms wrapped around him once again, and he hugged back, just happy to know that she still seemed to care about him like he did her. He smiled as she thanked him. ”You don’t turn down a pretty girl’s invite, ever,” he leaned back from the hug and entwined his hands with hers once again. He nervously looked down at them before bringing his eyes back up to meet his. ”But you’re welcome,” he paused for a second before speaking once again. ”I love you Claire,” the words kinda rushed out of his mouth and his cheeks began turning a shade of bright pink. Shrugging shyly, he met her eyes once again.
Although he had never said it too her, he always kinda got the impression she knew, and although he felt the same from her, he had no idea if she really felt as strongly as him. Right now part of him was freaking out, while the other felt a sense or relief.

Charlie WoodDont matter what I say only what I do I never mean to do bad things to you So quiet but I finally woke upIf youre sad then its time you spoke up too
She spent a good part of the day getting ready for this. She had curled her hair into an old fashioned style, the blond fit it nicely and truth of the matter, Charle Wood was told repeatedly that she resembled Marilyn which made her do nothing but blush since she thought Marilyn Monroe was a stunning woman. Although, Charlie was much slimmer than Marilyn, she was happy to resemble an old fashioned screen goddess. It was a compliment and thought nothing of the other implications people made to calling her a Classic Marilyn. So Charlie had never been the most... conservative? maybe is the word to use. She wasn't a stick in the mud and she liked to have fun. And Fun, to a lot of people, not just her meant sex. Sex was simple. It was for pleasure and that's it. That's all it ever had been and although she had been in a funk lately due to a certain guy, she couldn't let it bother her. She closed her eyes as she sat in front of the mirror, taking in a slow deep breath. This has to work. It will happen and then she'll be back to her old self and then... then maybe she and Charlie McPherson could be friends again, just friends, nothing complicated.
She opened her eyes again and gave herself a small, reassuring smile in the mirror. It would work. Thing was, Charlie hadn't slept with anyone since the night she and He-Charlie had spent together, cuddling and kissing sweetly, and speaking, talking the night away, wasting moonlight. She had been so thrown her life had been one of dull parties, awkward rejections as guys offered to take her upstairs and quiet evenings she spent at home, ignoring her father and hanging out with her brother. One very good thing did come this time, she and Mark were closer than ever. She had never understood him as she did now, never spoken to him for so long without one of them getting on the other's ass about Mark not going out enough and having enough fun or Charlie going out too much and having WAY too much fun. And as she placed her earings in her ears she heard a small rap at the doorway. She looked up to see Mark grinning in on her. "You ready yet Char?" He asked as the doorbell rang. That was going to be Tim.
Charlie nodded, standing up and smoothing out her dress a bit. Tim was her date. He was a cute Senior at Valkyrie with black and a known flirt. Which made Charlie's goal easy. She was going to break that spell, she was going to sleep with someone tonight and stop thinking about He-Charlie. Made sense right? Maybe. Tim wouldn't be upset that was all it was going to be. That's all Tim wanted. Anyways, she made her way downstairs followed by Mark, Why he wasn't taking Jessica, she didn't know. They had been off recently. As the door opened the tall Tim stepped in and took her by the arm winking a bit at Mark a bit who scowled back, not one to congradulate a guy for only dating his sister to get into the girl's pants. Once outside, Charlie glanced up at the sky which grew dark. It was chilly out but a nice night. She climbed into Tim's car, giving him a grateful smile as he complimented her appearence and they made their way to the country club, a place Charlie Wood had never been too, she wasn't going to be presented. She wasn't of that society and hadn't actually wanted to be walked anywhere with her father. But Tim was of the Valks, and he asked her to go, so pretty much, she was going to move on and have a good time. She would watch as the couples danced and the girls were presented to society and then spend the night with Tim, talking, dancing and flirting. He offered her a hand as she stepped out and the Valet's took his car away. As they entered the main foyer, Charlie couldn't help but smile. The place was gorgeous, like something out of a dream as she looked around the room, lead on the arm of Tim.
You touch me with your laugh You show me to my smile, and you You save me with your kiss before I drown
Faden felt like his heart could beat and his lungs could breath again as he saw her reaction. He was happy she liked it. No strike that. He was.... there is no word to describe how happy he was that she liked it. It was funny, some couples, or just people might look at these two, and their conversations, and their thoughts and just think EW they are sweet it hurts my stomach. And he hated to admit it but Laura might be one of them, at least on the outside, Faden's pretty sure she likes the cheesy stuff too but not the point. So many might look down at them but he couldn't get enough. He loved the fact that he was passionate about the way he felt about her. And he loved the fact she could handle the sweetness of fairytale metaphors. “Eric, you should know by now that none of that matters to me. I don't care about having diamonds or anything like that.” He smiled again, "I know, but still... you deserve diamonds... or other gems that contain color because truth be told I always thought diamond were kind of boring compared to a ruby or saphire." He added, rambling slightly.
"What do you know? Some fairytales come true after all. I love it. Really.”
See? What did he tell you about her appreciating th fairytale metaphors? It was true. And then something happened he could tell his grandkids about, if he had any that it. She kissed him. Lightly, sweetly, innocently, on the lips. And it made his heart pound and his arms to gain goosebumps. He could feel his blood, rushing through his body, filled with adrenaline, really, who needed drugs for this rush, this high? And yes, the kiss may have only lasted a moment, but it was enough to make his feet float slowly off the floor. "Wow" He muttered soflty to himself, his eyes shut gently still. He opened them again, half expecting him to be back in his bunkbed listening to Doug's snoring. He smiled a blushed slightly but hoped that Emilia didn't notice the slightly flush color in his cheeks. He looked down at the necklace in the case before gently picking it up and unhinging the chain, stepping behind her to put it on her. It hung about halfway down, between her neck and the top of her dress. She so beautiful, it was hard to believe she was real and not just a subject in a painting of some artists, mind. A painting he or she could never get right, because Emilia couldn't be captured in a picture.
He smiled again, slightly nervously as he glanced up at the crowd of people moving into the country club. He grinned and stepped in front of her, giving a low bow before offering his arms, "May I have the honor?" He asked with a smile, glad his sleeve didn't fall over his hand.

Is it written in the stars? Are we paying for some crime? Is that all that we are good for Just a stretch of mortal time? Claire couldn't help but smile as his lips met hers for a brief moment. She always forgot how much she missed him until the next time they saw each other. Even though she felt like shit right now, he was making her relax a little. That was the thing about Elliot; he always knew just how to make her feel better. Except she didn't know if he could every fully make her feel better about what she'd done.
She wondered if she should just tell him right then. Claire knew that he didn't really want to be here. He only was because she had suggested it. Now that was true devotion. Elliot had never lied to her. Not once. But Claire had lied about something that could very, very easily break their already precarious relationship. Besides, Elliot would never, ever trust her again. Not that she could blame him; she wouldn't trust her either, were she in Elliot's shoes. Maybe that's why she wasn't telling him. His faith in her was relaxing. It was good not to have a boyfriend who was suspicious all the time.
"Aww. Thanks. But probably not as great as some of the other girls around here." Jesus Christ, some of them probably spent like, a thousand dollars on to get the best dresses out there. A good bit of them also got great hair stylists to do their hair. That she knew for a fact, because a select few were bragging about it in the back. Claire liked her dress though. It was simple, but elegant, as was her hair style. It just proved that you didn't need to be super rich to look great. Besides, she didn't care if anyone else thought she looked bad. It was nice just knowing that Elliot did.
”I love you Claire,”
Well, fuck.
With these words, it felt like Elliot had dropped an anvil into her stomach. She had known in her heart that he loved her, and she loved him in return, but hearing him actually say it was a totally different manner. It should have made her feel better. But in reality, it only made her feel worse. She should tell him that she loved him. After all, she did. She loved Elliot with all her heart. But that might just make him feel worse. But if she didn't tell him now, then it might make him feel like crap right now, as opposed to later. That was something she also didn't want. Claire smiled up at him and squeezed his hand lightly.
"I love you too, Elliot. So much."

OSCAR LYON Someday you will find me Caught beneath the landslide In a champagne supernova in the sky_____________
"My son. A cotillion escort." Mr. Lyon looked so proud as he fiddled with Oscar's tie with a pleased look on his face. "I didn't see it coming, did you?" Oscar was about to open his mouth when his mother waltzed in the room with a smile on her face, "No, no, I didn't expect it. And you're taking Anne Lévesque." she said it as if she was the first to know about it. Oscar thought it would have been better just to not tell his parents that he was an escort at cotillion at all. But, that was nearly impossible when the country club called his home phone. The gig was up, and his parents were so excited he was in it. Of course, Oscar left out all the details of he was taking Kelsey, then taking Anne. So he just told them he was going with Anne.
"Pictures!" his mom said with so much enthusiasm that she had startled Oscar at first. He frowned. "Mom, ugh, no." His father finished the tie and put his hand around Oscar's shoulder. Before he knew anything, the flash went off and his mom took a picture. She looked at it on the LCD screen and smiled, "I just cannot wait until we get one of you and Anne." Oscar shook his head, "Mom, you're acting like this is prom. No." His mother wagged a finger at him. "To most of these girls, this is as big as prom." Oscar just gave him mom a look before walking out of the room to their California home, "I can't be late."
Driving in the Lyons' latest Range Rover Oscar kept quiet the entire time. As of now, no one knew that Oscar was Anne's escort, and Oscar wasn't oblivious he knew that Anne was probably nervous of what would happen when he had to escort her onto the ballroom floor. All the stares of the biggest Pokemon geek escorting the Prada diva. Not exactly two brands that mix well together. Oscar's dad stopped the rover at the front of the country club. The valet already coming over to drive the car away. The Lyons got out and Oscar walked a few paces behind his parents.
The country club was definitely buzzing with many people already sipping champagne out of their flutes. Light music could be heard, but would most likely stop when it began...at eight. He saw the sign and started reading it as he walked closer to it as his parents went to find a table with some friends. He starte to find his way over tot he right side of the stage where all the other escorts were gathering, passing Diem Hayes, a girl he knew well. She was looking a little frantic and by the way she looked, didn't want to be bothered. So he continued to walk until he found a group of guys. Feeling only a little awkward he mumbled, "Hey, guys." On the table, the view behind the legs of dancers, Windows of chance there lost on the trail of dissent - innocent. ____________ While most girls were relaxing and getting their mani/pedi, last minute dress fittings, and their hair done at salons. Diem's entire day was just one big stressfest. She woke up really early and had her father drive her up to the country club, as she met with the director to go over last minutes details with the cameras, and timing it out perfectly, then she came back home to find her older sister, Daphne, ready to do her hair, make-up and in the dress that she made Diem just for this event. As both sisters were in Daphne's room with a chair in front of a full length mirror as Daphne was straightening her hair with a straightener. A new look for Diem was that Daphne somehow convinced Diem to color her hair right when she got home. A dark tone of brown, Daphne said she looked professional, and that's all Diem needed to hear, and now she was a dark brunette.
"Would you keep your head up, please? Daphne asked her as she started tugging on Diem's hair, forcing her to look up straight, tearing her vision away from her cellphone for which the past forty-five minutes consisted of texting her other friends who were in her media class to help on camera crew. Yes, Diem did want more credit and of course she only chose the best of the best in the class. No noobs that didn't know the difference between the record button and play button were not handing the cameras. "Ugh, sorry, I just need everything to be perfect." She felt Daphne's hands leave her head and put them on her shoulder. "Dee, you need to relax. Everything's going to be perfect, you're going to film this awesome documentary, and you're going to have fun for the both of us."
Diem let out a sigh and flipped her phone closed. She looked at Daphne through the mirror and sighed again, "Daph, can't you at least come with dad and I?" She knew her sister's situation. Sure, her leg was healing, but she could debut this year with a broken leg. She wouldn't be able to dance tonight, or even be escorted without crutches. Daphne shook her head, "No, I'll be fine. Just bring back the tape. Anyways, I have plans tonight." Diem turned in her seat and looked up at Daphne. "Really? With who?" She was eager to know since all Daphne ahd been doing was laying around and being mopey. Daphne hobbled around the chair to the dresser without her crutched and shrugged. "With Morgan." Diem sat their confused. She knew all of Daphne's friends. Morgan was never one. "Morgan who?" Daphne opened a drawer and started rummaging in it, "Morgan comma Captian." Diem rolled her eyes. "I'm just going to ignore that. How do I look?" Diem surveyed herself in the mirror. A simple sequined, black slip dress was far different from the white attire the debutantes would be wearing tonight. Daphne made her way over to them. "You look, so beautiful."
It was a silent ride up to the country club. Well, her dad tried to start conversations but Diem just hushed him and continued on her texts. They parked in the way back. Their car not in the same genre as an Escalade, and walked up to the door and went in. Diem lost her dad right away as she travelled quickly to the back, meeting up with the rest of her crew. She was such in a hurry that she didn't even say hi, but already started demanding things, "Ok, we need to get some cameras on the guests arriving. Brooke, you do that. Liam and Jeff go in the boys wing on the right. Dana and Ashley, take the girls'. Cassie, Harry, and myself, we'll also being out here on the crowd. Divide sections up to get different angles of the escorts, each couple gets a close-up and on the dance. Any questions?" she seemed to let it out in one big heap of breath, and she really hoped that she wasn't sounding like a bitch, but they needed to relaize if they wanted to be in the biz, they had to take orders. Someone raised their hand and she nodded towards the boy name Colin. "Diem? What should I do?" Gah, she forgot to assign him somewhere, she just didn't want to leave him out so she said, "Besides this main ballroom, there is bound to be a few people wandering the halls and outside. Find those people and tape them." He seemed pleased with his job as she smiled at everyone. "Ok, let's get started." and with that, everyone had spred out.
She pulled her cellphone back out of her purse and checked the time. It was nearing eight. She could just imagine that Daphne was already on her second glass of her friend, Morgan. But, she'd call Daphne later. She felt bad that Daphne couldn't be here tonight. And that is exactly what Diem kept in mind. She still needed to bring Daphne back that tape.

jason, babydark blue, dark blue have you ever been alone in a crowded room, well i'm here with you Jason tightened his jaw as he leaned over on the balcony of the country club, where the gray clouds were moving closer together. It was definitely going to rain, if anything. He felt the cold December air kiss his half shaven face as he dug his hand in his pocket, fishing for his pack. He finally retrieved them, and took out his lighter from his other packet. Slowly, he drug out a cigarette and lit it, inhaling and exhaling, blowing circles around the Pacific Ocean. He closed his eyes for a moment, wondering what kind of a fall it would be from this balcony. No, Jason didn't consider suicide, but he thought it would be an adventure to be faced with death. A challenge to test his strength. Okay, so fuck it, he didn't have muscles, but he definitely had a back bone.
"Mind lighten me up a cig?" The thirty year old mess, a beautiful mess actually, said in a sultry thick voice with a German accent. Foreign? Maybe. Either way, Jason was drawn immediately, as his own hung like a loppy fish from his mouth. He glanced at her up and down for a moment. Curly brown hair that reached her wrists, with an hour glass figure and boobs the size of his own head. He smirked, wondering if this bitch was a hooker or something. She definitely had the attire and voice going for it, and he didn't mind one bit. He walked over to her, taking out his own cigarette and handing it to her. That's right. He didn't give up his cigarettes and drugs easily, especially for a strange woman. Despite that she looked absolutely gorgeous. She took the cigarette and stuck it in her mouth. Flirtation accepted.
"So, you enjoying the scenery?" "It's cloudy outside.." "Babe, you got me all wrong." Jason smirked, as he ran his hand along the woman's arm in a seductive manner. "I meant me." Maybe it was a good thing he brought his condoms tonight. He'd get lucky. Little did he know, right?

Caleb checked himself out in the mirror. He messed with his tie, hair, and suit a bit. Then he decided to head down stairs. He ran into his dad, the principal. "Hey, Sorry dad." "No problem son, so. whos the lucky lady?" "Dad, I already told you, Bailey Mitchell." Caleb said blushing. "At least it isn't that Daphne Hayes girl, shes trouble" Caleb swallowed. What his dad didn't know was that Caleb asked Daphne, but she turned him down, he didn't have to find out either. "So caleb is she a looker?" "Dad!" He said smacking him in the arm. "Well if that is all that matters to you i'll go show you her yearbook picture"
Caleb ran into his room, threw some clothes around and found his yearbook picture quicky. He had the page she was on bookmarked from showing all his friends who didn't know her. He ran downstair to his dad and showed him. "nice job, kid" Caleb grinned and set his year book down. "okay dad. I have to go now, sorry. See you later tonight" "Don't stay out to late" His dad said waringly. Caleb smiled as he grabbed his coat and left the door. "You know I will!" He shouted getting into his car and heading to the collition.
- - -
Caleb let the vallet man take his car and he walked in the doors. It was beautiful. Not that Caleb really cared. But he was nervous, what is Bailey ditched him and he was left there like a loner. He would be depressed. Daphne had already hurt him, but he had Bailey now, who was just as beautiful and as nice. Amanda was probably happy. It was a win-win situation. That made him wonder, would he see Amanda? probably. Would he get the same feelings he got last time? Would he fall in love with love?
He looked around for Bailey. she was nowhere to be seen. What if she stood him up? His took his cell phone out of his pocket. It was 10 'till. She had time. he was worried though. He didn't want his reputation to go down anymore than it already has. He was just nervous. Yet excited to see Bailey all dressed up. He was sure she would look beautiful. So he stood there waiting.

These are the moments I know heaven must exist These are the moments I know all I need is this Really, how adorable could a guy get? Most girls would probably roll their eyes and laugh at the things Faden was saying. Then again, most girls didn’t like Faden the way that Emilia did. Some would probably agree with him whole heartedly, saying that they deserved, and wanted, diamonds. “Faden, if I got any kind of jewel from any other guy, it wouldn’t mean half as much as this does coming from you.” It was the truth, too. “But thank you for the compliment anyways.” Not many people would say that diamonds were boring, but he did have a point. She loved the colors of many of the other gems that existed.
A blush lit up Emilia’s cheeks as he muttered quietly. She saw his, but didn’t say anything about it. Besides, her blush was worse than his. Her heart was pounding in her chest from anxiety, but deep within her actual organ, an artery was working frantically to keep blood flowing. When she was born, Emilia had a Congenital Heart Defect. One of the arteries leading to her heart had been blocked, causing the doctors present to have to do surgery right away. By the time she was four, she had been operated on thee other times. But after the last surgery, they had told her that she would be fine.
The issue was, Emilia couldn’t remember what it felt like to have her artery blocking. She just thought that it was probably just her nerves, which was why she wasn’t saying anything to Faden about another spasm of pain as he walked behind her and put the necklace around her neck. Reaching up and touching the charm with her fingertips, she turned her head to look at him with a wide smile. “I really doubt that you’ll ever see me take this off.” She said quietly, looking down at it as he stepped around her again.
Laughing quietly as he bowed and offered his arm, she suppressed a smile and curtsied before taking his arm. “You may, but the honor is all mine.” People walking into the club rolled their eyes or laughed at them as they passed, but Emilia didn’t take notice of them. Who cared what other people thought? She was happy, and that’s all that mattered to her.
As they entered the country club, they found her dad leaning back on a wall, waiting for them. She gave him a slightly grateful smile at the fact that he had left them alone for a while. Mr. Demtra merely smiled back. “So, here’s the deal.” He reported. “Eric, you’re supposed to go to the right corridor and wait there with the other guys, and Emilia and I are going to go to the left.” Emilia nodded, slipping her arm slowly out of Faden’s and smiled up at him. “I’ll see you in a bit, okay?”
